'We've slagged off every fucking band in the universe, and now me and him are going head to head'

Liam Gallagher has spoken out about going ‘head to head’ with his brother Noel when the pair release their solo albums within a few weeks of one another.

This Autumn will see the rivalry reignited between the former Oasis bandmates, with Liam dropping solo debut ‘As You Were’ on October 6, while Noel has suggested that his next album with The High Flying Birds will arrive the next month in early November.

Speaking to Q Magazine about how closely together their releases fall, Liam said that “it’s like we’ve come full circle.”

“We’ve slagged off every fucking band in the universe, and now me and him are going head to head,” Gallagher continued. “I’m sure his record is gonna be great, man, but I feel double proud of mine, really confident.

“I do exactly what it says on the tin. I’m here to give the people what they want.”

Liam Gallagher To Perform At Homeless Charity Sleep-Out In Edinburgh

A mass sponsored sleep-out to raise money for the homeless will feature A-list "buskers" including Liam Gallagher and Deacon Blue.

The Sleep in the Park event in December will involve around 9,000 people sleeping rough in Edinburgh's West Princes Street Gardens and the city centre.

It is organised by the social enterprise Social Bite, which says it will be the world's largest ever sleep-out event.

Sir Bob Geldof will be among those sleeping rough, with the aim of raising £4m to tackle homelessness in Scotland.

During last year's event Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy and other wealthy Scots slept outside to raise money for a new village for the homeless.

The new village, which will accommodate 20 homeless people, is currently under construction.

This year's event will feature "busking" sets from the former Oasis frontman, Deacon Blue, Amy Macdonald and Frightened Rabbit.

It will be hosted by comedian Rob Brydon and John Cleese will perform a bedtime story.

Sports personalities and politicians are also expected to take part in the sleep-out.

Members of the public and businesses can take part in the event by meeting fundraising targets and accepting the sleep-out challenge.

Liam Gallagher Compares His Forthcoming Video To Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U

The rocker told Radio X that his new For What It's Worth promo will be a bit like Nothing Compares 2 U.

Liam Gallagher has compared his forthcoming video to Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U.

The former Oasis frontman teased his plans to film his For What It’s Worth promo today (29 August), and explained why it's similar to one of the most iconic videos of all time.

Speaking to Radio X's Sunta Templeton at Leeds Festival this weekend, Gallagher revealed: "It’s gonna be me, obviously, staring at the camera, signing the song. No bells and whistles. Letting the song do the business, do you know what I mean?

The Wall Of Glass rocker added: “Maybe like Nothing Compares To You [...] That kind of thing. I’ve got the haircut for it."

On This Day In Oasis History...

Definitely Maybe is the debut album by English band Oasis, released on August 29th 1994. It was an immediate commercial and critical success in the UK, having followed on the heels of singles "Supersonic", "Shakermaker" and particularly the popular "Live Forever".

Definitely Maybe went straight to number one and 7x platinum in the UK Album charts on initial release. It was the fastest selling debut album of all time in the UK when released. Definitely Maybe marked the beginning of Oasis' success in America, selling over 1 million copies there, although only reaching #58 on the Billboard 200. The album went on to sell over 7.5 million copies worldwide.

In 1997 Definitely Maybe was named the 14th greatest album of all time in a 'Music of the Millennium' poll conducted by HMV, Channel 4, The Guardian and Classic FM. In 2005 Channel 4's '100 Greatest Albums' countdown placed the album at number 6. In 2006 NME placed the album third in a list of the greatest British albums ever, behind The Stone Roses and The Queen Is Dead. In a recent British poll, run by NME and the book of British Hit Singles and Albums, Definitely Maybe was voted the best album of all time with The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band finishing second and Revolver third. Q magazine readers placed it at five on their greatest albums of all time list in 2006 and in that same year NME hailed it as the greatest album of all time. It is frequently referred to as the greatest debut album of all time.

Album History
In 1994, Oasis were seen as a distant echo of the moribund 'Madchester' scene which had exploded in the early 1990s. Unlike other Madchester bands who indulged in experiments with funk, dance or hip-hop, Oasis presented themselves as a relatively straightforward rock and roll band. Along with bands like Blur and The Verve they seemed to encapsulate a new wave, one which did not yet have a name. By the end of the year the media coined the term Britpop, of which Definitely Maybe retrospectively became one of the pivotal albums.

Many of the songs had originally appeared on Oasis' "Live Demonstration" demo recorded in Liverpool the year before with Chris and Tony Griffiths of The Real People. The main recording sessions took longer than expected, with the bulk of the album having to be recorded three different times with Mark Coyle producing, before Owen Morris came up with a mix that everyone was satisfied with. The album cost nearly £85,000 to produce, a huge amount of money for a debut album at the time.

The album title, according to Noel Gallagher, comes from a poster he saw in a pub, although he cannot remember what the poster was advertising.

Liam Gallagher On The Key To A Good Life

Wildman Liam Gallagher has stunned fans by telling them the key to a good life is “not drinking too much”.

The former Oasis frontman, 44, blamed his drug and drink-fuelled benders for causing the breakdown of his marriages to Pasty Kensit and Nicole Appleton.

And he urged fans to lay off the booze if they want to stay out of trouble.

He said: “I’ve made some howlers in my personal life, I’ve had a couple of marriages and hurt my kids and that.

“So personally, my advice would be don’t take too many drugs and don’t drink too much alcohol.

“You should stop that because that gets you in situations.

“But overall I’m quite happy with how it’s all gone and is going.

"I’m a good person and I’ve had a good life, rock‘n’roll has been very good to me.”

Liam, who fronted Oasis with brother Noel from the early 90s until their acrimonious split in 2009, became famous for his wild boozing.

But the star has calmed it down as he gets older so he can concentrate on his music.

He was back in action as he took to the stage at the weekend’s Reading and Leeds festivals.

The bad boy rocker left the crowd in good spirits by tweeting that his Leeds set was “up there if not better than” any Oasis gig.

But the goodwill didn’t last long, after the Mancunian star claimed that someone stole his sunglasses.

He later tweeted: “Rite to the c*** who robbed my shades backstage at reading I hope you die you c*** I guess it’s karma for stealing the show as you were LG x (sic)”

The following statement by Noel Gallagher, was posted on the Official Oasis Site on August 28th 2009.

"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

Oasis were due to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris but cancelled at the last minute. When the support band said Oasis would not be performing, many fans thought it was a joke, but then screens at either side of the stage showed this message: "As a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled."

Liam Gallagher Reveals His Mum Has Given Up On Trying To End His Feud With Noel

Warring brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher’s relationship is so broken that even their mum has given up trying to reunite them.

Fed-up Peggy, 73, says she is past caring 20 years after war first broke out – and a decade since her sons stopped talking to each other.

The Oasis stars’ beloved mum now cannot even get them in the same room at Christmas or for family birthday parties.

Liam, 44, revealed: “She is done with it. She is like, ‘F*** yous. Smash each other’s heads in for all I care. I am sick of it.’

"It has been 20 years now. She is done with it and she has given up.”

Peggy – who raised her boys alone – has also refused to move closer to them in London, saying she prefers the peace and quiet of her home in Burnage, Manchester.

Liam said: “She had three jobs. She’s still grafting today. She’s a tough woman, and she still lives in the same house.

“I’m like , ‘Come on. You’ve got to move from here.’ But she’s like, ‘I am not moving from nowhere.’

“She is not interested in any of this now. She is like, ‘You get on with your mad, crazy whatever life.’ Her feet are cemented to the ground.”

Peggy’s revelation means an Oasis reunion is less likely than ever.

Last year she gave clues about Liam’s split with Noel, 50, in Supersonic – a film about their lives.

She confessed: “I think there was that bit of jealously. Noel was beautiful as a baby and then Liam comes along – it takes the limelight off you.

“I was glad they were in a band together. I wouldn’t have wanted Liam in a band without Noel. But it all happened too quick.”

Teenager Injured In Manchester Bomb Meets Liam Gallagher

A 15-year-old teenager injured in the Manchester attack has met his music idol Liam Gallagher. Adam Lawler went to the Ariana Grande concert with his friend Olivia Campbell-Hardy who was also 15. She died in the attack and Adam was seriously injured.

Adam met Liam Gallagher at Leeds festival - his first time at at a gig since the attack. They chatted about his lost school friend Olivia Campbell-Hardy who died in the attack.

Adam sustained serious injuries including shrapnel wounds and fractured legs. He is going back to Tottington High School as deputy head boy in September after astounding doctors with an amazing recovery.

'Her loss feels like a loss of a part of me. Maybe it's the loss of my innocence, maybe it's the loss of something deep down that I didn't know was there. It's just that I've lost something dearly. Not just a friend, but I've lost part of me as well. She brought joy to people. And I think that's what I want her to be remembered for. Not how she died. How she lived.'

Alan McGee Thinks Oasis Will Reform By 2019

Reunion would come on the 10-year anniversary of Gallagher brothers' bust-up that split the band in 2009.

Oasis will have got back together by 2019 – says the man who discovered them.

The reunion everyone has been waiting for would come on the tenth anniversary of Liam and Noel Gallagher’s bust-up that split the band.

I can reveal that the man who first signed them — music industry legend Alan McGee — is convinced the pair will patch things up and, ahem, not Look Back In Anger any more.

Alan said: “There is a very strong chance they will get back together within the next two years. Watch what happens.”

There’s been no love lost between the Gallaghers since 2009, when a backstage row at a Paris festival ended with Liam swinging a guitar at Noel’s head “like an axe”.

Alan is no stranger to the brothers’ rocky relationship after signing Oasis to his independent label Creation Records in 1993.

And his comments come amid speculation that Liam is preparing to join Noel at the sold-out We Are Manchester benefit concert on September 9.

The gig will mark the reopening of Manchester Arena following the terror attack that killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert there in May.

Alan added: “It is brilliant Noel is opening the arena. Ultimately, I think Liam will be happy he is doing it. They have their public spats but at the end of the day, they are brothers.

“I have never heard Liam say anything really bad about Noel.

"He might take the p**s but it has never been anything over the line.”

Perhaps it’s best not to mention here how Liam described Noel as a “sad f**k” after failing to perform at Ariana’s One Love concert following the attack.

Alan is convinced that the success of Liam’s forthcoming debut solo album, As You Were, will pave the way for a reunion between the warring brothers.

Liam Gallagher On Wanting To Play At 'We Are Manchester' Charity Benefit

The former Oasis frontman has responded to further questions about whether he’ll join the bill in re-opening the Manchester venue next month.

Liam Gallagher has re-confirmed that he’s up for playing the We Are Manchester charity benefit next month… but that he thinks it will really be his brother Noel’s night.

We Love Manchester will re-open the Manchester Arena on Saturday 9 September with a special benefit concert featuring Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Courteeners, Blossoms and more. Also on the bill will be Rick Astley and poet Tony Walsh, with a DJ set from Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets.

It will be the first gig held there since the terrorist bomb attack in May, which killed 22 people following an Ariana Grande concert.

Speaking to Radio X’s Sunta Templeton backstage at Leeds Festival last night (25 August), the former Oasis frontman said: “I think this one’s going to be our Noel’s night. Not that it’s about Noel, but you know me, I’m just winding him up. But if someone asked me and they were sincere, I’d definitely be there, man. “But I don’t think it’s gonna happen.”

Liam made an appearance at Ariana Grande’s benefit show in June, where he performed an Oasis classic with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Liam Gallagher "I’m Having The Time Of My Life Being Me"

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the current issue of Nylon Magazine about his many good qualities.

When asked "Of your many good qualities, your consistency is the most palpable".

Liam replied "Why change? I’m having the time of my life being me. I ain’t changing to get a record deal. I ain’t changing to get my song on the radio. I ain’t changing—full stop. I like who I am. I’m not
everyone’s cup of tea. It takes time for people to get acquainted with me. If dickheads think I’m a dickhead, that’s cool. If cool people think I’m a dickhead then I’ve got more work to do".

Liam Gallagher "I Prefer To Be In A Band"

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the current issue of Nylon Magazine about going solo.

When asked "Why are you so wary of the term “solo career”?

He Said "I prefer to be in a band, but if I were going to join up with others it would just get compared to Oasis. It’s my name above the door, but it’s still very much a band thing. It’s not like it’s my way or no way. I’m open to what the guitarist thinks or the drummer’s point of view".

Liam Gallagher "I’ve Always Gotten On With Everyone"

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the current issue of Nylon Magazine about getting on with everyone.

When asked "It’s telling of your agreeable persona that the other members of Oasis followed you—and not your brother—the moment the band split".

He said "I’ve always gotten on with everyone. I can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes, but can’t we all? In the workplace, I’m chill. That’s one of the things that’s good with this album. With Oasis or Beady Eye or Noel, everyone wants to be the producer. Nothing worse than all these wannabe producers telling the producer how it is. I’m just singing, letting the musicians play and letting the producer get on with doing their thing".

Liam Gallagher "Rock ’N’ Roll Guitar Music Is Not Trendy At The Moment"

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the current issue of Nylon Magazine about the current state of rock ’n’ roll.

When asked "There is little in the current musical landscape that walks a straight line of guitar rock ’n’ roll, which makes for great timing for As You Were".

He said "I don’t know what a lot of bands are doing these days, but they’re not rock ’n’ roll bands and they’re not guitar bands. They’ve got one foot in the dance world and one foot in the guitar world. They need to make their minds up. Rock ’n’ roll guitar music is not trendy at the moment, but it has always been good to me. I’m not doing anything different than I’ve done before. I’ve had time off and it’s made people realise that sometimes you miss what you don’t have. It’s nice to get singing again without all the drama. I don’t mind drama, but to only have full-on drama, that’s no good to anyone".
