Liam Gallagher On School, Family, Oasis, The Rain, Manchester And More

Below are a number of quotes from Liam Gallagher from a article/interview from 'The Telegraph' you can read here (Sign Up Required).

I left with no qualifications, and the school got me a job in a garden centre, creosoting fences, a YTS thing. I was getting £50 a week. I'd finish at 3pm, midday on a Friday, so I'd walk past the school, waving my 50 quid at my mates.

I discovered I could sing by singing along to the Top 40 on the radio Then when I saw Roses live, I thought: "I could do that. I've got the look, I've got all the clothes, the haircut's intact, all I've got to do is stand in the front of the microphone and open my mouth - easy."

Three mates that I knew through playing football had a band called The Rain. I was thinking: "If I can get in there with them, and do my singing, I know for a fact that I can get our kid in."

My 16-year-old self imagined being in a band exactly as it is for me now. Music has never ever failed me once. It's everything I imagined it to be. Even when it was particularly bad with me and Noel at the end of Oasis, it was still better than digging holes.

I was the baby of the family - Noel's five years older than me, Paul's seven - but my mam treated us all the same. Burnage was a great place to grow up. It's not as moody as people make out.

Liam Gallagher On Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 'Who Built The Moon?, Gigs And More

Liam Gallagher has spoken about Noel during a interview with Australian TV show abc730.

He said "Noel's a great songwriter and he's great. I think he's a bit up his own arse these days for sure, you know what I mean? But he's a good songwriter but I preferred his last two ones than this one. I think he's banging on about it being experimental. I don't think it's that experimental. I just think there shit songs and just a couple of, a bit weird production on it."

He added "Well you know you can't have it all can you kid know what I mean? You might write the songs but your gigs are fucking boring. I don't write the songs but the gigs are happening. So there you go. I'll buy a good gig any day. You go to his gigs now and you know, I think you wake up in a coma, don't you, about three months later. you know what I mean?"

Noel Gallagher "I Wasn't Trying Something New For The Sake Of It"

Noel Gallagher was asked by the current issue of the Australian 'Rolling Stone' What was it that made him team up with David Holmes for 'Who Built The Moon?'

He said "Well i have all his records and I'm a fan of his, but I didn't seek him out. We kind of met at a festival by chance and I was like, "Wow, you're David Holmes!" And he was like, "Fuck me! You're Noel Gallagher!" I kind of wanted him to get involved on 'Chasing Yesterday', but I was already a little bit of the way into it so he didn't want to come on board after the start of it, so we just started another record."

Rolling Stone: "It seems like people are giving you credit for trying something new on this record"

He replied "Yeah, but I wasn't trying something new for the sake of it. The bottom line is if the songs not great nobody will give a shit. "Oh have you heard that new Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds record? Well it sounds really different." Are the songs any good?" "oh no, the songs are fucking rubbish, but it sounds like fucking electronic reggae Jazz." Well fuck that. You have to have good songs".

Noel Gallagher "By The End Of This Decade Streaming Will Be It"

Noel Gallagher recently said that streaming is the worst part of the music industry when asked by the current issue of the Australian 'Rolling Stone' "How do you feel about it now that you've experienced releasing an album during the streaming era?"

He said "I still think my talent is not for rent. It's for sale. But I'm not that much of a fucking moron that I'm not aware of the world in which we live in. By the end of this decade, streaming will be it. People will not own physical copies anymore, because they won't be made. I will always believe that to own it is more important than to rent it. But there's a new generation of people growing up - my children for instance, who are 10 and seven - they'll never have a record collection. And it won't bother them, because their big sister, she's not got a record collection. And it won't bother her, because what do you want a fucking record collection for?"

Noel Gallagher On Getting Asked About Oasis Reforming And More

Noel Gallagher was asked by the current issue of the Australian 'Rolling Stone' "You're always asked if Oasis will reform, or if you and Liam will make amends -are they impossible questions to answer?"

He said "You can only answer the questions that you're asked and if people can't deal with the answers then that's their problem. And if I can't deal with the fallout from those answers, then that's my problem. We live in a era where famous people are scared of having an opinion because of social media because of instant reaction by the morons on the internet. I don't give a fuck about that".

The interviewer then said to Noel "Whether or not you enjoy them, you have a knack for giving a good interview."

He replied "There is a theory that I only really release records to promote my latest round of interviews. If only I could start charging for my interviews, then life would be better".

Noel Gallagher On Becoming A Politician

Noel Gallagher was asked by the current issue of the Australian 'Rolling Stone' has he ever considered running for government?

He said "Wow. Not a fucking chance. What kind of man would think "You know what, I think I'll be a good politician." A fucking idiot thinks like that. Like Donald fucking Trump. What the fuck was he thinking? Here's a guy that is a billionaire, a multi-billionaire, never worked a fucking day in his life. He was a TV star, people found him mildly amusing and a bit quirky, and know he's the most hated man on the planet. His Wife must be thinking, "wow, Thank you very much for that."

Noel Gallagher "The Fucking World Is Amazing, It's Just Full Of C*nts"

Noel Gallagher was asked by the current issue of the Australian 'Rolling Stone is he feeling quite hopeful about the world at the moment?

He said "Always. The planet only has one problem. That's the people in it. The fucking world is amazing, it's just full of cunts. The other thing I really give a shit about is international terrorism and religious bullshit. Here in London, when it all goes off it's fucking brutal. But I look at it this way. Those people, they don't like music. They don't like people that make music. They don't like girls. They don't like anything that's truthful or beautiful. And till the day I die, I'll be getting in there faces, making music about girls, about truth, and about beauty. Fuck them all is what I say, fuck' em all".

The Australian 'Rolling Stone' is on sale now.
