Noel Gallagher On Russell Brand And Ricky Gervais

Taken from a interview with Dutch magazine 'OOR' that is on sale now, thanks to The Doctor for the translation.

If you live outside the Netherlands you can buy the magazine from here.

Interviewer: Russell Brand or Ricky Gervais?

Noel: Russell, he's a good friend of mine and we see each other often. A much more interesting person. You never know what he's up to, just that you always have to watch him.

Interviewer: Last year I saw you on the comedy night of Teenage Cancer Trust with Russell Brand in The Royal Albert Hall. You gave a somewhat questionable look from the box.

Noel: Yeah, that's because I'm very involved in the Teenage Cancer Trust and Russell and Noel Fielding were hosting the annual comedy gala. However, they had not prepared anything, and it showed. It was a big mess. It was funny, but messy and sometimes a bit over the edge. At the end of it, Russell got this boy up on stage, and shaved his head. Bald. Which is kind of acerb in a hall full of people who are sitting there in the context of the fight against cancer among youngsters. But, like I already said, you never know what he's up to.

Another On This Day In Oasis History...

The videos below are from September 23rd 2008, when Zane Lowe caught up with the band to discuss a number of various subjects.

Noel Gallagher And Damon Albarn Are “Like Best Mates Now”

Former Britpop adversaries Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn are best buddies now, according to Blur bassist Alex James.

Speaking to Irish radio host Ray D'Arcy, Alex James said: "Ironically Noel and Damon are like best mates now. They go off and smoke cigars together. I think we realised we we're all on the same side eventually."

Damon and Noel had a rather rocky relationship (to put it lightly) in the 90s, as they were both the figureheads of Blur and Oasis respectively, two of the largest bands in the UK at the time. Noel famously said that he hoped Damon would "catch AIDs and die", and Damon accused both Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher of being bullies. However, the pair have buried the hatchet and even joined each other onstage earlier this year for a performance of Blur's 'Tender' - although Noel couldn't do so without getting one last dig in, saying that he only offered to join in because the song was "easy to play on guitar".

James also spoke of Blur's break up and subsequent reunion, saying: "It was 2003 when Blur really kind of stopped. And it had been 15 years of us doing the same thing, just the four of us. That's a long time. I think we just all needed to go off and do other things. We've all worked with other people. So when we come back to play together I think we do it just because we want to – there's no pressure… It's actually the best thing we ever did, splitting up."

He continued: "Back in 2009 when we got back together, they were the best shows we'd ever done. And I think we all thought that was a good place to leave it, maybe. Then we got the call to do this big show last summer to mark the end of the Olympics and I think we all felt we can’t really say no to that. It's such an honour to be asked. And it was so brilliant, we thought what's not to like?"

Noel Gallagher And Russell Brand On Xfm - Download The Podcast

He's back! Yes, Russell Brand has ended his exile from radio with a very special show in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Returning to his old stomping ground of Xfm, Russell is joined by his old team of Noel Gallagher, Matt Morgan, Trevor Lock and poet-in-residence Mr Gee for a special show to raise money for Xfm's fund for Teenage Cancer Trust.

In this very special podcast, you can listen again to the whole broadcast… They discussed many things: Shetland ponies being made to moonwalk, what sort of animal Russell would have sex with, and why Noel's kids battered an effigy of Russell's face.

Also, Noel Fielding dropped by to talk about being drunk at a gig to benefit alcoholics and David Icke confirmed that the Mighty Boosh man was NOT a lizard. Download the podcast right here.

100% minus VAT (83.33%) of the price of this download from www.audible.co.uk will go to Xfm's fund for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Xfm's Fund for Teenage Cancer Trust is an appeal operated by Global Charities, a registered charity in England and Wales (1091657) and Scotland (SC041475).

Russell Brand Takes Aim At Noel Gallagher

Noel Fielding and Russell Brand performed for the Teenage Cancer Trust at London's Royal Albert Hall last night (March 20) as part of a week of special shows organised by Noel Gallagher.

The chaotic show was introduced by the charity's founder Roger Daltrey, after which Fielding and Brand appeared as a double act called The Goth Detectives, inviting audience members to offer up mysteries for them to solve. The show culminated later in the evening with them giving a 'gothmakeover' to an audience member, cutting his hair and draping him in black.

During the show, Noel Gallagher made an appearance to talk about the charity's work. But he was also the brunt of many of Russell Brand's gags. Brand joked about how Gallagher took the mickey out of him "murdering" The Beatles during the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Brand then joked that at least he hadn't "dug up their corpses and made a career of it".

Brand also played a video recorded at Gallagher's house, which showed the singer's children punching a Brand face mask while shouting, "I hate Russell Brand!"

Brand also performed solo for a section of the show, as did Fielding, who performed as Roy Circles, the chocolate finger PE teacher character from his show Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy. Comedians Tony Law and Seann Walsh also played sets during the show.

The Teenage Cancer Trust shows continue tonight with Primal Scream. Kasabian play on Friday and Noel, Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Gruff Rhys appear on Saturday.

More On Noel Gallagher's And Russell Brand's XFM Show

The notorious dream team are back to celebrate the Teenage Cancer Trust dates...

Russell Brand is to return to Xfm next month... and he's reuniting with his old friend Noel Gallagher for a special series of shows to mark this year's Teenage Cancer Trust gigs.

The pair are to helm a new programme in the lead up to the week-long set of dates for the charity - the first time in seven years that they've worked with producer Matt Morgan and poet Mr Gee.

Noel told Xfm presenter and Sun columnist Gordon Smart: "Xfm asked me if I wanted to do my own radio show leading up to this year's TCT concerts. I said, I have a better idea. Why don't we resurrect whats-his-name's career? That hairy skinny-legged yogameister, Rustle Brand? Last seen shaming the nation at them Olympics…

"It'll be great to remind people how colossal me, Matt Morgan and Mr Gee were on that bloody show before 'Arthur' got us all the sack. Tune in and see if I'm wrong."

Russell told Gordon: "I miss radio. It was lovely when we did the show. It'll be great to get the old team back together."

This was the show that landed Jonathan Ross and Brand in trouble over the whole Andrew Sachs "Sachsgate" affair. Xfm is excited, ecstatic, pleased - and ever so slightly nervous - at welcoming the Brand/Gallagher team back into our studios.

Noel has curated this year's Teenage Cancer Trust dates, which include performances by Primal Scream, Kasabian, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon and an evening of comedy featuring Russell Brand, Noel Fielding and more.

The Xfm shows will make a fine prelude to an incredible run of gigs at the Royal Albert Hall.

It's going to be unmissable, and takes place in late March. The TCT shows start on March 19 and run through to March 24.

Noel Fielding: Noel Gallagher Should Join Me On The Comedy Circuit

Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding reckons Noel Gallagher should take up comedy now he’s left Oasis.

He believes Gallagher would be a hit – after being the butt of one of the 42-year-old’s jokes.

‘I think he should do a stand-up show,’ Fielding, 36, told MTV’s Gonzo End Of Year Review. ‘I remember bumping into him once and I was wearing a cape.

He was p***ing himself and said, “It’s not the fact you’re wearing a cape, it’s the fact that it’s a Tuesday. Who wears a cape on a Tuesday?”.’
