LiveAmp Brings V Festival, Oasis Directly To Your iPhone

V Festival sold its final ticket to the last reveller weeks ago, so if you were thinking about getting your hands on one, sadly, that ship has sailed.

There is still a glimmer of hope though, perhaps in the form of a good 'ole competition (there must be someone giving tickets away somewhere?). But if trawling the web for ticket givaways sounds like your idea of hell, there is another way.

The Absolute Radio LiveAmp app for the iPhone sympathises with your desire to hear Snow Patrol and Oasis take to the stage for their headline sets, by offering you the chance to listen to their entire gig on Absolute Radio live and uninterrupted.

Unfortunately, there'll be no live visuals of the sets themselves, but there is still exclusive video reviews, pictures and a live V Festival Twitter feed to help you get over the fact that you're not experiencing it in person, all in exchange for 59p.

Alternatively, if you have managed to bag yourself a ticket, why not use the service to get the low-down on the latest V festival info - who knows you may even turn up in one of the pics?

The iTunes Festival 2009 has already had some amazing moments, from Kanye West’s appearance alongside Mr. Hudson or Friendly Fires’ electrifying show last week.

Yet when the line up was announced there was a gig that stiid out as having the potential to be legendary… tomorrow night see Manchester’s favourite brothers Noel and Liam take to the stage as Oasis headline at the Roundhouse in Camden.

Oasis’ live shows have been the talk of the summer with chaos caused by generator problems at their concerts in Manchester’s Heaton Park to teh increasing rumours that the band may take time off touring together for Liam to concentrate of a fashion label and Noel to work on solo material. With support from rising stars The Enemy everything is set for an incredible night out. To win 1 of 5 pairs of tickets all you have to do is be over 18, be able to get to and from the venue and answer this ridiculously simple question:

c) Dig out some loose change from the back of the sofa!!

Taken from Noel's tour diary for oasisinet.com

Hello. Seems like the problems we experienced at that Benicassim were, in the grand scheme of things, minor irritations. The next 2 days were cancelled. High winds caused chaos, by all accounts. There was a massive, massive fire on site. Weller only played half his set before he was pulled off (not like that, you filthy little twat!).

No such troubles up in the Alps here in Switzerland. The fezzies here run like clockwork. Bit nippy though. Didn't spoil the gig. It was really fuckin' good. Didn't see any other bands so nothing to report on that front.

Off to Germany today. Last festival of this little trip. Roundhouse on Tuesday. Then off to Japan/South Korea on Wednesday.

Kasabian are on the same stage as us today. Should be fun.

In a bit.

GD.

Don't Look Back In Anger Lads

They're renowned for their bickering - but I hear relations between Noel and Liam Gallagher have sunk to new lows even by their standards.

My spy at the sell-out Penicassim Festival in Spain tells me the pair were openly rowing after leaving the stage following Oasis' gig last Thursday. Dogged again by troubles on stage with the sound, Liam stormed off, leaving his brother to carry on the concert without him.

He eventually returned - but what the fans didn't see was the brothers carrying on their dispute backstage.

My source reveals: "Liam shouted something at Noel before walking off in a different direction.

"The pair don't look like they are even talking to each other. It doesn't seem they are enjoying being on the road together." Noel admitted earlier this month that for him "life would be easier without Oasis".

With bookies now offering odds as short as 7/4 on Noel leaving the band, I might be having a fairly large punt in my local Ladbrokes.

No Liam Paul Weller & Liam Gallagher Duet Due To Fire

Modfather Paul Weller says he feared for his life during his appearance at Benicassim on Friday night, which was marred by a fire and high winds.

The former Jam legend had to delay his set by half-an-hour while firefighters battled to control a nearby bush fire that was spreading rapidly towards the festival site due to the blustery conditions.

He was then forced to call an abrupt end to his gig after just 50 minutes as the freaky high winds battered the main stage.

Terrified ... Paul Weller

He said: "I was f******* scared. I came on stage to big black clouds and could see the huge inferno to the left. It was spreading so quickly!

"About 50 minutes in the organiser came and forced me off stage as the huge inferno was spreading so quickly and the winds were swirling!"

Despite feeling scared, Paul admits the dangerous weather conditions got his adrenaline pumping.

He said: "I thought the set was one of the best I've done. Although I was scared, I was gutted to come off stage. The crowd were great."

Fans will also be disappointed to hear the abrupt end to Paul's set put paid to a surprise duet with his Oasis pal Liam Gallagher.

A source said: "Paul and Liam had spoken about doing a duet during the day and Liam was watching Paul's set from the side of the stage ready to come on at the end. Unfortunately it wasn't to be."

An official spokesperson for the event said organisers had no option but to pull Paul's set.

He said: "What can you do when you get an act of God like that? It was in the interest of everyone's safety."

Alan McGee Says Oasis Dig Out Your Soul Is Better Then The Beatles' Revolver

Turning 48 yesterday, I realised the only Creation band that I still get excited about is Oasis. And who wouldn't? The band contains two world-class songwriters, and two great ones, and their new release Dig Out Your Soul is truly tremendous. It's as if they have re-imagined their discography and made their true follow-up to What's the Story Morning Glory, completing the elusive and perfect rock'n'roll trilogy that began with Definitely Maybe.

The music world needs Oasis at this moment, a band with more personality and more amusing quips than any British band for at least 10 years. Throughout their history Oasis have captured the pop zeitgeist (and my personal zeitgeist) as a band that combine the best elements of the Beatles and Sex Pistols to emerge as this generation's Rolling Stones.

"Better than Morning Glory", has become many a critic's meme when reviewing post-Morning Glory Oasis albums, thrown into reviews in a random fashion as a desperate bid to return the band to the halcyon days of old. You know what? Dig Out Your Soul is the best Oasis album since What's the Story Morning Glory. Easy.

The signs were good when I met up with the Gallagher brothers last year in Los Angeles. We discussed music and, curiously, Noel told me how much he liked Glasvegas. I was surprised that he had heard of them at that point. The evening fell into typical Oasis debauchery: hanging out with Brody Dalle and Biffy Clyro and ending up in a dub club in east LA with Oasis participating in a stage invasion. The surreal nature of being Noel Gallagher must be bizarre. Noel, at his best, writes songs about pure escapism, northern ambition and transcending class culture, all in rock'n'roll Technicolor. The question is: "What do you do when you've achieved all your dreams?" You return to your youth and get back to who you were.

Dig Out Your Soul works because Noel has returned to the original inspiration of his youth for his songwriting. Definitely Maybe was about their dreams of rock'n'roll stardom, Morning Glory was about achieving the dream, Be Here Now was the coked-up aftermath, now Dig Out Your Soul is a glance to a psychedelic yesterday, again. For me, the past four post-Morning Glory albums never captured the magic of the first two. Songs from the past five albums had moments of pop reverberations and incredible songwriting, but were never complete statements. With Dig Out Your Soul, the notorious Oasis brothers have found their mojo. It's back, without a doubt.

Musically, it's a return to the grander ambitions and excess of before, with Noel stating: "But I kind of like fancy! I'd like to make an absolutely fucking colossal album. You know? Like literally two orchestras, stuff like that." Dig Out Your Soul is Oasis at their most baroque and Noel's pure pop ambition sits easily with his experimental side. The album oozes with confidence, and great songs.

Maybe it is their the lucky seventh album? The Beatles and the Stones released Revolver and Beggar's Banquet respectively, both were album number seven, and Dig Out Your Soul is on a par of with both in terms of classic songwriting. Or maybe it was his musical peer Paul Weller who inspired Noel to turn his back on Britpop and take a more eclectic direction after Weller's own opus of 22 Dreams? Noel Gallagher has said that Shock of the Lightning was the only song that had "Oasis single status" as the rest is far removed from the sound of Oasis.

I love the decision not to make the album freely available to download, as the Charlatans and Radiohead have. Noel's decision to release the sheet music and lyrics is very Noel; not encouraging free music, but encouraging kids to pick up guitars, learn songs and YouTube them. Or forming a personal army of New York City buskers to perform Dig Out Your Soul - and why not?

These songs are fantastic. From the opening Bag It Up, with the "freaks coming out through the floor", capturing the sound of drug psychosis; the Buffalo Springfield raga glam-stomp of Get Off Your High Horse Lady; the street-fighting vibe of Waiting for the Rapture, the Left Bank psychedelic baroqueness of To Be Where There's Life; the Dear Prudence lift on The Turning - Dig Out Your Soul is the sound of one of Britain's greatest bands at play.

Liam's soulful vocals are utter gems, no longer the one-take hooligan of before, he plays it like a psychedelic Elvis, underpinning the tracks with a commanding presence. Noel's vocal turn on Falling Down is one of the best tracks he has ever sang on. It is subtle, haunting, and full of pure Noel Gallagher magic.

I understand that openly admitting to liking Oasis is inviting confrontation, but you know what? Being an Oasis fan is never having to say I'm sorry. And I'm not. Leave saying sorry to the Coldplay imitators as their era of bedwetter music is over. It's only Glasvegas and Oasis for competition in this country. If you are in a band and are not artistically competing with the creative rock'n'roll genius of Oasis or Glasvegas, it's time to just stop and get off the treadmill. This is how rock'n'roll should be done in the United Kingdom today.

Oasis Fan Storms Stage

British rockers Oasis were at the centre of a second security blunder after a crazed fan stormed the stage at a Spanish festival.

Last year (08) guitarist Noel Gallagher was hospitalised with three broken ribs after a man ran onstage and shoved him into monitor speakers in the middle of a gig in Toronto, Canada.

During their set at Benicassim on Thursday (16Jul09), a female fan stormed the stage desperate to get close to the band, but this time security managed to step in before any damage was done.

A witness tells Britain's Daily Star Sunday: "She ran on to the stage, punched and kicked security and even crawled under the stage. At first there were just two guys guarding the band but they called for back-up and in the end it took ten burly bouncers to get rid of her."

Jay-Z Is On A Mission

Jay-Z is so scared of his new album leaking onto the internet he will personally deliver the disc to the boss of Atlantic Records in London next week.

The thought of naughty pirates profiting from his hard work isn’t something that best pleases him.

Quite right too.

The Blueprint 3 will undoubtedly sell buckloads.

A source told me:

“Jay is looking forward to showing off the fruits of his studio time and decided the best thing to do was take the album himself to London.

“Everytime a big artist has new music ready these days someone some- where is always keen to pinch it and whack it on the internet.

“Jay is very protective and smart and doesn’t want fans to hear tracks which aren’t quite right.

“He wants to give the record to the label in the UK and see which songs go down best to give him
ideas about single releases.”

Jay, 39, will be in the Big Smoke the same week as Oasis play the iTunes Festival at Camden Roundhouse.

After a very public spat with Noel Gallagher, 42, over his headline slot at Glastonbury, I wonder if Jay will take the chance to pop in?

My source said: “Jay is going to be busy with a number of meetings, so chances are he’ll want to unwind with a bit of a party.

"But he’s more likely to be caught in a West End club than anywhere near an Oasis show.

“Still, if Noel extended an invite maybe it would be a good opportunity to bury the hatchet.”

Oasis Have Fun In The Sun

Oasis had so much fun in the Spanish sun they decided to hang around for an extra day.

The rock lords put in an impressive shift headlining the first day of the Benicassim festival, which is staged between Valencia and Barcelona.

But when it was time to jet off, the lads decided to stay on so they could hang out with Mod legend Paul Weller, who is also on the bill at Benicassim.

A source said: "Oasis's equipment flew out straight away. But Liam and Noel decided not to accompany it. Liam has repeatedly said what a good time he is having and decided to turn the trip into a mini holiday.

"Paul is one of Liam's heroes and he was gutted he thought he was going to miss his set.

"In the end both he and Noel decided to miss the flight. They have been touring so extensively and they just wanted to relax."

The band will be back on stage tonight when they play the Gurten Festival in Switzerland.

Taken From Noel's Tour Diary For Oasisinet

Benicassim? What a fuckin' waste of time! If it wasn't for those bloody kids it would've been a disaster. I really can't say enough about the crowd. Unbelievable behaviour. Special mention to the topless birds - what a welcome sight that was!

The problem was...wait for it...yes! The fuckin' PA. It blew TWICE!! And the monitor system blew TWICE!! It's becoming a joke. And not a very funny one.

Those little lads from The View joined us backstage for warm beer. Now, I'm down with the Scotch. Irie Nancy's one. So is The Mighty I (effectively). No problem with them. But what that lot were going on about I'll never know. Had to get James from Glasvegas to translate. He was none the wiser.

Weller's up there tonight. Some of us are going to see him. It'll probably get pretty messy.

Off to Berne in the morning. That's in Switzerland.

I've got nothing else to say.

In a bit.
