Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds were forced off stage last night because of a power cut.
The former Oasis guitarist was just finishing his first song at 7.30pm at an open-air show in Marlay Park, south Dublin -- opening for headliners Kasabian -- when he encountered sound difficulties. The problem continued into his second number with the power being cut just 10 seconds later.
Gallagher and his band played on, unaware the audience were unable to hear them. Moments later they left the stage altogether before returning just after 8.05pm. The Manchester-born musician laughed off the technical difficulties.
Aside from some sporadic clapping and cheering, the audience took it in the same spirit.
Many were just happy to have made it into the arena after the most stringent security checks at a rock concert for years following the Swedish House Mafia concert last month in the Phoenix Park at which there were nine stabbings and multiple arrests.
Fans were subjected to two body checks and asked to put the contents of their pockets into transparent plastic bags before entering the concert site.
But most concert-goers said they didn't mind.
"We all want to have a safe night and the security people have a job to do," said Kevin Dunne from nearby Churchtown.
While last night passed off without incident, security is expected to be even tighter at tonight's concert in the park featuring DJ David Guetta.
The series of concerts is rounded off by a Van Morrison/Tom Jones double bill tomorrow.

Yes comrades.
Where we up to? Fuck knows, let me check . . . .
So, it would seem the last time we spoke I was getting ready for a festival in Vienna? It was good as I remember. Hadn't played for a while so I wasn't expecting much but it was pretty fucking good. Spoiled only by the death of one of my guitars. Well, it might not be actually dead but it was seriously maimed. A sad day. Rest in pieces my friend, I loved you very much.
After that we flew to Chelmsford for the 1st night of that V festival. Weather was great. Hot, hot, hot! That festival though (the Chelmsford end of it anyway) has become swamped with young boys in vests and silly hats. Big, big crowd though. Smashed it I think. Legged it pretty much straight off stage up to Manchester. 4 hours in the back of a car. It’s as grim as it get's let me tell you.
I was up in Manchester for no other reason than to see the new, and still defending, champions of England kick off the new season. Thank fuck it's back. Life is well shit without football. We won. Unconvincingly, if you ask me. Great game though. After that there was a mad dash to the northern end of V in Stafford. What a great gig!! Up there with Benni'. I'm sure it was the same crowd!! Big up if you was there!!!
So after that we flew to Belfast. A little festival. Good though. Rowdy as fuck. United lost!! We did laugh. Drove to Dublin straight after. Had 2 days off. Drank more than enough Guiness. Lovely.
Getting ready for a co-headline thing tonight in Marley Park with my old mates Kasabian. Haven't seen them for a while so I'm well looking forward to it. I lost the toss so I'm being put into bat first . . . so to speak. Got a day off tomorrow so it's bound to get messy.

Rock legend Noel Gallagher says he would like to one day manage non-league Burscough FC.
The former Oasis star was discussing the fortunes of his beloved Manchester City when asked if he ever fancied himself in the dugout at a "little non-league club"
"I would be brilliant at it," he said.
"There is no question I would be really good at it. I am a leader of men."
Gallagher was asked if he could fit such a role into his hectic schedule if a non-league side made contact, the 45-year-old replied: "Burscough.
"I could do it. I can see me with the long coat on saying 'don't call me gaffer' and 'get your haircut'."
The comments have caused a stir amongst Burscough supporters who hope to raise the club's profile on the back of the revelation.
Burscough, nicknamed the Linnets, play in Step Eight of the English football pyramid in the Evo-Stik First Division North.
Managed by Derek Goulding, Burscough have made a positive start to the new season with a win and a draw from their opening two games and play a Victoria Park.
The club have never played at a higher level than the Conference North but shot to prominence in 2003 when they won the FA Trophy at Villa Park.

Noel Gallagher would still be a roadie if his music career hadn’t worked out.
The former Oasis star went on the road with indie band the Inspiral Carpets back in the late Eighties.
And he believes that would have been his job for life if success hadn’t come his way. He said: “I would have been out there now, probably in an ill-fitting black T-shirt with a tattoo and some scruffy Converse trainers. Because that is what they all wear.
“But I was maybe the best-dressed roadie in the history of music. I used to wear white jeans and never got them dirty. I was too quick for the dirt.” He must have saved a fortune on Daz...

“I’m not dedicating f*** all to you freeloading b*******!” The crowd then turned on the residents by chanting “Who are ya, who are ya?” while pointing at them.

"The Importance Of Being Idle" is a song on the British rock band Oasis' sixth album, Don't Believe the Truth, written and sung by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was the second single released from the album in the UK, on August 22, 2005, where it debuted at #1. It was also the first time that Oasis earned two successive #1's in the same calendar year. It was written by Gallagher sometime during the summer of 2004, before the band made their final attempt at recording what would become Don't Believe the Truth. He got the title from the Mark Twain book of the same name which he found whilst cleaning out his garage (it belonged not to him but to girlfriend Sara McDonald.)
Musically, as Noel has commented, the song sounds like tunes from two British bands, The Kinks and The La's. In particular, the sentiment expressed is noticeably similar to The Kinks' "Sunny Afternoon" and "Dead End Street", and the use of falsetto for every other verse line recalls The La's "Feelin'". The guitar sound is similar also to The La's b-sides; "Clean Prophet" and "Over". It also is a breakaway from the sound of Oasis's latter albums, especially the straight ahead rock 'n' roll anthems of Heathen Chemistry. The keyboard used on the pre-chorus sections was bought by bassist Andy Bell from the auction website eBay.
Noel has said that the lyrics of "The Importance of Being Idle" are inspired by his own laziness. Some of the second verse, with the reference to begging his doctor for "one more line", seems to be referring to an actual event as this resembles Noel's account of how he gave up cocaine in 1998.
Most reviewers acclaimed the track as one of the highlights of Don't Believe the Truth, which itself was widely praised as a marked return to form. The band mentioned in interviews in June that it would become the second single, after the UK Number One "Lyla". The b-sides are Liam Gallagher's "Pass Me Down the Wine" and Gem Archer's "The Quiet Ones."
The promo film was directed by Dawn Shadforth, (whose previous videos include Kylie Minogue's award-winning "Can't Get You Out Of My Head"). Shadforth's film for "The Importance of Being Idle' starred Welsh actor Rhys Ifans and homages the style of early 1960s kitchen sink drama British films, and is set during the build up to a funeral procession in a northern town, with the extravagant undertakers parading the coffin at the video's climax and Ifans playing the part of a high-kicking funeral director. The video is based on the film and play Billy Liar with Ifans playing the role of Billy. Noel and Liam therefore play Shadrack & Duxbury, the owners of the funeral parlour where Billy works. The rest band (Gem,Andy and Zak) make a brief appearance as lazy workers playing cards in an undertaker's office. It was widely acclaimed at the time as being probably the best video Oasis had ever made, not least by the band themselves, who were said to be very happy with the finished product. The video is very similar in style and concept to the music video for "Dead End Street" by The Kinks.
Q Magazine readers placed the song at #1 in a list of 2005's greatest tracks.
The video for the song was voted the video of the year at the NME Awards.
The song is included on Oasis' 'best-of' album Stop the Clocks.
