Gary Barlow: Take That And Robbie Williams Chart Battle Is Like Blur And Oasis

Gary Barlow has joked Take That's current chart battle with Robbie Williams is similar to the feud between Britpop bands Oasis and Blur.

The 43-year-old singer-songwriter has spoken out following the news his band Take That's first album since the departure of both Jason Orange and previously Robbie, 'III', will go up against their bandmates surprise new record 'Under the Radar'.

Referring to the famous Britpop battle between Damon Albarn's Blur and Liam and Noel Gallagher's Oasis, Gary said: ''It's like Blur versus Oasis all over again.''

However, the former 'X Factor' judge revealed Robbie - who first left Take That in 1995 before rejoining in 2010 and quitting again in 2012 - had told him and his remaining bandmates Mark Owen and Howard Donald about his new album, but failed to mention it would be released on the same day as theirs.

Gary told The Sun newspaper: ''I only found out about that on Sunday (30.11.14).

''It's funny, because we have obviously spent a lot of time in the studio with Rob.

''About two years ago he said, 'I've got all these songs and I don't know what to do with them so I'm going to put them on an album one day'.

''So it's not a surprise he's doing it, but it is a surprise it's out this week.

''He played us most of them and there are some cracking songs because whatever Rob writes is good.''

Meanwhile, the 'These Days' hitmaker claims both Robbie and Jason will be returning to the band in the future.

He said: ''Take That is five people. Exactly when they come back is up to them. That will keep it interesting.''

Russell Brand Reveals That Noel Gallagher Uses The "Parklife" Meme To Mock Him

Russell Brand has revealed that Noel Gallagher uses the "Parklife" meme to mock him.

The 1994 single was used to mock Brand earlier this year after one Twitter user originally compared a long, impassioned passage from the comedian's book on revelation to the spoken word part of "Parklife" provided by actor Phil Daniels.

Appearing on "Alan Carr: Chattyman," in an episode that will air this evening (November 28), Brand reveals that as well as the public, even his friends use the joke to mock him.

"He [Gallagher] finishes his texts with it now," Brand says. "He'll go, 'Alright Russell, how's it going? ' then say something offensive about my hair or my private beliefs, and then go 'Parklife'. I secretly think, 'I remember when there was a race to be Number One and Blur won it against Oasis, so f--k you, in a time machine.'"

This is the latest occasion on which Noel Gallagher has poked fun at his friend, having more recently said that he believes the comedian's so called revolution "might be as short-lived as his acting career."

Let There Be Love" is a song on the British rock band Oasis' sixth album, Don't Believe the Truth. Written by Noel Gallagher, it is the second Oasis song to feature Liam and Noel on lead vocals, the first being the B-Side "Acquiesce". It was released on November 28th 2005 as the third single from the album in the UK, and the second single in the US. It reached number two in the UK charts, capping a very successful year for the band. Many critics cited this song as proof that Oasis had returned to form we had seen in the mid-90's.

A demo for the track was recorded during demo sessions for Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. A bootleg of these demo sessions was leaked onto the Internet in early 2000. This track was given the unofficial title "It's A Crime" on many bootlegs as the track was unknown and unreferenced anywhere before then. The album version of the song is structurally almost exactly as the same as the demo with a slight change in melody in the part that Noel sings. The lyrics to the chorus remains intact, but the verses and bridge have totally rewritten lyrics.

The single version of the song omits the second verse and chorus.

A second, Noel-sung demo was released on the "Let There Be Love" DVD single. It has the same lyrics as the album version, and in fact the album version takes some elements from the demo such as the piano. It was probably recorded sometime in 2003 or 2004, prior to the main Don't Believe the Truth recording sessions.

The video is a montage of some of Oasis' live shows during the summer of 2005 including clips of the gigs at Hampden Park and the City of Manchester Stadium. The clips don't actually show the band playing 'Let There Be Love'.

The song has only been played live once, on an Italian radio show in late 2005.

Tabloid Alert: Liam Gallagher Is Doing A Diploma In Horticulture

The former Oasis star has bought a set of DVDs to help him study at home for a diploma in horticulture.

And it seems the rocker, 42, isn’t even taking the course to learn how to grow something less legal in his back garden.

We’re told: “Liam will be taught how to grow his own fruit and vegetables.

“The learning chapters will also cover pest control, developing vegetable plots and maintaining lawns.

“He’s really interested in working on his garden, and loves the idea of having a proper qualification.

“Liam’s bought these DVDs to teach himself as much as he can about horticulture.”

And it seems that Liam may even become a farmer one day.

We’re told the star, whose family hail from County Mayo, has considered buying a farm in Ireland.

“Liam loves going back over to Ireland to visit his family.

“He’s even spoken about one day buying a farm over there,” our source said.

“He loves the idea of farming, growing crops and maintaining land.

“But he doesn’t have the space to do all that in London.”

The former Beady Eye singer, who is a regular at the Chelsea Flower Show, has also asked a local landscape gardener near his home in Hampstead to source 50 orchids for him.

Our source continues: “Liam loves his plants and has green fingers.

“He especially likes orchids and has asked for a selection of shapes, sizes and colours to display around his house.

“He likes bringing the outdoors inside.

“He has bouquets of flowers everywhere around his gaff.

"It’s quite girly but Liam doesn’t care.

Noel Gallagher On His Secret New Project, New Album And More

Notes taken by two lucky people who went to Noel Gallagher's interview and acoustic performance with John Wilson for BBC Radio 4's Mastertapes series.

I think the most potentially exciting thing was Noel let slip about a separate project he's doing he quickly back tracked as obviously shouldn't have said something.

He said he's got ten songs backing track recorded but only two lines of lyrics as he's struggling as he's not emotionally attached to the project, (he thinks they are amazing as instrumentals). John Wilson asked if was a soundtrack and he said no it will be an album.

Also the 'AKA.. What A Life' lyric came from when Noel was sleepwalking. Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno asked if he was still sleepwalking, Noel said yes and Serge said... What A Life!

John asked him what his plan was for the future after 'Chasing Yesterday' and he said his plan was not to take a long break.

He's got loads of songs left over from Oasis era.

He said most of the songs 'on the internet' that have yet to be released will probably never get recorded as he constantly writing newer songs.

'AKA... What A Life' and 'If I Had A Gun' would've been Oasis songs

The solo in 'Riverman' is very good and performed by Paul Stacey and very reminiscent of David Crosby.

John Wilson picked out 'The Right Stuff' as his stand out track (it was unprompted and he just came out with his like for the track).

Thanks to jaq515

'The Right Stuff' is left over from the Amorphous Androgynous album, perhaps why it's more 'out there' as the interviewer described it.

Apparently a cracking solo on 'Riverman'.

Noel's written an entire album of instrumentals that he hasn't yet been able to put words to for a 'side project.' The interviewer asked if it was for a movie soundtrack to which he said it wasn't and it will be an album if he can put write the lyrics for it. Was all rather odd and intriguing.

Thanks to willd255
