Liam Gallagher Hints Oasis Will Start Making Music Again

There is “nothing more” Liam Gallagher would love than to have a reunion of Oasis, the rock band he once fronted with his older brother Noel.

“I would love for us to be speaking about Oasis music, rather than a Liam solo album or a Noel solo album,” Gallagher said during an interview in Santa Monica this week to promote his upcoming solo album, “As You Were”.

Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis had its heyday at the height of Britpop fame in the 1990s, with hits such as “Don’t Look Back In Anger” and “Wonderwall”.

But the brothers’ famous feuds led to a split-up in 2009, after tempers flared at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, prompting Noel to quit the group.

“He thinks he’s the man and I think I’m the man, do you know what I mean?” Gallagher said, shedding light on the reasons for the breakup with a tag referring to the group’s 1997 album.

Gallagher held out hope for fans keen on reconciliation, however, saying: “Maybe one day when we get back to being brothers...the natural thing would be to make music.”

“I do love him, without a doubt. He’s my brother.”

Liam Gallagher On Life, Noel, Oasis, Skepta, America And More...

Liam Gallagher was interviewed by Zane Lowe yesterday and spoke about a number of subjects including Oasis, Noel, Skepta, Manchester, Ed Sheeran, on his album 'As You Were' and more.

On banter between him and Noel

"We don’t do it for the money, I did Oasis to make music and get out of Manchester and see what was going on out there. The most important thing that people keep missing is that me and our kid don’t speak and thats the saddest thing about it, two wrongs don’t make no right. So before Oasis get back to together and before this cheques knocking about, me and him need to start becoming brothers and friends again, and inevitably we’ll start making music. So there doesn’t matter how many noughts are on the end. I know you’ve heard it a million times, but its not about the money. We were the real deal."

“I don’t care about getting Oasis back together. He prods me and I prod him. I’m letting him know that I’m still here. I’m right here, I ain’t going away. I’m back and I’m here. For me music is about having a laugh, life is about having a laugh and everyone seems to be making a tune, thing a cheque and going back to their big houses. I find it funny taking the piss out of my older brother who thinks his s*** don’t stink. I find it funny."

On breaking America

“There’s a lot of great bands that don’t make it here. Its just one of those things. Maybe we were a bit too radish for them."

On Ed Sheeran

"He is talented. I don’t know much about him but he is talented.”

What do you do when your not out there doing what your born to do

"I moan, kick things, spit at things all sorts of things, swear a lot, kicking like a fence or an iron gate. I drink a lot, eat a lot, get fat, go for a run and try to chase squirrels to lose it again"

On 'As You Were'

Apparently its something to do with the military when you stand for attention. For me its back to doing what I do. As you were, back in business whether its successful or not. I am back to music and singing songs, so, as you were"

"I don’t see myself as a writer, I see myself as a singer first. I’m still learning, when I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror I just see a rock n roll singer with a dash of punk, and loads of charm. I don’t see myself as an Ed Sheeran or a Bod Dylan.”

On the last four years

“I needed time out. I had to get away from music. The last 4 years have been hell. I had to go cold turkey and get away in a room away from music. The only time I’ve really had off is the past 4 years. Its been good to have a bit of time off, get back for reality, go for walks and do stuff. You can’t be on stage all the time. I got my relationships back with my kids, all is good in the world. I’m bored of that now, I’m ready to get back on stage and do some screaming and shouting.”

“If you want to come and hear Oasis music done properly, come to my gig. Our kid (Noel) is doing them like Dolly Parton."

On choosing a Skepta track

“He’s doing well, apparently its the new kind of thing. Everyone keeps comparing me to him. He’s the talk of the town out in England right now."

Liam Gallagher On Being Asked To Play With The Foo Fighters At Glastonbury

Liam Gallagher said to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe in a recent interview that Dave Grohl had extended an invite to join them during their performance at Glastonbury. “He asked me to come on and do a song,” Gallagher said. “I said no, cos I need a bit of rehearsal. I know it’s cool and all that, but I need a rehearsal.”

He is due to play CalJam festival in San Bernadino, California on October 7. The one-day event was organised by Foo Fighters and will be headlined by the band.

Asked by Lowe if he might do something with the group there, he replied: “I tell you what I wanna do. I wanna do ‘Range Rover Bitch’ that Taylor [Hawkins, drummer] made. That’s the tune.”

Liam Gallagher On Ed Sheeran

It seems that Liam Gallagher well and truly is mellowing with age, as the Oasis man's recent comments about Ed Sheeran have proven.

There was once a time that Gallagher would have ripped an artist like Sheeran to pieces, but he spoken very complimentarily of him in a recent interview - not only saying that he wasn't as good a writer as Sheeran, put placing him in the same category as a musical legend.

He told Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show: "He is talented. I don’t know much about him but he is talented."

He also mentioned how he did not see himself as the same kind of musician (no kidding) as Sheeran, saying: “I don’t see myself as a writer, I see myself as a singer first. I’m still learning. When I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror I just see a rock n roll singer with a dash of punk, and loads of charm. I don’t see myself as an Ed Sheeran or a Bob Dylan.”

Gallagher worked with Snow Patrol's Jonny McDaid - who has also co-written for Sheeran - on his forthcoming debut album. Next stop, collaboration?

Liam Gallagher Doesn't Care If Oasis Gets Back Together

Liam Gallagher discussed the possibility of an Oasis reunion earlier today, saying he doesn’t care if the band gets back together.

He told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe “Me and our kid don’t speak and that’s the saddest thing about it,” he said. “We’ve got to start becoming brothers and friends again. It don’t matter how many noughts you put on [a cheque].”

Liam Gallagher Compares Noel To Dolly Parton

"If you want to hear Oasis songs done properly come to my gigs," he said

Liam Gallagher has described his brother Noel as performing Oasis songs “like Dolly Parton.”

The former Oasis frontman is preparing to release his debut solo album ‘As You Were‘ later this year. The album will be released on October 6 and will feature singles ‘Wall Of Glass‘ and ‘Chinatown‘.

Speaking to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe today (July 25), Liam discussed getting back on stage after four years away. “I‘ve got the relationship back with my kids and stuff, and all is good in the world, but I’m ready to get back on stage and do some screaming and shouting.

“If you want to come and hear Oasis songs done properly come to my gigs. Our kid’s doing them like Dolly Parton.”

He also explained why he took so long off after Lowe pointed out that he hadn’t really had a break since Oasis took off. “That second [Beady Eye] album was the first album I’d never toured in America,” he said. “There were no gigs happening so I thought ‘I’m not going to do a third one.’

“There was a lot of personal stuff going down as well so I reckoned I needed a bit of time out. It was the right thing to do, you know what I mean? But I had to get away and sit in a room away from music.”

Asked what he does when he’s not busy with music, Liam replied: “Moan. Kick things. Spit at things – all sorts of stuff. Swear a lot. Kicking like a fence or an iron gate or something. I drink a lot and eat and stuff, and then I go for a run and chase squirrels. The last four years have been hell.”

Liam Gallagher On Coldplay's Chris Martin

The musician previously compared the frontman to a geography teacher, a vicar and a plant pot, among other things

Liam Gallagher has said he apologised to Coldplay‘s Chris Martin when they performed together at One Love Manchester for insulting them over the years.

The singer teamed up with the band’s frontman to perform ‘Live Forever’ at the event, which was organised by Ariana Grande after the terrorist attack at her concert at Manchester Arena in May.

Speaking to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Gallagher revealed that he apologised for those remarks and more backstage at the charity gig. “I got in the dressing room and said ‘I apologise for everything I said before, I was being a dickhead.’

“[Martin] went: ‘Nah, nah, nah, we fucking love it. So I’ve got a pass.”
