Noel Gallagher On Russell Brand And Ricky Gervais

Taken from a interview with Dutch magazine 'OOR' that is on sale now, thanks to The Doctor for the translation.

If you live outside the Netherlands you can buy the magazine from here.

Interviewer: Russell Brand or Ricky Gervais?

Noel: Russell, he's a good friend of mine and we see each other often. A much more interesting person. You never know what he's up to, just that you always have to watch him.

Interviewer: Last year I saw you on the comedy night of Teenage Cancer Trust with Russell Brand in The Royal Albert Hall. You gave a somewhat questionable look from the box.

Noel: Yeah, that's because I'm very involved in the Teenage Cancer Trust and Russell and Noel Fielding were hosting the annual comedy gala. However, they had not prepared anything, and it showed. It was a big mess. It was funny, but messy and sometimes a bit over the edge. At the end of it, Russell got this boy up on stage, and shaved his head. Bald. Which is kind of acerb in a hall full of people who are sitting there in the context of the fight against cancer among youngsters. But, like I already said, you never know what he's up to.

Liam Gallagher Shows Off His Sausage Dogs

Britain’s coolest dog show took Primrose Hill by storm as celebrities flooded the park to show off their pet pooches on Saturday (September 8).

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and his wife, All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, showed up with their matching sausage dogs, and struck rock star poses with man’s best friend atop the hill.

His brother Noel’s ex-wife, Meg Mathews, was also in attendance as patron of the event which was organised to raise awareness about the puppy farming industry.

Queen guitarist Brian May addressed the crowd with a speech about the horrors of puppy breeding centres where pets-to-be are kept in dark, cramped conditions, akin to battery farms.

Last year, an estimated, 900,000 dog owners bought their dogs from puppy farms without realising.

Other star visitors included comedian Ricky Gervais, clothing designer Henry Holland, Joanna Page of Gavin and Stacey fame and Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, who was part of a celebrity panel of judges.

Pooches were judged in the categories of Prettiest Bitch, Campest Dog in London, Handsomest Dog and Coolest Dog.

No celebrity pets came out top dog but all the animals were made king of the hill for a day.

Ms Mathews, who was there with her 11-year-old daughter, Anais Gallagher, said: “It was an amazing day raising awareness for Pup Aid.

“I’m so delighted to be the patron and I was truly touched by the support from everyone – especially the pups on what was such a hot day!

“It was a great success and we hope to see everyone again next year!”

This year’s Pup Aid was the biggest competition yet as the event has moved from its south coast home, where it began three years ago, to north London, which is awash with celebrity dog lovers.

Ricky Gervais Inspired By Rockers Richard Ashcroft And Liam Gallagher

Funnyman Ricky Gervais has praised rockers Richard Ashcroft and Liam Gallagher for giving him inspiration for one of his films.

During a Q&A at the Soho Hotel in London for the DVD release of Cemetery Junction, directors Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant admitted Liam, 37, and Richard, 38, were the inspirations behind the comedy-drama.

Gervais, 49, found that actors fell into two categories, half that play society types and half that play violent wife-beating roles.

But the Extras star worked with Stephen to make their characters different and more like rock stars.

He said: 'We didn't want it to be one those really gritty 'isn't England a bit depressing and crap and normal' films.

'We wanted it to be a bit more glorious and evoke those possibly false memories of every day being sunny and brilliant and fun, that's how I remember my childhood.'

Ricky added: 'We cast about a thousand people to try and find these Jimmy Deans and John Travoltas - half of them will be Mr Darcy one day, and the other half will be going, 'You f****** slags.'

'So we had to look to our rock stars like Richard Ashcroft and Liam Gallagher, that's where we rule the world.'

Stephen added: 'This country's always been very good at making rock stars, and rock stars are unashamedly cool but somehow British films are less like that, it's like we're a little bit more embarrassed to be like that.

'We need to be self-conscious and make things seem gloomier and grittier but that wasn't my experience of growing up, everything seemed very cool to me.'
