Wayne Rooney Listens To Oasis Before A Big Game

Wayne Rooney has revealed that Oasis, Bruce Springsteen and Cat Stevens - are among the singers who help fire him up for the big matches as he prepares to join the action at Euro 2012.

The England striker has selected 11 tracks to get him in the goal-scoring mood for the crunch game against Ukraine tonight. England face-off against the co-hosts and need at least a draw to progress to the next round of the tournament. He has posted a Spotify playlist on his Twitter account which shows him to have a heavily indie-based taste with pop music and even ballads making the cut.

Wayne, who had Welsh rockers Stereophonics play at his wedding, chose their hit Maybe Tomorrow alongside Springsteen's Streets of Philadelphia. Cat Stevens' Father and Son is a probable tribute to his two-year-old son Kai and Champagne Supernova by Oasis makes sure a flavour of Manchester is included.

Rooney has also released a moody video highlighting the highs - and lows - of his career to date ahead of his arrival in the tournament.

FULL PLAYLIST
Deacon Blue- Real Gone Kid
Arctic Monkeys - Riot Van
Stereophonics - Maybe Tomorrow
Bon Jovi - Its My Life
Oasis - Champagne Supernova
Cat Stevens - Father and Son
Damien Rice - Delicate
James Morrison and Jessie J - Up
Eric Clapton - Tears in heaven
Bruce Springsteen - Streets of Philadelphia
The Hummingbirds - Doesn't Really Matter

Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Sixty Five

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Yes comrades.

So . . . that England game was an epic encounter. Great atmosphere. Good laugh and all.

Caught an early flight the next morning with a load of glum looking swedes to Stockholm. Did a show at that Hultsfred Festival. It was ok . . . nothing more. Think the crowd enjoyed it more than I did which really is all that matters innit? Legged it straight off stage to a waiting private jet what took us to Denmark.

Somewhere along the way my suitcase had an accident. It looked like it had been run over by a tractor when it finally got to my room. Shampoo everywhere!!! A right fucking mess. The festival in Denmark was an odd one. It seemed like it was in the middle of a housing estate. Cold, windy and grey. The rain came later. The gig itself was mega. Don't know why . . . it just was. Left the stage to light drizzle. Snow Patrol had to deal with that though!!

Got straight in a car and off to Copenhagen for a day off. Didn't do much except somehow catch a bastard cold. Not feeling too clever at all. Off to Gdansk tomorrow. It’ll be my first ever time in Poland.

Looking forward to it.

ONWARDS.

GD.

Amorphous Androgynous remix will also feature as a b-side

Noel Gallagher has announced plans to release new single 'Everbody's On The Run' ahead of his UK tour.

The track, which opens his debut album 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds', will also feature a 15 minute Amorphous Androgynous remix of hit single 'AKA… What A Life!'. The mix follows the band's previous reworking of 'If I Had A Gun' which was retitled 'Shoot A Hole Into The Sun' and appeared on previous single 'Dream On'. Gallagher is currently working on an album with the band which he recently revealed to NME, will come out some time next year.

'Everybody's On The Run' is released on CD, 12 inch and in a digital format on August 6.

The former Oasis man has also made a video for the track, which is expected to surface in the coming weeks, featuring Noel as an LA taxi driver and a guest appearance by Hollywood based British actress Mischa Barton.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are due to perform at the Isle Of Wight festival this weekend alongside Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Pearl Jam before embarking on a UK tour in September.

Noel Gallagher will play:

Oasis, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols And More On List For Olympics' Opening Ceremony

The Sex Pistols’ song appears on a leaked list of music proposed for the ceremony on July 27, alongside some more notable classics.

The song includes the lines: “God save the Queen, the fascist regime...God save the Queen, she ain’t no human being” and ends: “No future, no future, no future for you.”
Use of the track, which was banned by the BBC when it was released in 1977, reflects an eclectic and controversial style to be adopted by Danny Boyle, the creative director, in contrast with that of the Golden Jubilee concert earlier this month.

The list also includes Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Relax, which was similarly banned by the BBC when it was released in 1984 on the grounds of its explicit lyrics.

Other music on the list of 86 tracks is more traditional, including patriotic favourites such as Land Of Hope And Glory, Jerusalem and the Dambusters March.

Tracks by the elder statesmen of British pop music are included, such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and David Bowie.

And there are classics such as London Calling by The Clash, Going Underground by The Jam, My Generation by The Who and Rudy by The Specials.

They come alongside more recent tunes such as the Sugababes, Push the Button, Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie and Adele’s Rolling in the Deep.

Rock acts such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, Oasis and Blur are on the list alongside rappers such as Rizzle Kicks, Tinie Tempa and Dizzee Rascal.

Classic TV and radio theme tunes include Eastenders, Coronation Street, the Archers and the BBC news and film theme tunes such as Chariots of Fire and the James Bond Theme.

Among the fun tunes listed are My Boy Lollipop and Tiger Feet, but there is no room for performers at the Diamond Jubilee Concert including Cliff Richard, Elton John, and Tom Jones.

The music will be mixed together by Underworld – DJs Karl Hyde and Rick Smith – at Abbey Road Studios and the pair have included their own dance music classic Born Slippy, which featured in Boyle’s film Trainspotting, as well as the Prodigy’s Firestarter.

Mr Boyle, 55, has already revealed that the spectacular will feature a Glastonbury-style “mosh pit” but an Olympics spokesman said: “We want the ceremony to be a fantastic surprise for the watching world, and we want the British public to be proud of it.

“There is endless speculation about the content – much of which is simply guesswork, as we are keeping the show under wraps.”

Robert Carlyle On The Difference Between Being A Rock Star And Being A Movie Star

Robert Carlyle the actor who appeared in the Oasis music video for Little By Little, has been speaking about the difference between being a rock star and being a movie star.

"With the rock star fans, it's really full on," he says. "I've been with the Gallaghers a few times, and the stuff from the outside ... I mean, you don't want to go walking down the street with them. I can go anywhere and get the recognition. People will sometimes stop you and shake your hand. And 99.9% of the time, it's lovely and nice. With these boys ... they just cannot do that. They will get mobbed."

Reved Up By Noel Gallagher

Reverend And The Makers comeback has been given a hefty push in the right direction with Noel Gallagher, 45, praising their new tunes as their best yet.

Top single The Wrestler is out this week ahead of the album @Reverend_Makers dropping on Monday.

Singer Jon McClure, 30, told me: “For Noel to have our back, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks – it’s like the Godfather behind you.

“He said we were amazing. To have people who we have looked up to when we first started making music recognise you, that’s better than selling millions of records. We’re in the best place we’ve ever been.”

Noel Gallagher Has A Ball With Chris Kamara Watching England At The Euros

The Oasis star is at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, to see England take on Sweden.

And he made sure he took along a huge banner for his beloved Manchester City who triumphed in the Premier League this season.

Noel, 45, larked around with our man Chris before kick-off.

The pals were seen swapping jokes and pointing at fellow England fans while their mates swigged beer.

Retired England midfielder Chris was feeling optimistic about the Three Lions chances.

He wrote in his column on Monday: “The Swedes have a star player in Zlatan Ibrahimovic but the rest of their team lacks the quality that France can boast.

“If I was Roy, I wouldn’t be too worried about them. We’ll have more of the ball and if we keep our discipline at the back, we should emerge with the win.”
