Liam Gallagher has put his constitution to the test with a rock ’n’ roll lifestyle stretching back to his teenage years.
But the Beady Eye star has received his first serious glimpse of the Pearly Gates after a blue M&M sent him crashing into anaphylactic shock last month.
Liam has been diagnosed with the life-threatening nut allergy after suffering a reaction to his favourite sweets while staying in a hotel on tour.
And now the former Oasis man has to carry a special injection with him everywhere he goes in case a rogue nut creeps into his system.
Speaking at the launch of The Red House restaurant in south-west London, he said: “I’ve done some stuff over the years but never, never did I think a f****** blue M&M would be the thing that could have killed me. I was in a hotel on holiday and got in about the mini bar.
“I was bored and hungry, so it’s what you do, man. I’ve always liked M&Ms so I got into them. I had a blue one.
“My mouth started to swell up and I could feel it tightening my throat, man. I had to go to the docs and get it checked out straight away.
“It happened again a couple of weeks after and now I’ve got to carry a syringe about with me in case of emergencies. Proper Pete Doherty gear.”
The singer was out on the town to support his Pretty Green clothing business partner Chris Jonns, who has opened a new top-notch restaurant and bar near the King’s Road. Beady Eye are about to release second album, BE, which he is itching to get out and tour.
Liam was drinking with brother-in-law Liam Howlett from The Prodigy, Hurts’ singer Theo Hutchcraft, rappers Rizzle Kicks and The Libertines hero Carl Barrat.
Liam’s missus Nicole Appleton, her sister Natalie and fellow All Saint Shaznay Lewis were on the lash too.
The night ended in The Box club in Soho in the wee small hours.
Luckily it’s not the kind of venue to leave peanuts out for the punters...
Numerous rockstars flocked to launch of Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green London Collections: Men's Autumn/Winter 2013 on Monday night (January 7th 2013) at The Arts Club and he certainly seemed to be in celebratory mode. He was spotted in his usual indie get-up with a black jacket and jeans, decidedly avoiding the opportunity to don a smart suit on the red carpet. On the other hand, he wasn't the only one - his longtime bandmate Gem Archer, who joined him in his band Beady Eye after Oasis, wore an identical jacket and their friend Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan favoured very similar style shoes. Andy Bell, also from Beady Eye, attended though looked distinctly smarter.
Gallagher's wife Nicole Appleton from All Saints was also at the event showing her support for her fashion designer husband. Aside from the new collection, he has several ventures for Pretty Green he wants to concentrate on in 2013 including a range of eyewear and bags to add to the business in its fourth year of running. 'We're looking into accessories heavily, having dabbled in footwear', he said at the launch. 'The world's our oyster really, we'd like to think. There's the opportunity to grow into what we want.'
BBC Radio 1 presenter Fearne Cotton was another guest at the launch, heavily pregnant and supported by her boyfriend Jesse Wood, the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Despite being on maternity leave, she took a break from resting to attend the event and looked 'pretty green' in a patterned turquoise and black minidress teamed with leopard print ankle boots that cleverly took the attention away from her bump. Though, as a fashion designer herself, you can hardly blame her for knowing all the tricks of the trade.
Liam Howlett from The Prodigy paid tribute to the label with a thin green scarf while his wife Natalie Appleton (also from All Saints and sister of Nicole) turned heads in a net top and tight leather pants. It certainly wasn't a night for conventional red carpet glamour but was dazzling nonetheless. The range of different styles donned by the evening's celebs went some way to prove a point Gallagher made about his clothing not fitting into one category, as inspiration seems to be everywhere. 'People might say it is but we didn't set out to create a Mod label', he insisted. 'It's music, from the Sixties and Seventies.'
'The Inbetweeners' star James Buckley was also in attendance looking chipper as usual. He hung up his role as the egocentric though secretly insecure character of Jay from the British comedy series in 2011 following a three series run and a closing movie. In November last year (2012) he married his long-term girlfriend Clair Meek at Dundas Castle in Scotland and the pair have a 14 month old son together named Harrison. Whether he's named after Blake Harrison, the actor who played Jay's best friend in the series, is unknown though we'd sort of like that to be the case.
Liam Gallagher and the Appleton sisters are staying in Sandbanks, Poole.
Former All Saints stars Natalie and Nicole popped into Fluid surf shop, in Banks Road, on Tuesday morning with their dogs.
Nicole and Oasis frontman hubby Liam are booked into the Harbour Heights, in Haven Road, with Natalie and her other half – Prodigy band member Liam Howlett.
Lisa Illingworth, from Liz Lean PR in Banks Road, said: “Someone from Fluid came running in to say they thought they’d got the Appletons in the shop.
“We went in to check it out and there they were. They had their dogs and a little girl in a pram.
“They’re on holiday here with both Liams.”
Natalie and Nicole have been embracing the beach lifestyle, buying trendy clothes from Fluid a couple of times in the last few days.
It seems Liam Gallagher isn't sitting on his lazy backside waiting for Noel to come back to Oasis. He teamed up with his brother in law Liam Howlett and the wives as art of a fitness regime. Wearing tights.
's brilliant isn't he? Note how throughout these pictures Liam appears to do the square root of my arse.
I'm not entirely sure what Nicole and Natalie Appleton were up to or why on earth they thought it would be a good idea to drag their husbands along, but it's fair to say it doesn't look like their hearts are in it.
What the hell is Liam wearing? He looks like a cat burglar out of the Beano FFS.
Pun time? Ours is up there ^^ Stop Coughing your Lungs Out^^ and it's a bit (a lot) shit.
Liam Gallagher led his Oasis bandmates in a game of air guitar over the weekend – perhaps poking fun at his feud with brother Noel, 42, who recently quit the group.
The singer, 36 – plus guitarist Gem Archer, 42, bassist Andy Bell, 39, and drummer Chris Sharrock, 45 – were in the Garden Gate pub in Hampstead, north London, on Saturday with Prodigy pal Liam Howlett, 38, family and crew members.
An onlooker told me: “Everybody was in good spirits, particularly Liam, who was making everybody laugh.
“He was doing lots of air guitar movements and chuckling. Whether it was taking the mick out of his brother it was hard to tell.
“There was a real party atmosphere and it seemed like a farewell booze-up following the end of the tour, or maybe a proper goodbye.
“It appeared like Noel was the real outcast in the band and Liam is still top dog in their circle.”
