Noel Gallagher Attends The Opening Of David Bowie's Exhibition In London

Noel Gallagher and Tilda Swinton were among the stars who turned out for the opening night of the David Bowie Is exhibition at London's Victoria And Albert Museum last night (March 20).

A host of stars from the worlds of fashion, TV, film and music turned out to see the exhibition. Tilda Swinton represented the absent David Bowie, having recently starred alongside him in the video for single 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight)'. Also in attendance at the V&A were Bill Nighy, Doctor Who actor Matt Smith, Tracey Emin, Pam Hogg, Rosario Dawson, Kaya Scodelario, Nick Grimshaw and Pixie Geldof.

Pre-sale tickets for the show – which opens on Saturday (March 23) – have sold faster than any other exhibit at the museum. A spokesperson for the V&A said that almost 50,000 tickets have already been sold. She said: "We have sold over 47,000 tickets for the exhibition. It is the most pre-sale tickets that we have ever recorded for an exhibition."

The exhibition features 300 Bowie related artefacts, including photographs, film, set designs, handwritten lyrics and 60 stage costumes. Original Ziggy Stardust bodysuits are on display, as are Kansai Yamamoto's Aladdin Sane tour outfits and a Union Jack coat co-designed by Alexander McQueen and Bowie for the cover of 1997's 'Earthling' album. The exhibition runs until August this year.

David Bowie recently went to the top of the UK album chart with his new LP, 'The Next Day'. On Sunday (March 17), the much-anticipated album became Bowie's first Number One in his native Britain since 1993's 'Black Tie White Noise'. It also became the fastest-selling album so far this year, shifting 94,000 copies. Biffy Clyro’s 'Opposites' previously had that title, having sold 71,600 copies during its opening week in January.

Noel Gallagher's A Fan Of David Icke

Noel Gallagher doesn’t suffer fools, so fans will fall off their stools to hear he’s still an admirer of David Icke.

The High Flying Birds pal Russell Brand had the pair on his US show Brand X, filmed in London on Thursday night.

Noel said he was a fan of Icke’s and had been to his lectures with Brand.

But he went quiet when Russell and Icke started rattling on about why the pundit believes the world’s leaders are really “giant lizards” and we can only see “0.0005 per cent of reality”.

Noel interrupted to ask Russ the only sensible question of the discussion – “Can I go?”
Russell replied: “Stay to the end, don’t be an a***hole. If he goes to the pub I’m turning this thing into an orgy after I ask my mum to leave.”

It didn’t turn out that way. After the show Brand was mobbed by female fans, while Noel handed £50 to a bearded beggar. The Oasis star then headed to the Groucho club and partied with Matt Smith.

You’d need a pint after a night with Icke.

Liam Gallagher is set to make a guest appearance in the Christmas Special of Dr Who.

He will film the scenes in the Welsh capital Cardiff later this month, when Beady Eye play in Newport as part of the bands UK and Irish tour.

A source told us "Liam was asked earlier this year if he would like to appear in the Christmas Special, and he jumped at the chance as he loves the show."

Matt Smith who is the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor, has said he is looking forward to working with Liam.

It's not the first time the show has had a singer in one of it's episodes, in 2007 Kylie Minogue featured in the Christmas special 'Voyage Of The Damned'.

Executive producer and writer Russell T Davies described his casting as a "very exceptional case", having written the part specifically for Gallagher.
