It looks like Noel will miss his beloved Manchester City play Stoke in the FA Cup final tomorrow - he's stuck recording his new tunes in LA. That'll hurt more than Gary Neville quoting Oasis lyrics on Twitter.
Below is an interview with Beady Eye that was recorded at a recent fundraiser for the Red Cross Japanese Disaster Benefit at Brixton Academy. The evening raised £163,262.97.
Beady Eye were among several acts to appear at a recent fundraiser for the Red Cross Japanese Disaster Benefit at Brixton Academy. The evening raised £163,262.97.
During the evening many of the performers signed a Japanese flag which is set to go up for auction in aid of the Japanese Red Cross on May 16th. The winner of the auction will have their name written on the flag by the members of Beady Eye.
Liam Gallagher and the Appleton sisters are staying in Sandbanks, Poole.
Former All Saints stars Natalie and Nicole popped into Fluid surf shop, in Banks Road, on Tuesday morning with their dogs.
Nicole and Oasis frontman hubby Liam are booked into the Harbour Heights, in Haven Road, with Natalie and her other half – Prodigy band member Liam Howlett.
Lisa Illingworth, from Liz Lean PR in Banks Road, said: “Someone from Fluid came running in to say they thought they’d got the Appletons in the shop.
“We went in to check it out and there they were. They had their dogs and a little girl in a pram.
“They’re on holiday here with both Liams.”
Natalie and Nicole have been embracing the beach lifestyle, buying trendy clothes from Fluid a couple of times in the last few days.
It has been a while since Noel Gallagher served up one of his razor-sharp verbal volleys.
But Gary Neville is just the kind of comedy character to spark the full force of a Scud missile from the former Oasis hero.
Earlier this week Gary took the liberty of quoting Noel's classic track Fade Away on Twitter after Manchester United all but wrapped up the Premier League title.
He wrote: "'While we're living, the dreams we have as children fade away.' Not if you support United!"
Like little Gary playing the offside trap, it has gone pear-shaped.
Here is Manchester City fanatic Mr N Gallagher's response:
"I feel violated. If Mr Neville continues to use the holy scriptures of Oasis to communicate with the Cockney massive, I shall be forced to come up to Cheshire in the middle of the night, break into his house, tie him to a chair, make him listen to the Best Of Simply d(Red)ful while I pull his tash out one grey hair at a time (with my teeth), liberate those Oasis CDs and s*** in his manbag. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED..."
Delivered like a Nigel De Jong tackle - with two feet just above the ankle.
So there you go Gary-boy, that's another stinger to add to the classic insult from yesteryear from your old City adversary.
The veteran Reds defender and former England misery-guts - who retired this season - once sent Noel a guitar to sign as a little birthday treat to himself.
It came back with the affectionate marker pen message: "Happy Birthday knobhead. MCFC x."
The beauty of Twitter is the fact Mr Neville has the chance to reply to Noel.
He's won every trophy possible at club level, but he'll get no silverware in this slagging match.
We reported yesterday that Noel Gallagher has apparently shot the music video for his first single.
Cameraman Nito Serna tweeted on Saturday (May 7) via Twitter.com/nitoserna that he was working on a video for the former Oasis man. He wrote: "Music video for Noel Gallagher out at Club Ed. Epic camera, techno crane. Should be an interesting day." The tweet has since been removed.
The guitarist's spokesperson has yet to respond to a request from the NME.COM to confirm whether the shoot referenced was indeed for the ex-Oasis man's first solo single.
Noel Gallagher is a regular guest on Andy Goldstein TalkSPORT show, he was asked yesterday via his Twitter account had Noel filmed a video and he replied Noel reply to music video question .... "no comment"....
Club Ed is a permanent film set in California that was originally built for the 1991 film Eye Of The Storm and has been featured in various movies since. Gallagher is believed to have been recording his solo album in Los Angeles recently.
Upside Down: The Creation Records Story, is the new documentary charting the mighty rise, spectacular cultural impact and peculiar fall of Alan McGee's notorious record label. The company, with McGee at its helm, released some of the most influential albums of the early 90s, famously becoming home to Oasis during their Britpop heyday, thus placing themselves firmly alongside Factory Records as one of the most notorious labels to ever grace the British music scene.
For McGee, year after year of non-stop partying and excessive drug-taking culminated with him being rushed to an LA hospital by paramedics in 1994, three years after his label hit its creative zenith with the releases of Screamadelica, Loveless and Bandwagonesque. Sailing through the golden years of Britpop, Creation fell on tougher times later in the decade, released Kevin Rowland's monstrous failure My Beauty in 1999, and folded not long after that.
Q caught up with the now 'retired' McGee over a crackling phone line to get his version of the story. Cue much insanity, a fair share of drugs and a lot of swearing. Oh, and he's not a big fan of that newlywed couple, either.
Taken from an interview with Alan, read the full article here.
Do you think Oasis will reform?
Yeah, I think so eventually, when the dust settles. Creatively, I think it's a good thing for them both that they split. Liam's record is good, a very happy record. Noel's demos are fucking stunning, the songs I've heard are amazing. The only problem could be getting the recording right, but if he does it will be an amazing record. But I think they're up against a lot of stuff because they're not called Oasis. But there will be peace eventually. Something will land on the desk, and it will be a few hundred million for some dates, and they'll go 'yeah'.
Noel Gallagher says in Upside Down that the Knebworth gigs were the death of indie...
I personally don't agree with that at all. Domino's been the natural successor to Creation, an utterly vigilant label. But I don't think Creation could be Creation in this current climate. Creation was about having an attitude, and it epitomised the 90s.
There's some talk in the movie about how Creation went global when Oasis came along.
You know, for me it's very hard to tell because I was always in the middle of it. Even I don't understand the full extent of what we did, but I think Danny captured the right points in the film, at the right time too. It would've been wrong to do [the film] back then I think, but now we've had some time to think on it.
How do feel about Be Here Now looking back on it?
I don't think the production is good, but I think the songs are good. And it sold like a million copies. James Allan from Glasvegas loves it! He wants to do a side project where he does Be Here Now acoustic with a choir. Fucking mad!
..but there's a good album in there underneath all the layers of guitars..
I totally agree! I think it was just too many drugs involved. And the weird thing for me is that I went through it all sober!
Have you read Tony Blair's biography?
[laughs] I never read it, no.
It's striking that your name, Noel, Liam, Damon Albarn, Britpop and Cool Britannia is not mentioned once, seeing how he based a lot of his campaign on that 'movement'.
[laughs more] He has erased it from history! But honestly, I don't for a moment regret going to 10 Downing Street. Don't think I'll be invited back, though.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville borrowed a line from City fan Noel Gallagher as he celebrated the Reds taking a decisive step towards a record 19th league title.
Neville was among a string of United players past and present who posted their views on Twitter after the 2-1 win over Chelsea.
The former club captain, who retired from the game this season and has only recently set up an account on Twitter, posted a message on Sunday evening saying: “'While we're living the dreams we have as children fade away' Not if you support United!”
The line is a quote from the Oasis song Fade Away, penned by lifelong City fan Noel Gallagher.
While United still need one point to secure the league title, several of the current first team took to Twitter to vent their joy after the Chelsea win.
Noel Gallagher has filmed the video for his upcoming debut solo single.
The clip, for the as-yet-untitled single, was shot in California, according to cameraman Nito Serna.
"Music video for Noel Gallagher out at Club Ed. Epic Camera, Technocrane… should be an interesting day," Serna tweeted over the weekend.
The ex-Oasis band member recently fell victim to a fake Twitter account, which posted false details about his upcoming solo material.
Gallagher's management has since set up an official account and posted that the first single's release date is to be August 22, while the album will land on September 12.
The 43-year-old musician reportedly turned down a £1 million offer to join The X Factor earlier in the year.
'Upside Down: The Creation Records Story' is released today on DVD and Blu-ray, the soundtrack is also available here.
Over a quarter of a century since it began and a decade after it folded, this is the definitive film about Creation Records, one of the world's most successful and colorful independent labels. This is the story of the rock n roll dream and its accompanying nightmares.
Millions of sales on both sides of the Atlantic, near bankruptcy, pills, thrills, spats, prats, success, excess, pick me ups, breakdowns and of course some of the defining music of the late 20th Century.
This is the definitive and fully authorised story of the UK's most inspired and dissolute label, from the Jesus & Mary Chain at the Living Room to Oasis at Knebworth.
Liam Gallagher has strongly hinted that he will never agree to play at Glastonbury again.
The Beady Eye man said he is "never going there again" in reference to the Worthy Farm event, before complaining about the sound and celebrity liggers at the festival.
Speaking to the News Of The World, the former Oasis frontman said: "The sound is shit and really quiet".
"And now it's like Bond Street with mud, with loads of celebrities walking around in their boots and umbrellas. I'm not having it."
Liam's brother and former bandmate Noel has also criticised Michael Eavis' festival in recent years. He said that booking Jay-Z as a headliner in 2008 was "wrong".
The Gallaghers last played at Glastonbury in 2004, when Oasis headlined the Pyramid Stage.
Meanwhile, Beady Eye are scheduled to play at a number of other UK festivals this summer, including Somerset House, T In The Park and Reading And Leeds Festival
Miles Kane is set to release his debut album 'Colour Of The Trap' on Monday (May 9th), and it's a collaborator-packed affair.
Produced by Dan Carey (Lily, CSS, Kylie) and Dan The Automator (Kasabian, Gorillaz), it features vocals from Gruff Rhys alongside French chanteuse Clemence Posy.
Noel Gallagher also did "the icing" on 'My Fantasy' following a text from Kane. Wrap your ears round it.
