Are Bradley Wiggins And Liam Gallagher BFFs (Best Fashion Friends)?

The blossoming bromance between cycling hero Bradley Wiggins and his new, fellow sideburn-sporting friend Liam Gallagher has reached fashionable heights.

We hate to say I told you so - but here we go anyway: when we conjured a slideshow of fantasy fashion campaigns for Team GB's victorious Olympians post-Games, we thought Bradley Wiggins for Liam Gallagher's label Pretty Green would be a match made in mod heaven.

Now it turns out the two got on like a house on fire in real life at the GQ Awards earlier this week, with potty-mouthed Gallagher presenting 'Wiggo' with his Lifetime Achievement Award, and inspiring the ex-Oasis frontman to tweet: "Bradley Wiggins, cool as f*** LG'.

But the bromance has reached third base with reports of Tour de France champion Wiggins snapping up Liam's designs from his local Pretty Green store in Manchester, according to the Manchester Evening News (we wonder if Liam was so generous as to bestow Wiggo with a discount card?).

"Clothes are important, man" professed Gallagher when he talked to us about his line last month - and he's certainly doing something right with 11 stand-alone shops in the UK and expansion in Japan and Tokyo.

The sideburned duo must have clearly bonded over their love of musical 'Modfather' Paul Weller; Wiggins not-so-subtly styles himself on the rock legend while Gallagher's line Pretty Green takes its name from a song by Weller's old band The Jam.

The only forseeable thorn in this fashion friendship's side is Wiggo's six-season design deal with Fred Perry. Looks like Liam will have to wait a while to sign the lamb-chopped legend as his new front man.

Noel Gallagher's Spider Has Become A Local Celebrity

A venomous spider which shut down preparations for Noel Gallagher's Jersey Live festival appearance over the weekend (02Sep12) has become a local celebrity.

The green-fanged tubeweb spider was discovered in one of the rocker's guitar cases and prompted festival bosses to quarantine the backstage area over fears the arachnid could pose a threat.

The creepy-crawly was not as dangerous or exotic as feared, but it has become quite an attraction at Durrells Wildlife Conservation Trust in Jersey, where it now resides.

Expert Matt Goetz tells WENN, "It's a very common European spider but you don't often see it because it tends to hide under rocks and in logs.

"It isn't very dangerous. Depending on how big the spider is and how thin the skin is at the point of impact if it was to bite you, you would probably feel pain for about two hours.

"But it's quite a pretty spider and we have it in a little box. There has been a constant stream of people visiting us, wanting to see the spider that shut down a festival."

But the arachnid still doesn't have a name.

Goetz adds, "We're hoping someone will come along and adopt it and name it."

Liam Gallagher: "Russell Brand Is A Dick"

The Beady Eye frontman said that he had no interest in the comedian's relationships, including his recent 13-day romance with Geri Halliwell.

"Russell's a dick. I don't really care about any of his relationships," he told the Daily Star.

"All I know is anyone can do better than go out with him. I get on with Geri, she's all right.

"We've both got small dogs so we meet on Hampstead Heath sometimes."

Russell Brand is known to be a good friend of the musician's brother Noel Gallagher, with the comic "demanding" to be in one of his music videos.

Liam hung out with the Spice Girls after the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, where they both performed alongside Brand.

He said: "The Spice Girls were a lot better on the booze than I thought after the Olympics.

"They're not bad for old dears. They'll never outlast me though, no-one will. I'm not saying I'm a God, but I'm not far off."

Liam Gallagher Wants To Party With Prince Harry

Liam Gallagher has spoken of his admiration for Prince Harry and revealed plans for a drinking session with everyone's favourite member of the Royal family.

The Beady Eye frontman has spoken of his admiration for the flame-haired royal after seeing the prince naked in recently leaked shots of a Las Vegas party. Gallagher told The Daily Star that if he was Prince, then he'd be naked and drunk all the time.

"I'd like to party with Prince Harry. He's cool," he told the tabloid at the GQ Awards. "If I was a ginger prince and third in line to The Throne, I'd get p***ed and naked every night. Just for the hell of it.

He does add however, that he's a better drinker than Prince Harry, saying: "I've never got so bladdered I've got naked though. I can handle my booze."

Gallagher was at the awards to present Olympic medalist Bradley Wiggins with a Lifetime Achievement award.

"To be in this company with so many faces, including Ashley Cole right down there in front of me, it means a lot," said Wiggins at the event.

"It means a lot to be presented with this award from Liam. I grew up with Oasis."

Astronomers Have Made Oasis' 'Champagne Supernova' An Actual Thing

When Oasis debuted "Champagne Supernova," there was much debate over the song's strange lyrical imagery—and specifically, over what the hell a "champagne supernova" is supposed to be. Noel Gallagher himself has often claimed that even he doesn't know, that it's more about emotion anyway. But now, thanks to University of Oklahoma astronomy and physics professor David Branch, the "Champagne Supernova" has some factual scientific grounding, so shut up: Branch took the name that once only applied to special Britpop feelings and elaborate drug cocktails and gave it to a recently discovered, mysterious type of star explosion.

If you're into meticulously detailed science stuff, you can read all about the researchers' findings here, but suffice it to say that Branch chose the name "'Champagne Supernova' since extreme explosions that offer new insight into the inner workings of supernovae are an obvious cause for celebration." (The article doesn't specifically mention that Branch was inspired by the Oasis song, but come on.) Branch will now begin determining the physics behind how someone can be walking slowly down a hall, yet simultaneously be moving faster than a cannonball. [via io9]

On This Day In Oasis History...

Definitely Maybe was released on DVD on the 6th of September 2004 to mark the tenth anniversary of its original release. It went triple platinum in the UK.

The DVD featured an hour-long documentary about the recording of the album featuring rare and contemporary interviews with the band and its associates.

Also included was the album in its entirety, which included "Sad Song", which was originally only released on the UK vinyl version of the album and also on the Japanese CD edition. Other content included live and TV performances of the albums twelve tracks, and the promo videos to "Supersonic" (UK & US versions), "Shakermaker", "Live Forever" (UK & US versions), "Cigarettes & Alcohol" and "Rock 'n' Roll Star".

A limited-edition release in the UK and Ireland included a bonus DVD containing more live footage and anecdotes.

There was also an accompanying made-for-TV documentary, entitled There We Were, Now Here We Are...: The Making Of Oasis. This was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK at 11:30pm on Friday, 3 September , three days before the release of the Definitely Maybe DVD. The programme combined existing and unused interview footage from the DVD documentary and focused on the origins of the band, and the four singles from Definitely Maybe.

It also included a very rare clip of "All Around the World" performed live at a rehearsal session in the Boardwalk in 1992, five years before it was eventually recorded and released on Be Here Now. The DVD received the NME award for Best Music DVD.
