WaterAid’s Christmas auction, featuring special edition signed Q Award vinyl records from some of the country’s best-known music acts, launches on 26th November.  All the money raised from the auction will go to international charity WaterAid.

The full collection of autographed vinyl records includes: Sir Tom Jones, Noel Gallagher, Chris Martin, Foals, Gary Numan, Jazzie B (Soul II Soul), Mark Ronson, Duran Duran, New Order, Roger Taylor (Queen), James Bay, Bernard Sumner (Joy Division, New Order), Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), Danny Goffey (Supergrass), Midge Ure (Ultravox), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), The Libertines, Jean Michel Jarre, La Roux, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Royal Blood, Ella Eyre, Foxes and host of the Q awards Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell.

Tony Iommi, the legendary lead guitarist from Black Sabbath, signed a Gibson Les Paul guitar that will also be available in the auction. He was the winner of the prestigious Gibson Les Paul Award at the Q Awards this year for his outstanding contribution to music.

All the money raised from the auction will go towards WaterAid’s winter appeal Deliver Life, giving mums and babies in the world’s poorest communities the best start in life - simply through clean water and hygiene.  Every pound bid on this auction will be doubled by the UK Government, meaning this auction can help twice as many people this Christmas.

WaterAid is the official charity of the Q Awards and is also one of the official charities of Glastonbury Festival.

WaterAid’s online Christmas auction runs on eBay from now until Sunday 6th December 2015:

'We've Made It' Alt-J's Response To Noel Gallagher's Criticism

Alt-J have responded to being the latest victims of Noel Gallagher's sharp tongue.

Gus Unger-Hamilton told Newsbeat it's "a right of passage to get a pasting from him".

In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Gallagher said he was "no way a fan of Alt-J", despite buying their track Left Hand Free.

When he was asked why, he replied: "I don't know. One of them's got a moustache, and that's unacceptable."

Alt-J have taken it on the chin and rather than getting upset, are adding it to their list of achievements as a band.

"Well, I think I said that we'd know we had made it when we were slagged off by Noel Gallagher, so there you go," Gus laughed.

Gus is the one who has the facial hair that Noel finds so "unacceptable."

"I'm glad he likes the song, I'm sorry he doesn't like my moustache, but it is here to stay I'm afraid."

It might not be the end of the story though, as both acts have been announced as headliners for this year's Latitude Festival.

According to Gus, sharing the bill with Noel Gallagher hasn't taken the shine off their first UK headline slot.

"It's really amazing, headlining has such a weight to it, so to be on our second album and be doing that, it just feels incredible."

Latitude Festival has given Foals and Two Door Cinema Club their first headline slot in the past, which some might argue is risky but has so far paid off.

"It is all about getting your first headline slot, once you have done one you are sort of established as a headliner," Gus explained.

"It can be really difficult to cross that line into getting your first headline slot, Latitude are brilliant at giving bands a chance."

Beady Eye, Muse, Foals And More Give Items To Be Sold In Aid Of Typhoon Victims

A host of bands including Beady Eye, Muse and Foals have donated special items to the Help 13 auction to raise money to help the survivors of the typhoon in the Philippines.

Among the list of items up for sale over the coming weeks include signed items by Suede and Pulled Apart By Horses as well as an exclusive collection of original artwork, collectible prints, signed singles and merchandise. The first auction begins today (November 29) and all money raised will go to the Oxfam Philippines Appeal.

Help Auction 13 was set up by Rebecca Vincent, a tattoo artist, who originally wanted to collect pieces from fellow artists and auction them off. Her husband, Pulled Apart By Horses drummer Lee Vincent suggested asking friends in bands to help too, which is when she enlisted the help of film-maker Charlotte Knight, who has worked with numerous bands.

"After the horrific effects of the recent typhoon in the Philippines, we called on friends and colleagues in the world of art and music to donate items and the response has been astounding," Rebecca Vincent said. "More people are getting in touch every day and the list of donations is growing and growing."

Pulled Apart By Horses' singer James Brown said: "Help Auction are helping people in this world that need help fast and now. So, to support something like this is beyond important to us and should also be for you."

Foals Yannis Philippakis Says Rock Needs More Spirit Like Liam Gallagher

Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis says rock 'n' roll needs more people like Liam Gallagher.

The 'Inhaler' singer insists there aren't enough hellraisers like the former Oasis man anymore and he wishes his peers would start partying more and enjoy being in a band.

Speaking at the Q Awards in London on Monday (21.10.13), Yannis said: ''I like Liam, I met him before and he was charmingly offensive and I like people like him. You look at the 90s and British guitar bands were mouthy. Now it's pre-prescribed dullness. It needs to change ... I've already had a scotch so I'm on my way. You can always rely on me to try and stir things up but rock 'n' roll is so square these days. Everyone's polite and groomed and media trained and they're worried about their careers. That's the problem.''

Although Yannis respects Liam, he claims the Beady Eye rocker still deserves a punch for his idiotic behaviour.

When asked if he'd be looking to start a feud with Liam's long-time rival Robbie Williams at the ceremony - which was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel - the rocker replied: ''I'd rather kick off with Liam than Robbie. What's Robbie ever done? Liam's the one that needs a hiding.''

Yannis, 27, and his bandmates took home the Best Live Act gong at the awards ceremony, beating Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons, Muse and The Stone Roses, to the accolade.

When asked by BANG Showbiz where the five-piece would be keeping their trophy, Yannis joked: ''The bog! You can have it in your bog if you want.''

Beady Eye have entered to the studio to work on their second album.

According to an announcement on the band's website, Beady Eye today (November 12) started working with producer Dave Sitek, best known as a member of TV On The Radio and closely associated with the New York scene of the 2000s. His credits include 'It's Blitz' by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, 'Antidotes' by Foals and 'Anywhere I Lay My Head' by Scarlett Johansson.

The official statement reads: "Beady Eye have returned to the studio to start on the follow up to their 'Different Gear, Still Speeding' debut album released last year. Liam, Gem, Andy and Chris started sessions today with producer Dave Sitek... Release date is yet to be confirmed but the as yet untitled album will come out in 2013."

n September, Beady Eye guitarist Andy Bell said that an Oasis reunion "probably should happen at some point".

Speaking to Drowned In Sound, the band's former bass player said that he'd 'love' to see an Oasis reunion happen, commenting: "I'd love it to happen. I think that life's too short for it not to happen. But, in reality, do I see it happening? At this point, no I don't. The matter rests entirely with the two brothers. It probably should happen at some point but if they can't make it happen, no one should force them to."
