Oasis Win Best Album Of The Past 30 Years At The Brits!

Oasis' album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' won the award for the best album of the past 30 years at last night's Brit Award ceremony at Earl's Court in London. Liam was on hand to pick up the award.

'(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, 4.2 of which are in the UK alone.

The number one album marked the band's first UK number one single with 'Some Might Say' and features live favourites such as 'Roll With It' and 'Champagne Supernova'. It also contains the singles 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger'. 'Wonderwall', released in 1995, was the band's 8th single in the space of 18 punch-drunk months that saw the band rise from noisy Manchester lads to the most talked about band in the world. These two songs, amongst so many others, have come to define Noel Gallagher's ability to write stadium-rousing anthems, something anyone who caught the band live can testify to.

The Brit Award category was voted for online by the public. The category was open to the best-selling, 'Best Album' winners from the past 29 Brit Awards to celebrate the Award's 30th birthday this year.

Oasis would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for them.

Cheers!

Noel Gallagher Mocks Liam's Brit Award Throwing

Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher has mocked his younger brother Liam's antics at The Brit Awards last night.

Acting typically cocksure, Liam threw Oasis' 'Brit Awards album of 30 years' gong into the crowd after picking it up at the Earls Court ceremony.

Leaving Home House in London at 4am this morning where he had been partying with Noel Fielding, Kasabian and Freddie Flintoff, Noel took a swipe at Liam.

In an effeminate voice, Noel did an impression of Liam in front of photographers saying: "ohh look, I've dropped my microphone!"

Liam Gallagher's Class A Drug Rant On ITV2

Liam Gallagher sensationally announced he was going to take Class A drugs straight after an interview he had on ITV2 – unbeknown to him he was still live on air.

The bad boy of Oasis was still in a temper after being called a ‘knobhead’ on ITV’s Brits Awards 2010 by host Peter Kay, just after he collected the award for Brits Album of 30 Years.

Liam, 37, made a spectacle of himself when he accepted the award – thanking everyone but snubbing his own brother Noel – and then preceding to throw not only the microphone into the screaming crowd but his Brit award too.

ITV were forced to make a broadcasting break as the fowl-mouthed singer couldn’t resist adding some ‘f*****g’ words into his speech.

Backstage when the hot-headed singer was being interviewed, he said: ‘I don’t know if we deserved it because there has been loads of great albums over the last 30 years.’

But the real shock came when he openly declared: ‘Now can we go and take loads of Class A drugs?’

The interview swiftly ended but it was too late as audiences had already heard the shock statement.

Liam Gallagher Throws Oasis' BRIT Award Into The Crowd

Liam Gallagher Throws Oasis' BRIT Award Into The Crowd At London ceremony...

Liam Gallagher threw Oasis’ BRIT Award into the crowd tonight as he collected the honour on behalf of the band at the ceremony in London.

The group, who split last year, won BRITS Album of 30 years for their 1995 album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’.

Appearing as an unexpected guest, Liam thanked the members of Oasis who worked on the record - except for his brother Noel.

He then proceeded to walk to the front of the stage, where he threw the award into the crowd.

Gallagher’s reaction prompted host and comedian Peter Kay to brand him a “knob head”.

The band’s 1995 album beat records by Dido, Duffy and Phil Collins to the award.

Oasis split last August following the departure of guitarist Noel. Both brothers are currently on the verge of launching solo projects.

The ceremony, at Earls Court, has so far seen prizes handed to Dizzee Rascal, the Spice Girls and JLS.

Jay-Z Wants To Meet Oasis

Jay-Z has offered a truce to Oasis - saying he wants to meet them.

A war of words broke out between the star and Noel Gallagher over the rapper's headline slot at Glastonbury in 2008, but now Jay-Z has heaped praise on the rockers, who broke up last August.

"We have had our words in the past but the fact is they were one of the biggest bands in the world and you don't become that big unless you are making music of the highest quality - if they ever got back together, I would really like to meet them".

Abbey Road Studios Is Up For Sale

Recording venue made famous by the Beatles album set to fetch £10M plus

Abbey Road, one of the world's most famous recording studios, has been put up for sale.

According to the Financial Times, owners EMI are reckoned to want tens of millions of pounds for the St John's Wood site, nowadays less favoured than before thanks to the rise of cheaper computerised recording techniques that don't need Abbey Road's luxurious line in space and equipment.

Made famous by the Beatles' album of the same name with its iconic cover featuring the four members of the group striding across an Abbey Road zebra crossing, the studios has hosted a rock and roll call of seminal moments that chart the history of UK pop music.

It was at Abbey Road in 1958 that Cliff Richard recorded Move It, Britain's first rock and roll single; during the 1960s the Beatles created the bulk of their albums here; in the 70s, it gave birth to one of the biggest selling LPs of all time, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and in more recent years the likes of Duran Duran, Blur, Oasis and Radiohead have all made music at Abbey Road.

Though most well known for its link with rock's gentry, Abbey Road is big enough to hold an orchestra and has been used by plenty of classical musicians, going back to its first year in 1931 when Sir Edward Elgar and the London Symphony Orchestra recorded Land of Hope and Glory within its walls.

Unfortunately for any would-be buyer, the zebra crossing, which is right outside the studios, isn't part of the deal.

Now a tourist-photo favourite, the picture of John, Paul, George and Ringo remains one of the most memorable album covers ever made. When Abbey Road was released in 1969, the fact Paul was the only Beatle to go barefoot for the shot fuelled rumours he was dead.

Robbie Williams: 'Oasis Deserve Brit Award'

Robbie Williams has claimed that Oasis deserve to win the special one-off 'Brits Album of 30 Years' at the Brit Awards.

The 'Bodies' singer has put his support behind the group's 1995 LP (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, which is up against records including Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head and The Verve's Urban Hymns.

"Of the potential winners Oasis definitely deserve it. It's been my favourite album of the last 30 years," he told The Sun.

"You can't argue with how fantastic that album is, and if it wins it deserves it."

Discussing his past rift with the 'Wonderwall' band, he added: "We've all grown up a bit so there won't be any trouble."

Further albums up for the prize include Dido's No Angel, Dire Straits's Brothers In Arms, Duffy's Rockferry, Keane's Hopes & Fears, Phil Collins's No Jacket Required, Sade's Diamond Life and The Man Who by Travis.

Williams will pick up the 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' prize at the event, which takes place at London's Earls Court tomorrow.

Johnny Depp Gave Noel Gallagher His White Rickenbacker 330

Johnny Depp has starred in a string of critically acclaimed blockbusters, but his personal career high was playing slide guitar on the song Fade In-Out Oasis album “Be Here Now.”

Depp even gave Noel Gallagher a guitar during the recording session, which he often plays at concerts now. Johnny said, “The guys are pals of mine, and I was in the studio when they put down Fade In-Out so they let me play lead slide guitar. “We did it in one take, too. I gave Noel Gallagher a white guitar as a gift and he often uses it in gigs. “You’ll know it’s mine because it has the letter ‘P’ on it.”

The guitar Johnny gave to Noel is a Rickenbacker 330.

P was a short-lived American alternative rock band formed in early 1993 by Butthole Surfers frontman Gibby Haynes (vocals), actor Johnny Depp (guitar/bass), actor Sal Jenco (percussion), and songwriter Bill Carter (guitar/bass). The band performed their first show at the Austin Music Awards in 1993 and released their eponymous album on November 21, 1995 under Capitol Records.

The Vatican's 10 Commandments For Good Listening

The Holy See's newspaper Saturday published its picks for pop rock paradise, ranging from Michael Jackson's album "Thriller" to Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" and the Beatles' "Revolver."

What L'Osservatore Romano calls a semiserious guide on the road to good music will take you to "Graceland" — Paul Simon's album made the cut. And it does get into the "Supernatural" by Carlos Santana.

The newspaper calls them classics to pack for a desert island. The other picks are David Crosby's "If I Could Only Remember My Name;" "Rumours" by Fleetwood Mac, Donald Fagen's "Nightfly," the U2's "Achtung Baby," and "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" by the Oasis.
