Noel Gallagher: Glastonbury Can't Afford An Oasis Reunion

Noel Gallagher says Oasis won't reunite for Glastonbury because festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis can't afford the phenomenal sum it would take for him to rejoin brother Liam on stage.

Noel Gallagher says he won't reform Oasis to headline Glastonbury because the festival doesn't "pay enough".

The rock icon says there's no chance he will reform his defunct band to play at the world famous music festival again because organisers Michael and Emily Eavis can't afford the huge sum it would take for him to reunite with his estranged brother Liam Gallagher.

Speaking at the premiere of Bradley Cooper's new film 'Burnt' in London on Wednesday night (28.10.15), he said: "I don't know where the rumours keep coming from about Glastonbury. Would we ever do it? They don't have enough money I'm afraid. That's the bottom line, they just don't pay enough. I've done it a few times, I know what they pay and it's not enough."

Oasis have played Glastonbury on three occasions, stealing the show on their debut appearance in 1994 before going on to headline the next year in 1995 and then again in 2004.

Liam has since opened the festival as a surprise act with his last group Beady Eye in 2013.

Although he doesn't want to reunite Oasis for Glastonbury, Noel is keen to perform at the festival in Somerset, South West England, again as a solo act with his band The High Flying Birds.

The 'Lock All The Doors' singer previously said: "If I was asked, yeah. I'll headline the spoken word tent, anything. If you're listening Michael Eavis, I'll do it."

Michael Eavis Drops A MAJOR Hint That Oasis Are Set To Play Glastonbury

Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis has dropped the biggest hint yet that Oasis will reform for this year's festival.

The founder of the music event, which takes places in Somerset, south-west England in late June, confirmed 'two British bands' will be joining together to headline the world-famous festival on the Sunday night.

Speaking to the Daily Express, he explained: 'It is going to be two British bands.'

When probed further on whether the bands would be performing separately, Michael, speaking at a Glastonbury talk at the Victoria & Albert museum, replied: 'No! They will be joining forces - that's not been done really.'

The exciting revelation comes after rumours began swirling about feuding brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher joining forces for the first time since the Britpop band dramatically split in 2009.

A source close to the brothers recently told the Daily Mirror Noel, who left the band claiming he couldn't work with his younger sibling anymore following a series of rows, is back on good terms with Liam.

The insider said: 'It's early days in terms of the details, but Noel and Liam are back on good terms and ready to give things another go.'

'Nothing is signed but it's what you might call a gentlemen's agreement between them.'
'Ultimately they’re family and whatever has gone on before can be sorted out – they're very close beneath all the bluster.'

Noel, who is now the frontman of High Flying Birds, appeared to shy away from the idea of a reunion last month, revealing in a radio interview that he 'doesn't want to do it again'.

But the 47-year-old rocker confirmed he was open to the idea of a reunion with his younger brother if the money was right.

'If I was ever going to do it, it would only be for the money,' he said.

Speaking to Q magazine, he added: 'This isn't me putting it out there, by the way. Would I do it for charity? No way. We’re not that kind of people. For Glastonbury? I don’t think Michael Eavis has got enough money.

'But would we get back together one day? As long as everybody is still alive and still has their hair, it’s always a possibility. But only for the money.'

Last month Liam, 42, whose band Beady Eye split up last year after five years together, shared a picture of himself holding a backstage pass to one of Noel's gigs, proving their relationship is on the mend.

He captioned it: 'Keeping it in the family...LG x'.

Around the same time, Noel, who's set to tour North America next month with his band, encouraged his younger sibling to make a solo album, saying he should 'put his balls on the line.'

Formed in 1991, Oasis' first LP Definitely Maybe at the time became the fastest selling debut album in the UK and set the wheels in motion for a number of hits including Don't Look Back In Anger.

However as the band grew more popular, tension between the two brother began to mount and the pair often clashed while on the road.

In 2009 after an altercation with Liam which resulted in one of his guitars being destroyed Noel quit.

In a statement, he wrote in a statement: 'It is with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.'

He added: 'People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.'

The final addition to the Sunday line-up of the Pyramid Stage is set to be announced by Michael on June 1.

The festival kicks off on June 24 and Foo Fighters and Kanye West headlining the first two night.

Tabloid Alert: Oasis To Reform

The feuding brothers split the iconic Britpop band in 2009 but they’re back on speaking terms – and rumour has it they’re planning to work together again.

It’s music to the ears of millions of bereft Oasis fans left in a trackless desert after the band’s 2009 split.

Feuding brothers Noel Gallagher and Liam – spotted out with his girlfriend and pals this week, as you can see in the gallery above – are said to have taken the first steps towards a reunion next year.

Weeks after it emerged the pair had patched up their differences, we can reveal the band are in talks for a comeback.

Details were leaked by a well-placed source speaking after 47-year-old Noel’s recent gig in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

They said: “It’s early days in terms of the details, but Noel and Liam are back on good terms and ready to give things another go. Nothing is signed but it’s what you might call a gentlemen’s agreement between them.

“Ultimately they’re family and whatever has gone on before can be sorted out – they’re very close beneath all the bluster.”

Liam is particularly keen to perform a money-spinning series of concerts as he is eager to rebuild his career.

He has suffered a string of damaging revelations about his personal life and his band Beady Eye has folded.

The 42-year-old fathered a child, Gemma, with US music journalist Liza Ghorbani in March 2013. He has recently reached an agreement over payments after a lengthy court battle.

The affair led to his divorce from Nicole Appleton, 40, last year. He is now in a relationship with his former assistant Debbie Gwyther, 32, and was seen out this week having a meal and a few drinks at a pub near his North London home.

The source said: “Noel’s solo career has been a huge success with number one records and sold-out arena tours but Liam hasn’t been able to match that with Beady Eye.

"He is ready to try and put their differences behind them in order to get back on stage together with the band now that Beady Eye have split up.

“Obviously it would be massively lucrative for them both too, and the demand for tickets would be enormous.”

Rumours of a reunion have been circling for months amid claims they would be tempted by an offer of headlining this summer’s Glastonbury Festival.

And Liam posted a photograph of himself online clutching an Access All Areas pass to one of Noel’s solo gigs, revealing the pair were hanging out again – with the caption: “Keeping it in the family.”

But it is thought the pair wanted more time to plan a comeback on their own terms rather than committing to anything this year – while still insisting publicly a reunion remains a long way off.

Noel, who married Sara MacDonald, 43, in 2011, recently admitted their only motivation would be “for the money”.

He said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine: “If I was ever going to do it, it would only be for the money. This isn’t me putting it out there, by the way.

“Would I do it for charity? No way. We’re not that kind of people.

“For Glastonbury? I don’t think Michael Eavis has got enough money. But would we get back together one day? As long as everybody is still alive and still has their hair, it’s always a possibility. But only for the money.”

Today representatives for both Noel and Liam declined to comment about plans for a reunion – although sources say Noel has yet to be completely convinced.

Noel Gallagher Has Had No Serious Offers For Oasis Reunion

Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher says he has never had “one serious offer” to get his old band back together.

The musician, who walked out of Oasis in 2009 after regular rows with his lead singer brother Liam, was responsible for most of the band’s hits including Live Forever and Wonderwall.

He told The Times: “Given all the rumours, I haven’t had one serious offer for a reunion gig.”

Last year, Liam sparked stories the band were getting back together with a series of cryptic tweets that led one bookmaker to suspend betting on the band playing the Somerset festival.

But Noel said: “Michael Eavis has never called up and asked if Oasis will play Glastonbury.”

He refused to totally rule out any prospect of a reunion, saying: “It’s always like this. At the end of the interview some guy will say, ‘I’ve got to ask...’ And I reply: ‘If, if it was happening, do you really think I’d let the world know by telling you?’”

Noel Gallagher On Oasis, Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, And The Jam Reforming

Noel Gallagher has told the current issue of Q that he would only reform Oasis for the money and that Michael Eavis has not got enough money for Oasis to reform at Glastonbury.

He said "Nobody has made us an offer. I've been in the same room as Liam, and even then nobody's said, 'Weren't Oasis great? You should reform.' But if I was ever going to do it, it would only be for the money. This isn't me putting it out there, by the way.  Would I do it for charity? No way. We're not that kind of people. For Glastonbury? I don't think Michael Eavis has got enough money. But would we get back together? As long as everybody is still alive and still has their hair, it's always a possibility. But only for the money. Look at The Stone Roses. When you're constantly getting asked if you're going to re-form, you can only keep saying 'no' until you say, 'yes'. I've never spoken to John Squire about this, but it's like John got bullied into saying, 'yes'. Now the Roses have re-formed, no one mentions them any more."

He Added "I think it's ingrained in English psyche - this idea that the glory days, the Empire, are behind us. Led Zeppelin! The Smiths! The Jam. They should all reform! Why? So a load of middle-aged people can stand in the 02 and go, 'they're not as good as they used to be'. It'd be the same with Oasis. 'Yeah, we're not as good as we used to be'".

Q magazine is on sale from Tuesday.

Foo Fighters Will Agree To Glastonbury If Oasis Reform

Foo Fighters have said they'd agree to headline Glastonbury if Oasis reformed to also play the festival.

Dave Grohl revealed that the group haven't yet been asked to top the bill, but would say yes if Liam and Noel Gallagher played, and Prince agreed to be the third headline act.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 he explained: "If Prince does it, and Oasis does it, you've got the Foo Fighters, how about that?"

The singer says he hasn't spoken to organiser Michael Eavis or his daughter Emily about headlining, but is interested as Foo Fighters haven't played Glastonbury since 1998.

"He hasn't called me. I mean, I don't want to give out my phone number on air, but I like playing shows! I've been to that festival before. It's pretty fun. We'll see what happens. We'll get a conference call happening, we can work this out. Imagine Prince and Oasis on the telephone, that would be amazing."

As a huge fan of Oasis, Dave has toured with the brothers and spent time with them away from the stage, and is sure the sparring brothers could put their differences aside for the festival.

"In America Oasis sort of crept up on us, and it was one of the first times that an English band became massively enormous in a really long time. We ended up seeing them and playing shows with them and I got to know them a little bit. I love them as people, they're the sweetest people in the world. I know they have this sort of reputation of being brash and nasty, but I don't think they are. I've watched them live and there are not that many bands that can just stand there motionless and make 100,000 people go bananas, and that comes down to the songs. When your songs are that good, you've got something good going on. I miss them.

"If Taylor Hawkins and I can be in a band together, I'm sure that they can be in a band together too."

Are Oasis Getting Back Together?

Is a Glastonbury reunion part of the Masterplan for battling brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher who want one last chance to shiiiiiiiiine?

It's time to don your parka, practice your monkey walk, and comb your monobrow - Oasis are getting back together, some might say.

Insiders reckon Liam and Noel could be burying the hatchet for a reunion at Glastonbury.

But now insiders reckon that Peggy Gallagher's youngest boys have shaken hands and made up and Oasis are on for a desperate money making much anticipated reunion.

The Sun reports an Oasis insider saying: "Noel and Liam are on speaking terms again so some kind of a reunion could well be a step closer."

They added: "Liam could certainly do with the money. The cash just isn’t rolling in like it used to but his outgoings are bigger than ever...

“Noel doesn’t need the money but it is hard to turn down the buzz of stepping out on the biggest stages in the world, so who could blame him if he eventually changes his mind?

“It is clear he has fallen back in love with Glastonbury and would love to headline that again.”

Glastonbury festival chief Michael Eavis revealed he’s in constant talks with Noel and Liam – who announced Beady Eye had split last month.

Michael, 79, says: “I do talk to Noel and Liam a lot. Wouldn’t it be marvellous for them to relaunch at Glastonbury, now Liam has split from Beady Eye?”

Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, who played guitar in Oasis from 1991-1999 is now in a band with former Smiths' Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke.

Mirror Celeb bumped into him backstage at a Madchester reunion gig for the 50th birthday of Stone Roses axeman Aziz Ibrahim. When we quizzed him about an Oasis reunion Bonehead said he was "sworn to secrecy."

He told us: "I love Beady Eye. I love Noel's High Flying Birds too. But I can't say anything about a reunion.

"I'm sworn to secrecy."

"Besides, I'd be the last person to know."

"But I might offer to come back as band psychiatrist, wear a white coat and drive a bus!"

Michael Eavis Says He Wants Noel And Liam Gallagher To Reunite Oasis At Glastonbury

Michael Eavis has said he wants Noel and Liam Gallagher to reunite Oasis at Glastonbury.

The festival boss told the Daily Mirror that he'd love the feuding brothers to perform in the headline slot.

He revealed that he's been talking to Noel and Liam - who announced last month that his latest band Beady Eye had split.

Michael said: "I do talk to Noel and Liam a lot. Wouldn't it be marvellous for them to relaunch at Glastonbury, now Liam has split from Beady Eye?"

The 79-year-old, who was speaking after being honoured with the Music Industry Trusts (MITS) Award, also said he'd like to book Taylor Swift for the Sunday afternoon slot.

"Taylor Swift would be great to follow the Dolly Parton slot - especially being a country singer," he said .

But he told the newspaper that it was very unlikely he'd be getting Fleetwood Mac.

The US rock band had been the bookies' favourite to headline next summer.

Noel Gallagher Says Oasis Committed Festival Suicide At Glastonbury

Noel Gallagher fears his former band Oasis committed festival suicide at one of their biggest ever shows by playing a bunch of new songs the audience had never heard.

The band headlined Britain's Glastonbury festival in 1995 at the height of their fame, but the set was muted when they delivered six tracks from (What's the Story) Morning Glory? which hadn't yet been released.

Although the record was hailed as a classic upon its release three months later in October, 1995, the songs were unknown at the time, and Gallagher regrets opting to perform them at the prestigious festival.

"Oasis never really had their Glastonbury moment. We never really got on with it. I couldn't tell you why. Lord knows we had the tunes but the times that we did it when we should have been great was the first year we headlined it and we got sidetracked," he said.

"We'd just come out of the studio making Morning Glory and we decided, which was suicide, to play six tracks off Morning Glory which no one had heard, one of them being Champagne Supernova which goes on for about half an hour.

"It was the only time we've played Don't Look Back in Anger to silence. And by the time we played (Glastonbury) a second time (in 2004), our moment had passed. So I'd be up for doing it again."

However, Gallagher was quick to play down any suggestion he would reunite with Oasis for the event, insisting he only wants to perform at Glastonbury as a solo star at the request of festival boss Michael Eavis.

He adds, "Yes, if I was asked, yes. If you are listening Michael Eavis, I'll do it."
