Pretty Green 'Sunglasses Launch' By Holler

Pretty Green, Liam Gallagher's fashion label, invited the first 50 people who bought sunglasses from the new range to take part in a photo shoot by Tom Oxley for an ad campaign by Holler.

The images were then used to create a film to be used to promote the range. In addition, a mini-documentary will be seeded online.

The work was created by Barry Markham and directed by Charlie Lightening through Lightening Productions.

Review: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds At Edinburgh Castle

Lit up in all its glory, complete with flaming torches, Edinburgh Castle makes for a spectacular backdrop for a concert.

Something Noel Gallagher is quick to note. “Nice gaff this innit?” he says, admiring the surroundings, before adding cheekily: “Mine’s twice the size.”

Unshackled from the restraints of what Oasis had become, the 45-year-old has blossomed into a much more engaging performer. Gone is the surly, taciturn nature that once typified his stage persona, replaced by a more relaxed, carefree attitude.

Playing his debut solo album almost in its entirety, the singer demonstrates that, freed from the lumbering rock behemoth that was his former group, he has still got an ear for a catchy, melodic rock tune, with The Death Of You And Me and AKA... What A Life particular stand-outs.

“I assume we’re all Oasis fans?” he then asks rhetorically, launching into a rip-roaring version of Whatever. With around a third of the set comprising Oasis tunes, including Little By Little and an acoustic Supersonic, he was always sure to have everyone in the sold-out arena onside.

There was, of course, a final dilemma. Out of all the other massive hits, which should be the closer? Simple. The one that he got to sing. “I think you might know the words to the chorus,” he says, playing the opening riff to Don’t Look Back In Anger. Yes, Noel. You know fine well we do.

Noel Gallagher Says He's More Like Bill Wyman Than Mick Jagger

Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anais could well be influencing what her old man listens to.

The former Oasis star has been referencing Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger.

Noel’s admitted that he can’t dance like Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick but has moves more like Jagger’s former bandmate Bill Wyman.

Talking about his live shows before last night’s gig at Edinburgh Castle, the High Flying Birds singer said: “As the song goes, I haven’t got moves like Jagger – I’ve more got moves like Wyman.

“But people at gigs either want to dance or sing, and I can make people do that.

“And they’re not watching me anyway, because if you look, they’re staring at the heavens singing their hearts out, and that’s magical.”

Asked if he will carry on in music as long as the Rolling Stones, Noel added: “Evidently the Rolling Stones are not a gang any more.

“It’s easier for a solo artist, so I don’t see a time when I’ll retire. I never see a time when I’ll pack in, especially if I’m still writing.

“What else am I going to do? There’s only so much TV you can watch.”

Jake Bugg Talks About The Simpsons, His Album, Oasis And More

Jake Bugg took the time to answer some questions ahead of the support dates he is doing with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds over the next few months.

The eighteen year old singer songwriter from Nottingham, England started playing guitar at the age of twelve and last year appeared at the Glastonbury Festival on the BBC Introducing stage.

He has just released an EP called 'Taste It', and his debut album goes on sale on October 15th.

He spoke to us about how an episode of The Simpsons got him into music, his debut album, Oasis and more.

Hi Jake. Thanks for taking time to answer some questions, hows things?

All good ta.

How did you first get into playing and writing your own music?

Well I had no interest in music until I was about twelve and I was watching an episode of The Simpsons and Don Mclean's song 'Vincent' came on and I just wanted to write songs from then really but didn't end up doing so till I was about fourteen.

For those unfamiliar with your music how would you describe it?

I like to think of it as a sort of root music with a contemporary twist.

When are you going to release your debut album?

It will be released on October 15th.

Will the singles that have been released to date feature on the album? Or will it be entirely new material?

Yes they will feature on the album aswell as some old and new material.

What is your favourite track of the album and why?

I don't really have a favourite to be honest.

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with in the future?

I'm always up for trying things, I guess I will just see what comes along.

Are you looking forward to the shows you are playing in Belfast, London and North America with Noel Gallagher?

Yeah definitely.

How did the support for the Noel Gallagher gigs come about?

I think I may of met a few people this year who have passed my music about.

You have said in previous interviews Oasis are a big influence on your music, when did you first get into their music?

I think I was about fifteen or something.

Did you ever get to see them live?

No unfortunately, would of loved to though.

What are your favourite Oasis tracks and why?

Ermm.....
Supersonic - Great riff.
Rocking' Chair - Just sounds great.
Listen Up - Not many of my mates know it but it's one my favourites.
Stop Crying Your Heart Out - Great tune.

What is you're favourite track from the Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds album and why?

If I Had A Gun... At the moment.

Finally what are you're plans for the rest of the year?

Well theres a lot of festivals such as Reading and Leeds, Bestival and Secret Garden Party then the album in October then followed by a UK tour in November.

You can get a free download of Jake's track Saffron below.

Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Seventy

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

OK comrades. I don't have much time. Long time? Just can't seem to keep up during festival season. Too much going on. Here goes anyway . . .

So let's go back to what seems a lifetime ago now to the south of France. Can't remember the actual town/city I was in but it was beautiful. Blistering sunshine. Might have actually got a little bit sunburned!! Always a good look eh?

So the gig was going really, really, well, it was actually shaping up to be one of the greatest when right at the end of the 4th song . . . DREAM ON I believe . . . BANG the power went!! Stage in full darkness . . . total silence!! It took 20 minutes to get things up and running again and by that time the moment had passed so to speak. Shame, it really was gonna be a good 'un. Still the mighty Franz Ferdinand were on next (yes you cheeky fuckers they ACTUALLY ARE still going!). So I'm sure they brought proceedings to an adequate close.

Next up was Berne in Switzerland. Truly stunning city. I kid you not it has a river running through it and the water is BLUE...ACTUALLY FUCKING BLUE!!!!!!!!?????? Unbelievable. Bought a lovely pair of shoes too. The festival is a good 'un. Done it many times. Up the top of a mountain. I was on first though . . . FIRST!!!! The actual first person onstage was me!!! Last time I played there I HEADLINED it!! Fame is a cruel mistress comrades. It was like playing at breakfast. Bizarre. We did great though. Enjoyed it.

So, after that I think we drove back to France, to Lyon to be exact. I remember on the drive there we watched that film PULP FICTION. My other guitarist - who's name escapes me now - had never seen it . . . NEVER SEEN PULP FICTION??????? Like..fuck me!!! Unbelievable.

Lyon was great. Pissed down the minute we got there. It was warm rain though. The wind got blowing in such a way that by the time we took the stage it was raining onstage . . . raining onstage? Another first. The gig was a blinder though. Really, really good.

So . . . then . . . on to Benicassim. If you've never been to Beni' then you really should try and get there. If only for the weather. Beautiful. It was my 100th show as a solo artist thing and I have to say it was definitely the best gig of the tour no question, but I tell you this, it might well have been one of the best shows I've ever done, EVER. It was that good. If you are reading this and you happened to be in that crowd I thank you. You were immense. Truly special. You made it a great, great night. IZ'FUCKIN RIGHT!!!

I was on before the Stone Roses again. They also smashed it. Crushed it even. We partied hard. Seen the sun rise. A magical, magical night.

You currently find me in Edinburgh. Playing at the castle tonight. Then 8 days off!!!

I'm looking forward to some of that.

ONWARDS.

GD.

Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown And Dizzee Rascal Have An All-Night Rock’N’Roll Tear-Up

Noel Gallagher celebrated his 100th solo gig in classic fashion — with an all-night rock’n’roll tear-up.

The High Flying Bird was joined by two Stone Roses, a Buzzcock and Dizzee Rascal to mark the occasion backstage at Benicassim.

But Dizzee kept putting his foot in it all night, by calling the former Oasis star “Liam” by mistake.

A source backstage said: “Noel was on top form — it was his first chance to have a night out with the Roses.

“Ian Brown was doing magic tricks for the lads, including bandmate Mani.

“Noel was going to knock Dizzee’s baseball cap off to make his point.

“It was quite a collection of hardened drinkers — Buzzcocks’ Steve Diggle is a punk legend.”

Noel partied until 8.30am — then had to catch a flight to London as he plays a huge Edinburgh Castle gig tomorrow.

The Stone Roses dedicated I Am The Resurrection to their “friend Noel Gallagher” during their brilliant headline slot at the huge Spanish festival.

Noel had played the best gig of his tour to a sunburnt, hammered crowd.

Earlier he poked fun at bassist Mani for being knocked back in his hotel at breakfast for wearing sandals. Speaking on my Xfm show, he said: “No wonder — he’s got feet like Wurzel Gummidge.”

Noel was braced to step in for headliners The Roses who nearly missed it after their private jet broke down in Portugal.

Noel added: “The elastic band on the propeller for their jet has gone. I told Mani he only needs to ask if he wants to borrow my Learjet.”

He said he’s seen Bono and is up for playing during U2’s next world tour.

And he announced he’ll play an exclusive and rare acoustic gig with Xfm and WarChild at Dingwalls in London on August 14.

You won’t see Noel in a venue that size very often again — for tickets see noelgallagher.com or Xfm.co.uk.

Dizzee, Steve and The Roses are welcome to come along for round two.
