Noel Gallagher Says Pep Guardiola Has A Massive Job On His Hands At Manchester City

Manchester City superfan Noel Gallagher has told talkSPORT this season will be a ‘massive failure’ if the Blues fail to qualify for next year’s Champions League.

It’s been a disastrous end of the season for outgoing manager Manuel Pellegrini, with City bowing out of the Champions League semi-final in pathetic fashion against Real Madrid, while their Premier League top four hopes have also crumbled in recent weeks.

A slide in results, claiming just one win in four games, means Man City now need West Ham to beat Manchester United on Tuesday night to keep their chances alive.

If United win their final two games of the season, City - who only have one more game to play -  win finish fifth.

And Gallagher joined the Sports Bar on Monday night to vent his fury and frustration with the team.

“If we end up failing to qualify for the Champions League, this season will be a massive failure - even though we won the League Cup,” the English rock legend and High Flying Birds frontman told talkSPORT.

“The fact a top four place is not in our hands is unfathomable.

“It’s an absolutely disgrace that City are waiting on West Ham to do us a favour against Manchester United.

"And Leicester are 17 points in front of us – that’s just insane!

“We’re in big trouble here, because if we don’t qualify for the Champions League, how are we going to attract the players who are rumoured to be coming?

“There’s talk of big players coming in the summer, and if they all want to play in the Champions League, are they going to come?

“Pep has a massive job on his hands.”

Pellegrini had the chance to end his reign at the club with glory, after guiding City to their first ever Champions League semi-final.

But, despite playing in what was arguably the biggest game in the club’s history, the Blues’ stars failed to turn up – registering just one shot on target as Real won 1-0 to progress to the final against Atletico Madrid.

And Gallagher has plenty to say about that, too.

“I was out there in Madrid and the whole thing was just so disappointing, the two legs were really deflating,” he added. “To not muster a shot on target was a pretty damning statistic.

“I was walking out of the Bernabeu thinking, ‘I would have rather got beat 5-0’.

“If a manager like Mourinho, Klopp or Mancini was on the touchline instead of Pellegrini, would the team have mustered a bit more fight? I think they would have. I’m looked over at the manager during the game, and he’s  stood with his hands in his pockets and I’m just thinking, ‘come on man!’

“Who wants to get to the semi-final of the Champions League and finish fifth in the Premier League? No one!

“I would have rather gone out in the last-16 and finished third.”

Noel Gallagher On The Manchester Accent, Manuel Pellegrini, Future Plans And More

Below is an interview with Noel Gallagher who talks about the Manchester accent, Manuel Pellegrini, future plans and more.

Noel Gallagher Says It’s Time For Manuel Pellegrini To Move On

Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher says it’s time for Manuel Pellegrini to move on after the end of his three-year honeymoon period.

The Oasis mastermind was at Wembley at the end of February to watch the Chilean’s side lift the Capital One Cup and he even predicted a Yaya Toure penalty would win it.

But he admits it’s time for the more senior coach to move on and make way for young gun Pep to come in and shake things up.

Speaking on tour in South America, the High Flying Birds star said: “We have to see what happens (with Guardiola). Manuel has done a brilliant job. They both have similar styles as coaches.

“Pellegrini signs good players but he is a bit older than Pep. If Pep won three trophies in three years, then yes, I would prefer him before Pellegrini.

“Pellegrini is a good man, I have met him in person. He is a good manager too, but his moment has passed.

“In modern football, coaches stay at the same club for three seasons, and this is his third season in the club. So it’s time for him to go.”

Noel Gallagher: Manuel Pellegrini Must Learn From Liverpool Defeat

Man City fan Noel Gallagher hopes Manuel Pellegrini changes his approach for the Capital One Cup final after City's heavy defeat to Liverpool earlier this season.

Pellegrini's side were three goals down after 32 minutes at the Etihad Stadium in November, and eventually lost 4-1 as Liverpool put together one of their most impressive displays of the season under Jurgen Klopp.

Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino each found the net as they ran rampant in the first half, and as the two sides prepare to meet again at Wembley this weekend, Gallagher fears a repeat performance.

Noel Gallagher On Manchester City's Appointment Of Pep Guardiola

Rock legend and Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher has issued a warning to his fellow supporters – having Pep Guardiola as manager will not guarantee success.

The Spaniard’s widely expected switch to the Etihad Stadium was confirmed on Monday, with the former Barcelona coach to succeed Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.

It’s a huge coup for City, who reportedly fought off interest from a host of other top clubs from around the world to land the outgoing Bayern Munich boss, including rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 45-year-old has won top honours at every club he has coached – three La Liga, two Champions League and two Copa del Rey titles at Barcelona, plus two Bundesliga titles and one DFB Cup at Bayern Munich – and he could well be the difference as City look to end their wait for European glory.

But High Flying Birds frontman Gallagher has attempted to calm the early celebrations – "he hasn’t even landed in Manchester yet" – by asking: "Can he do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke?"

Speaking on the Sports Bar, the former Oasis icon told talkSPORT: “It’s an amazing statement of intent, but some of my City friends are celebrating like we’ve won something!

“He doesn’t really guarantee anything. What having Guardiola does is he opens the door to the top, top players

“I’d have thought if the likes of Paul Pogba, if he hasn’t made his mind up about where he’s going at the end of the season, Guardiola could potentially swing it for him to come to City.

“We hear rumours of Neymar and he could swing it with him too. These players want to play for the best managers.

"I think Guardiola has work to do – we should have won five Premier League titles in a row with this squad – but he’s widely regarded as the best, so we’re about to find out aren’t we?

“Managers at top teams are judged on Champions Leagues now, and I think HE would consider his time at City a failure if he doesn’t win the Champions League with all the resources he will have at his disposal.

“We’re about to see if he’s one of the greats aren’t we, because he’s not coming to a two-horse race here.

“We’re about to see if the old adage is true – can he do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke?

“Not only is it a great thing for City, it’s a great thing for all English football fans. Although we can’t seem to attract the top players in the world anymore, the top managers are coming here - him and Klopp and if Jose goes to United, which I’m sure he will now.”

Noel Gallagher On Manchester City's Champions League Group

Manchester City have been told: If you don’t win your Champions League group there’s something wrong.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have been drawn against Juventus, Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach, and many experts expect them to struggle in Europe once more.

But Noel Gallagher insists that viewpoint is absolute garbage.

“When the draw was made everyone was saying it’s a tough group,” he told the Sports Bar. “But if we don’t win that group with that squad of players then there’s something fundamentally wrong.

“Juventus have got great players but with the first XI we can put out we should win that group, easily. We should win all our home games at a canter and remain unbeaten away from home.”

City have started the domestic season in fine style, winning all four of their Premier League games so far, and Gallagher believes Pellegrini is demonstrating his class – even though he feels it could be his last season in charge at the Etihad Stadium.

He added: “I still think he’ll go but, if he was to stay, I don’t think anyone would be that bothered now.

“He seems to have learned his lesson with this two up front business and he’s showing his quality now. I never expected City to play as well as they have in the last four games.”

Noel Gallagher Insists Manchester City ‘Won’ The Transfer Window

Noel Gallagher insists Manchester City ‘won’ the transfer window.

Manuel Pellegrini strengthened his squad with the big money arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi, as well as adding the likes of Fabian Delph from Aston Villa and Patrick Roberts from Fulham.

And Gallagher is delighted with the summer business done by his club.

“We’ve won it – we’ve won the window,” he told the Sports Bar. “The good thing was we got all the targets we identified, even publically. It was no secret we were going for De Bruyne and Sterling.

“Otamendi we didn’t know about until he came, but they’ve kind of pulled it off. Looking at the deals that have been done, I feel a bit for everybody else – apart from United!”

Noel Gallagher: I'd Let David Silva Have Sex With My Wife!

The former Oasis star and and famous Blue admits he loves David Silva that much - and also wants Bale in and Pellegrini out.

Noel Gallagher loves David Silva so much he would let him have sex with his wife!

The Oasis superstar and lifelong Blue also came up with a three-point plan to resurrect City’s title fortunes – including sacking Manuel Pellegrini and buying Gareth Bale.

Gallagher was speaking as a guest on NBC Sports’ 'Men in Blazers' show when he revealed the startling depth of his affection for City’s little Spanish wizard.

Asked to name his favourite player, Gallagher plunged straight in, naming Silva, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure, and then added, of Silva: “I’d let him have sex with my wife.”

One of the interviewers then remarked that Silva is one of those players who, no matter how much you hate their team, you cannot help but admire – and suggested that Gallagher might look at United ace Juan Mata in the same way.

Naughty Noel was having none of that: “No, I look at Juan Mata and think ‘F****** t***’” he replied.

He was then asked how City could be “fixed” after a trophy-less season and came up with his three-point plan.

“Number one, they need to buy four new players,” said the former Oasis star. “Number two they need to sell four old players. And number three they need to maybe look at a new manager.”

When pressed on which players and manager he wants to come in, Gallgher picked out Real Madrid star Bale and Bayern boss pep Guardiola – with Carlo Ancelotti as a possible back-up plan.

Noel Gallagher Says Mourinho Can’t Wind Pellegrini Up

Noel Gallagher has claimed that it really winds Jose Mourinho that he can’t wind Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini up, as reported by Match of the Day 3.

Mourinho reacted to the 1-1 draw with Burnley by claiming that poor refereeing decisions cost his side all three points after being denied a penalty and Nemanja Matic being sent off, as reported by Sky Sports.

And now Gallagher has claimed that Mourinho can wind up Arsene Wenger but struggles to get Pellegrini to bite.

Gallagher told Match of the Day:”I think it really winds him up that Mourinho can’t wind Pellegrini up. He tried it with Wenger and he bites a little bit.

Van Gaal doesn’t come into it as he’s not a rival and Brendan Rodgers is his mate. Pellegrini’s just killing it every week, he’s just like ‘I’m not interested’ and it’s really winding him up.”

Noel Gallagher Taunts Suarez Over Tears As Liverpool Collapse Gifts Manchester City Title Advantage

The Reds left Crystal Palace with just one point and saw their Premier League championship ambitions take a huge dent, much to the delight of the famous City fan

Manchester City fan and former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was quick to taunt Liverpool after their 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace gave his side a huge boost in the title race.

The Reds led by three goals at Selhurst Park but relinquished their lead in a frantic final 15 minutes, leaving Manuel Pellegrini's side trailing the Merseyside club by a point but with two games in hand.

Gallagher voiced his disapproval of Luis Suarez, who was in tears after the dramatic cdraw shortly after the game.

"It was nice to see Suarez in tears at the end because he is a blatant cheat," Gallagher said to talkSPORT. "It was an endearing image, Gerrard too.

"I can't believe he [Suarez] won the Football Writers' Award. They went 3-0 and got caught up in the emotion.

"Nobody wins by six or seven in the Premier League - unless you're playing Tottenham or Arsenal."

Noel Gallagher's Face Says It All As Manchester City Lose Late At Liverpool

Noel Gallagher looks definitely, maybe a little unhappy after watching his beloved Manchester City side defeated at Liverpool this afternoon.

The musician was at Anfield to see Manuel Pellegrini's side continue their title challenge.

But having fought back from two goals behind, Reds star Philippe Coutinho struck late for the home side to leave Gallagher far from pleased.

Manchester City are now seven points behind with two games in hand as this season's Premier League nears what looks to be an exhilarating climax.

But it's looking less likely Gallagher and City's other supporters will be seeing a champagne supernova when the season concludes next month.

Let's hope he doesn't look back in anger after today's result.

Noel Gallagher: Liverpool Title Victory Would Be Catastrophic For Manchester United

Noel Gallagher wants Liverpool to win the Premier League title – should Manchester City miss out on the crown.

The Reds are in a four-way battle for the crown with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

And Gallagher claims a victory for the Anfield side would not only deny ‘ungrateful’ Jose Mourinho, but also upset Manchester United supporters in the process.

When asked who he wanted to win the Premier League title if Manchester City missed out, he said: “Liverpool.

“There are two reasons for that. It would be worse for Manchester United fans than Manchester City winning the title, for a start.

“I also don’t want Mourinho to get his hands on it this year because he’s been such an ungrateful, cheat.”

Noel Gallagher Joins The Party As Manchester City Win The League Cup

Manchester City's stars gave supporters a behind the scenes glimpse of the what the euphoric Wembley dressing room looked like following the Capital One Cup triumph before kicking off the celebrations with Noel Gallagher.

The former Oasis star posed for a photo with City frontman Sergio Aguero on Sunday night - and the Argentine was delighted to be pictured with one of the club's most famous fans.

Posting the picture on Twitter, Aguero tweeted: 'With Noel Gallagher!!'

Aguero's team-mate and countryman Pablo Zabaleta also posed for a snap with the High Flying Birds singer. The Argentinean described Gallagher as a 'top man' in his tweet.

Manuel Pellegrini's side came from behind to beat Sunderland 3-1 on Sunday to clinch the first silverware of the season.

Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri notched twice within two minutes to turn the final on its head after Fabio Borini's early strike.

Jesus Navas added gloss to the win as stoppage time approached, and City's players were understandably jubilant once Martin Atkinson blew for full-time.

Victorious skipper Vincent Kompany took to Twitter to post a group picture of the squad alongside the trophy.

But he wasn't the only one.

Sergio Aguero featured in his first game since January and played a part in the second goal before being hooked by the manager. He had a proud thumb up next to the silverware.

Alvaro Negredo and Aleksandar Kolarov also tweeted snaps of themselves clutching hold of the trophy.

The togetherness was there for all to see, with players not picked or injured looking as pleased as those who were handed a starring role.

Pellegrini will need that spirit in the coming weeks.

City have ground to make up in the Premier League and need to turnaround a two-goal deficit away at Barcelona in the last-16 of the Champions League if they want to progress in Europe.

Noel Gallagher Is 'Starting To Believe In God' After Man City Success

Noel Gallagher said Manchester City's current form - and rivals Manchester United's struggles - is starting to make him believe in God ahead of the Capital One Cup final against Sunderland on Sunday.

Gallagher has been following City for over 40 years and claims he still can't believe the Citizens rise to prominence.

Indeed, City's rise coupled with Manchester United's struggles under David Moyes have given Gallagher reason to reconsider his religious views.

He said: "We'll never get used to this and we'll never get blaze about it.

"It's a great thing that's happened and none of us ever thought we would live to see the day that there was a thought that we could compete for any trophy, let alone all the trophies.

"It's just a wonderful thing and to cap it all off, this year United are rubbish.

"I take it as a message from God and if you're listening God, I am starting to believe."

Gallagher added that he was delighted to see Argentine forward Sergio Aguero back in the starting line-up to take on the Black Cats, saying: "We're easily a 20 per cent better fan when he's in the side."

And Gallagher also suggested he was enjoying City's style of play under Manuel Pellegrini after three years under Roberto Mancini.

He told BBC Five Live: "We played with an Italian manager for three years and now we have a Spanish mentality.

"When we played under Mark Hughes even though we had different players, we played with a British mentality. It's quite amazing."

Liam Gallagher Brands Roberto Mancini's Sacking 'Insane'

The Beady Eye musician expressed his sadness at the dismissal in light of his past triumphs, including a first ever Premier League title, but conceded he was not surprised

Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher has branded the decision to sack manager Roberto Mancini as "insane".

The former Oasis and current Beady Eye star had been a strong advocate of City keeping the Italian despite watching the club relinquish the Premier League title to rivals Manchester United before being beaten by Wigan in the FA Cup final.

Mancini was sacked 48 hours after their Wembley loss, a year to the day after securing a first title in 44 years, with Manuel Pellegrini revealing he is due to hold talks with the Etihad Stadium outfit about succeeding the Italian - and Gallagher expressed his sadness at the former Inter manager's dismissal.

"I am [sad to see him go]," Gallagher told Absolute Radio. "He won us the league for the first time in 40 years, got us the FA cup, got us in Europe loads of times, that’s just how it is these days, isn’t it?

"This time last year, we were champions and now the guy’s been sacked.

"It’s just insane, man, the world’s gone mad. But that’s what happens if you don’t keep on top of your s***."
