On This Day In Oasis History...

Oasis played arguably the best gig of the 'Dig Out Your Soul' tour at the Riverplate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 3rd 2009.

The stadium is Argentina's national football stadium and venue for the 1978 World Cup final.

Also known as 'El Monumental de Nuñez', the iconic stadium is the biggest stadium in Argentina for concerts.

Noel Gallagher Celebrates Manchester City's 3-2 Win At Goodison Park

Some might say that even in a list of celebrity fans that includes Ricky Hatton, Alan Carr and his own brother, Noel Gallagher is still definitely (maybe) the most famous die-hard Manchester City supporter.

The former Oasis songwriter was at Goodison Park on Saturday to watch his beloved Blues roll with it as they edged a committed Everton side 3-2 to take a step closer towards reclaiming the Barclays Premier League title they last won dramatically in 2012.

The importance of being idle was lost on the High Flying Birds frontman as he mingled with supporters and rose from his seat to celebrate Sergio Aguero's opener and a brace from Edin Dzeko that takes City top of the table, level on points with Liverpool with a game in hand.

Damon Albarn Says Blur's 'Country House' And Oasis' 'Roll With It' Were 'Both Shit'

Damon Albarn has revealed he thinks that Blur's 'Country House' and Oasis' 'Roll With It' were "both shit".

The two tracks went head-to-head in the UK Official Singles Chart in August 1995 – in a chart battle which has now become a symbol of the two bands' rivalry in the Britpop years. Blur ultimately hit the Number One spot.

Writing in a RedditAMA for Dazed Digital, Albarn revealed that he now thinks that both tracks were not any good.

Albarn recently told NME that making an album with Noel Gallagher is a "distinct possibility" in future.

"I still see Noel from time to time. We text a bit," Albarn said. When asked if the pair would be making a record together, he replied, "I can imagine that being a very distinct possibility at some point in the future. But, as yet we haven't really talked about it, although…"

Albarn continued: "OK we have a little bit. We're talking. It's not anything to get excited about yet. I mean, he's doing his thing. He's finishing a new record. I've got my record coming out, but the principle of us making music together is something…you know, it would be fair to say, we have discussed it at least once."

Damon Albarn released his debut solo album 'Everyday Robots' yesterday (April 28).

Noel Gallagher: 'I'll Reunite Oasis For Half A Billion Pounds"

Noel Gallagher has joked he would reform Oasis for £500 million – or 500 million condoms.

The singer made the comments when appearing on Talksport last night (April 28), as reported by Digital Spy.

Asked about the speculation over an Oasis reunion, Gallagher said: "I was in the newsagent the other day when the story broke and the Daily Star said, 'Oasis to get back together for £500 million', which is half a billion."

I'd do it for half a billion anything: Yorkshire Tea bags, condoms, Pot Noodles.

Rumours of a Gallagher brothers reunion began to spread after Liam Gallagher tweeted the letters O A S I S and a further tweet which read "OASIS LG" last Thursday night (April 24). Bookmakers Paddy Power and Ladbrokes then suspended betting on the possibility of the band reforming and headlining Glastonbury, where the final headliner is yet to be revealed.

However, Ex Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs told NME Gallagher's tweets may have been posted simply because the former bandmates went out for a drink together. Asked what Gallagher's tweets could have meant, Bonehead said: "Probably the fact that I texted him going, ‘Meet me in the beer garden’. That probably rattled his cage. Maybe that. I don’t know though, because I meet him every fucking month. Maybe he’s just reminiscing."

Blur frontman describes class rivalry between the two bands as "insane".

Damon Albarn has said that while Oasis and Blur were always rivals during their Britpop heyday, Noel Gallagher held the upper hand in the press.

He also discussed the division that many fans saw between northern, working class Oasis and southern, middle class Blur.

Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, the Blur frontman said: "The whole class thing was just insane," says Albarn, growing suddenly animated even after all these years. "But we were young and we let ourselves get caught up in it. And the competitiveness was ridiculous for a while, but, you know, I was never gonna beat Noel in a war of words."

The pair have recently become friends and collaborators, and Albarn recently told NME that making an album with Gallagher is a "distinct possibility" in future.

Noel Gallagher Rules Out Oasis Glasto Re-Union

Noel Gallagher says there is more chance of him and his ex-wife Meg Matthews getting back together than Oasis reforming to play Glastonbury this summer.

Andy Goldstein of talkSPORT had speculated on the chances of a reunion yesterday, tweeting: "I just text Noel asking about the chance of reforming . . . his reply "There's more chance of me and my ex-wife getting back together" So no."

Official denial also came from Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis who also ruled out an Oasis appearance at Worthy Farm. A fan had asked Eavis to "Please deny that Oasis are playing Glastonbury before tomorrow's ticket resale" to which Eavis replied, "Oasis aren't playing this year."

Liam Gallagher had sent fans into a frenzy of speculation this week with a series of cryptic tweets about his old band, which seemed to suggest they were reforming to play Glastonbury.

Liam And Noel Gallagher Back On Speaking Terms?

Noel and Liam Gallagher are back on speaking terms.

The two feuding brothers and former Oasis band mates - who famously fell out backstage at a show in Paris in 2009 - are said to be slowly reconciling and it is seen as a ''baby step'' towards an eventual reunion for the group.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''The mudslinging has stopped but it's very much baby steps for the two as Noel wants to release his second solo record at the end of the year and tour that in 2015.

''Really that leaves 2016 open for an Oasis comeback - it really doesn't seem likely that it would be this year.''

There has been speculation the Britpop icons could be set for a reunion after Liam individually wrote a letter of the band's name every half an hour on Twitter, but his former Oasis and Beady Eye band mate Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs played down the rumors.

Asking what sparked his tweets, he recently said: ''Probably the fact that I texted him going, 'Meet me in the beer garden'.

''That probably rattled his cage. Maybe that. I don't know though, because I meet him every (expletive) month. Maybe he's just reminiscing.''

The musician then took to his own Twitter account to spell out the word ''PUB''.

Emily Eavis: Oasis Not Playing Glastonbury

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has tweeted to confirm that Oasis are not playing Glastonbury this year.

Bookies had suspended bets on the band playing after Liam Gallagher sent a cryptic series of tweets, using letters to spell out the name of his former band.

This year's Saturday headliner still hasn't been announced.

It's 20 years since the release of Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe.

Eavis confirmed the band wouldn't be appearing in a simple tweet, responding to someone asking her directly.

Gallagher's tweet could have been linked to the fact he was pictured this week with Oasis band mate Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs.

The pair apparently had a drink together, with Bonehead tweeting the word 'pub' in a similar style to Liam's message.

Arcade Fire and Kasabian are the headliners for the Friday and Sunday nights of the festival, held in Somerset at the end of June.

The Black Keys, Dolly Parton and Lily Allen are some of the other acts performing over the weekend.

Oasis To Reunite? Bookies Suspend Betting On Band Playing Glastonbury

Two bookmakers suspend betting on the group playing Glastonbury after several cryptic messages cause a storm on Twitter.

A series of cryptic tweets from former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has provoked a frenzy of speculation the band could reform.

He spelled out the band's name in a series of five messages on Twitter on Thursday night.

Gallagher followed this up with another tweet that simply said: "Oasis LG."

Many fans took the tweets as evidence the group is getting back together, and the messages have since between retweeted tens of thousands of times.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes and Paddy Power have suspended betting on the band headlining Glastonbury as a result.

Oasis, which included Liam's brother Noel on lead guitar and vocals, enjoyed worldwide success before an acrimonious split in 2009.

Noel quit after an altercation with Liam, bringing to an end one of the most famous and successful partnerships in British rock history.

It is almost 20 years since the release of the band's debut album, Definitely Maybe, which went straight to number one.

Last year, Liam said he would be willing to "bury the hatchet" and get back together to mark the anniversary.
