Liam Gallagher On Harry Styles, Liam Payne And The Current Crop Of Guitar Bands

The Oasis legend has hit out at young bands today, saying their guitars are merely accessories.

Liam Gallagher has pledged to "counteract the bulls**t" of modern music.

Speaking to Dave Fanning for RTE2FM, the 44-year-old singer  has promised to challenge the "beige dribble" being spoken by younger rock stars and has also accused them  of barely being distinct from pop musicians.

He explained: "I love music as much as anyone. What I see going down  is that I'm just 'leave it out mate, you can do better than that'. I can't tell a guitar band from a pop band these days. They've got  guitars around their necks, but I don't hear guitars.

"You hear all these bands saying that they're coming back to save  guitar music. I might not be the smartest tool in the shed - but I know you've got to put a guitar on a record to save guitar music and I don't hear any guitars.

"They've got guitars around their necks because they go with their shoes!"  The former Oasis singer said he will create some "aggro" for the younger stars, accusing them of being boring and lacking passion.

He also likened modern-day musicians to soccer managers who hide behind cliches, rather than offering honest opinions to their fans.

Liam told Dave Fanning: "That's what I'm back for. Bit of aggro to  counteract the bulls**t. That's what I'm here for and to speak my mind. You read these interviews with so-called rock stars and they  need to get off the fence.

"Nothing interesting ever comes out of their mouths, it's just beige dribble. They're afraid to open their mouths in case their little career falls apart, so they just sit there like those football  managers and say the same thing. Come on, give us a bit of passion."

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has hit out at Liam Payne's solo career so far.

The former Oasis man has praised Harry Styles once again, while hinting at a distaste for Payne's chosen musical direction.

“I can spot a fake a mile off and Harry Styles seems like he wants to bring real music and change his direction," Gallagher told The Sun On Sunday.

However, then hinting at Payne - who recently released his debut solo single Strip That Down - he added: “At least he’s not gone rap like the other one. How did that happen? Did they flip a coin and he said, ‘Listen, I’m doing the rap one'".

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher is preparing to make his first UK festival appearance at Glastonbury this weekend.

One Direction's Liam Payne Thinks Noel Gallagher Is Sad

Noel Gallagher's recent trashing of the boyband has really got on Liam Payne's goat, so much so that he has declared that the Wonderwall hitmaker is "sad".

The Oasis legend took a pop at One Direction and fellow stars Adele and Ellie Goulding during a rant about the current state of the music industry. He even went as far to describe Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson as "c***s***ers"

Speaking about the comments on BBC Radio 1's Superstar Playlist Payne accused Gallagher of being two-faced after a recent friendly meeting.

"The funny thing was, I met him the day the story came out," he said. "I didn't know it was coming out, and he came up and said, 'All right, mate? How are you doing?'

"I was like, 'Fine thanks, mate. Nice to meet you'. The next day I read the story and thought, 'How sad is that?' He completely dissed us. Nice to diss your fans, isn't it?"

He added: "It's sad because they genuinely led me to a path of singing. That's something they should be genuinely proud of."

"They don't think before they speak. You never know who was a fan of your music. Especially when you were as big as they were. Do it with grace. Good old Noel, bless him.

"I had to have a moan about that at some point. I'm over it."

Video: Liam Payne Sings Oasis’ “Wonderwall”

Liam Payne performed Oasis’ hit song “Wonderwall” over the weekend while out in Monaco, just a few weeks after Noel Gallagher dissed One Direction. Watch a clip of the performance below!

Payne serenaded fans with his karaoke version of the rock song as bystanders recorded the impromptu performance on their camera phones. “I don’t believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now,” the singer crooned. He invited fans to sing along as the crowd cheered him on.

Over the past week, Payne has been enjoying himself while vacationing with his girlfriend Sophia Smith, as One Direction fans continue to eagerly await the group’s next album. As Gossip Cop reported, the British star recently described their upcoming songs as being “a bit Oasis-y, almost, which is ace. Love that.”

Payne’s tribute to Oasis is sure to delight Gallagher, who as Gossip Cop previously reported, said last month that Zayn Malik was a “f*cking idiot” for leaving the group. That comment came less than two years after Gallagher slammed the band for putting out “banal pop music.” “F*cking idiots,” he told Gossip Cop reported he told British GQ. “Bless ’em. Bless ’em, but f*ck ’em at the same time.”

Noel Gallagher 'Cannot Wait' To Hear Oasis-Inspired One Direction Album

Noel Gallagher has finally reacted to news that One Direction's fifth album will sound a bit like Oasis, and his response may just surprise you.

Believe it or not, the famously grouchy musician “cannot wait” to hear the boyband's first offering without Zayn Malik because he's intrigued to learn exactly what they mean by “Oasis-y”.

“What if it's brilliant though?” Gallagher told HuffPost Live. “What if it's amazing?”

Liam Payne revealed last week that work on 1D's next album is “coming together really well” and will boast some “great, great songs”.

“It's kind of like a bit Oasis-y almost, which is ace. I love that,” he told Capital. “The songs have come out a bit more chilled because I think we want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime.”

Whether or not Gallagher will join the devoted Directioners upon hearing the new songs remains to be seen, but one thing he “doesn't agree with” is streaming.

“I'm on it. I'm not going to be the only person stood outside the sweetshop, banging on the window spitting," he said, before being reminded that Taylor Swift has already pulled her music from Spotify.

“How is the world going to survive that? Are we going to send in the UN peacekeepers to wherever she lives and make her change her mind?" Gallagher joked. “I feel frightened that Swiftie has done that."

One Direction Fans Slam Noel Gallagher On Twitter

Noel Gallagher is not a One Direction fan. That much we are pretty sure of, because he just won’t stop slagging them off.

The former Oasis star seems to blast the young X Factor singers in every interview he gives and most recently he’s not only criticised their music, but their musical genre as a whole and it sounds like he’s pretty wound up about the whole thing!

We can always count on the Wonderwall to be outspoken and controversial and in a new interview with GQ magazine, he turned his attention to the industry and radio sector, blasting:

“[It’s] pretty f**king dreadful, the music is. I can’t get my head round pop music. It’s all on the same frequency.

“It all seems designed to aggravate my teeth. You know music that makes your teeth hurt.”

Turning his rant towards Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson in particular Noel continued:

“Everybody’s winning out of it. One Direction aren’t working in the local f**king Costcutter, so they’re winning.

“The geezer who’s writing the f**king s**t tunes – he’s winning. He’s got f**king new houses coming out of his earholes.

“The record company are winning – ‘cos they’re all getting their f**king bonuses at Christmas.”

If you are a Directioner, or the parent of a Directioner then you might want to look away now because he took his insults to a whole other level, adding:

“The young 12-year-old girls are winning because one day they might actually grow up to give one of them a blowjob. They’re all winning. No-one’s losing.”

Noel’s Twitter mentions quickly filled up with messages from users who didn’t like his comments at all.

Tweets sent to the singer and guitarist included:

“I hate when people like Noel Gallagher slag off pop music. It makes people happy and doesn’t change the fact nobody likes your latest album.”

“Ok I like Oasis but serious can Noel Gallagher stop he’s just being an arse I don’t care if you hate One Direction stop being a knob”

“I have no respect at all for noel gallagher, horrible man”

Noel Gallagher Blasts Radio 1 And One Direction

It’s news to absolutely nobody that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher – of Oasis fame – don’t hold back on their criticism and acerbic barbs, and in today’s Sun, it’s been reported that this week, it was Noel’s turn to fire several blasts across the bows of Radio 1, One Direction and the music industry in general!

In an expletive filled interview with GQ magazine, Noel began by lambasting Radio 1, remarking, “There’s a lack of soul on Radio 1…

“I mean, what’s going to be the future of chart music?”

Branding the station “pretty f****** dreadful” he added, “I can’t get my head round pop music.

“It’s all on the same frequency. It all seems designed to aggravate my teeth.

“You know music that makes your teeth hurt?

He added, “Everybody’s winning out of it.”

And of One Direction – who are of course Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne – Noel said, “One Diretion aren’t working in the local f****** Costcutter, so they’re winning.

“The geezer who’s writing the f****** s*** tunes, he’s winning. He’s got f****** new houses coming out of his ear holes.

“The record company are winning because they’re all getting their f****** bonuses at Christmas.

“The young 12-year-old girls are winning because one day, they might actually grow up to give one of them a b*** job.

“They’re all winning. No one’s losing.

“The only people who are losing are idiots like me at 9.30 in the morning when you’re trying to get the kids out the door for school, and they’re f****** murdering one of Blondie’s songs.”

Noel Gallagher Gets All The Attention From The Ladies At Post-Brits Party

Of all the hot guys that attended the Sony Music post-Brits party (Harry Styles, Labrinth, Liam Payne and Louis Smith to name a few) we never expected Noel Gallagher to be the one who got all the attention from the ladies.

But attention from the ladies he got, as these pictures prove! Lily Allen couldn’t wait to give the High Flying Birds star a kiss on the red carpet at the party, and DJ Jo Whiley was also keen to get in on the action.

We can’t decide if it’s Noel’s music talent they’re after, or his incredibly-sized cranium.

Noel attended the party – hosted by Sony Music for the music stars on its label – with his wife Sara McDonald, who managed to grab her hubby for at least one picture. We'd like to think she was showing Lily and Jo who's boss!

One Direction's Liam Payne On Meeting Liam Gallagher

One Direction's Liam Payne has been speaking about meeting Liam Gallagher after the Olympics closing Ceromony in London earlier this year.

The singer said "I met Liam Gallagher. When I was younger and I started doing karaoke, the song my dad would choose for me to sing was (Oasis' hit) Wonderwall. I used to stand on the mic with my hands behind my back pretending to be Liam.

He came up to me and said, 'You're Liam, aren't you? That's a nice name.'" "I had a good chat with him, he was funny to (my bandmate) Niall Horan.  He called him 'a little Irish f**ker' or something. We just had a good laugh with him."

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds release International Magic Live At The O2 DVD through Sour Mash Records on October 15.

They will embark on a number European dates before they tour the US and Canada alongside Snow Patrol and Jake Bugg.
