Noel Gallagher Was Not At Manchester Charity Show Due To 'Longstanding Family Trip'

Spokesperson for the Oasis star previously said he would be unable to attend, despite fans hopes of a reunion with brother Liam.

Oasis fans were hoping the One Love Manchester concert at Old Trafford would see a reunion between the Gallagher brothers, but it was not to be.

Despite a surprise appearance from Liam Gallagher, who performed Oasis hits 'Rock N' Roll Star' and 'Live Forever' along with his new solo single, Noel Gallagher was unable to attend.

His absence was criticised by Liam who branded his brother a "sad f***" and apologised to Manchester on his behalf.

Representatives for the High Flying Birds frontman told The Independent he would not be making any further comment at the time of writing but pointed to his statement last week.

Before the event a spokesperson said: "Sadly, Noel will not be at the concert this weekend.

"He's been out of the country on a longstanding family trip since before the concert was announced and is unable to attend.

"Needless to say he is very supportive of the event and wishes everyone huge success on the day."

This likely won't do much to stop Liam Gallagher from venting on social media.

The morning after the One Love Manchester concert he wrote: "Noels [sic] out of the f***ing country weren't we all love get on a f***ing plane and play your tunes for the kids you sad f***".

Fans may have to hold out for that Oasis reunion just a little while longer, then.

Rumours of a reunion were sparked in-part after Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo tweeted a list of performers at the event and tagged Oasis. He quickly apologised and said that an error had been made.

Liam Gallagher, who has hinted recently hinted that he would be interested in reuniting with his brother, responded to the idea of Oasis reforming in an interview last week.

He told BBC Radio 1: "Everyone knows I love our kid. He doesn’t speak to me, we don’t speak to each other.

"I’ll speak to him some day. It’s all very sad, but we’ll get over it… I guess it musn’t be nice for my mum… If Oasis ever got back together… if they do, they do. If they don’t, they don’t.

"A lot of people go, ‘Oh, leave it in the past, you were great then’. Mate, if we ever got back together, it would be happening. There’d be no dodgey gigs, it’d be bang on. So there is unfinished business there, but we’ll see what happens. In the meantime, we’re two little solo boys doing our little things."

Liam Gallagher On Why Beady Eye Split Up

Liam's post-Oasis band split in 2014 after releasing two albums.

Liam Gallagher has opened up about the demise of Beady Eye, admitting the band had trouble “connecting”.

The younger Gallagher brother formed Beady Eye with bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock when Oasis split in 2009. The band released two albums, 2011’s ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ and 2013’s ‘BE’, before disbanding in October 2014.

Asked why he decided to end Beady Eye, Liam told The Guardian: “The last album we put out, that was the first album I’ve ever put out in America when we only did one gig for it. That got under my skin. We got asked to do Coachella, but apparently we couldn’t afford to go out there. I was like: ‘I’ll pay for us to go out there and once we’re out there we’ll do some gigs.'”

He continued: “Gem had hurt his head and I’d had my divorce, but the best place to be is on the road… Anyway, there were no gigs going down. So I thought to myself: ‘Maybe it’s just not happening, maybe it’s just not connecting.’ And then Andy got a call that he was gonna do his Ride thing, which was fine, but I thought: ‘You know what, I’m not sitting around.’ So I went: ‘Tell you what, go and do Ride and I think we should just call it a day.'”

Liam Gallagher Brings House Down With Surprise One Love Manchester Performance

The former Oasis frontman flew in straight from his show at German festival Rock im Park

Liam Gallagher brought the house down with a surprise set at One Love Manchester tonight.

The former Oasis frontman flew in straight from his appearance at German festival Rock im Park to perform at Ariana Grande's huge fundraising show at Emirates Old Trafford.

Liam opened his set with Oasis hit Rock 'n' Roll star before performing new solo single Wall Of Glass.

He was then joined on stage by Coldplay's Chris Martin for a tearjerking duet of Oasis hit Live Forever.

Chris, who is said to have persuaded Liam to come and perform at the show, was earlier accompanied by Ariana as they performed Oasis hit Don't Look Back In Anger.

The song has become an anthem of Mancunian defiance in the wake of the terror attack that killed 22 people after her concert at Manchester Arena on May 22.

The Courteeners led 50,000 fans in a mass singalong at Emirates Old Trafford last weekend - and the scene was repeated at the venue tonight as the crowds chanted along.

There had been frenzied speculation that Oasis might reunite at tonight's show after Black Eyed Peas star Taboo Nawasha tagged the band in a tweet setting out the line-up - before quickly backtracking.

Liam said he would be 'up for it' when asked if he would be performing but said it clashed with a slot at the Rock im Park festival in Germany.

The rumours were reignited earlier tonight by a tweet from The Sun's showbiz writer Dan Wootton, who said he had been told Liam would appear.

Liam Gallagher Says Working With Noel "Bores The Death" Out Of Him

Liam Gallagher has said that working with his brother Noel Liam Gallagher has said that working with his brother Noel "bores the death" out of him and has ruled out an Oasis reunion in the near future.

The rocker said he still is not in contact with his brother and former band mate, although he admitted he misses him and the fans and singing Oasis songs.

In an Observer Q&A with fans, Gallagher said he "can't see it happening" when asked about the group reuniting.

He said: "Never say never, I guess, but at the moment, if I get up and running on this solo thing, it certainly won't happen for a bit.

"Because there have been plenty of times that it could have happened and it should have happened and it didn't.

"I'd like it to happen, because I miss him and I miss the band and I miss the fans and I miss singing them songs.

"But it's in the lap of the gods, not Noel Gallagher, as much as he'd like to think he's a bit of a god, but he ain't ... 'Cos I've seen him coming for years.

"He thought that I was going to be down and out, and then he'd turn round and say: "Sorry about this, lads, but I'm going to have to put my wicked solo career on hold because I need to help my brother out."

"But I ain't f****** poor. I'm still standing."

Gallagher, who last week dropped his debut solo single Wall Of Glass, said: "No. It ain't happening, mate. When I think about it, being in a band with him bores the death out of me.

"He's changed, as a person. He's not someone I want to be in a band with. He's part of the establishment."

Earlier this week, Gallagher sent a happy birthday message to his estranged sibling on his 50th birthday.

He wrote: "Happy 50th rkid stay young LG x."

The public message prompted speculation among fans that they could reunite at Sunday's One Love Manchester benefit concert, which is being held to raise money for those affected by the attack at Ariana Grande's Manchester Arena concert nearly two weeks ago.

Gallagher, 44, said he would be working as a labourer or be "really badly into drugs" had he not got into music, adding that rock'n' roll saved his life.

He said: "So I'd have been digging or dead or really badly into drugs, which would obviously lead to being dead.

"Rock'n'roll saved my life. And I am forever in debt.

"I am forever in debt to rock'n'roll and I would never, ever think of doing another form of music. Ever."

Liam Gallagher Says He’ll Be Voting For Labour

Ex-Oasis frontman doesn't 'get involved' in politics but enjoys watching Prime Minister's Questions 'for the craic'

Liam Gallagher has indicated that he’ll be voting for the Labour Party in the upcoming UK general election despite not knowing the policies of leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Britain votes on June 8 with Corbyn’s Labour experiencing a recent surge in polls.

Speaking to Channel 4’s Jon Snow this week, ex-Oasis frontman Gallagher said: “I don’t really get involved [in politics]. I keep an eye on it. I have been partial to watch Prime Minister’s Questions just for the craic because I find them hilarious. I do try and see what’s going on but it sort of goes in [one ear] and out [the other].”

He added: “I was brought up in a Labour Party kinda house and that, so I’ll be voting Labour but that’s as far as it goes. I don’t really know what [Corbyn] is about… or the other one [Theresa May].”

Liam Gallagher Would Not Behave If Oasis Reformed

Liam Gallagher discussed the possibility of an Oasis reunion during a Channel 4 interview with John Snow yesterday

When questioned if he’s tried to push the idea of an Oasis reunion to his brother Noel he said.

“We have done that. I don’t think he wants it man, he’s up there in his solo world. He’s in charge of everything, if I get in the way, he can’t tell me what to do. I’m not a yes man, so I think he’s quite happy doing his thing. I’m not definitely not a yes man. So all these people going, ‘I wish you’d get back together,’ I’m ready to go man. So it’s all about him, I’m not putting the blame on him, but he’s the one that doesn’t want it.”

He said the feud between himself and his brother is hard on their mother Peggy.

“Yeah, for sure it is. I have kids, and when they argue and aren’t getting on, you feel the pain.”

When questioned if he is ready to bury the hatchet with Noel and reunite Oasis he said.“I can, because I don’t hold grudges.”

When asked if he could behave during an Oasis reunion, Liam said he would not behave.

“No, no. You’re not meant to behave in Oasis. I think that was the problem, all of a sudden he was like, ‘Woah, what’s going on here man? What do you mean you’re still drinking, smoking, and staying up?’ He pulled out this book like, ‘No no, we’ve got to behave now.’ That don’t work.

Behaviour and being in Oasis, no, doesn’t work, I would not behave. I would get the gigs done, but I would certainly be having the crack, that’s what rock and roll is about isn’t it? Having a laugh. Who wants to see people walk on stage and behave? That’s not what it’s about.”
