Kasabian Wouldn’t Be A Band Without Liam Gallagher

Kasabian have talked about the influence of Liam Gallagher on their music, speaking at the VO5 NME Awards 2018.

The former Oasis frontman was awarded the Godlike Genius award at this year’s ceremony, and NME asked Kasabian how Liam had an impact on them.

“He means everything,” Serge said. “He’s amazing,” Tom agreed.

“There wouldn’t be us if it wasn’t for him. You need a two hour therapy session for how important that man was in my life.”

Serge went on to cite Liam’s Umbro tracksuit that he wore during Oasis’ Maine Road gig in 1996.

Serge then joked that he had slept with Gallagher before, adding that he was “too hairy”.

Liam Gallagher On Why He Should Have Won Three Q Awards

Liam Gallagher has said that he was robbed of a third Q Award, because Kasabian did not deserve to win Best Track for 'You're In Love With A Psycho'.

He took home Best Live Act and a Q Icon gong from the music awards ceremony but was disappointed his single 'Wall Of Glass' was not voted Best Track by Q readers.

He told Absolute Radio "I'd have had three to be fair because that '...Pyscho' tune by Kasabian is not fucking nowhere near as good as 'Wall Of Glass' and I know they think it is and I know the people voted for it and all that but deep down it ain't. I ain't a greedy person but I'm just letting people know. And Tom knows it, and Serge knows it. If I don't put it out there, it'll ruin my night. 'Wall Of Glass' is much better than that fucking '...Psycho' tune."

Video: Kasabian's Tom Meighan Wants Oasis Or Led Zeppelin To Headline Glastonbury

Kasabian's Tom Meighan has backed either Oasis or Led Zeppelin to reform and headline Glastonbury in 2015.

The frontman spoke to NME at the NME Awards Launch Party about headlining Glastonbury and who he'd like to see play the festival in 2015. See above to watch now.

Foo Fighters are the current favourites to take one of the three headline slots at next year's festival. Dave Grohl himself has told NME that he is interested in the headline slot, with Emily Eavis responding to his comments. William Hill subsequently cut the US band's odds from 14/1 outsiders to 8/11 favourites.

Liam Gallagher Terrified Kasabian During Helicopter Flight

Liam Gallagher terrified Kasabian when he started play fighting with them during a helicopter flight.

The 'Eez-eh' hitmakers bonded with the rocker when they supported his band Oasis during their run of hometown gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park in 2009.

They got on so well that guitarist Serge Pizzorno and singer Tom Meighan were taken to Scotland for lunch in the helicopter with Liam but decided to be mischievousness.

Serge said: ''On the way back, Tom and Liam started play-fighting, rocking the thing, screaming. I'm sitting there going 'Maaaate!' This ain't like the back of a car, man, we're f***ing miles in the air.

This rain starts coming down and the captain goes, 'Right, we've gotta land because the weather's terrible.'

Liam's like, 'We're not landing, man, just drive through it!' - in the end we had to land. We had to emergency land in this airport.'' The stars then went back to their hotel and Serge and Tom were still starstruck after spending time with Liam.

Serge gushed to NME magazine: ''Liam's such an amazing dude. He's funny and proper looks after us. Those gigs were unbelievable.''

Celebrities Flock To Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green Autumn Winter 2013 Season Launch

Numerous rockstars flocked to launch of Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green London Collections: Men's Autumn/Winter 2013 on Monday night (January 7th 2013) at The Arts Club and he certainly seemed to be in celebratory mode. He was spotted in his usual indie get-up with a black jacket and jeans, decidedly avoiding the opportunity to don a smart suit on the red carpet. On the other hand, he wasn't the only one - his longtime bandmate Gem Archer, who joined him in his band Beady Eye after Oasis, wore an identical jacket and their friend Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan favoured very similar style shoes. Andy Bell, also from Beady Eye, attended though looked distinctly smarter.

Gallagher's wife Nicole Appleton from All Saints was also at the event showing her support for her fashion designer husband. Aside from the new collection, he has several ventures for Pretty Green he wants to concentrate on in 2013 including a range of eyewear and bags to add to the business in its fourth year of running. 'We're looking into accessories heavily, having dabbled in footwear', he said at the launch. 'The world's our oyster really, we'd like to think. There's the opportunity to grow into what we want.'

BBC Radio 1 presenter Fearne Cotton was another guest at the launch, heavily pregnant and supported by her boyfriend Jesse Wood, the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Despite being on maternity leave, she took a break from resting to attend the event and looked 'pretty green' in a patterned turquoise and black minidress teamed with leopard print ankle boots that cleverly took the attention away from her bump. Though, as a fashion designer herself, you can hardly blame her for knowing all the tricks of the trade.

Liam Howlett from The Prodigy paid tribute to the label with a thin green scarf while his wife Natalie Appleton (also from All Saints and sister of Nicole) turned heads in a net top and tight leather pants. It certainly wasn't a night for conventional red carpet glamour but was dazzling nonetheless. The range of different styles donned by the evening's celebs went some way to prove a point Gallagher made about his clothing not fitting into one category, as inspiration seems to be everywhere. 'People might say it is but we didn't set out to create a Mod label', he insisted. 'It's music, from the Sixties and Seventies.'

'The Inbetweeners' star James Buckley was also in attendance looking chipper as usual. He hung up his role as the egocentric though secretly insecure character of Jay from the British comedy series in 2011 following a three series run and a closing movie. In November last year (2012) he married his long-term girlfriend Clair Meek at Dundas Castle in Scotland and the pair have a 14 month old son together named Harrison. Whether he's named after Blake Harrison, the actor who played Jay's best friend in the series, is unknown  though we'd sort of like that to be the case.

Liam Gallagher Says Beady Eye Have Gone For The Full Pink Floyd Trip On New Album

In Oasis's heyday a call going out to a brass band to join a studio session would have been a sign the drug threshold had been reached.

But Liam Gallagher insists his new band Beady Eye are willing to do things a bit differently on their second album in a quest for more rock ’n’ roll success.

Last week he had a pop at Mumford & Sons for looking like they might have nits — but the brass section isn’t a sign he’s joining a colliery band.

Speaking at the launch of his new fashion range for Pretty Green, he said: “We’ve gone for the full Pink Floyd trip, man.

“There’s the psychedelic stuff and then the rock ’n’ roll bangers.

“Our producer Dave called up our manager and told him to get a brass band round sharpish one day.

“If it makes it a better record, I’m having it man. I’m buzzing for it. It’s going to blow people’s minds.”

It was a brave move getting Dave Sitek on board. He’s in a band called TV On The Radio and produced Foals and Yeah Yeah Yeahs records.

They are the kind of characters you might expect to be mingling with the Derek Zoolander fashion crowd with ironic facial hair.

But Liam and his team have done the business slipping into the fashion world over the last four or five years — and they are cashing in.

Pretty Green unveiled the new face of their brand, Jesse Wood, the guitarist son of Rolling Stone Ronnie.

He’s a top bloke and a great shout for the brand. He brought his heavily preggers missus Fearne Cotton along, but they did the back door shuffle when her feet couldn’t take any more.

Inbetweeners hero James Buckley was in his element, too.

The actor, who owns so much he must keep Liam’s label ticking over, joked that he was trying to steal some threads. He tweeted: “Tried to walk out with those suit jackets.”

Speaking about being newly married to Scottish girlfriend CLAIR MEEK, he said: “My father-in-law came over to me at the wedding and said, ‘Don’t you ever be doing a Scottish accent in any films now, you hear me?’ I got the message loud and clear.”

Kasabian’s Tom Meighan was out for the night too. And being out for the night, he’s probably still going as you read this.

Noel Gallagher And Kasabian To Record A New Version Of 'Walking In The Air'

Noel Gallagher and Kasabian are reportedly among artists in line to record a new version of 'Walking in the Air'.

The festive classic is to be given an update for an upcoming new version of Christmas animated classic The Snowman on Channel 4 this December.

Editors are also said to have expressed interest in recording a cover version of the song, reports The Mirror.

"The Snowman animated film, from which the song comes, is getting a modern twist and there are a lot of beardy blokes - who remember the film from their childhood - who are really keen to get involved," an insider claimed. "Everybody wants to pay homage to the Yuletide carrot-nosed legend.

"Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian and Tom Smith from Editors were among the first to be asked, but the producers hope to rope in the likes of Noel Gallagher and the indie elite, too.

"Nobody wanted to do a straight cover of such a classic song, so it had to be a bit different. This was the only way The Snowman could possibly get any cooler."

The track will reportedly be recorded by the end of November for inclusion in the film.

Channel 4 confirmed plans to make a new version of the classic 1982 film last December. It was originally stated that 'Walking in the Air' would be replaced with a new original song.

'Walking in the Air' was performed by Peter Auty in the original film, while Aled Jones scored a big hit with his version in 1985.

The Snowman producer John Coates passed away in September, after working on the new version.

Kasabian Wouldn't Ask Noel Gallagher To Join Them

Kasabian wouldn't ask Noel Gallagher to join their band because he would "dictate everything".

Former Oasis guitarist Noel recently said he would have loved to join the 'Days are Forgotten' band if they had asked, but singer Tom Meighan isn't sure his personality would fir with the rest of the group.

He said: "Nah, he'd dictate everything too much. Seriously, he would have been f***ing brilliant, but he has his own thing going on now."

Noel is now frontman of solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and currently touring the US. He recently admitted he is particularly fussy to tour with, especially when it comes to keeping things clean, saying a stray banana skin "would not last 10 f***ing seconds on my tour bus."

Tom's bandmate, Serge Pizzorno, added while he may not be a good member of Kasabian, they're still good friends with Noel.

He said: "We're good mates, so we could wheel him out no problem."

However, Tom plays down any comparisons between them and Oasis, saying they have the "same spirit," but are very different as bands.

He added to Shortlist magazine: "They were one offs. A phenomenon."

Tom Meighan has revealed that he'd listened to part of Liam Gallagher's new material from his Beady Eye project in a hotel room about three months ago.

He said he liked what he'd heard, even though it was unmastered.

"I've heard Liam's record and it's fantastic," he revealed. "What he's doing is amazing.

"He was the frontman of Oasis. He's got nothing to prove any more. I love him and adore him but it's so not Oasis at all."

Liam Gallagher's Magic Beady Eye: Tom Meighhan Is A Fan

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has given Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye his rock seal of approval.

Leicester lad Tom has had a private listen to the group’s debut album and reckons it’s going to blow fans away.

Speaking about the disc, which isn’t out until next year, Tom, 29, said of the 39-year-old: “Liam came to my room about three months ago and put it on a little stereo and you know I’m just buzzing for him.

“He’s really done something different from Oasis so I’m really pleased he’s getting out there. His album’s fantastic and its not Oasis any more, it’s Liam’s band.

“I support him all the way with that. I don’t think he cares [what people think], he just wants to make music.”

Speaking to Absolute Radio DJ Ben Jones, 33, the Kasabian rocker says his crew are feeling similarly inspired.

The gang will headline Sunday’s stage at next year’s Isle Of Wight festival and Tom is telling fans to expect the unexpected. He explained: “If people are expecting West Ryder or Underdog they’ve got another think coming because it’s nothing like the last record.

“We’re not the same band any more. We always keep changing. At the beginning of this year we went on tour to Australia and we had a few ideas.

“It all stems from Serge, he plants the seeds and this sort of giant beanstalk starts forming and then we take it in the studio and start to lay down the drums and go from there.”

Tom has promised you won’t see him on I’m A Celebrity, like Madchester legend Shaun Ryder, 48.

He added: “Shaun is amazing, just class to watch, you know.

“He’s a genius, but I could never do that to myself.”

Kasabian's Tom Meighan Compares Coldplay And Oasis

It's hardly Oasis versus Blur but Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan is trying to start a band war with Coldplay.

The cocky Brit Award winner says: "Chris Martin is all right if you're 35 and feeling sad that your mortgage repayments have gone up." Ouch.

He goes on to Q magazine: "But Liam [Gallagher] is the voice you want if you're feeling young and free and up for anything. In terms of honesty, looks and attitude there's no one left."

That'll be the 37-year-old Liam with the mortgage, we presume?

Kasabian's Tom Meighan: "It's Not Oasis Without Noel"

Kasabian's Tom Meighan is a huge admirer of Oasis and insists Liam Gallagher should release a solo album because he can still make "amazing" music without his brother Noel.

The singer - whose band joined Oasis on their last ever tour before they split in August - said in an interview with Q magazine: "I think Liam should go it alone. It's not Oasis without Noel, and I think they'd both agree with that. Did I see it coming? No I can't say I did. I was in Germany doing a terrible festival when someone texted me they'd split up and I was as shocked as anyone.

"I texted Liam and Noel just to say, 'I am really sorry and best of luck,' to both of them. It's sad but the new music will be just amazing."

Kasabian Star 'Understands Oasis Split'

Kasabian's Tom Meighan has admitted that he hardly speaks to his bandmate Serge Pizzorno when they are not on tour.

Tom told the News of the World that he can understand why Oasis split up last year.

He said: "We'll speak on the phone every now and then, but that's about it. I need time with the missus, you know?

"I can see why Liam and Noel fell out because if he was my brother, I'd probably kill Serge. I love the guy. We have arguments, but nothing bad. It's only through drunk rage that we scrap."
