Andy Bell Sat And Watched As Oasis Disintegrated

Rocker Andy Bell has confessed he sat back and did nothing as warring Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had a furious fight which spelled the end of the band.

Bell joined Oasis as the Wonderwall hitmakers' new bassist in 1999 and he was still in the band when they split following a backstage bust-up between the Gallaghers at a venue in Paris, France in 2009.

Now the rocker has opened up about the incident, admitting he deliberately refused to intervene as the pair clashed because he had been previously warned to avoid getting involved in their regular confrontations.

Bell, who went on to form Beady Eye with Liam and Oasis guitarist Gem Archer, tells rock magazine Q, "I've got to put my hands up and say I did sit there and freeze. I felt it wasn't my place to interfere. I'd been told as much in the past as well. I did step in on previous occasions, like in Barcelona, and was told, 'Don't go there'. I'm fine with what happened. I have no interest in furthering the beef."

Liam Gallagher On How He Got Rid Of A Troublesome Tramp

Rock star Liam Gallagher has told how he got rid of a troublesome tramp who had been pestering his Hampstead neighbours.

The Beady Eye singer said the homeless man had become a nuisance by persistently ringing on doorbells and going through bins in the early hours of the morning.

The former Oasis star, speaking at the relaunch of Red House restaurant in Chelsea, told the Standard: “This tramp kept hassling me at my house.

“I know he has been a problem for other people round our way. He was ringing on our buzzer early in the morning and kept asking if I would pay for his pay-as-you-go phone. Proper mad.

“The final straw was when he started messing with my recycling bins. I’m a bit anal about my recycling and he ended up shoving his crutches in my bin. I came out and squared up to him and he had a bit of a go.

“Put it this way, I don’t think he’ll be coming back round my way again.”

Gallagher, 40, lives in Hampstead with wife Nicole Appleton and their son Gene, 11, who he says may well follow in his father’s footsteps into rock ’n’ roll.

He added: “He plays the drums and is really good. He’s more of a Keith Moon type than a steady drummer but I think he’s got what it takes.”

Liam Gallagher Blasts Noel's Friendship With Damon Albarn

Liam Gallagher has never been one to keep his opinions on the down low and the singer has now blasted his brother Noel and his alleged friendship with former arch-enemy Damon Albarn, labelling their pally ways "b*****ks."

The ex-Oasis stars famously endured a rivalry with Albarn and his Blur bandmates in their 1990s heyday but guitarist Noel put the long-running feud behind him in March this year, when he joined the Parklife singer onstage at a charity show in London.

Liam took a swipe at his brother over the performance, but now he has spoken out to accuse Noel of faking his newfound friendship with Albarn.

He tells NME magazine, "That was b**locks. If you think that was genuine you must be living on the f**king moon. Why do I know that? Because I know my brother. That's how I feel. He's full of s**t. I think Damon's alright... But you know our kid (Noel). It'll be Robbie Williams next."

And those aren't the only harsh words that Liam had in terms of his family member, blasting Noel once again recently, calling him a "f***ing Gobsh***."

The controversial singer made the comments after revealing that his Beady Eye band will not be performing Oasis's back catalogue when they go on tour.

Talking to the magazine the 40-year-old rocker said: “We'll keep it as two because there's too many people loitering in the past.”

He then went to do say: “Noel does quite a bit, but that's his f***ing thing: splitting up Oasis and putting half the f***ing songs in your f***ing set, it's schizophrenic.”

Sending out a clear message to his brother and former band mate, he then said: “If you want to play f***ing Oasis songs put the band back together and stop being a f***ing gobs***e”

Liam recently said that if Beady Eye's new album 'Be' flopped then he would retire from music for good.

The Beady Eye front man has also been hitting the headlines recently for his boozy antics being spotted riding a dog in a posh London pub.

Blue M&M Nearly Kills Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher has put his constitution to the test with a rock ’n’ roll lifestyle stretching back to his teenage years.

But the Beady Eye star has received his first serious glimpse of the Pearly Gates after a blue M&M sent him crashing into anaphylactic shock last month.

Liam has been diagnosed with the life-threatening nut allergy after suffering a reaction to his favourite sweets while staying in a hotel on tour.

And now the former Oasis man has to carry a special injection with him everywhere he goes in case a rogue nut creeps into his system.

Speaking at the launch of The Red House restaurant in south-west London, he said: “I’ve done some stuff over the years but never, never did I think a f****** blue M&M would be the thing that could have killed me. I was in a hotel on holiday and got in about the mini bar.

“I was bored and hungry, so it’s what you do, man. I’ve always liked M&Ms so I got into them. I had a blue one.

“My mouth started to swell up and I could feel it tightening my throat, man. I had to go to the docs and get it checked out straight away.

“It happened again a couple of weeks after and now I’ve got to carry a syringe about with me in case of emergencies. Proper Pete Doherty gear.”

The singer was out on the town to support his Pretty Green clothing business partner Chris Jonns, who has opened a new top-notch restaurant and bar near the King’s Road. Beady Eye are about to release second album, BE, which he is itching to get out and tour.

Liam was drinking with brother-in-law Liam Howlett from The Prodigy, Hurts’ singer Theo Hutchcraft, rappers Rizzle Kicks and The Libertines hero Carl Barrat.

Liam’s missus Nicole Appleton, her sister Natalie and fellow All Saint Shaznay Lewis were on the lash too.

The night ended in The Box club in Soho in the wee small hours.

Luckily it’s not the kind of venue to leave peanuts out for the punters...

Noel Gallagher: Albarn Collaboration Was Spontaneous

Noel Gallagher insists performing with Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn was a spur-of-the-moment decision.

The 'AKA... What A Life!' hitmaker joined his former Britpop rivals to perform Blur's hit 'Tender' along with Paul Weller at London's Royal Albert Hall in March, but he insists he never thought of the ''symbolism'' of the collaboration before it happened.

He said: ''I was put on the spot at the press conference when someone asked if I was going to play with them. What do you say? No? You'd cause a f***ing incident. When they came off doing the soundcheck, I just said, 'Are we doing it or what?' The doors were opening, we went back onstage and went through it once and that was it.

''I didn't think about the symbolism of it all. It's not something that's ever been mooted, it's not like, 'Together on stage, at last'. It's not like, I don't f***ing know, if me and Liam ever go onstage again. It was just a spur-of-the-moment thing.

''I wasn't sat for four months thinking, 'F***ing hell, what are people going to think of this. What should I wear? All white as a symbol of peace?' ''

As part of their performance, Damon and Graham were also joined by author-and-poet Michael Horowitz for a 12-minute improvisation and Noel admitted the idea was borne out of a heavy night drinking at the BRIT awards.

He told Q magazine: ''We were f***ing plastered that night. I said, 'Well, what are you going to do?' and woke up the next day and thought, 'Did he say he was going to do a f***ing improvised poetry jam?!'

''I was sat watching the soundcheck and thinking, 'This is going to be one of those moments that is either, 'I wish I was there, or I was there and I wish I wasn't.' They were literally writing it in the soundcheck. How they pulled it off, I'll never know.''

Liam Gallagher To Made In Chelsea's Francis Boulle: 'I'm A Massive Fan!'

Liam Gallagher has come out as a fan of Made In Chelsea star Francis Boulle – that is, unless he's got him mistaken with another prominent figure in the entertainment world.

Boulle told NME that he bumped into the Beady Eye frontman during the launch of The Red Room venue in Chelsea. The encounter was brief, but the reality TV star said he was delighted to have made contact with one of his heroes.

"I was coming out of the loo and spotted him," Boulle said. "So I said, 'I'm a really big fan'. Liam goes, 'I'm a really big fan of you, man. Where's your wand?' I said I wasn’t a magician, then he asked if I was going to go on a 'wand-er'. I think he thought I was Harry Potter. But if he did recognise me, that's pretty cool! He was pretty friendly."

If Gallagher is indeed a fan of Made In Chelsea it might seem a touch odd to some, as the singer is known for branding people "uni boys" during gigs in the past. But Boulle is a confirmed Oasis fan, and even used to play covers of the band's songs. "I'm a massive Oasis fan," he assured. "I grew up with them, and I'm a big fan of The Stone Roses as well. I used to jam The Stone Roses and Oasis with my cousin in our garage out in the country. I can play most Oasis songs on guitar! 'Definitely Maybe' is my favourite album by them."

Boulle added that he hoped Liam would patch things up with his brother Noel, with whom he's been feuding for years. "Having had siblings not talking to each other, I know how that is. It’s difficult," he said. "I don't know the intricacies of their situation, but you've only got one family and siblings should stick together, really."

Ever the businessman, Boulle added: "Maybe Liam should buy my book [spoof business guide Boulle’s Jewels: The Business Of Life]. It may help it with some of his sibling problems. Well, maybe…"

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has revealed that the title of the forthcoming Beady Eye album – 'BE' – was not his first choice. The former Oasis singer, speaking to NME in the new issue on newsstands now and available digitally, instead said he instead wanted to title the album 'Universal Gleam' but was outvoted by his band and label.

Beady Eye release 'BE' on June 10.

Liam Gallagher Claims Noel Didn't ''Allow'' The Rest Of Oasis To Be Involved With The Group

Liam Gallagher claims his brother Noel didn't ''allow'' the rest of Oasis to be involved with the group.

The Beady Eye rocker insists it is because he is a ''good f***ing guy'' that Gem Archer, Chris Sharrock and Andy Bell opted to join him in his current band when their former group split in 2009 because his sibling - who has enjoyed solo success with his 'High Flying Birds' project since Oasis' demise - allowed them little input with songwriting.

He said: ''Strip away all the big gigs and all the financial s**t and you were left with one man in charge of a band who weren't allowed to write or play.

''The proof is in the pudding. I'm not a ****. I'm a good f***ing guy. I've never sacked anyone in my entire life. Noel has, on the other hand.

''He was always bound to come out on top for the first record, because he was the one who wrote them kind of songs, with the big anthemic choruses. He's been writing that script for 20 years, and people have become used to that style. Whereas me, Gem and Andy - no one's really heard our style.''

Liam also believes that his brother had been masterminding a plan to launch a solo career for some years before Oasis split.

He added to Q magazine: ''Noel wanted out, man, don't be f***ing kidded. He always wanted to be a frontman. He loves being in the f***ing spotlight, being in charge.

''All that crap about, 'This has been thrust upon me, let's deal with it together.' F**k off, you've been planning it for years, you ****.''

Noel Gallagher Pays Tribute To The Smiths On 'BBC Five Live' Later Today

Noel Gallagher to pay radio tribute to The Smiths to mark their 30th anniversary

The Burnage-born star will discuss how the influential band shaped his own musical tastes and drove him to found Oasis with brother Liam

Noel Gallagher will play tribute to iconic band The Smiths this weekend to mark their 30th anniversary.

The Burnage-born star will discuss how the influential band shaped his own musical tastes and drove him to found Oasis with brother Liam.

Gallagher will be the guest star on the BBC Radio Five’s Men’s Hour show later today which celebrates the band's emergence in 1983.

Quizzed by presenter Tim Samuels on what brother Liam’s views were on the group, the musician revealed: “He used to do impersonations of Morrissey warbling.”

Asked by the broadcaster if Liam would now consider the group ‘effeminate’, Gallagher added: “He probably doesn't know what effeminate means. I can't speak for him anymore. Thank God.”

Describing the influence of the band, Gallagher added: “Funnily enough The Smiths came along at that time when indie bands – for want of a better word – indie bands actually invented stuff.

“Like the Happy Mondays – no one had heard that kind of thing before. New Order - no one had heard their sound. The Smiths were in the middle of that.

“Bands don't do that anymore. Bands are all derived from something else.”

Describing his favourite Smiths track as Hand in Glove, Gallagher said he had wanted guitarist Johnny Marr to play on his latest album.

He added: “I was musing it over with my producer and he said what about that Johnny Marr type stuff and I said you better call him because we can't play that.”

The interview on the Men’s Hour show will be on BBC Five Live, later today) at 9pm (UK Time).

Vince Vaughn Likes Watching Old Noel And Liam Gallagher Interviews

They never cracked America when they were in Oasis but Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn admits he watches old interviews with Noel and Liam Gallagher whenever he needs cheering up.

The Wedding Crashers star, 43, says he likes to take his mind off work with a life lesson from a young Liam, now 40.

“I have been looking at a lot of interviews with Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel from Oasis,” says Vince.

“It makes me laugh. Liam has got a real sense of humour. He makes me laugh with the things that he says and from the point of view that he has.”

We agree.

Noel Gallagher: The Jam, The Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis ‘Were All Part Of The Same Song’

Noel Gallagher has said The Jam, The Smiths, The Stone Roses and Oasis were almost ‘part of the same song’ due to the uncanny career span which the four seminal bands enjoyed.

Gallagher has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live’s Men’s Hour as the programme prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Smiths’ debut single ‘Hand In Glove‘ on May 5th at 9pm.

“It was quite fascinating to think that The Jam split in ‘83 and that’s when The Smiths first appeared,” Noel says. “And then as soon as The Smiths disappeared The Stone Roses appeared, and then as soon as The Stone Roses disappeared Oasis appeared. And it’s almost as though someone’s moving the chess pieces around. Someone’s going ‘well you had your go…’ – we’re all part of the same song I reckon.”

The full programme will be aired on the BBC station on May 5th. “I don’t know you’d have to ask him,” Gallagher continues when asked if he thinks his brother Liam would consider The Smiths to be ‘effeminate’. “He probably doesn’t know what effeminate means. So you’d have to ask him. I can’t speak for him anymore. Thank God.”

Liam Gallagher On His Leopard-Print Loafers And More

Liam Gallagher has admitted fans would have to be on psychedelic drugs to wear his favourite leopard-print loafers.

The Beady Eye frontman got lots of local attention when he slipped them on to shoot the video for new single Flick Of The Finger in Accrington, Lancs.

He said: “We had a few drinks with the locals, they were buzzing off it. People were tripping out about my shoes.

“I was going, ‘See that f***ing field over there, kids? Get over there, get some f***ing mushrooms and you’ll be wearing a pair of these’.”

His big brother Noel, meanwhile, can’t get back to work because he keeps hearing his solo stuff on the radio. He reckons he is too “bone idle” to have a load of different projects like former Britpop rival Damon Albarn.

Noel said: “Every time I think about going back to work, AKA...What A Life! comes on the radio and I’ll go, ‘Haha, what’s the point? F***ing done it. I’m going to the Groucho’.”

Another Track By Track Review Of Beady Eye's Album BE

There’s talk of lyrics about Noel. There’s talk that it’s the most far out Liam’s gone since he gave up sandbag-sized portions of illegal substances up his conk. There’s talk that there’s a guest vocal from Justin Bieber, now Liam’s a confirmed Belieber (OK, there isn’t that). But there are a heck of a lot of questions about what Beady Eye’s second album, ‘BE’, out June 10, contains. I had an early listen to find out what’s what…

Flick Of The Finger
This, you’ll know. You’ll know that it’s probably the furthest out Liam’s gone, musically, since ‘Be Here Now’. But it’s rather more enjoyable – brass from the people who do brass for Spiritualized and Primal Scream, spoken word bit read out by, erm, Fonejacker, this really is something new. As is Liam’s voice – mixed high and dry through the album, it sounds like he’s been gargling honey since the throat-rip ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ sessions.

Soul Love
Listeners might be expecting the floodgates to open after ‘Flick Of The Finger’, which guitarist Gem Archer has called the “calling card” of the band’s new era. However, ‘Soul Love’ is restrained, despite a world of sounds from producer Dave Sitek bubbling under the sinister chords. Muffled shotgun sounds and velvet-y organ presses whip up a feeling of intense mystery as Liam croons, “Get up off your knees my friend, promise never to pretend you’re the apple of my eye, spread your wings and learn to fly.” We’re a long way from ‘Four Letter Word’ here.

Face The Crowd
On which the first truly big riff kicks in. And boy does it kick in – right from the off, then repeats, non-stop, relentlessly as this Beatles-y burble careers along. Liam sings of “playing to the gallery when you know it’s time to face the crowd” over Stonesy handclaps, with a Zeppy wig-out from Gem Archer. There’s just enough time for a space-rock outro so we all know Sitek’s still in control, though…

Second Bite Of The Apple
With its gloomy, clickety-clackety percussion and more echo than your average airplane storage facility, somewhat brilliantly, second single ‘Second Bite Of The Apple’ sounds like something plucked from Eels’ back catalogue.

Soon Come Tomorrow
The first obviously Oasis-esque song on the album, the gentle chords that brush through ‘Soon Comes Tomorrow’ draw a line back to the ‘…Morning Glory’ days. A country-ish momentum gathers quickly, however, and despite an extremely Our Kid-esque guitar squall solo the song ends up sounding like something pulled from the pocket of Ryan Adams rather than his good friend Noel G.

Iz Rite
The upbeat strummer of the album, and despite its floaty production one on which more lines are drawn to Oasis. The cello flourishes plant a shadow memory of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, although admittedly this is a very stylistically different song. “When you call my name it takes away my pain, so only love remains… just say it again” Liam croons on the sunny chorus.

I’m Just Saying
After the feelgood vibes, there’s the fighting talk. “You might think the grass is greener, here I am on the other side,” he spits on the heaviest, most rollocking rock number on the album. A reference to Noel’s solo endeavours? Almost certainly. “A 20/20 visionary would never waste a single day,” he later states, then declares he’s “feeling fine, this is my time to shine. It’s not too late, the future’s getting underway.” He never was short on confidence, mind.

Don’t Brother Me
And after the fighting talk, is this the peace offering? It’s hard to tell. This song is obviously about Noel: “Always in the sun, with your Number One… sick of all your lying, your scheming and your crying,” Liam sings. And there’s the fact that he’s explicitly said it’s about Noel. But later, over heavy footstep crunch-effects and tightly-wound acoustics he asks him to, “Come on and give peace a chance, take my hand, be a man.” So, is Noel invited round for Christmas or not, then?

Shine A Light
Sandpaper-dry drums cut right through this fast-paced country-ish number, with just the odd Super Furry Animals-esque electro-squiggle here and there before a big, Lennon-flavoured piano drop. After repeated invitations to “Come on, shine a light,” Liam implores us to “Universalise”. Now that is an awesome new word.

Ballroom figured
Dare we suggest this one’s about Noel too? “Did you ever loan me that song? Did you ever know me at all? Listen to the world going round, looking through a hole in the wall… shoving our loving away… never once looking to say, we got the ride of our lives,” Liam sings on the most production-bare song on the album, with barely more than acoustic guitar for him to bed his vocals on. To be fair this song could be about some girlfriend or other he had in his teens, but hey.

Start Anew
A real sun-through-the-shrubs moment, as uplifting organs underpin Liam singing, “Help me understand, take me as I am, I change my point of view, anything for you.” Wind sweeps through Glasvegas-y guitar washes, the gentle acoustic kicks back and forth, and we end on one of the most tender moments Liam’s ever helmed. The last line he sings on album? “Come on take a chance and start anew, me and you, me and you...” Dare we suggest that it too is directed at a certai… OK, sorry, just draw your own conclusions, eh?

Liam Gallagher Says Beady Eye's New Album Is 70% Rock 'N' Roll And 30% Weird Sh*t

Beady Eye's new album is ''30 per cent weird s**t''.

The 'Flick of the Finger' band have made much of the experimenting they did in the studio for their second album, 'BE', but singer Liam Gallagher promises they have abandoned their rock roots completely.

He told NME magazine: ''Seventy per cent rock 'n' roll and 30 per cent weird s**t and I'll be a happy man.''

Speaking about 'Second Bite of the Apple', the album's first single, Liam added: ''This is one where [producer Dave Sitek] said, 'Let's go f***ing out there'. We were like, 'We like this style, it's not too far out the box, we can do this'.''

Liam also said the group won't be playing ''so much stuff'' off Beady Eye's first album, 'Different Gear Still Speeding' in their live sets, and no more than two songs by his former band, Oasis, as he doesn't want to live in the past.

He explained: ''We'll keep it at two because there's too many people loitering in the past. We can't be doing 10 of them in the set because we're not Oasis. [Brother and former Oasis bandmate] Noel does quite a bit but that's his f***ing thing: Splitting up Oasis then putting half the f***ing songs in your f***ing set, its schizophrenic.

''If you want to lay f***ing Oasis songs put the band back together and stop being a f***ing gobs***e. But he hasn't got the balls to do [his band] High Flying Birds on his own, that's just the nature of the man.'
