Liam Gallagher's 'As You Were' Is The 10th Best Selling Album Worldwide By A British Artist In 2017

Liam Gallagher's debut album 'As You Were' was the tenth best selling album worldwide by a British artist in 2017.

The figures were released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

Here are the top ten best selling British albums of 2017 from around the world.

01. Ed Sheeran – Divide
02. Rag N Bone Man – Human
03. Sam Smith – The Thrill Of It All
04. Harry Styles – Harry Styles
05. Depeche Mode – Spirit
06. Ed Sheeran – Multiply
07. The Beatles – Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
08. Gorillaz – Humanz
09. Roger Waters – Is This The Life We Really Want?
10. Liam Gallagher – As You Were

It reports that one in every eight albums bought worldwide in 2017 was by a British act, while UK artists accounted for 12.9% of all music purchased or streamed around the world.

The figure is slightly up on last year's 12.5%, but down on 2015, when Adele's hugely successful 25 album lifted UK music exports to 17%.

Liam Gallagher is set to take part in BBC's 'The Year In Music 2017, he will join Stormzy, Sampha, Rag'n'Bone Man, Foo Fighters, and Dua Lipa that will be broadcast on BBC Two on December 8.

The programme will look back over the last 12 months of music, with hosts Claudia Winkleman and Clara Amfo talking to the guest stars about their "greatest performances and biggest stories".

Liam Gallagher has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with his debut solo album As You Were.

Scoring massive combined sales of 103,000 (91% of which were physical purchases and digital downloads), Liam lands at the top spot with ease, outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined.

As You Were was both the best-selling and most streamed album of the week, and is the third fastest-selling of 2017 behind Ed Sheeran’s ÷ and Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human.

The album also posts impressive sales on vinyl, with 16,000 copies sold, giving Liam the biggest one-week vinyl sale in over 20 years, topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and Official Record Store Chart in the process.
