Will Noel Gallagher Join Coldplay On Stage At Glastonbury Later?

Word in the mud is Noel Gallagher a very hairy Bradley Cooper and Matt King (Superhans in Peep Show) were all hanging out together at The Park Stage's backstage bar last night.

Our writer James Hall reckons that Gallagher may well join Coldplay on stage when they play Up & Up – for which he played guitar on the album A Head Full of Dreams.

Seeing as he isn't billed to play this weekend, there could well be truth in the rumour.

Noel Gallagher On Brexit Referendum

When Britain goes to the polls this week to decide whether to leave the EU, don't expect Noel Gallagher to be first in line.

"Do I think we should leave? I don't think we should be given a vote," the forthright former Oasis mastermind tells CBC Music.

"I see politicians on TV every night telling us that this is a f--king momentous decision that could f--king change Britain forever and blah, blah, blah. It's like, okay, why don't you f--king do what we pay you to do which is run the f--king country and make your f--king mind up," he continues. "What are you asking the people for? 99 percent of the people are thick as pig shit."

Though his music has remained unpolitical, Gallagher himself is no stranger to politics. The musician was instrumental in getting the Thatcher conservatives out of power, rallying the youth vote at the height of BritPop. A decision he later regretted when the consequent ruling Labour party, led by Tony Blair, took Britain into the Iraq war.

A decade on, ghosts of that decision still haunt the 49-year-old.

"They [politicians] didn't f--king ask us for a referendum when they were going off to war, did they?" he points out. "No, f--king assholes."

As for how or even if he'll make his voice heard come Thursday, Gallagher says though he finds the name amusing ("I like the fact that it sounds like a cereal; a bowl of Brexit!"), he's still weighing his options.

"I'll decide to vote on the morning," he offers. "I might be busy."

Liam Gallagher Posed For Photos With Fans At The Stone Roses Gig In Manchester Yesterday

Liam posed for photos with delighted fans watching the band at the Etihad Stadium.

Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher caused a stir among fans as he turned up in Manchester yesterday to watch The Stone Roses.

The Live Forever and Wonderwall singer delighted revellers turning out to watch the Roses at the Etihad Stadium by posing for photographs.

In one cheeky snap he was seen licking a window as a fan looks on. In other photos he showed off a rather splendid colourful coat, his hair grown back into his trademark longer style.

One fan enthused in a photo shared on Instragram: “En route to the Roses and I meet this legend!”

Another fan, while pointing at Liam, says: “So this happened.”

Fans spread the word on Twitter that he was in town to see the Waterfall hitmakers, who play their final gig at the Etihad tonight, saying: “It’s official - Liam Gallagher is in Manchester to see The Stone Roses.”

Another tweeted: “First time in Manchester and I meet Liam Gallagher. Excited for the Stone Roses tonight. Everything is looking up.”

And even if they didn’t meet the actual Liam Gallagher, some fans thought they might have done, with one tweeting: “It’s hard to try and spot Liam Gallagher at a Stone Roses gig at the Etihad when everybody looks like Liam Gallagher. #stoneroses.”

Liam wasn’t the only Manc legend in town to watch the Stone Roses. Former Manchester United player David Beckham was there on Wednesday night.

Before playing This Is The One, Ian Brown announced to the crowd “This one is dedicated to Mr Beckham.”

After the show David and his 17-year-old son Brooklyn popped out for a curry in Longsight.

"Stop Crying Your Heart Out" is a song by British rock band Oasis. It was released as the second single from Heathen Chemistry on 17 June 2002, peaking at number two in the UK charts. It went silver in the UK.

The song is an "epic weepy" anthem in the spirit of "Don't Look Back in Anger", reassuringly advising that in times of hardship, simply get over it and get on with your life. Noel Gallagher explained the song saying "A friend of mine was going through a pretty bad time and I sort of wrote it with him in mind."

Noel Gallagher had great expectations for the song, saying "I hope it does for us what 'Don't Look Back In Anger' did... I didn't want it as a single because I thought we'd done all that before, but everyone's going, 'You're fucking mad.'". NME said, 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' [is where] you really start rolling out the red carpet. A return to the long lost humanism of 'Don't Look Back In Anger', it's a reminder of Noel's knack of cheering up his audience just when they need it most." Q magazine held up the song as proof that "genius never completely left Oasis".

"Stop Crying Your Heart Out" was one of the songs played during the end credits of the movie, The Butterfly Effect, starring Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. It has been on the TV show Smallville too. The song also appeared after England's defeats in the 2002 Football World Cup and the 2006-07 Ashes. Noel Gallagher dedicated it to the English football team before playing it at the 2004 Glastonbury Festival. The song is also featured in the film Made of Honor, Starring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan and appears towards the end of the film.

This blog and my Oasis site was named after the song.

What's Liam Gallagher Shooting In Los Angeles With Director Nigel Dick?

Below is a small article from today's Daily Star. It suggests Liam Gallagher was shooting something with director Nigel Dick, who worked with Oasis on the videos for Rock ’n’ Roll Star and Wonderwall,

Liam Gallagher loves a quiet night in enjoying tea and biscuits.

Nigel Dick who directed a number of Oasis music videos says he is addicted to PG Tips and digestives.

He said: "We were shooting in LA so I sent out one of the assistants to get as much English food and drink as they could find.

"He bought back PG Tips and digestives, so I set up a little outdoor garden and gave Liam his own tea party, and he loved it.

"After his cuppa and digestives, he was a gem to instruct.

"Shakermaker" is a song by British rock group Oasis, written by their lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. First appearing as a single, released on the 13th June 1994, which peaked at number 11 in the UK charts, it was later released on Oasis' groundbreaking debut album Definitely Maybe. It was also the first song performed by the band on the UK's world famous music program, Top Of The Pops.

Gallagher admits the lyrics are taken from the world around him, for example, a Shaker Maker was a popular toy in the 1970s, the character of "Mr Soft" was taken from a Trebour Soft Mints commercial, which featured Cockney Rebel's song "Mr Soft", "Mr. Clean" is a song by The Jam, one of Gallagher's favourite bands, "Mr Benn" is a British children's cartoon and the entire last verse - Mr Sifter sold me songs/When I was just 16/Now he stops at traffic lights/But only when they're green - was written in a taxi on the way to the recording studio to record the song. Apparently, Liam Gallagher was pestering Noel to finish the song. At this point, the taxi stopped at the traffic lights outside 'Sifter's"' (a record shop in Burnage, Manchester). Noel penned the lyric and it became part of the song. Noel used to frequent the store to buy old records before Oasis started releasing albums and Mr Sifter refers to the owner of the record store.

Liam Gallagher Slams Noel And Oasis Documentary Makers

Liam Gallagher has hit out at the makers of the forthcoming Oasis documentary for deciding to premiere the film in London rather than Manchester.

The band’s former frontman slammed the filmmakers and appeared to blame his brother Noel Gallagher for the choice of venue.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the singer wrote: “So check this out apparently some clown trying to tell me this film about my f****** band yeah MY band is not premiering in MCR iFTOTB.”

He added: “Your so called mighty 1 only up for London premier as you were you porcelain k***.

“If I have to come and knock on your door you'll get it popcorn and DVD.”

Gallagher had previously been supportive of the new film, which is being produced by James Gay-Rees and directed by Mat Whitecross and Amy’s Asif Kapadia.

According to reports, the band gave the film crew ‘unprecedented’ access to unseen archive footage as well as giving new interviews.

Gallagher previously described the project as ‘biblical’ after watching an early cut of the film last month.
