Noel Gallagher On Manchester City, David Silva, Pep Guardiola, Gary Neville, Jose Mourinho And More

Below are a number of quotes from Noel Gallagher on Super Sunday yesterday.

On record-breaking City...

"We did it. We got the record. It was a tough game. When it was 1-1, I didn't know how it was going to pan out. But we were brilliant. You didn't want to lose that record here - I've been here when they play 'glory, glory Man Utd' and not let you out of the stadium. You could get battered here but today we stood up to it. They never stop playing. There's no long balls. It's going to be a great night in Manchester tonight - I don't think I'll be going home."

On David Silva...

"Dave will go down as the best player we ever had, although the longer Kevin De Bruyne stays here, he'll get close. He's the best player I've ever seen play for City. The only thing Pep would change would be that he's not three years younger. There was a moment when City kept the ball by the corner flag for a few minutes and we were saying that the old United team, somebody would have taken those players out - but United were accepting that the game had gone."

On Pep Guardiola...

"When the new owners took over, he was the guy they wanted and it's all coming to fruition now. When he arrived, the club asked me to do an interview with him for City TV and we've kept in touch. He's a dude. There's not many people in football who actually like talking about football - he would gladly talk to you about what's going on. He does exactly what he says on the tin. Long may it continue."

On sitting next to Gary Neville...

"It's great to be sat next to a football legend [turns to Graeme Souness] - and Gary Neville."

On United fans...

"It's payback time - Gary [Neville] has lauded it up at ours many times down the years. It's a pleasure to be sat beside him. Respect to the United fans who clapped Pep Guardiola off - they know they've seen something special today."

On Jose Mourinho's post-match interview...

"The hypocrisy of the man is staggering."

Some Quotes From Noel Gallagher From Sky Sports 'Super Sunday'

Some of Noel Gallagher's quotes from the Sky Sport's Manchester derby Super Sunday.

Speaking before kick-off, he said: “I don’t like derby days, too nervous.

At the start of the show

“I think my fans would rather go to bed and wake up and have a draw and move on but it’s great to be here sat beside a football legend – and Gary Neville.”

On Manchester City winning the title.

“We could win today and lose to Spurs next week.

“When we started the season and hammering teams but recently we have dug in and we have never had that before. City used to be brilliant or lose.

Most teams now come to us and put 10 behind the ball.”

On Manchester United “You fear them in a derby. But win lose or draw we leave top. I’ll take a 6-0 now.

“The players have confidence, this is the best I have ever seen city play, they had a swagger when we murdered Watford, who were fourth. And the last three games.”

At half time with the score 1-1 “Yeah (I’m slightly disappointed), If we go in 1-0 up it’s a different game second half."

“But it’s been fascinating watching this fella here having a mental breakdown up until the goal. If I knew when I’m watching from home that this is what he’s like when he’s watching Manchester United, it’s going to make it all the more enjoyable for me this season I think. He was having a bad day up until the goal, he was having a bad day.”

On Manchester City goalscorer Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

On Silva “Always, he’s the main man,” .

On De Bruyne “When you’ve got him and De Bruyne backing him up, they’re difficult to get the ball off of.”

Noel Gallagher on Jose Mourinho's comments that Manchester United should have had a penalty after Herrera got booked for diving.

“This is why people don’t like him, the hypocrisy of that man is staggering."

Some might say Manchester City have found a brighter day.

Noel Gallagher certainly thinks so, with the rock 'n' roll star saying Pep Guardiola has City playing the greatest football he's ever seen.

As a die-hard fan, the former Oasis man did not hold back on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast about his unwavering love for the Sky Blues’ boss.

He said: “He’s just like one of the lads. He’s a dude, man, he’s a proper dude.

“I literally go into that ground when I go and watch that team and think this is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

Gallagher is dipping his toe into football punditry on Sunday, swapping the guitar for the Sky Sports sofa at Old Trafford.

And he is absolutely dreading the game, expecting Jose Mourinho to field a team of assassins against Pep’s twinkle-toed stars.

He added: “Fellaini will be going out given strict instructions to kill either one of Silva or De Bruyne. Or both.

“I don’t like derby day, I’ve never enjoyed it. It’s too stressful.

“Genuine football supporters will want to get the derby out of the way.

“Wake up, call it a draw, and move on.”

Noel Gallagher Insists Manchester City ‘Won’ The Transfer Window

Noel Gallagher insists Manchester City ‘won’ the transfer window.

Manuel Pellegrini strengthened his squad with the big money arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi, as well as adding the likes of Fabian Delph from Aston Villa and Patrick Roberts from Fulham.

And Gallagher is delighted with the summer business done by his club.

“We’ve won it – we’ve won the window,” he told the Sports Bar. “The good thing was we got all the targets we identified, even publically. It was no secret we were going for De Bruyne and Sterling.

“Otamendi we didn’t know about until he came, but they’ve kind of pulled it off. Looking at the deals that have been done, I feel a bit for everybody else – apart from United!”
