Taylor Hawkins Would Love To Write A Song With Liam Gallagher

Foo Fighters' drummer Taylor Hawkins has said that he would love the chance to play drums in Liam Gallagher's band and write a song with him.

Asked if he'd like to join Liam's live band Taylor told Matt Wilkinson on Beats 1: "Absolutely. He hasn't asked. He loves 'Range Rover Bitch' - that's so amazing! I'd like to write a song with him. If he likes 'Range Rover Bitch' man. I've already told him that, he knows. He's such a character."

He said: "I think for him, having the new band Beady Eye was just confusing to people and now he can be Liam Gallagher which means he can play all the Oasis songs he wants and he can play his new album, which is really the best music he's made since Oasis.

"I heard a few Beady Eye things and it was good but he knows he needs to write songs with other people.

"I'm stoked for him.

"And when he's on man, he's on! That's what I love about him, he's such a temperamental performer."

Liam Gallagher On Being Asked To Play With The Foo Fighters At Glastonbury

Liam Gallagher said to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe in a recent interview that Dave Grohl had extended an invite to join them during their performance at Glastonbury. “He asked me to come on and do a song,” Gallagher said. “I said no, cos I need a bit of rehearsal. I know it’s cool and all that, but I need a rehearsal.”

He is due to play CalJam festival in San Bernadino, California on October 7. The one-day event was organised by Foo Fighters and will be headlined by the band.

Asked by Lowe if he might do something with the group there, he replied: “I tell you what I wanna do. I wanna do ‘Range Rover Bitch’ that Taylor [Hawkins, drummer] made. That’s the tune.”

Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins Praises Liam Gallagher

Foo Fighters‘ Taylor Hawkins has spoken out in praise of Liam Gallagher – hailing him as a ‘fucking good rock singer’ and remembering ‘great nights out’ together.

The drummer, who just released his new mini solo album ‘KOTA‘, was talking to NME about the inspiration to work on music away from the Foos, when he opened up about his admiration for the former Beady Eye and Oasis man – and even compared him to Freddie Mercury.

“I’ll tell you something about Liam Gallagher,” Hawkins told NME. “That guy is such a fucking good rock good singer. When people talk about Freddie Mercury, they’re like ‘Oh my god, he’s so outrageous’ – a lot of people just skip past the actual thing of what it is that made them great. I watched that Oasis documentary [Supersonic] the other day, and there’s this part were he just sings ‘Champagne Supernova’ in one take in its entirety, and you just go ‘oh fuck’, you know, the reason we all liked him in the first place is because he’s a fucking good singer. He can fucking sing a rock ‘n’ roll song dude.”

Hawkins continued: “I hope him and his brother can get his shit together. I mean come on boys, everyone wants to see Oasis again, give us a break – come on!”

When asked about how long he’d known the Gallaghers and the Foos history of playing live with Oasis, Hawkins replied: “Oh yeah I’ve known those cats off and on. I was playing shows when I was drummer for Alanis Morissette for all these Christmas festivals, so the Foo Fighters were doing it before I was in the band, Jane’s Addiction, and Oasis. It was right when that album ‘What’s The Story? (Morning Glory)’ came out. We’d be in England and  every single car was either playing Blur or Oasis.”

He went on: It was such a fun time, 1995-96, it was amazing. I remember their bus would pull up, outside of Ohio or New Jersey or something like that, and watching those two guys smacking each other, not even out of the bus. We’re going ‘ oh my god, there they are the real deal’. They look amazing and they’re beating the crap out of each other and I can’t even understand a word they are saying. I had a couple of great nights with them Liam back in the day, back in the 90s.

“Every time I see him I get a big hug. I love him. I think he’s one of the great frontmen over the last 20 years, no question. As far as a guy who can hold a microphone and sing, and really not do much of anything. He can move, one little sway, his hair’s always impeccable and he’s always got the best sweatshirt you’ve ever seen in your life.”

Foo Fighters Will Agree To Glastonbury If Oasis Reform

Foo Fighters have said they'd agree to headline Glastonbury if Oasis reformed to also play the festival.

Dave Grohl revealed that the group haven't yet been asked to top the bill, but would say yes if Liam and Noel Gallagher played, and Prince agreed to be the third headline act.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 he explained: "If Prince does it, and Oasis does it, you've got the Foo Fighters, how about that?"

The singer says he hasn't spoken to organiser Michael Eavis or his daughter Emily about headlining, but is interested as Foo Fighters haven't played Glastonbury since 1998.

"He hasn't called me. I mean, I don't want to give out my phone number on air, but I like playing shows! I've been to that festival before. It's pretty fun. We'll see what happens. We'll get a conference call happening, we can work this out. Imagine Prince and Oasis on the telephone, that would be amazing."

As a huge fan of Oasis, Dave has toured with the brothers and spent time with them away from the stage, and is sure the sparring brothers could put their differences aside for the festival.

"In America Oasis sort of crept up on us, and it was one of the first times that an English band became massively enormous in a really long time. We ended up seeing them and playing shows with them and I got to know them a little bit. I love them as people, they're the sweetest people in the world. I know they have this sort of reputation of being brash and nasty, but I don't think they are. I've watched them live and there are not that many bands that can just stand there motionless and make 100,000 people go bananas, and that comes down to the songs. When your songs are that good, you've got something good going on. I miss them.

"If Taylor Hawkins and I can be in a band together, I'm sure that they can be in a band together too."
