Liam Gallagher and John Squire joined Zane Lowe yesterday to talk about Just Another Rainbow and more, listen to it here (subscription required)

Below are some quotes from it

Liam Gallagher on touring: "We’ve got a bass player, we’ve got a drummer, we’ve got a keyboard player on hold and that if we need it. We’re going to try and tackle it without a keyboard player [or] piano player and give it a bit of b*llocks, mate.

"A bit of rawness to it, but if it needs it, it needs it. But yeah, we’re going out on tour. We’re going to go and do some gigs, see what happens, and try to inspire people and make people happy. That’s it really. And then do another one."

Liam Gallagher on the album: “There’s 10 [songs] on the album, but we’ve done eight. We demoed eight of them in John’s studio and then John done another two songs and we recorded them for the first time.

"Sang them for the first time out in America in LA. It hasn’t got a title as such. It’s just Liam and John, like Liam Gallagher and John Squire, really.”

John Squire: "It's too late. We forgot about a title. It's all been printed"

Liam Gallagher: "The next one will have one now."

Listen To Liam Gallagher & John Squire's 'Just Another Rainbow'

Liam Gallagher and John Squire have released their first collaborative single Just Another Rainbow.

Squire described the song about “disappointment,” adding that despite the negative themes, it’s still “one of the most uplifting tracks that we’ve made together, which is weird.”

Liam said “Everyone always bangs on about him as a guitarist, but he’s a top songwriter too, man, no two ways about it as far as I’m concerned. There’s not enough of his music out there, whether it’s with the Roses or himself. It’s good to see him back writing songs and f*cking good ones.

“The melodies are mega and then the guitars are a given. But I think even when you take all the f*cking guitars off, you can play the songs all on acoustic and they’ll all still blow your mind.”

Liam Gallagher On How His Album With John Squire Came About

Below is a quote from the current issue of Uncut that has a small feature on Liam Gallagher's and John Squire's album that is due for release in the Spring.

Liam on how the plan was hatched for an album after playing Knebworth in June 2022.

"John was like, 'I've been writing some tunes... you up for singing 'em'? Yeah, f*cking too right. John sent us three and they were mega. Then there's another three, and another three... I think John's a top songwriter. Everyone always bangs on about him as a guitarist, but he's a top songwriter too, man, no two ways about it. As far as I'm concerned, there's not enough of his music out there."

The Black Keys On Working With Noel Gallagher

Noel Gallagher, Beck and Alice Cooper are on the guestlist for the duo’s “party record”

Taken from the current issue of UNCUT, read the full article here.

Patrick Carney: It came out so easy that we were trying to think of other people that we could throw in the mix, and the person at the top of the list was Noel Gallagher. Everyone was like, “Noel doesn’t really write with other people.” But he agreed to meet us in London. We booked some time at Toe Rag and recorded two songs with Noel in three days. With Beck, most of the time we’d have the music there by the time he showed up, so we were just looking for words and melody. But with Noel, we started the songs from scratch. Noel is hilarious and we hit it off instantly. It couldn’t have gone smoother. He was very meticulous about finding the right transitional chords for each section, it was amazing. Dan started calling him the ‘Chord Board’.

Dan Auerbach: In that particular instance at Toe Rag, we were all in the room: Pat with the drums, I was playing bass, Noel had his 335, and our friend Leon [Michels] was on keyboards. We were just in a circle in this tiny room, recording live, working up songs in real time, literally figuring out chord changes and melodies. Every song that we got with Noel is a live take, “On The Game” is a live take that we cut. It just felt really good.
