A Closer Look At 'Some Might Say: The Definitive Story Of Oasis'

The Official Book Of The Oasis Podcast

The rise of Oasis in the mid-1990s was nothing short of stratospheric. Yet what made Oasis truly special was that they were the people’s band. This is their story, told by the people that lived through it and how our lives were changed forever.

Across the country and all around the world, millions of people felt a connection to these five working class lads from Manchester. With anthemic songs crafted by possibly the greatest songwriter of their generation, delivered with intensity and swagger by definitely the greatest frontman of their generation (also his brother), they set out with an insane level of arrogance, outrageously proclaiming themselves to be the best band in the world. And yet for a shining moment in the mid-1990s they were.

Live Forever. Definitely Maybe. (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? Wonderwall. Knebworth. A level of success not seen by a British band since a certain Liverpool quartet in the 1960s. Beyond that, the ushering in of a new cultural zeitgeist. Britpop. Cool Britannia. New Labour. And at the centre of it all, the soap opera antics of the warring Gallagher brothers and their band of merry men.

But the story didn’t end there. Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s they continued to inspire generations of fans with their subsequent albums and tours, while controversy was never far away. Band members were left behind, as were a handful of Liam’s teeth in a Munich hotel. New members joined, bringing a different dimension to the sound and ethos… and then one eventful day in Paris in 2009 the whole thing came to a screeching halt.

With exclusive in-depth interviews extracted from the annals of The Oasis Podcast, including contributions from those involved (Alan McGee, Tony McCarroll),  journalists, photographers, radio presenters, video directors (Paulo Hewitt, Colin Paterson, Pete Mitchell, Nigel Dick, Michael Spencer Jones) and celebrity fans amongst many others.

This is the ultimate story of Oasis.

Noel Gallagher On Glastonbury Being Cancelled, Writing New Music, Riding His Bike And More

Noel Gallagher has spoken to the Matt Morgan's Funny How? podcast about making new music, self isolating and the cancellation of major festivals and events amid the pandemic.

Speaking about Glastonbury being cancelled he said: "I thought it’s for the best that it was cancelled.

"It wasn’t unexpected that it was going to get cancelled, and it’s better that it did."

Speaking about the gigs in Manchester and London that were postponed he said "The rest of the shows, I was kinda looking forward to them actually. I haven’t played for like six months and it was going to be nice to get back into it, but what can you do?"

He also spoke about life in his new home "in the sticks," where he said it was "easy" to socially distance from others.

“I don’t see anybody anyway," he revealed. "I go ride my bike round by where I live, but you don’t stop to talk to anyone”. No I don’t really see anybody.”

Asked if he could just easily shut the door and stay in with his family, he responded: "Ah yeah, easy.”

When asked if he was using the time to write a concept album, he replied: “I have been writing. I’ve not been writing a concept album, though.”

Love Him Or Hate Him, Liam Gallagher Is Needed In Pop Culture

His disappearance from the mainstream was met with little more than apathy. Since his return to the spotlight, Liam Gallagher is once more ubiquitous.

“I wouldn’t have a bad word written or said about him”, the gentleman I had met barely two minutes prior stated, defiantly. The previous 120 seconds or so of my life had been enriched by this welcoming stranger in an unfamiliar town we had taken an intentional detour to visit.
