Noel has told XFM that he's playing less Oasis songs in his live sets now, admitting that "there's no point trying to be clever about this".
Noel Gallagher has promised to play "the big tunes" at his live shows, in favour of "obscure Oasis b-sides" that his newer fans won't recognise. "I've done enough gigs to know. There's no point trying to be clever about this," Noel told XFM's Jim Gellatly.
"Playing obscure Oasis b-sides - although they're great and I love them - there's like 11 people dotted around the arena going berserk. And there's 8901 people kind of just thinking: what's this?"
"If I go see Neil Young...I want him to play the bangers, do you know what I mean?...I want him to play the big tunes."
Noel also praised the line-up for T In The Park, where he'll headline alongside Kasabian and The Libertines.
"I looked at the bill for T In The Park and I would probably say out of all the festival bills I've seen, they've smashed it this year. They've got the Libertines, Kasabian and The Prodigy and dare I say it, myself on the same weekend is no mean feat.
"It's always great to gig in Scotland, no matter where it is...I'll bring my wellies and my tartan umbrella."
And Noel thinks that closing out the festival will bring its own joys - like reducing grown men to tears.
"I'm closing it aren't I? Sunday night...there's going to be some casualties there during The Masterplan."

BBC Radio 6 Music
Sunday 15th March at 13:00 (UK Time)
Listen live here.
Everyone knows the story. As the creative force behind Oasis, Noel Gallagher changed the face of British music. Their sound and his songs swept the nation up in their wake and helped inspire a whole genre, but will far outlive the world of Britpop that they helped define.
Now, as he prepares to release his second solo album Chasing Yesterday, Noel sits down for a special interview with Matt Everitt to kick off the new season of The First Time. Here Noel talks about his very first exposure to music (Country and Irish bands like Dermot Hegarty and Big Tom and The Mainliners as it happens) and how the anthems of the football terraces inspired his childhood.
He also chats about the impact of The Sex Pistols, The Dammed, Leo Sayer (honestly) and his passion for the holy trinity of The Smiths, The Stone Roses and The Jam (and he may well mention The Beatles)
He also looks back on the very first Oasis rehearsal ("Mindblowing") and gig ("Great"), the difficult birth of their debut album Definitely Maybe and the all important issues of what length your guitar strap should be. There's also his memories of meeting Paul McCartney (they shared a meditation bubble), what it's like becoming so famous that when you get a haircut it ends up on the front pages of the tabloids ("the whole business is one huge joke") as well as his realization that Oasis had come to the end of the road and his feelings about stepping up to become a solo artist.
And, as you would expect, he's as charismatic, honest and funny as ever.

'Falling Down' was a single released on March 9th 2009 by English rock band Oasis, featured on their 2008 seventh studio album Dig Out Your Soul. Written and sung by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher, it was released as the third single from the album and is also the final single released by the band with the digital release occurring a day earlier.
The song debuted at 10 in the UK Singles Chart.
"Falling Down" is the fifth Oasis single to be sung by Noel rather than Liam (not including "Lord Don't Slow Me Down"). It is also the second Oasis song to be used in a TV series (the first being "Half the World Away").
"Falling Down" posted a subtle improvement from its predecessor, "I'm Outta Time" on the UK Singles Chart, reaching #10 in its chart entry week. This was something of a return to form for the band, after "I'm Outta Time" charting at #12 made it the first Oasis single released in the UK to fail to reach the top 10 since "Shakermaker" in 1994.
Between the two releases the band had put out 22 singles which made the top 10.

However, it still showed a decline in the band's fortunes; from the release of "Whatever" at the end of 1994 until the release of "I'm Outta Time" the band had only had one single which failed to reach the top 4 in the charts, and that had been 2007's "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" which was only a minor promotional release and a non-album track and also download only.
The heavily compressed drum-rhythm and sense of disillusioned psychedelia bear a strong resemblance the Beatles song "Tomorrow Never Knows", being cited as Noel's finest effort so far to emulate the atmosphere of that song.
An excerpt of the B-side song "Those Swollen Hand Blues" appears at the end of "Mucky Fingers", second track of Oasis' 2005 album Don't Believe the Truth.
The lyric: "Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" references the quotation: "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" from Alexander Pope's "Epistle to Dr Arbuthnot".
The song was released as downloadable content for the video game Guitar Hero: World Tour on 29 January 2009.
The song was used in the opening sequence for the Production I.G anime Eden of the East, which first aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA timeslot on April 9, 2009.

Oasis
Sara Gallagher
"You are the Mexicans of Europe," said Noel Gallagher of the Glasgow crowd that erupted in merry chaos at his feet. The fiesta feeling was undeniable.
It is no secret that the squadron leader of the High Flying Birds loves to play in Scotland. After all, it was in Glasgow where it all began for Gallagher, back on a summer's night in '93 in the gloomy confines of King Tut's where Oasis landed their deal with Creation and went on to announce their rapture to the world.
His wife, Sara MacDonald, is from Edinburgh mind you, so perhaps he's under oath to enjoy himself.
That aside, there was no question over what the Hydro thought of the show.
Opening with 'Do the Damage' from new record Chasing Yesterday, Gallagher advanced through a delicious set with a haunch of new material, flavours of his solo debut and a peppering of Oasis numbers.
The atmosphere embraced the Hydro in a sweaty, beer soaked clutch of euphoria - one that all too often gets lost in the steel rafters of the cavernous venue.
And things went up a notch when he dedicated Oasis track 'Digsy's Dinner' to none other than Mr Kevin Bridges, who caught up with Gallagher after the show.
The man at the centre of the hurricane felt it too.
"It's just as well my next gig is in Manchester. It's the only place that could beat playing here", he said with a wry grin.
After the meandering solos of 'Champagne Supernova' the High Flying Birds took the crowd higher with perhaps the best thing that the Definitely Maybe architect ever wrote.
It was a workmanlike performance, but there wasn't any hint that Gallagher was going through the motions. The rest of the High Flying Birds are a seriously tight outfit, and a typically trippy lightshow added just the right amount of pizzazz.
Mind you, he could have walked out there on his own and stood on a soap box - the result would have been the same.
Only a nagging sense of melancholy for what once was still remains. Tracks like 'Lock all the Doors' are perfect for a sneering swagger that only one man possesses, and we all know who he is.
In the grand scheme of things though, it's a misgiving about as significant as a midgy bite, however itchy that can be...
He wished the crowd goodbye, and reminded Scotland that he would be back soon.
As the crowds filtered home, the words of Noel Gallagher continued to fly high up into the Glasgow night.
And what a night it had been.

Oasis
Noel Gallagher continued his UK tour at the SSE Hydro last night (7 March), promoting his excellent new album, Chasing Yesterday. Phones were held high, pints were thrown and songs were sung it was a typical Saturday night in Glasgow when one of the Gallagher brothers are in town.
13,000 fans packed into the world’s second-busiest live entertainment arena to hear a greatest hits from the two High Flying Birds albums as well as a handful of Oasis classics. And the singer/songwriter pulled out all the stops, turning up with his usual backing band as well as a trio of brass and the Crouch End Choir, who featured to great effect on the 47 year-old’s debut record.
The set kicked off with “Do The Damage”, the B-side to the lead single from Chasing Yesterday, “In The Heat Of The Moment”. “(Stranded On) The Wrong Beach” followed before the Crouch End Choir entered the stage for “Everybody’s On The Run”.
In a 20-song set, the highlights of the night were “Riverman” and a new arrangement of “Champagne Supernova”, again featuring Crouch End Choir. Each number saw the adoring crowd sing back every word. There was even a mention for his estranged brother, with Noel noting the number of parkas from Liam’s clothing label he’d seen in the city while doing a signing at HMV earlier on in the day.
A minor criticism of the evening were the acoustics. It seemed to take a few songs before the sound man really found the optimum but it seemed there were few who noticed.
I’ve seen Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds twice now, and having grown up watching Oasis it’s strange seeing him fly solo, but he carries it well. While much has been made of his latest album’s title, it was ironic that the biggest cheers of the night were reserved for the Oasis numbers most notably “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. It’s unsurprising given the influence that the band had on a generation. Yet over 20 years on we’ve still to see anyone make an impact in the UK in the way that Oasis did during the mid-90s, not just musically, but also culturally.
As I left the arena watching groups of fans singing “The Masterplan” to each other I couldn’t help thinking that perhaps it is in fact us, not Gallagher who are ‘Chasing Yesterday’.

Five Stars
For being rock royalty, Noël Gallagher certainly carries no airs and graces.
Appearing on stage in an understated manner with his High Flying Birds Mike Rowe, Jeremy Stacey, Russell Pritchard and Tim Smith, at the SSE Hydro on Saturday night, the songwriter presence was only realised by the sheer response of the crowd.
For once the Glasgow venue reached its potential with an atmosphere that sounded more like a football stadium.
That atmosphere could only be achieved because it was clear if God was a rocker, then he is Noël Gallagher with thousands of music fans worshipping at his alter and preaching his lyrics back at him.
Noël began his sermon bashing out fan favourites Everybody's On The Run and Oasis' track Fade Away.
The star then admitted his God like quality saying he felt like Father Christmas after attending his 'record store' signing in Glasgow before the crowd responded with football-like chants.
Lead track from new album Chasing Yesterday, In The Heat of the Moment amped things up.
And Riverman taken from that same album sounded just beautiful live.
Take a moment, listen to Noel's lyrics and you will realise he is one of the greatest songwriters of our generation - which is why he is a religion worth following.
Add to that the live experience of Noel rock in the original sense and you have a gig that you will never forget.
Even if it is just for his performance of Champagne Supernova alone.
The title of his latest album is perhaps poignant to many of the crowd who themselves are Chasing Yesterday still wearing their Mod inspired look and reminiscing about a Britpop movement that has sadly died a death.
But not if Noël has anything to do with it...the songs that made that era will continue to be played and evolved.
This is evident in the band's single If I Had A Gun, which he dedicated to his Scottish wife Sara McDonald.
And more evidence comes with an acoustic version of Don't Look Back In Anger, which was a highlight of the night.
Ending on a high with The Masterplan, even I have to admit, Noël I'm converted see you at T in the Park.

Oasis
Noel Gallagher has revealed that he once had the opportunity to meet Courtney Love but chose to hide from her instead, saying he couldn't handle the Hole singer's "rowdiness".
Speaking in the new issue of NME, which is on newsstands now and available digitally, Gallagher talks briefly about Love and admits that there is a reason the pair have never met.
"I read an interview with her once and she said, 'I can't fucking believe this. I know everyone in London and I've never fucking met Noel - was he hiding from me?' And the answer is: yes," he says.
Gallagher then continues: "I was in a studio in LA and we were in the back recording [2005 Oasis album] 'Don't Believe The Truth'. And reception called us as said 'Just to warn you: Courtney Love's just walked in. I knew Liam was running around in reception and I though, 'Brilliant, that's a fucking meeting of minds right there.' I could hear her shouting, 'Where's Noel? I gotta meet Noel!' So I grabbed a cig, exited out the back door and went straight back to the motel and locked the door. I was like, 'I can't be dealing with her rowdiness - fucking hell, no way.' But I applaud her."

Noel Gallagher ranks the best albums written by himself in this weeks NME Magazine, this is what he had to say on the subject:
1) 'Definitely Maybe'
"This sits f*cking colossally at number one because of the impact it had, and the ripples continue all the way to Francis Bean Cobain's f*cking iPad. You can't beat it. It was Oasis at it's most pure. It was the original line-up. Me and Mark Coyle produced it. it was f*cking great."
2) '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?'
"Because that f*cking made me a multimillionaire."
3) 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds'
"It's got better songs on it then 'Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants' and f*cking 'Heathen Chemistry', plus it will always be wrapped up in great memories for me. It was a moment in time. When I came to reheasing for this tour I had to go back and listen to it and I got upset, thinking 'fucking hell, it's a really good record.' In my canon it's f*cking right up there."
TBC) 'Chasing Yesterday'
"I Don't know. I won't get a handle on this until I've done the tour."
