On This Day In Oasis History...

Oasis released the 'Live Forever' single on August 8th 1994.

It was the bands first of twenty two consecutive Top 10 singles in the 'Official UK Singles Chart' from 1994 to 2008.

Brian Cannon speaking about using the childhood home of John Lennon on the single artwork.

"It's appropriate, because 'Live Forever' is for Lennon, Simple as that. And if the shot looks as though it was taken in the '50s, it's because we used infa-red film."

Noel Gallagher speaking about the song to Hot Press in 1994.

"Our self confidence stems from the fact that we know there aren't many great bands around today, and we know we wrote a song like 'Live Forever'. If you're involved in anything to do with a record like that, it makes you feel invincible"

I think this recording of the song below from August 1994 is my most listened to live recording from the band ever.

On August 8th 2000 Oasis played at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary.

Listen to a bootleg of the gig below.
