Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere

Fuck! Forgot about you. Where were we?

That festival in Germany was pretty fuckin' mad. It was in an old disused coal mine. All the old machinery had been preserved and turned into a mad gothic industrial landscape. I imagine it's what the inside of Marilyn Manson's head looks like.

Gig was great. Kasabian were..actually, I didn't even see them, I was doing interviews.

Back in London now. Playing The Roundhouse tonight. Then off to Japan in the morning.

I'm fucked. Hope I'm not getting that swine flu.

In a bit.

GD.

Oasis At The Roundhouse

The iTunes Festival gig saw the Mancs return to form with Liam Gallagher getting lairy and Noel Gallagher trying to calm the moody frontman down

Mark Twain once said: "I have been through some terrible things in my life – some of which actually happened."

Oh, how it applied to Liam Gallagher last night. Whether he was arguing with an enemy in his head, or one in the crowd, only he knows.

The touch paper was lit before they’d even kicked off with Rock 'n' Roll Star, with Liam furious that a punter had thrown a beer in his general direction, sniping at the "soft lad" in the "pointy shoes" for his misdemeanor.

"Well, well, well," said Noel, once Liam had stormed off following Waiting For The Rapture. "I think someone is in a bad mood." The Masterplan punctured the tension.

There are few things more entertaining than watching someone else throw a hissy fit, and it made for compelling viewing. After all, this was classic Oasis: them smashing out the hits, Liam throwing a paddy. How delightfully retro.

"Is anyone here from Camden Town?" he sneered following Slide Away. " F***ing prove it," he added, before spitting into the crowd as the band launched into What’s The Story Morning Glory. Liam, it must be pointed out, lives in Hampstead.

There was something deliciously ironic about the whole affair: Liam wanted to give the impression he was reticent to play, yet gave punters exactly what they wanted. He couldn’t have been on better form: his vocals were note perfect - all spite and no strain – while the band were tight as ever.

"Why don’t you come here, posh bloke?" he sneered at his supposed nemesis, arms outstretched, adding for good measure : "F *** ing fat bloke."

By, fittingly, My Big Mouth, we had Liam sitting down by the drum kit in protest, refusing to go on, leaving Noel’s backing singing as the only vocal.

"We’ll let Liam take a deep breath," reasoned Noel.

As long as there is Liam there will always be fireworks. And who doesn’t enjoy watching those go off?

Liam Storms Off Stage After Beer Throwing At Gig

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher stormed off a London stage last night after pints of beer were thrown at him.

The volatile frontman went Awol at the Roundhouse in Camden, leaving brother Noel to take the microphone for almost half an hour instead.

A radio station broadcasting the gig had to apologise to listeners for Liam's bad language moments earlier.

Liam, 36, was apparently furious at the crowd for hurling their drinks towards the stage, blaming 'students' in 'stupid pointy shoes'.

After telling them, 'I hope you feel as uncomfortable as I feel', he stalked off - leaving Noel to step up and say: 'I think someone's in a bad mood.'

The younger Gallagher's absence left his 42-year-old brother to perform The Masterplan.

Liam, inset, eventually returned but spectators said the two Gallaghers, famed for their feuds, were staring daggers at each other for the rest of the performance.

Oasis were performing as part of July's iTunes Festival at the legendary venue in North London.

The band has a history of turbulence when on the road.

Liam turned up several days late for a US tour in 1996, claiming he was house-hunting with then girlfriend Patsy Kensit.

The group also cancelled a Paris gig in 2000 after another row.

And at several of this month's gigs, the pair have argued over Liam's demands that fans stop waving their arms and clapping along to songs.

Fearne Cotton And 'Legendary Oasis' Booed By Bloc Party At iTunes Live Gig

Bloc Party instigated a chorus of boos for Oasis and TV presenter Fearne Cotton during their set at the iTunes Live festival in London's Roundhouse last night (July 21).

The London-based outfit, who have been criticised by the Manchester band in the past, took aim at Oasis, who are set to follow them at the same venue tonight (22).

Frontman Kele Okereke triggered the booing after joking about Fearne Cotton, who had been doing TV links earlier in the gig, but had been heckled herself for mentioning the Gallagher's band.

"What was it that Fearne Cotton said?" Okereke mockingly asked the crowd. "Are we 'looking forward to the legendary Oasis?'"

Oasis Chief Says He Wouldn't Play Gig For Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo may be richer than God after being flogged by Manchester United to Real Madrid for 80million quid.

But Oasis chief Noel Gallagher reckons the winker still couldn't write a cheque big enough to get him and Liam to play a private gig in the Spanish capital.

On Monday Ronaldo told Bizarre he rated the Manc legends more highly than The Beatles.

He said he would love to invite the Gallaghers to see Madrid take on rivals Barcelona in La Liga at the Bernabeu stadium as his guests.

And he added: "Perhaps they could put on a little private concert in Madrid?"

Offer

I predicted the lads, whose hits include D'you Know What I Mean, would have none of it because of their devotion to Man City.

But when I grabbed Noel at his band's sell-out iTunes Festival gig at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London, last night, I was surprised to hear otherwise.

Mr Big told me: "There's only one Ronaldo! I always knew deep down inside him somewhere there was impeccable musical taste.

"I'll be taking up his offer of tickets for the Madrid versus Barcelona game. I'm not sure whether even he could afford us for a gig though!"

Noel also wasn't bothered about the Portuguese winger saying he was unapproachable because "artistic types are like that".

Flaunting his Scally roots, he said: "I'm from the artistic capital of the North."

Mr Big may be a fan, but Ronaldo is about as welcome as a bad smell in a spacesuit in Manchester, Liverpool and most of the rest of England.

His defection from United angered their loyal fans in Kent.

Passion

All rival supporters of the Old Trafford side loath him with a passion and England fans reckon he's a wee cheat after the 2006 World Cup.

But I reckon Ronaldo would find a safe haven round at Mr Big's house.

Give it two years and the megabucks owners of City will probably break the bank to buy him anyway.

Then he'll get his dream of a private gig with the Gallaghers.

Ronaldo Has A Pop At The Beatles But Loves Oasis

Hell will freeze over before former Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo wins a popularity contest in Liverpool.

But the Portuguese winker has further cemented his place in the Merseyside bad books by blaspheming The Beatles.

Ron, who this summer signed for Spanish giants Real Madrid, reckons OASIS are a far better band than the Fab Four.

He said: "Liverpool have The Beatles and Manchester have Oasis. I think we (Manchester) have the better band.

"I have all the Oasis albums but my favourite track by far is Champagne Supernova. It's an absolute classic.

"One thing I will miss about Manchester is Oasis.

"I will be honest, I didn't even know who they were when I first arrived in Manchester, but you can't live there long without knowing who they are.

"The lads in the dressing room loved them, especially the English boys.

"When I came to England I was into my techno, but I think Oasis are one of my favourite bands now."

Even the fact Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher are Man City fans does not bother Ronaldo.

He said: "Nobody is perfect - and you have to say they do make quality music.

"I saw them around town a couple of times but never spoke to them. They didn't look that approachable but sometimes these artistic types are like that.

"I am sure they are very nice. I know they are touring at the moment but I have not been able to catch them.

"Perhaps I could invite them to a Madrid v Barcelona match and they could put on a little private concert in Madrid?

"I liked their accent - a real Manc accent."

I'm sure Noel and Liam would have something to say about that, which sounds like "Cook off, you winker".

LiveAmp Brings V Festival, Oasis Directly To Your iPhone

V Festival sold its final ticket to the last reveller weeks ago, so if you were thinking about getting your hands on one, sadly, that ship has sailed.

There is still a glimmer of hope though, perhaps in the form of a good 'ole competition (there must be someone giving tickets away somewhere?). But if trawling the web for ticket givaways sounds like your idea of hell, there is another way.

The Absolute Radio LiveAmp app for the iPhone sympathises with your desire to hear Snow Patrol and Oasis take to the stage for their headline sets, by offering you the chance to listen to their entire gig on Absolute Radio live and uninterrupted.

Unfortunately, there'll be no live visuals of the sets themselves, but there is still exclusive video reviews, pictures and a live V Festival Twitter feed to help you get over the fact that you're not experiencing it in person, all in exchange for 59p.

Alternatively, if you have managed to bag yourself a ticket, why not use the service to get the low-down on the latest V festival info - who knows you may even turn up in one of the pics?

Taken from Noel's tour diary for oasisinet.com

Hello. Seems like the problems we experienced at that Benicassim were, in the grand scheme of things, minor irritations. The next 2 days were cancelled. High winds caused chaos, by all accounts. There was a massive, massive fire on site. Weller only played half his set before he was pulled off (not like that, you filthy little twat!).

No such troubles up in the Alps here in Switzerland. The fezzies here run like clockwork. Bit nippy though. Didn't spoil the gig. It was really fuckin' good. Didn't see any other bands so nothing to report on that front.

Off to Germany today. Last festival of this little trip. Roundhouse on Tuesday. Then off to Japan/South Korea on Wednesday.

Kasabian are on the same stage as us today. Should be fun.

In a bit.

GD.
