Kasabian Wouldn't Ask Noel Gallagher To Join Them

Kasabian wouldn't ask Noel Gallagher to join their band because he would "dictate everything".

Former Oasis guitarist Noel recently said he would have loved to join the 'Days are Forgotten' band if they had asked, but singer Tom Meighan isn't sure his personality would fir with the rest of the group.

He said: "Nah, he'd dictate everything too much. Seriously, he would have been f***ing brilliant, but he has his own thing going on now."

Noel is now frontman of solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and currently touring the US. He recently admitted he is particularly fussy to tour with, especially when it comes to keeping things clean, saying a stray banana skin "would not last 10 f***ing seconds on my tour bus."

Tom's bandmate, Serge Pizzorno, added while he may not be a good member of Kasabian, they're still good friends with Noel.

He said: "We're good mates, so we could wheel him out no problem."

However, Tom plays down any comparisons between them and Oasis, saying they have the "same spirit," but are very different as bands.

He added to Shortlist magazine: "They were one offs. A phenomenon."

Behind the scenes footage of the FA Cup 3rd round draw featuring Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno who confirmed their status as 'supreme beings' by engineering fate and setting up their dream FA Cup tie on Sunday.

Manchester City fan Gallagher, of Oasis fame, and die-hard Leicester City supporter Pizzorno, the creative force behind Kasabian, were stunned when their fantasy fixture became a reality.

The creative pair were at Wembley to make the draw for the Third Round Proper and the song-writing duo could not have written a better version of events.

The Kasabian axe-man, who regularly performs in front of tens of thousands of fans, admitted that the co-incidence shredded his already jangling nerves.

Noel Gallagher: 'FA Cup Draw Was Nerve-Wracking'

Noel Gallagher has said that he was more nervous drawing the FA Cup third round balls yesterday (November 28) than he was playing live with Oasis.

The guitarist drew the balls with Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno, with both drawing out their own favoured teams, Manchester City and Leicester City respectively, to play against each other.

"What where the odds on that, its unbelievable!" Gallagher said. "I am blown away by that, when I turned the ball around I nearly dropped it. I was more nervous after that then when I walked out on stage here at Wembley. The odds were astronomical."

Pizzorno said: "I was really nervous before the draw. I kept having visions that I was going to drop the bag and have to chase all the balls around the floor!"

he added: "Once I made that draw I completely lost it, I don’t remember pulling the next 10 balls out, I didn’t know what was going on. It was psychedelic."

The Leicester City vs Manchester City FA Cup game will take place on January 8 or 9.

Stars Are Rocked In Cup Draw

Rock stars Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno did the FA Cup draw yesterday - and pulled out their own teams against each other.

Leicester City-supporting Kasabian guitarist Serge, 29, drew his club - and seconds later Oasis's Gallagher, 43, pulled out Manchester City.

They hugged each other and laughed, with Noel shouting: "That's outrageous."

There were 64 teams in the draw.

The net was quickly flooded with comments.

Rourkey76 posted: "HaHa noway! Serge from Kasabian & Noel from Oasis did the FA cup draw and pulled their own teams against each other! Surely a fix!"

Serge Pizzorno Thinks Noel Gallagher Is Mexican

Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno thinks Noel Gallagher is “Mexican” – because he loves tequila.

The rocker – who is close friends with the former Oasis guitarist – says every time he has a night out with the ‘Falling Down’ songwriter they end up drinking huge amounts of the strong South American shot.

Serge said: “I think Noel might be part Mexican the way he goes at tequila.”

Kasabian singer Tom Meighan agrees with his bandmate and insists 42-year-old Noel lives up to his hard partying reputation with ease.

He said: “Noel is very much a tequila man and moving from bar to bar – brilliant.”

Although both Tom enjoys a night out with Noel, he insists his brother Liam, 37, is as equally good company.

The ‘Fire’ singer added: “Liam can sit on the same stool with ten pints of Guinness but you only have to chat with him for an hour and you’ve travelled through the f***ing universe on a magic stairlift. Two very different propositions but both brilliant.”

Kasabian Star 'Understands Oasis Split'

Kasabian's Tom Meighan has admitted that he hardly speaks to his bandmate Serge Pizzorno when they are not on tour.

Tom told the News of the World that he can understand why Oasis split up last year.

He said: "We'll speak on the phone every now and then, but that's about it. I need time with the missus, you know?

"I can see why Liam and Noel fell out because if he was my brother, I'd probably kill Serge. I love the guy. We have arguments, but nothing bad. It's only through drunk rage that we scrap."

Tom Meighan: "Seeing Oasis At 17 Changed My Life"

Tom Meighan spoke about his love for Oasis and revealed how seeing the band for the first time "changed his life".

He told Dabbl.co.uk: "I went to see Oasis in Manchester when I was 17 with Serge, and that changed my life because it was right in the middle of when their big hit come out and Oasis were absolutely massive, you know, super-massive, and it just took my breath away.

"That changed my life, looking at them as rock stars, and I was just absolutely gobsmacked and blown away."

Serge Pizzorno Believes Rock And Roll Is Dying Out

Kasabian rocker Serge Pizzorno believes rock and roll is dying out and his band and the Arctic Monkeys are the only real rock bands left in the country.

The Kasabian rocker bemoaned the state of the British music industry, insisting his group and the Arctic Monkeys are the only "proper" rock bands left after the split of Oasis earlier this year.

He said: "We never actually said we were the biggest band in the UK but what we did say is that now, with Oasis splitting up, there aren't many proper rock n roll bands left. Can you name one?

"There are only us and the Arctic Monkeys. All the rest of them have released s**t albums or didn't care enough in the first place."

The 'Fire' hitmakers are currently on their biggest UK tour to date but Serge insists they aren't intimidated by the size of the crowds.

He added: "I'm not scared at all about playing arenas but it's a difficult thing - you've got to be careful. They're big buildings so you've got to put on a show but also keep the vibe going.

"I think it gives us more of a chance to do everything bigger - make it a real psychedelic trip. It will be a beautiful show."

Serge's No-asis

Kasabian axeman Serge Pizzorno has ruled out of ever stepping into 42-year-old pal Noel Gallagher’s shoes.

The Mercury Prize nominee, 28, told me: “I’m really sad as Oasis were a massive influence on us, and so many bands.

“I’m sure one day they’ll come back.

“I spoke to Noel briefly, but it was mental on the day the news came out.”

He added: “I could never replace him. Oasis should be left as a masterpiece.”

Kasabian Reject Oasis Tag

British band Kasabian have the local bomb squad's number on speed dial but the new kings of "lad rock" insist their hell-raising days are behind them.

Short-listed for the prestigious Mercury Prize after their third album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum recently topped the charts, the psychedelic rockers flatly reject comparisons to another globally successful all-male British band that also has its fair share of awards: Oasis.

"People say we're going to be the new Oasis, but we're not," Kasabian vocalist Tom Meighan said during a recent trip to Tokyo.

"There is no new Oasis. We can't be Oasis because they've done it. Oasis were giants in the 90s. It's nice when people say it but they're kind of missing the point."

Kasabian supported Oasis in a series of stadium shows in Britain over the summer before flying to Japan to perform at the "Summer Sonic" music festival, but Meighan said this was for the band's own good.

"We played in front of almost a million people in three weeks," said the 28-year-old. "The record was just out so it's the best promotion you can get. You do it, don't you?"

Meighan admitted Kasabian used to be "terrors" on tour and trouble has sought them out in unusual ways: guitarist Sergio Pizzorno found a live World War Two grenade in his garden.

But now Meighan believes the band has grown up, with the critically acclaimed West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum marking a turning point for the musicians who hail from Leicester, England.

Noel Gallagher And Serge Pizzorno Back England's World Cup Bid

Oasis and Kasabian stars Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno put support behind England`s bid to host 2018 World Cup

With their respective bands set to rock Wembley Stadium over the coming days, Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno showed their footballing colours by taking time out from rehearsals to back England`s bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

Serge once harboured aspirations of playing for his beloved Leicester City, and Noel`s passion for football and all things Manchester City is legendary so the pair were keen to register their support at www.england2018bid.co.uk and help in England`s campaign to host the world`s greatest football tournament.

Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher said:

‘Playing gigs in England, and in particular at Wembley, is always an amazing feeling with the fans that come to watch us creating an electric atmosphere. The buzz the nation would create if we were to host the World Cup in 2018 would be incredible – England lives and breathes football, from a professional level through to guys going out for a kick about with their mates and kids in the playground.’

‘I`m proud to be supporting the England 2018 campaign and would encourage the entire nation to get behind it as well.

Leicester City fan Serge Pizzorno said:

‘The entire band is delighted to get behind England 2018. Everyone in England loves football and the tournament would create a huge wave of passion throughout the country.’

‘We`re also really excited about Leicester bidding to become a Host City. The opportunity for England to host a World Cup is really amazing and the thought of games being played at the Walkers Stadium is incredible.’

Noel and Serge become the latest high profile names to join the official support campaign, which was launched by David Beckham earlier this month. It aims to secure two million signatories by the time the official bid is submitted to FIFA in December 2010. To back the bid, simply log on to www.england2018bid.co.uk.

Kasabian Want To Copy Oasis' Heaton Park Gigs

Leicester band reveal ambition after supporting Gallaghers

Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno has revealed he wants his band to one day play large hometown gigs in Leicester, after supporting Oasis at the three Manchester Heaton Park shows last week (June 4, 6 and 7).

Pizzorno and co played before the Manchester legends at all three of the shows, with the singer saying the experience had inspired the band to work towards playing similar headline shows of their own.

"It'd be amazing to do it in Leicester one day," he told BBC Newsbeat. "That city would never have seen anything like it."

Oasis had to abandon the Heaton Park stage at their first gig on Thursday due to a faulty generator.

They did, however, return to play a full set, then performed unhindered gigs on Saturday and Sunday.

Oasis Overtaken By Web

Oasis will be replaced by the internet, claim Kasabian.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno insists modern technology is preventing musicians from becoming popular because the public are saturated with too much information and choice.

Serge said: 'I don't think there's room for a band like Oasis anymore, you'll never get a phenomenon like that again. The internet dilutes everything. You can't just see a band on the TV once a week and then have to invest in buying the single.

'We used to go out and find a new song on a Monday morning, then you'd open the cover and read everything about it. That just doesn't exist anymore. It's a shame. If you never had it, you'll never miss it but when you've got the last of it you go, 'That was good, wasn't it?' '

Singer Tom Meighan believes people are transforming into humanoid robots that will need computers to help them reproduce.

He said: 'We're turning into cyborgs, can you imagine in another 20 years plugged into that f**king thing on the screen? Can you imagine another 50 years? No one will give a f**k anymore. People will make children on the internet. They'll pick the colour of their eyes. It's going to happen, I'm telling you.'

Sergio Pizzorno: "Noel Gallagher Has Inspired Me More Than Any Teacher Or Historical Figure"

Kasabian have had chart success with singles such as Club Foot, LSF, Processed Beats, Empire, Shoot The Runner and on June 1 they are releasing Fire, which is already getting huge airplay on BBC Radio 1.

“It is not your average pop single,” said Serge. It is different, a beautiful thing.”

For the guitarist it is inspiring the next generation that gives him the biggest buzz.

“If they watch the show and want to start a band that’s great. These talent shows are fair enough, but we come from a stable of incredible rock music and we need more of it,” he said The musician was inspired himself at 14 by Noel Gallagher from Oasis, and this summer Kasabian are touring with their rock heroes.

“When I was 14 Brit Pop was the centre of the world, and Noel was my music hero initially. He inspired me more than any teacher or historical figure.” Noel jumped up on stage with Kasabian and played three songs with them at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay street party in 2007.

“It will be a wicked line-up on the Oasis tour including us and The Enemy,” said Serge.

Kasabian: The Oasis Dates Are Going To Be Fucking Brilliant

Tom and Serge from Kasabian have told the Daily Star that the Oasis dates that start next week are going to be "fu**ing brilliant, there going to be great rock shows, really powerful," insisted Tom.

"We are going to play a really high energy set, promised Serge.

Checking out Oasis' old rivals Blur isn't on Kasabian's agenda, however.

"If I went to a Blur gig we would probably get sneered at," cringed Tom.

Kasabian's new single 'Fire' is out on June 1. The Album follows on the 8th.
