Noel Gallagher On Oasis' 'Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants' Album

In the new issue of MOJO magazine that is out now, Noel Gallagher spoke about Oasis' album 'Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants' that was released in 2000.

Below is a snippet from the interview.

MOJO: In retrospect, was Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants an early indication of an impulse to do something radical with Oasis - which failed.

NOEL GALLAGHER "My mistake was... the first thing we did was Go Let It Out, which had a drum loop on it. Because I was writing all the material, and making all the decisions, I could never carry that idea through to the end. I'd get three songs in and go, "OK, I've got another seven songs that are stadium rock," and everyone would go, "Great! Stadium rock with guitars!" When you're starting with a blank canvas, like I am now, things are finished. With Oasis there was a timescale, because you had to get out on the road. And when no one else was contributing, everyone would be sitting there going, "have you finished writing it yet?" Particularly Liam. he'd be like, "Have you written it?" I'd be like, "Fucking hell, it is quite difficult y'know? I know I make it look easy, but it's actually not easy".

MOJO is available in stores now and available to buy digitally from various outlets.
