Kasabian Wouldn’t Be A Band Without Liam Gallagher

Kasabian have talked about the influence of Liam Gallagher on their music, speaking at the VO5 NME Awards 2018.

The former Oasis frontman was awarded the Godlike Genius award at this year’s ceremony, and NME asked Kasabian how Liam had an impact on them.

“He means everything,” Serge said. “He’s amazing,” Tom agreed.

“There wouldn’t be us if it wasn’t for him. You need a two hour therapy session for how important that man was in my life.”

Serge went on to cite Liam’s Umbro tracksuit that he wore during Oasis’ Maine Road gig in 1996.

Serge then joked that he had slept with Gallagher before, adding that he was “too hairy”.

Liam Gallagher On Ray Davies, Noel, Kasabian, Paul Weller And More

The interviewer from Q told Liam Gallagher that Ray Davies from 'The Kinks' walked out of them at the 'Cafe Rouge' in London were this part of the interview is taking place

Liam "I see Ray Davies around sometimes, sometimes he says hello, sometimes he blanks me, I don't mind being blanked by Ray Davies."

Liam Gallagher puts the warmth his comeback received down to two main things: being out of the limelight for four years and returning with a strong collection of songs.

On working with songwriters and quotes he's interpreted as digs from Paul Weller and Serge Pizzorno as digs.

Liam: "I've been singing other people's lyrics my whole life and I own them. Once I get hold of them, I make them something else, like Elvis."

Liam thinks Noel, Weller and Kasabian are unnerved by him invading their space and taking money off their plate.

He said "There's been a smoke bomb gone off, and everyone's been blinded by what's gone down and the smoke's cleared and yours fucking truly is in the middle going, 'Come on, you cunts.'

At the day after the Q Interview when asked if Liam Gallagher's tweet about a truce with Noel was true.

His Girlfriend Debbie Gwyther is quoted by Q via email saying "It was Liam having too many Guinnesses, I'm holding you* responsible for the mayhem it caused".

*You as in the reporter for Q as they had been drinking for seven hours after Liam Gallagher had suggested a quick one.

Liam Gallagher On Why He Should Have Won Three Q Awards

Liam Gallagher has said that he was robbed of a third Q Award, because Kasabian did not deserve to win Best Track for 'You're In Love With A Psycho'.

He took home Best Live Act and a Q Icon gong from the music awards ceremony but was disappointed his single 'Wall Of Glass' was not voted Best Track by Q readers.

He told Absolute Radio "I'd have had three to be fair because that '...Pyscho' tune by Kasabian is not fucking nowhere near as good as 'Wall Of Glass' and I know they think it is and I know the people voted for it and all that but deep down it ain't. I ain't a greedy person but I'm just letting people know. And Tom knows it, and Serge knows it. If I don't put it out there, it'll ruin my night. 'Wall Of Glass' is much better than that fucking '...Psycho' tune."

'This Feeling offer one of the few consistent platforms for up and coming bands. If you're going to see the emergence of a new great band you'll see them at This Feeling first. Come the revolution they will be crowned Kings. Long live This Feeling.' Carl Barat

'We are living in a world where guitar music has been marginalised so what This Feeling is doing at the moment is vital. This Feeling is the best club in The UK for future Rock and Roll stars. They believe in the power of guitar music and when Rock and Roll makes it’s glorious comeback you can bet your arse you will have heard it first at This Feeling' Noel Gallagher

'Single-handedly flying the flag for new British guitar music' Serge Pizzorno

Representing the very best of the new classic British guitar bands 'Alive' is This Feeling’s biggest national tour in its 11 year history. The club night has organically become the nation's No.1 live new music event and now has stages at major festivals inc Reading and Isle of Wight but the ethos remains the same; put on bands we love and back them to the hilt.

We've been told for years guitar music's dead, where's the next big band gonna come from? They're here, right here, right now. Years of building an authentic underground scene are coming to a head...THREE of the most exciting new prospects in the world of indie rock will tour together for the very first time in October 2017 PLUS the cream of the local crop in each city.

A BIT ABOUT THE BANDS...

THE SHIMMER BAND (all shows)

The Shimmer Band have only released three singles so far (‘Freedom’, ‘Sunkick’, ‘Jacknife and the Death Call’) but they’ve gained such a huge following in so little time doing serious damage at this summer's festivals. The band make soaring euphoric electronica-infused indie with nods to late '90s Verve, U2, Doves and Kasabian. Arenas await these lot but academy’s will get their roof well and truly blown off come October.

BANG BANG ROMEO (all shows)

Bang Bang Romeo’s song ‘Johannesburg’ is the perfect introduction to rising Doncaster four-piece guitar band. A sound layered Hammond, brass, Ennio Morricone-esque warbly reverb and overarching magnetism of singer Lead singer Anastasia Walker comes across like Shirley Bassey if she’s grown up on a diet of The Last Shadow Puppets, The National, and Fleetwood Mac. Anthemic, stadium ready new single 'Chemical' is out now.

BLACKWATERS (all shows)

Formed at University in Guildford three years ago, indie rockers Blackwaters make clever, raw indie punk and are a perfect outfit to sit beside bands like The Libertines. The band currently only have a handful of singles online and with their Dead Kennedys-esque energy and Essex-raised singer Maximillion Tanner’s Jamie T-esque ear for pop hooks, the band are all set to explode.

PLUS SPECIAL GUESTS...

YVES (Bristol)
Catchy, infectious guitar driven melodies with a choruses so big they demand to be belted out at the top of ones voice (after only one listen). If you’re a fan of Catfish and The Bottlemen, you’ll love 'em.

CHAPEL ROW (Cardiff)

Thunderous bass lines, sky scraping guitars, infectious melodies wrapped around in your face vocals. One of Cardiff's best new Rock n Roll bands are coming your way.

THE ASSIST (Birmingham)
Wolverhampton wonders The Assist new single “Wonderful’ is a sumptuous slice of indie dance rock. Following the success of their debut EP ‘Trouble’ which charted top 20 in the alt iTunes chart last year and rapturously received festival sets at Isle of Wight, TRNSMT and Reading this year, these boys are ones to watch.

SHEAFS (York)
Raucous in yer face punk rock reminiscent of (whisper it) the Arctic Monkeys. Seriously, that great. One of the stars of this summer's festival circuit, judging by the reaction (nuts) it's when ,not if, they step up to the main stages.

VIDA (Glasgow)
Vida’s previous single, the Oasis/Coral-esque ‘Fade Away’ was one of our favourite tunes of last year. The Hot Scots have followed it up with another beauty, the Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene / Weller) produced current single ‘Where We Came From’. Make no mistake Vida wear their influences loud and proud but this is no Oasis/Ocean Colour Scene tribute act, these boys are the real deal.

PROLETARIAT (Manchester)
Proletariat have been together less than a year but have sold out every Manchester show they’ve played, ripped up Y Not and Tramlines with an electricity and chemistry well beyond their years AND been asked to support Baby Strange and Cabbage on tour. There’s no messing about, Proletariat are direct, honest and straight to the point just like new single ‘Ignorance’, a snarling, frenzied riposte

Serge Pizzorno On Why Liam Gallagher Has A Place In His Heart

'I'm always going to be fascinated by what he does because he has a place in my heart'

Kasabian‘s Serge Pizzorno has said that Liam Gallagher ‘saved his life’, hailing the former Oasis frontman as one of the ‘all-time greats’.

The guitarist was speaking to Q Magazine, when he said that Liam ‘has a place in my heart’ – and described how he fell in love with the singer during his teenage years.

“He saved my life,” said Pizzorno. “This path that I’ve walked – if I’d not have seen him get up on stage and do his thing, I wouldn’t have walked it. I’m always going to be fascinated by what he does because he has a place in my heart.

“I was 14, 15, and I remember when they did Maine Road he wore an Umbro tracksuit. An Umbro tracksuit on anyone is a sports tracksuit, but he managed to make it look like the most desirable item of clothing. He managed to make it look like Gucci or something, and I bought one and wore it to school.”

Serge also described how Liam had been integral in supporting Kasabian during the ‘early days’ of their career.

Pizzorno continued: “I will never forget that in the early days he picked us out and said he was a fan. You can’t imagine what that was like for some kids from Leicester, from nowhere, for him to give us the nod. I will never forget that.”

Describing his relationship with Liam, he added: “He’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life. His sense of humour – if you spend time with him it’s such a buzz, he’s just so funny.”

Noel Gallagher On Oasis, Liam, Blur, Mick Jagger, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian And More

Noel Gallagher is putting his past behind him, releasing a new solo album, ruling out a reunion with his brother Liam and even being nice about one-time arch-rivals Blur.

Oasis split five years ago after nearly two decades of fractious sibling rivalry between guitarist Noel and his younger brother Liam, the band’s frontman.

“I haven’t seen him for about five months but we text quite a lot. It’s usually him insulting me,” laughs Gallagher, during an interview with AFP in London.

Liam’s post-Oasis band Beady Eye recently broke up as well but he is quick to dismiss any suggestion of a reunion with his 42-year-old brother. “The answer is no,” he says.

His new album “Chasing Yesterday”, his second since the band split, is released on March 2 and features his signature combination of layered guitars and elliptical lyrics.

The star is full of enthusiasm for the life of a solo artist, perhaps recalling the arguments and dramas which accompanied Oasis’s global success, selling 60 million albums and scoring hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger”.

“It’s more rewarding, it’s more fulfilling. I like being in charge of everything,” he says. “I just write songs and I collect the songs together and I make an album out of them.”

Best singers are ‘wild animals’

Gallagher is now a 47-year-old family man with three children who is more likely to be found watching his beloved Manchester City than indulging a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.

His legendary bile towards musicians whose work he does not rate has not diminished with age.

“Beyonce, not for me. My wife loves her but she’s got no taste. Katy Perry? Even my daughter hates her and she’s 15. Sam Smith? Not for me,” he says.

“Traditional rock stars are like wild animals Mick Jagger or my brother,” he adds.

“They don’t give a fuck. Modern rock stars, Alex Turner (of Arctic Monkeys) or Serge from Kasabian, they do give a fuck, they care about their hair style, they care about what they think.”

He is more forgiving towards Oasis’s old Britpop rivals Blur, who this month announced their first new album in 12 years, “The Magic Whip”.

“I think it will probably be very good if it in any way represents what Damon (Albarn, Blur’s frontman) has been doing recently,” Gallagher says.

“Old groups are great but what really lets old groups down, they don’t fucking write good songs any more.”

He does not even rule out working with Albarn in future.

“I would like to. We’re both gonna be busy boys for the next couple of years. But you never know,” he says.

Brit Awards Are 'Rigged' Claims Noel Gallagher

Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher has accused the Brits of being "rigged" to the detriment of independent artists.

"I'm an independent artist and we get shafted by people at the Brits," the musician told the BBC's Colin Paterson.

"You won't see an independent artist [among the nominees], unless they sell 50 million records and it becomes an impossibility to leave them out."

The annual ceremony, he claimed, was "a bit of a carve-up between the majors" - though he said he still enjoyed going.

"Don't let this put you off giving me a table," he continued. "I like award ceremonies and all that social scene - it's a good laugh."

Gallagher, who now performs with his High Flying Birds band, cited Kasabian's omission from this year's nominations as particularly egregious.

"If Kasabian don't fulfil the criteria for one of the best groups, what is that saying?" he said of the Leicester-based rockers.

His comments follow a claim by Kasabian's Sergio Pizzorno that the band were victims of a Brits "conspiracy" against "working class rock 'n' roll bands".

A spokeswoman for the Brit Awards said: "Over 1,000 music enthusiasts which include representation from all sectors of the music industry (record labels, publishers, managers, agents, media, NUS Ents officers along with the 'Artist' sector) are invited to be official Brits Voting Academy members.

"In order to ensure the integrity of the vote, the voting process is managed and scrutinised by Electoral Reform Services (ERS)."

Kasabian were nominated nine times between 2005 and 2012 and were named best British group in 2010.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds performed at the 2012 ceremony, at which he was nominated for the best male award.

Oasis won five Brits and a lifetime achievement award prior to the band's disintegration in 2009.

Sam Smith leads the field at this year's Brit Awards, having been nominated in five categories.

Ant and Dec will host the ceremony, which takes place in London's O2 arena on 25 February.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds were confirmed on Monday as the headline act at the Calling festival on London's Clapham Common on 4 July.

Noel Gallagher On His Secret New Project, New Album And More

Notes taken by two lucky people who went to Noel Gallagher's interview and acoustic performance with John Wilson for BBC Radio 4's Mastertapes series.

I think the most potentially exciting thing was Noel let slip about a separate project he's doing he quickly back tracked as obviously shouldn't have said something.

He said he's got ten songs backing track recorded but only two lines of lyrics as he's struggling as he's not emotionally attached to the project, (he thinks they are amazing as instrumentals). John Wilson asked if was a soundtrack and he said no it will be an album.

Also the 'AKA.. What A Life' lyric came from when Noel was sleepwalking. Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno asked if he was still sleepwalking, Noel said yes and Serge said... What A Life!

John asked him what his plan was for the future after 'Chasing Yesterday' and he said his plan was not to take a long break.

He's got loads of songs left over from Oasis era.

He said most of the songs 'on the internet' that have yet to be released will probably never get recorded as he constantly writing newer songs.

'AKA... What A Life' and 'If I Had A Gun' would've been Oasis songs

The solo in 'Riverman' is very good and performed by Paul Stacey and very reminiscent of David Crosby.

John Wilson picked out 'The Right Stuff' as his stand out track (it was unprompted and he just came out with his like for the track).

Thanks to jaq515

'The Right Stuff' is left over from the Amorphous Androgynous album, perhaps why it's more 'out there' as the interviewer described it.

Apparently a cracking solo on 'Riverman'.

Noel's written an entire album of instrumentals that he hasn't yet been able to put words to for a 'side project.' The interviewer asked if it was for a movie soundtrack to which he said it wasn't and it will be an album if he can put write the lyrics for it. Was all rather odd and intriguing.

Thanks to willd255

Liam Gallagher Terrified Kasabian During Helicopter Flight

Liam Gallagher terrified Kasabian when he started play fighting with them during a helicopter flight.

The 'Eez-eh' hitmakers bonded with the rocker when they supported his band Oasis during their run of hometown gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park in 2009.

They got on so well that guitarist Serge Pizzorno and singer Tom Meighan were taken to Scotland for lunch in the helicopter with Liam but decided to be mischievousness.

Serge said: ''On the way back, Tom and Liam started play-fighting, rocking the thing, screaming. I'm sitting there going 'Maaaate!' This ain't like the back of a car, man, we're f***ing miles in the air.

This rain starts coming down and the captain goes, 'Right, we've gotta land because the weather's terrible.'

Liam's like, 'We're not landing, man, just drive through it!' - in the end we had to land. We had to emergency land in this airport.'' The stars then went back to their hotel and Serge and Tom were still starstruck after spending time with Liam.

Serge gushed to NME magazine: ''Liam's such an amazing dude. He's funny and proper looks after us. Those gigs were unbelievable.''

Liam And Noel Gallagher Are One Of The Most Stylish Rock Stars

Noel Gallagher has beaten his brother Liam to the title of Most Stylish Rock Star.

The guitarist - who quit Oasis in 2009 - has topped a poll to find the best dressed rocker, and even though Beady Eye singer Liam has his own Pretty Green fashion line he could only make fifth spot.

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner - who headlines Glastonbury this weekend - came second, Kasabian axe man made third place, while Miles Kane, famous for his sharp suits and Mod style, finished fourth.

The British poll was carried out by designer menswear store www.stuartslondon.com.
Ravi Grewal, owner of Stuarts London, said: ''It's good to see that musicians are still looked up to when it comes to their fashion choices.

And it seems smartly dressed rockers like Gallagher, Turner and Pizzorno have overtaken scruffy rockers

''Alex Turner has experimented with different looks, from his early days in Barracuta jackets to his rocker image today, but he always pulls them off perfectly.

''Liam and Miles both gave him a run for his money in the poll, and either would have been great choices as winners - their styles mix statement pieces like Liam's leopard print shoes or Miles's flashy suits, with classic wardrobe staples.''

Other notable entrants in the top 10 included 'Lightning Bolt' singer Jake Bugg in at number seven, while sharply dressed Brandon Flowers, whose band The Killers headlined their first ever Wembley Stadium show last weekend, came in at number eight.
The 'Modfather' Paul Weller rounded off the top 10.

Liam and his band Beady Eye - who just released new album 'BE' - are set to play a surprise set at the Glastonbury music festival which kicks on Friday (28.06.13)

Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno Confirms That Jay Mehler Is Joining Beady Eye

Sergio Pizzorno has confirmed what Twitter and various forums have been discussing for days that Jay Mehler is joining Beady Eye.

"Jay is our bro we're all good and the last six years have been mega. He's moving on and will be incredible in Beady Eye. We thought posting an awesome video was the best way to let you guys know that he will be missed, but here it is in black and white too. Sergio x"

Noel Gallagher Rounds Off 150 Date World Tour In Style

Noel Gallagher rounded off his 150-date world tour in typical rock ’n’ roll style – with a 4.30am finish on the dancefloor.

The former Oasis man played a belter of a gig to a packed Shepherd's Bush Empire – one of the best venues in London.

The crowd lapped it up, especially Angel Child, Aka... What A Life and his acoustic version of Supersonic.

Kate Moss, Lara Stone and David Walliams watched from the balcony as he signed off an amazing 18-month campaign with his High Flying Birds.

Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno also watched from the wings, nodding in appreciation.

The party rolled on at Home House into the wee hours – with some seriously ropey dancing to David Bowie hits towards the end of the night.

The cost to put on the free bar probably negated all profits from the tour, though. Not that Noel needs the money. Top gig, epic night.

Noel Gallagher And Kasabian To Record A New Version Of 'Walking In The Air'

Noel Gallagher and Kasabian are reportedly among artists in line to record a new version of 'Walking in the Air'.

The festive classic is to be given an update for an upcoming new version of Christmas animated classic The Snowman on Channel 4 this December.

Editors are also said to have expressed interest in recording a cover version of the song, reports The Mirror.

"The Snowman animated film, from which the song comes, is getting a modern twist and there are a lot of beardy blokes - who remember the film from their childhood - who are really keen to get involved," an insider claimed. "Everybody wants to pay homage to the Yuletide carrot-nosed legend.

"Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian and Tom Smith from Editors were among the first to be asked, but the producers hope to rope in the likes of Noel Gallagher and the indie elite, too.

"Nobody wanted to do a straight cover of such a classic song, so it had to be a bit different. This was the only way The Snowman could possibly get any cooler."

The track will reportedly be recorded by the end of November for inclusion in the film.

Channel 4 confirmed plans to make a new version of the classic 1982 film last December. It was originally stated that 'Walking in the Air' would be replaced with a new original song.

'Walking in the Air' was performed by Peter Auty in the original film, while Aled Jones scored a big hit with his version in 1985.

The Snowman producer John Coates passed away in September, after working on the new version.

Noel Gallagher On Playing At Croke Park In 1983 And More

Noel Gallagher will play in Croke Park tonight as support to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it will not be the first time he has played the venue.

Earlier today Gallagher recalled the time as a 16-year-old schoolboy he played a match in Croke Park in 1983 against Kilmacud Crokes.

The Gallagher boys were involved in the Oisín GAA club in Manchester as youngsters and took the field as under-age Lancashire champions.

Gallagher’s memories of the match are vague except that he scored a point and his team got “leathered”. It was his first visit to Dublin.

“I enjoyed it at the time I’ve got to say,” he said, “I was still at school then. Quite quickly after school I went smoking and drinking. Birds and drugs take over. Playing football goes out the window.”

“I got as far as I could take it,” he said of his short career in Gaelic football. “I’m not an athlete. Too much hard graft goes into that.”

While in Dublin, members of the Oisín club stayed in the homes of players from the club. By coincidence Gallagher met the person who put him up in Dublin while playing a concert in Melbourne last January.

“He was about my age and he said to me ‘were you in Dublin at a certain date and I said yes’. His mum and dad had a picture of me and often wondered was it the same guy. Apparently I used to eat a lot of Weetabix.”

He was back in Croke Park this afternoon to announce details of a joint-headlining show that he and his band The High Flying Birds will be playing with Kasabian in Marlay Park on August 23rd.

Kasabian lead guitarist Sergio Pizzorno said he and Gallagher have been friends for eight years. The band supported Oasis in Slane in 2009.

Kasabian, who have been one of the biggest acts to come of the UK in recent years, have credited Oasis with inspiring much of their success especially bringing guitar music back to the fore.

However, Pizzorno said comparisons between his band and Oasis as “laziness”.

“Oasis made you believe that you actually be in a band. It was very much a punk attitude. We play guitar too, but that’s where it ends,” he said.

“Writers they have got things to do. They might read something you said and then they say ‘I don’t really like these cats so I won’t give them a chance and I’ll say what everyone else says about them’.

“We’ve kind of used it in our favour. For a lot of people we have been underestimated. When they come and see us live and listen to the CDs, there’s so much different that you can’t put us in the same category as Oasis.”

Tickets priced at €49.50 go on sale on Friday.

Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Thirty Two

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Yes…

So, the gig here in Melbourne was great. (Yes, I'm still in Melbourne! They don't call this the Big Day Off for nothing.) It was at a place whose name escapes me just now, in a suburb called St. Kilda… A real saint? I think not. I mean, I'm no expert on the Bible, but when "they" forced us to study it at gunpoint at school I don't recall a St. Kilda.

The venue is most famous for having the oldest neon sign in the Southern Hemisphere!! (There's a little factoid for you.)

The gig was a bit weird to start with. It was all seated and the crowd remained so for the first three songs. It was like they were at the cinema… Now I know how the support band must've felt!

Anyway, I felt as though I must speak to these people…

"Do you HAVE to sit down?" I asked.

"NO!!" They shouted back as one.

"Well… Can you stand up, please?" I asked again, slightly annoyed.

"YISS," they replied in an Aussie accent and up they all stood… Just like that!! Now that did lead to some particularly bad dancing, I must say, but it was a price worth paying.

Wasn't much going on after the show so I legged it quick sharp.

Was up early yesterday. Went for a wander up town. Nothing to do, and all day to do it. Did pass a strange place which had a sign above the door that said, "VICTORIAN HOBBY CENTRE"?? What the fuck?? What do they do in there? Whip poor people? I was gonna go in to satisfy my curiosity but as I'm from the North they would've probably put me to work as a chimney sweep or a miner or a beggar.

Bumped into comrade Serge and another one of Kasabian, whose name I can never fucking remember. Had a bit of lunch… A mad Mexican, if you must know.

On the way back to my hotel I passed another establishment that had a sign over the door that said… "VICTORIAN DETECTIVE SERVICE"!!! What the fucking fuck?? Was there an actual Victorian detective inside? With a top hat? And a cane? And a monocle? Holding a massive magnifying glass?? I do hope so.

Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Thirty One

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Well… So? I've become addicted to watching the Aussie news. It's beyond hilarious.

Honestly, it's like a spoof show "AUSSIE NEWS (MATE)". Someone should do that, it'd be mega. I'd watch it anyway.

After the ludicrous episode with the PM's shoe these are just a couple of things that I've caught in between gigs and promo…

THE AUSSIE COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS!!! Yes, indeed. They've invented a new musical genre. Aussie Country. So I'm watching the news and they go to the Aussie Country Awards (The Golden Guitars) where they're interviewing some of the winners of the said Golden Guitars… They were singing like Country, y'all, but talking Aussie (mate). Dressed like proper honest-to-goodness cowboys. 40 gallon hats, leather waistcoats and the boots, but using words like "ripper" and "beady"… Very odd, no??

Now the other thing was maybe the weirdest thing I've ever seen on national television news. So much so that when I got down to the Big Day Out site I had to ask a few of the natives for confirmation of what I thought I'd just seen. And they confirmed it like it was the most natural thing in the world, which of course it is to these people. THE ANNUAL TUNA-RAMA FESTIVAL!!!! A festival that celebrates all things wonderful about tuna… TUNA??? That's right, tuna… The tuna fish.

Now, there was the (un)usual local news b-roll fodder; interviewing mums, grannies and kids… All having a ripper of a day eating tuna sandwiches and tuna salad and... Well, that was it one would've thought? But no… At the climax of the festival they play a little game called tuna-hurling… TUNA-HURLING!!!! That's right, I watched (checking frantically if I'd been spiked) as big burly Bruces and little burly Shielas and even a granny took a foot long tuna fish… a real fucking tuna fish and swung it round like an Olympic athlete throwing the hammer up a pre-marked out track?!!?

And they covered it on the news like it was just a load of drunk people in a field throwing a dead fish around for fun… Which, of course, it was.

The scary thing is those were just two of the things I caught. (There was another story with a guy graphically describing how he'd been trying to get two different kinds of dung beetles to mate to make one super dung fucking ninja warrior but, we won't go into that…)

What else is going on while I'm away from the TV?? I might have to start getting this shit recorded and shipped to England once a month, it's essential viewing.

Anyway, enough of that brilliant nonsense.

The gig was good. We were indoors in a tent. It was very, very hot. Seemed to be a bit of a fancy dress vibe down the front. I saw a pirate and a cowboy. We didn't play very well. No one seemed to mind though.

Kasabian were having one of their legendary parties at some club or other down town. Last men standing were me and Serge at 5am. A good shift. As we left it was starting to get light… and fuck me if it didn't start to ever-so-slightly rain… I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so I did neither… I passed out.

Still raining now.
