If Liam Gallagher Ever Goes Bald He's Getting A Wig

The former Oasis frontman - who once described one of his 90s hairstyles as "Dougal from 'The Magic Roundabout'" in reference to the children's TV dog - says there is no chance of him going around with no hair because that wouldn't be very rock 'n' roll of him.

The 'Wall of Glass' singer told the new issue of The Big Issue magazine: "No one wants to see bald rock stars, man. If I ever go bald, I'll be getting a wig. F***ing too right, without a doubt. There's no shame in that. What would you do? I wouldn't suffer in silence. I'd definitely go for it."

The 46-year-old rocker - who now has a short hairdo - also revealed that Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards is his biggest hair inspiration, but while he's tried out his style before, he has joked that by the time he hits the road for his tour in support of his debut solo LP 'As You Were' later this year he could rock a perm.

Asked who has served as his "hair hero", Liam said: "He's [Keith] got the Elvis thing going [with the sideburns] and it's really long down here [on the neck]. That's the perfect haircut. And I had it a couple of months ago. But last week I just thought, I'm a bit f***ing bored here, I'll go to the barbers. And I asked him, 'Do you have any clippers?' He went, 'Yeah', so I said, 'Just take it off' ... By the time I do the UK tour I might have a f**king perm. A Marc Bolan vibe. Who knows man, that's the beauty of life."

As for his what he's like when's he's not play the rockstar on stage, Liam insists he's super laid-back, unlike his wild partying days in the 'Some Might Say' group.

He said: "I'm a chilled motherf**ker these days. I certainly don't go round beating up old people and tripping them up or gobbling on windows. I've got a heart of gold."

Oasis In Their Own Words Proves Liam And Noel Gallagher Are Totally Hilarious

With the new Oasis movie Supersonic on the way, the BBC has decided to dig deep into its archive of interviews and news reports to come up with its own celebration of the legendary Manchester band.

And the broadcaster has turned up some seriously classic Gallagher moments, reviving snippets and soundbites that prove what we all knew: that Noel and Liam aren't just some of the city's most important musicians, they're also among its most natural comedians.

Oasis In Their Own Words revisits the moment the band changed the face of music in the 1990s: blazing an historic trail to the top of the pop charts in August 1994 with their debut album Definitely Maybe, locking horns with Blur in the battle to be king of the Britpop era, and making all kinds of tabloids headlines for record breaking shows at Knebworth as well as cancelled gigs in America.

We've had a preview of Oasis In Their Own Words - which is available on the BBC iPlayer from 7am on Friday, September 30 - and these are some of the highlights to look out for.

Left-handed Noel was told off for playing guitar right handed

Dexterous Noel was apparently ordered by his school music teacher to flip his guitar over and restring it to be played left-handed as he is a natural leftie. But "it didn't make sense" to play it that way round, he says in an interview with musician and presenter Jools Holland.

Instead he stuck to his guns, and remains pretty pleased with himself about the win, laughing, "I'd like to say if my old music teacher's watching, do you wanna borrow a tenner?".

"We made Bonehead go bald"

Adding to the body of evidence about the Gallagher God complex (look out for the amazing clip of newsreader Jennie Bond reporting that Oasis reckon they mean more to young people than religion because "has God played Knebworth lately?") is a nugget of footage in which Noel claims Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs' hair loss was a deliberate band decision.

"I told the rhythm guitarist he'd have a bit of character if he lost a bit of hair," says Noel. "So we made him go bald."

Hilarious.

Take that, Take That!

Liam's long cold stare into the camera is absolutely priceless as he recounts the success of Some Might Say, despite him boycotting the video shoot.

"Hey, I'm Liam from Oasis," he swaggers, "and our new song Some Might Say's gone in at number one, knocked Take That right off the spot, and we haven't done a video.

"I'm not paying £30,000 for me to sit in a truck stop and eat eggs, bacon, and beans," he says about refusing to shoot the planned video. "So I didn't get out of bed - and I got a slapped wrist for it."

Noel's damning assessment of Be Here Now

When presenter Jayne Middlemiss asks Noel about the criticism of the band's third studio album, Noel responds: "Looking back on it now we should have called it F*** It, That'll Do. I listen back to it and it sounds like a Bon Jovi album to me... Like Slippery When Wet."

Liam's assessment: "I think it's top."

Oasis: the biggest band in the UK?

Is a good question for a group who claimed this was their ambition, and Noel's analysis of the situation at the start of the 2000s is right on the money.

"I'll tell you what's the funny thing about being in Oasis, right, is when we first started off we were hailed as the new Beatles, and then second of all we were the U2 it was OK to like, and now we're a younger version of the Rolling Stones, i.e. the record's not doing too well but you can still come and see us at Wembley."

Oasis In Their Own Words broadcasts just before the release of Supersonic by Mat Whitecross, the man behind docudrama The Road To Guantanamo and award winning documentary movies Amy and Senna.

Supersonic premieres in Manchester on Sunday, October 2, and the sold-out first screening at the Odeon Printworks will feature an appearance from frontman Liam Gallagher himself, plus a Q&A session with fans afterwards.

The film is on general release from October 7.

Oasis To Release Knebworth Album And More Next Year

Noel Gallagher has said in an interview with German magazine Event that Oasis will release a documentary and a live album next year to celebrate 20 years since the legendary Knebworth shows that took place in 1996.

When questioned if a Oasis documentary was in the pipeline he said ""Oh yeah! Just because it'll be the 20th anniversary of our Knebworth concerts in 2016. And because we're a bunch a of nutters, we've completely forgotten that we had actually filmed the whole thing. With like 20 cameras and a lot of what happened on the festival ground as well. Like fans arriving, backstage sequences, interviews and flights over the area. Which we've never released. I've no idea why. But we decided that 2016 would be a good moment to do so, since Knebworth was the highlight of our career. We think that the 20th would make a good occasion to reflect on that, or to tell history of Oasis - and then leave it at that. So far there's going to be a documentary and a live album."

Knebworth is a venue that has long been associated with the biggest acts in rock history; Queen, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones had all played there to vast audiences. Oasis saw themselves as part of this rock legacy and there were only few UK locations left that could handle the crowds that followed them. Oasis wanted to set a new benchmark for an open-air performance; they hired the biggest PA, the biggest video screens, and reportedly sold over 250,000 tickets for two consecutive performances.

Review: Beady Eye In Rome

Review: Beady Eye at Rome's Orion Club on 16 February

“Everyone’ll be calling their kids Beady Eye by the end of the year”, Liam Gallagher, 25 January 2011.

While I doubt (m)any children have been christened “Beady Eye" in the last few years, the now not-so-new project headed by rock's last true anti-hero Liam Gallagher has certainly become a recognisable name, and for good reason.

Straight off a massive Aussie summer festival tour and with another steady four or five months of touring ahead of them, the Beady Eye lads were in top form in Rome, both musically and behaviourally… which one is never sure of when attending a gig involving a Gallagher brother.

Emitting ageing mod cool in a perfectly pressed cream duffel coat and trademark sunglasses, Gallagher shared supportive nods with football scarf-wielding crowd members, signed autographs in vocal breaks, gracefully dodged a bottle of water and even reacted with calm and good humour to a blackout shortly into one of their big numbers, Shine a Light. As techies rushed to resolve the issue, the crowd let rip a couple of football chants, followed by another which seemed to be "Paga la Luce." When the band returned to the stage Gallagher seemed up-to-date on how things work here in Italy, quipping “I’ve got a feelin' it’s gonna be a long night, haven’t got anywhere else to go have ya?”

Opening with Four Letter Word, the second promotional single from their debut album Different Gear, Still Speeding, and ending with a cover of the Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter, Beady Eye performed a blistering hour-and-a-half set that included tracks from both album releases including Flick of the Finger, Start Anew, current single Soul Love, and also Wonderwall and Cigarettes and Alcohol by Oasis.

Love him or loathe him, don’t pretend you’re not at least mildly interested in what "Gallagherism" may fall out of the man's mouth next. Five years in and ever evolving, the day for comparisons should be over. No Beady Eye are not Oasis, but they’ve got chops.

Bookies Slash The Odds On New Material By Oasis In 2015

Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Oasis headlining the Saturday night of Glastonbury 2014, NME reports.

The Gallagher-fronted band were previously 16/1 to headline the Pyramid Stage next year but those odds have dropped to 9/1 following a rush of bets over the past week. Paddy Power have also cut the odds on the band reforming from 12/1 to 5/1 and Oasis are now at 11/2 to release an album of new material by the end of 2015.

Alternatively, Noel Gallagher is 20/1 to headline the festival on his own in the slot previously claimed by the likes of Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Jay Z and, this year, the Rolling Stones. Paddy Power are not, however, currently offering odds on Beady Eye topping the bill in 2014.

Despite the reduced odds, Oasis still remain an outside bet to headline the Worthy Farm festival next year with Foo Fighters, David Bowie and Daft Punk still favourites with the bookies. Dave Grohl and co. are odds on at 4/1 while Bowie and Daft Punk are at 8/1.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power said: "We've seen a lot of money being placed on Noel and Liam burying the hatchet, reforming, and rocking Glastonbury – it's enough to make anyone think there could be an expensive divorce or paternity claim just around the corner."

Other bands and artists included in the latest odds include Kasabian, Fleetwood Mac and Prince. Popstar Olly Murs is a long shot with odds of 100/1. See below for a full list of Glastonbury Saturday night 2014 headliner odds:

Gem Archer And Liam Gallagher Talk About Beady Eye's Debut Album

Gem Archer has told Mojo that there is a bit of Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley in the new Beady Eye album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ that's released on February 28th on the band's own record label.

The guitarist said" "We rehearsed it, we had it almost like a set, so we could put a lot of these songs down live. The word 'psychedelia' has been used. I always say that is a very large word, almost meaningless to some people. So I would just say 'colourful'. There's a bit of Brian Jones-era Stones, a bit of Elvis. When I say the psychedelia thing, I'd compare it to when The Kinks were slightly psychedelic. Most of it's stripped down in a kind of kitchen-sink way, and almost always trying to keep a light on it's feet., like a debut album should be. I still remember the term 'jukebox classic', tunes you'd stick on in the pub.

Also speaking to Mojo about Beady Eye's debut album, was front man Liam Gallagher who said "It's not soppy ballardy shit. They're some good ballsy tunes. I mean, a couple of tunes are just a bit slower than the rest, but they've got a bit of balls. It's 90 per cent rocking. If Oasis were black and white this is proper, proper Technicolour."
