Liam Gallagher, Paul Weller And Paul McCartney Attend Magical Mystery Tour Premiere

Liam Gallagher, Paul Weller and Paul McCartney last night attended the premiere of a restored version of Magical Mystery Tour at The BFI in London.

Gallagher was accompanied by his son, Gene and his Beady Eye and former Oasis bandmate Gem Archer.

Also in attendance was Beatles producer George Martin's son Giles, who tweeted: "First screening of magical mystery tour, I sat next to Paul. It sounded fantastic- well I didn't get prodded so I think we got away with it!"

A project spearheaded by Paul McCartney, Magical Mystery Tour was a TV movie that largely baffled audiences on its first screening in December 1967. The newly restored film, alongside a new documentary, titled Arena: The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour Revisited, featuring previously unseen footage of the band, will show on BBC2 this weekend (October 6).

As a teaser to the documentary, The Space, a digital arts service from the Arts Council in conjunction with the BBC, have put some extra footage of the 1967 film shoot online. In one piece, The Beatles visit a fish and chip shop in Taunton

Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Seventy Seven

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Yes comrades . . . we cool?

Now, the last time we spoke I was getting ready for a show in Taipei, (that's in Taiwan). It was grey, wet and miserable. Not the gig . . . that was great. Very enthusiastic crowd spoiled only by the obligatory fat English idiot relentlessly shouting out random song titles. I'm not really sure what the point of all that would be. I'm not likely to suddenly come to the conclusion that actually all these songs I'm playing and have been playing for . . . hmm . . . I dunno . . . A FUCKING YEAR might actually not be very good and . . . oh yeah . . . I totally forgot about that song "I Will Believe” . . . shall we do it now . . . RIGHT NOW!!?!?!?!!?!?! Great night all the same.

Left town the next afternoon, just before a typhoon arrived. There'd been a warning the day before. It was a bit touch and go whether the plane was gonna be able to take off. I'm not sure what's worse in those situations . . . spending another night in a hotel or trying to fly home through the front end of a typhoon? The locals didn't seem to be too bothered, so off we went. It was a fairly bumpy ride I have to say, but we arrived home safe and sound. Which is more than could be said for our bags what didn't arrive home until 2 days later. Barely had time to unpack before we had to leave again for Germany which is where you find me now. In Dusseldorf..or "doozle-dorf" as your local would say. You ever heard of that band "Dusseldorf"? Kind like that other band "Neu"? If kraut rock is your thing check 'em out.

Anyway I'm bored of this now.

IN A BIT.

GD.

Liam Gallagher 'Would Reform Oasis Tomorrow', Says Bonehead

Beady Eye man is up for a reunion, according to former Oasis guitarist.

Liam Gallagher would reform Oasis "tomorrow", according to former Oasis guitarist Bonehead.

The only thing stopping a reformation, the guitarist tells NME in this week's issue, which is on newsstands now or available digitally, is Liam's brother Noel.

"I'm sure Liam would do it in a shot tomorrow," he said when asked if Oasis would reform any time soon. "But you've got to listen to what Noel says. He's not up for it, why does he need to? He's flying around the world, isn't he?"

He added: "He's doing well, so why would he need to? Like he said the other day: 'Biggest band in the world? Been there, done that'. He doesn't need the money, so I can't see it."

Bonehead – aka Paul Arthurs – was a founder member of the band and played rhythm guitar with them until 1999. He is now recording a new album with his band Parlour Flames.

One Direction's Liam Payne On Meeting Liam Gallagher

One Direction's Liam Payne has been speaking about meeting Liam Gallagher after the Olympics closing Ceromony in London earlier this year.

The singer said "I met Liam Gallagher. When I was younger and I started doing karaoke, the song my dad would choose for me to sing was (Oasis' hit) Wonderwall. I used to stand on the mic with my hands behind my back pretending to be Liam.

He came up to me and said, 'You're Liam, aren't you? That's a nice name.'" "I had a good chat with him, he was funny to (my bandmate) Niall Horan.  He called him 'a little Irish f**ker' or something. We just had a good laugh with him."

Former Oasis Guitarist Bonehead To Release Parlour Flames Album In February

Former Oasis rhythm guitarist Bonehead has recorded an album with his new band Parlour Flames, which is now set for release in February of next year.

The band consists of Bonehead and Salford-based singer songwriter and poet Vinny Peculiar. Speaking about the record to NME, Bonehead said that there were "a lot of trumpets" on their 12 track debut LP and that it was made up of "psychedelic based art rock." He added: It's really quite melodic, it's accessible, the lyrics are genius I think... There's tons of influences in there, that's the beauty of me and Vinny, we sort of brought both our influences in there. We throw them in a pot and they just come out".

Bonehead added that Parlour Flames will be playing a handful of shows before Christmas, including The Kings Hall in Herne Bay on November 30, before taking a full band out on the road for a lengthier tour in January of next year.

Bonehead, aka Paul Arthurs, played rhythm guitar in Oasis from 1991-1999. He left during the recording of the band's fourth album 'Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants' stating that he wanted to spend more time with his family. He was replaced in the band by Gem Archer, who now plays with Liam Gallagher in Beady Eye.

Since leaving Oasis, Bonehead has played in Moondog One with The Smiths' Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke. He also DJs and has presented a radio show on BBC Radio Manchester.

Liam Gallagher To Appear On 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' Next Month?

Cycle star Bradley Wiggins has signed up for his first TV presenting job since winning the Tour de France and gold at the London Olympics.

The champ will be showing off his sideburns as well as his autocue skills as guest host on BBC 2’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks next month.

Bosses are also trying to get Liam Gallagher on the same show because of the pair’s instant bromance at the GQ Awards last month, where Liam presented Bradley with a special Lifetime Achievement gong.

When the Beady eye frontman was asked what makes a great man, he said: “Obviously someone who, like, y’know gives his missus a foot massage every minute of the day and takes the dogs for walks and puts the dishwasher on and, like, you know, wins gold medals at riding a bike really fast.”

Last night Liam let his son Gene stay up late on a school night when he took him to see the spruced-up re-release of The Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour in London.

Judging by the clobber the lad’s wearing, Liam might be bringing out a junior version of his Pretty Green clothing range.

That parka is worthy of Weller – or Wiggins.

Noel Gallagher Fan Helps Out Folks

Folks have Noel Gallagher’s “stalker” to thank after they were left stranded at a service station in Germany.

The Manchester band were supporting the former Oasis man when they suffered a freak incident on the road.

But they were rescued by a Noel obsessive before launching into an impromptu booze-fuelled car park set of Oasis covers.

Speaking after Folks’ Biz Session, guitarist Michael Beasley said: “Our van driver snapped the key in the ignition and we got stuck at a service station for 12 hours.

“Luckily they sell beer so everybody was getting f*****-up. Then one of Noel Gallagher’s stalkers turned up in this Oasis-emblazoned car.

“He offered to assist us. He got all these guitars out of his car and we ended up doing an Oasis tribute gig in this car park for three hours.

“He was more than helpful to the point where you think, ‘This is a bit weird.’

“But we took him back to our hotel and allowed him into the soundcheck for Noel’s show in Munich. Noel was alright about it.”

Singer Scott Anderson added: “We spent 11 hours with him. He was very nice. He’s coming on holiday every year with us now.”

Folks have supported such acts as The View and Miles Kane on tour so far – but the banter they shared with Noel is still fresh in the memory.

Not least because of their Manchester footie rivalry.

Michael recalled: “We’re all Manchester United fans so there’s a bit of a rivalry because he’s a City fan, of course.

“The first time we played with Noel was at the Roundhouse in London just before Christmas.

“City had just beaten us 6-1 so he was giving all the lads grief. Then he came up to me and said, ‘What about that? F****** 6-1!’

“I said, ‘Dude, I’ve had f****** 20 years of success with United. Feels good doesn’t it?’”

However, the songwriter/guitarist left Noel scratching his head one drunken post-gig night in Paris.

“There was a band playing that would perform any song that you asked for,” he said.

“As is customary, Noel had the first choice of song and he chose the Kinks. Then he looked at me and said, ‘You choose now.’ I was a bit p*****. I’m like, ‘Can you play Mother by John Lennon?’

“He came up to me and said, ‘It’s a f****** party – and you’re asking for a song about your dead mother!’”

Watch two exclusive acoustic tracks performed live here.

Oasis' (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? Is One Of Britain's Biggest Selling CD's Ever

ABBA, Oasis and more recently Adele have the biggest selling albums on the CD format in British history, according to new figures issued by the Official Charts Company.

ABBA’s greatest hits collection ‘Gold‘ has amassed 4 million sales on CD, enough for a relatively comfortable lead over Adele, who is in second place thanks to her record ‘21‘, which has amassed 3.5 million sales on the format since its release early last year.

One further place back is Oasis’ landmark second LP ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?‘ which, despite being released in 1995 when sales on vinyl and cassette were still in their prime, has enjoyed 3.4 million CD sales.

Meanwhile, Coldplay and Robbie Williams have the distinction of being the two artists to have more than one album in the Top 30, with the former’s first three releases all making the rundown, and the latter’s ‘I’ve Been Expecting You‘, ‘Sing When You’re Winning‘ and ‘Greatest Hits‘ placing at #25, #26 and #27 respectively.

On This Day In Oasis History

(What's the Story) Morning Glory? is the second album by the English rock band Oasis, released on October 2 1995. The album went straight to #1 in the UK, selling 347,000 copies in its first week. (What's the Story) Morning Glory? spawned four hit singles in the UK, two of which were #1s. It sold over 19 million copies worldwide, including over 4.3 million copies in the UK, 14x platinum, and is currently the third biggest-selling album in UK chart history. Morning Glory has gone 4x platinum in the United States In addition, the singles "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova" went Gold in the United States.

The album, which was recorded in less than two weeks, contains arguably the band's two most famous songs, "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger", along with "Champagne Supernova" and their first UK #1 single, "Some Might Say".

In 1997 Morning Glory was named the 5th greatest album of all time in a 'Music of the Millennium' poll conducted by HMV, Channel 4, The Guardian and Classic FM. In 1998 Q magazine readers placed it at number 8, and in 2000 it achieved the same position in Q's list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. The editors of Q magazine declared it the "album of the decade" in 1999. The readers of Q placed it seventh on the 2006 top 100 greatest albums of all time list. In 2003, the album was ranked number 376 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

History

The success of Morning Glory catapulted Oasis from being a successful Britpop band to being one of the biggest bands in Britain, with substantial international fame, and considerable press coverage in the mainstream and music press. The band played several massive open air concerts in the UK during 1996, which included two nights at Knebworth in front of a combined audience of 250,000 people (125,000 each night), with over 2.5 million applying to buy tickets.

08: "Cast No Shadow" – 4:52
09: "She's Electric" – 3:40
10: "Morning Glory" – 5:03
11: Untitled (aka "The Swamp Song - Excerpt 2") – 0:41
12: "Champagne Supernova" – 7:27

Notes:

* Tracks 6 and 11 are officially untitled. In fact, the track listing bears no title whatsoever for these songs, merely a blank space.
* The excerpts from "The Swamp Song" are parts of the instrumental B-side to the "Wonderwall" single.
* The vinyl LP edition of the album features a bonus track, "Bonehead's Bank Holiday". This song appears as the 7th track on the album, immediately after the 43-second untitled track.
* "Step Out" had to be removed from the album at the last minute. The song, sung by Noel, was intended to have been the original track 8 (after "Some Might Say" and before "Cast No Shadow"), but was removed as the chorus was similar to the chorus of Stevie Wonder's 1965 track "Uptight (Everything's Alright)". Wonder's publishing company were alleged to have demanded a substantial amount of royalties from the album which Oasis weren't prepared to pay, so the track was removed, although not before the first promotional copies of the album had been released with "Step Out" included. The track was eventually released as a B-side on Oasis' 1996 single "Don't Look Back in Anger", with an amended song writing credit of 'Gallagher/Wonder/Cosby/May', and was included on the live album Familiar to Millions.

Miscellanea

"Hello" contains elements of Gary Glitter's "Hello Hello I'm Back Again" as Liam jokingly sings part of the song's chorus when the song begins to fade out.

On the cover of the album a man is seen brandishing what looks to be a vinyl record in its sleeve. This is in fact the master tape for the album. The man in question is Owen Morris, the producer. The photo was taken on Berwick Street in Soho, a London street well known for its independent record shops. The other man is BBC London's Sean Rowley.
