Noel Gallagher On Performing With U2

Noel Gallagher has described teaming up with U2 at their London gig earlier this week as a "dream come true".

The former Oasis guitarist joined the band onstage during the band's O2 Arena show on October 26, performing their hit 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' before segueing into a cover of The Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love'.

Gallagher joined the Irish four-piece at the end of their two-hour-plus show on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, footage of which you can watch below.

"I'd like to bring out of one my heroes, one of the band's heroes to help us out with this next song. Will you welcome to the stage the high flying bird himself Noel Gallagher," Bono announced to the crowd before Gallagher took to the stage.

Now speaking to Audioboom, Gallagher said: "It was a dream come true to be asked to get up [on stage] with them and then it was a dream come true to be asked to sing that song ['I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For']."

"They're friends of mine. I've been friends with Bono for about 20 years. It was a great moment. I was stood in the wings and they were introducing me and I was thinking 'This is actually going to happen now, this is amazing'. They are one of my favourite ever, ever bands and that's one of the best songs ever written. It was a blast, a real honour."

Gallagher added: "I thought my catering was pretty good until I was at U2 the other night, which was honestly something else."

Noel Gallagher Hints At New Music From The Stone Roses

Noel Gallagher has suggested that there could soon be renewed activity from The Stone Roses.

The Manchester band reformed in 2011 after originally breaking up in 1996. They played a series of gigs around the world in 2012 and 2013, but have remained seemingly inactive for the past two years.

There have been rumours the band are working on what would be their third album, the follow-up to 1994's 'Second Coming'.

Appearing on Soccer AM on Saturday (October 24), the former Oasis guitarist was asked if he had "any idea what's going on with the Roses", to which he replied coyly: "Yes. I know exactly what's going on... They're blooming."

During the interview, Gallagher also stated that his next album (or "magic trick", as Gallagher referred to it) won't be finished until after his tour ends in April 2016.

He also said and "life is too short" to have a Twitter account.

Noel Gallagher's Is No Fan Of 'Pretentious Directors' And Twitter

Noel Gallagher has explained that he's come to accept music's great shift to online but that he still can't stand making music videos.

Gallagher, most famous for Oasis but now hugely successful as a solo artist, was typically forthright on Soccer AM about how the internet was taking some of the fun out of music.

"Yeah of course [it's taken the mystery out of music]," he said. "When Oasis started if you had heard about Oasis and you wanted to see them you had to go and see them.

"Now it's easy to tap into a computer, get on YouTube and have an opinion on a band in 30 seconds - whereas back in the day when we were all young-uns you had to go and be there didn't you?

Tweet-decked

"I'm not on Twitter, life's too short for that, but you've got accept [the internet's] the way you connect with young people - whoever they are.

"I like the internet - it's not what it's all cracked up to be, but it's alright."

Music videos are also considered a necessary evil by Gallagher - who admitted: "I can't stand them."

"In those videos you showed I look furious in all of them. They take all day and the directors are usually quite pretentious."

10 Things We Wouldn't Have If Oasis Were Never Signed

It's 22 years since Oasis first penned that legendary deal with Creation Records. Little did they know it was history in the making, although with their egos - they probably knew exactly what they were letting themselves in for.

For just a £40,000 advance, the Gallagher's and co inked a deal for six albums with Alan McGee and his rag-tag band of visionaries. They would go on to headline festivals, fill stadiums, shift millions of albums, provide the soundtrack of a generation and define an entire era of music. But there's much more to their legacy than the music.

To mark 20 years since Oasis first signed, here are 10 things that probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for Oasis - from haircuts and to headlines, Coldplay to The Killers and the childhoods of Alex Turner and Pete Doherty...

Noel Gallagher Complains He's Been Cut From Russell Brand Film 'Second Coming'

Noel Gallagher makes some typically acerbic asides as part of his contribution to the forthcoming documentary about his friend, Russell Brand, but now the Flying Birds frontman is complaining that he's been cut from the film.

Noel, who has contributed to 'Russell Brand: Second Coming' following Russell's transformation from Hollywood aspiring film star to London-based activist and author, told Metro earlier this week, "I'm assuming my bit is the best thing in it, which is why they cut it. I won't be going to see it."

However, the High Flying Birds frontman has got it wrong, with his bon mots on his friend's brief marriage to pop star Katy Perry remaining, as he says, remaining very much part of the film. And, as our clip reveals, some of his best lines have not been forgotten...

Noel, who used to appear regularly on Russell's radio show when he was still employed by the BBC, tells a story from when the comedian was freshly married to Katy, and phoned him, asking for advice on what to do if he and his new bride wanted to watch different channels on television.

The film's director Ondi Timoner followed Russell for the best part of two years, as he gave up his Hollywood life in search of something more meaningful, a journey that brought him back to London, to the corridors of Westminster, the streets of East London and into confrontation on 'Newsnight' as he shared his own history with drugs to campaign for decriminalisation, and then spoke about the need for revolution of the political process.

On This Day In Oasis History...

"Lord Don't Slow Me Down" is a song by Oasis. The song was released as a download-only single on October 21, 2007 in promotion of the release of Oasis' rockumentary of the same name, Lord Don't Slow Me Down.

On October 29, the song debuted at number ten in the UK Singles Chart, becoming Oasis' 21st UK top 10. It is also their 21st top ten single in a row. It is also the first single by Oasis not to reach the top 4 since 1994's Cigarettes & Alcohol.

In October 2006 the first part of the song was used in a preview of the band's movie. Written and sung by Noel Gallagher and recorded during the Don't Believe the Truth sessions, Gallagher described it as being "one of the best things, like The Who, The Yardbirds and the Jeff Beck Group combined, and it's got two drum solos on it!" The entire song leaked into the internet just a few days before the video was uploaded on YouTube and the song was played on the radio, on 1 October. The song was a probable track to be included on the band's last album, 2005's Don't Believe The Truth, but was removed from the final track list by Noel Gallagher, as he thought he sang on too many songs on the record. In May 2008 an unreleased studio version with Liam Gallagher on lead vocals was leaked over internet fansites.

This song is included on Dig Out Your Soul bonus CD.

Track Listing

1. "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" - 3:17
2. "The Meaning of Soul" (Live at City of Manchester Stadium '05) - 2:32
3. "Don't Look Back in Anger" (Live at City of Manchester Stadium '05) - 5:38
