Liam Gallagher Compares Noel To Dolly Parton

"If you want to hear Oasis songs done properly come to my gigs," he said

Liam Gallagher has described his brother Noel as performing Oasis songs “like Dolly Parton.”

The former Oasis frontman is preparing to release his debut solo album ‘As You Were‘ later this year. The album will be released on October 6 and will feature singles ‘Wall Of Glass‘ and ‘Chinatown‘.

Speaking to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe today (July 25), Liam discussed getting back on stage after four years away. “I‘ve got the relationship back with my kids and stuff, and all is good in the world, but I’m ready to get back on stage and do some screaming and shouting.

“If you want to come and hear Oasis songs done properly come to my gigs. Our kid’s doing them like Dolly Parton.”

He also explained why he took so long off after Lowe pointed out that he hadn’t really had a break since Oasis took off. “That second [Beady Eye] album was the first album I’d never toured in America,” he said. “There were no gigs happening so I thought ‘I’m not going to do a third one.’

“There was a lot of personal stuff going down as well so I reckoned I needed a bit of time out. It was the right thing to do, you know what I mean? But I had to get away and sit in a room away from music.”

Asked what he does when he’s not busy with music, Liam replied: “Moan. Kick things. Spit at things – all sorts of stuff. Swear a lot. Kicking like a fence or an iron gate or something. I drink a lot and eat and stuff, and then I go for a run and chase squirrels. The last four years have been hell.”

Liam Gallagher Will Be A Guest On TFI Friday With Blur, Roger Daltrey, Mani And More

15 years after Chris Evans' anarchic chat show TFI Friday ended, it's back for one night only on June 12th. Yesterday Evans revealed the line-up and it includes Brit-poppers for all those viewers nostalgic for the series' late 90s heyday: old rivals Blur and Liam Gallagher.

Roger Daltrey, Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist Mani and The Lightening Seeds' Ian Broudie will also be making an appearance, Evans confirmed on Twitter.

Yesterday he answered the questions of tweeters eager to know whether pub trickster 'Will' (YES), original writer Danny Baker (YES) and the Freak or Unique segment would also be making a comeback (YES YES YES!), and if Samuel L Jackson was cast in Star Wars because of his appearance on TFI Friday (correct, replied Evans).

The Ocean Colour Scene theme tune will also be heard, and the set crammed with a heckling audience will be "same but different," said Evans. "Bit of an issue. They knocked our old studio down two months ago. D'oh!"

When TFI Friday launched in 1996, it was broadcast live but that changed when Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder swore repeatedly on air (he's been barred from Channel 4 ever since). The time round it will presumably be pre-recorded before its 9pm broadcast.

Evans has been posting countdown videos on YouTube and in the latest Dolly Parton, David Bowie and Hugh Grant are wildly applauded when they braved the enormously popular, defiantly unpredictable show.

Michael Eavis Says He Wants Noel And Liam Gallagher To Reunite Oasis At Glastonbury

Michael Eavis has said he wants Noel and Liam Gallagher to reunite Oasis at Glastonbury.

The festival boss told the Daily Mirror that he'd love the feuding brothers to perform in the headline slot.

He revealed that he's been talking to Noel and Liam - who announced last month that his latest band Beady Eye had split.

Michael said: "I do talk to Noel and Liam a lot. Wouldn't it be marvellous for them to relaunch at Glastonbury, now Liam has split from Beady Eye?"

The 79-year-old, who was speaking after being honoured with the Music Industry Trusts (MITS) Award, also said he'd like to book Taylor Swift for the Sunday afternoon slot.

"Taylor Swift would be great to follow the Dolly Parton slot - especially being a country singer," he said .

But he told the newspaper that it was very unlikely he'd be getting Fleetwood Mac.

The US rock band had been the bookies' favourite to headline next summer.

Emily Eavis: Oasis Not Playing Glastonbury

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has tweeted to confirm that Oasis are not playing Glastonbury this year.

Bookies had suspended bets on the band playing after Liam Gallagher sent a cryptic series of tweets, using letters to spell out the name of his former band.

This year's Saturday headliner still hasn't been announced.

It's 20 years since the release of Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe.

Eavis confirmed the band wouldn't be appearing in a simple tweet, responding to someone asking her directly.

Gallagher's tweet could have been linked to the fact he was pictured this week with Oasis band mate Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs.

The pair apparently had a drink together, with Bonehead tweeting the word 'pub' in a similar style to Liam's message.

Arcade Fire and Kasabian are the headliners for the Friday and Sunday nights of the festival, held in Somerset at the end of June.

The Black Keys, Dolly Parton and Lily Allen are some of the other acts performing over the weekend.
