Noel Gallagher Talks To Talk Sport

Noel Gallagher made his weekly appearance on Andy Goldstein’s Sports Bar last night (25 April) and spoke about the following:

Andy Goldstein: On last week’s show I said, ‘What have you got that’s exciting?’, and you said, ‘Something, but I can’t remember’...

Noel: “Yeah, I went to go and buy a suit. I didn’t get one cos I went... you.. obviously no one else knows this, but you said, ‘Oh Id go and see a guy’ blah blah, which is not really the best recommendation I’ve ever had in my life is the fashion which is Andy Goldstein, ‘Go and see my guy’- whatever, and he said to me, ‘It’s a guy called Terence Trout’, right, now that’s not a real name, I said to him, I’m not having that, there’s nobody born with a name Terence Trout, anyway, I went to Trouty’s gaff, right, and unfortunately the minute I walked in I got a phone call, me alarm was going off on me handset and I had to leg it, so I’ve not been back, so I didn’t get the suit.”

“Dr Octogon” theme tune:

Andy Goldstein: I got a letter which says,’Hi Andy and Jason, and greetings, Dr Octogon, shame the Dr Octogon jingle was deemed below par, so I’ve composed one myself.’ I’ve not heard this....
Noel: “Is this from Our Kid? It’s not from our Liam?”

(Play new Dr Octogon jingle)

Noel: “This guy obviously doesn’t understand the fundamental laws of jingles – they’re supposed to be short and sweet. That sounded like the drums of Burundi.... That’s rubbish.”

Andy Goldstein: He’s sent in a CD cover with your face on the front as Dr Octogon (link here: http://twitpic.com/1igyfd) I’ll send it to you, I’ll keep it... it’s unbelievable!

Noel: “Do me a favour – do not put it on your website!”

Andy Goldstein: Too late, it’s on Twitter already! The picture’s like you have just been told what’s on the TV.

Noel: “I tell you what – every time I’m stopped in the street by people, you know like autograph hunters that carry pictures?, every single picture that I sign of myself I look absolutely miserable.” “I can’t stand having me picture taken, it really, really nauses me up, I hate it.”

Man City

Noel: “I thought it all kinda went to plan yesterday, I thought Tottenham would get beat and I hoped we’d get a draw, but em, it’s all, if we win the next three games, it’s ours, but the big game is the Tottenham game, innit?, you know, but saying that, you’ve got to get past Villa, they’re still in it.” “I think next weekend decides everything – the Championship and 4th place, I think if we beat Tottenham we’ll do it because West Ham now haven’t got anything to play for, they’ll just be up for a kick about with Tevez.” “We don’t play Spurs til the Wednesday, we’ve got three games in that week, we play Villa Saturday, then Spurs on the Wednesday and then West Ham on the Sunday, it’s tough, plus we’ve got the Faroe Islands reserve goalkeeper!” “To be honest, the only positive I can take out of it is that he was a Mark Hughes signing, and Mark Hughes has signed some pretty good players for us. I thought he was just some... well, I don’t know where I thought they got him from, but apparently Mark Hughes kinda spotted him.” (Were you surprised, with all the money they have that goalkeeper wasn’t one of the areas they covered?) “Well, the lad Taylor we got from Villa has had his cartilage taken out, so it’s all been about the last couple of weeks, hasn’t it? But, you know, to be honest if I was City I’d be on the phone to Birmingham and saying, ‘Look, if he doesn’t come back in the next 48 hours, you’re not getting him next season.’” (I don’t think you can do that.) “We can do anything!! We’re owned by the Sheikh!! He owns the world, right, so we can do anything!”

Title Race

Noel: “Well, Liverpool have got the big game on Thursday, haven’t they?, so hopefully that’ll go to extra time and they’ll all be resting players, I can’t see Chelsea... if Chelsea would have just scraped it today, maybe the confidence would have been gone, but I think... what was it?,5-0?, I switched it off after 3-0.... What? 7-0? Well, it’s in the bag, really, innit?” (I don’t think Liverpool will want to win the game) “Regardless of that, Liverpool are not good enough to beat Chelsea... Liverpool are not good enough to draw against Chelsea, not when they are going for the double, I just don’t see it happening. I had a mate of mine, right, he’s a Liverpool fan and he’s texting me like, today, that they beat Burnley, and he’s like, ‘We’re still in it!”, and it’s like, look, even if City slip up, you’ve still got to beat Tottenham, right, you’ve still got to get more points than Tottenham, City and Tottenham aren’t going to slip up, and then you’ve still got to pass Villa – it’s not gonna happen! It’s not gonna happen, I mean the best they can hope for is winning the Uefa Cup, innit? I’d say if they won the Uefa Cup, that would be a great season for them, considering what’s happened.”

His trip to the Emirates on Saturday:

Noel: “I went to the Emirates on Saturday, and I ended up getting tickets for the directors box, I tell you, just let me list the people who were sat on my row... Fabio Capello, I didn’t speak to him, he looks a bit moody, do you know what I mean?, there was him, Stuart Pearce, Sven and his new bird – she’s not as nice as Nancy, but who is?, she’s alright, though, Terry Neill, Liam Brady, obviously all our Chief Executives and all that mob, and, this is the curve ball – Floella Benjamin! She’s Sven’s new bird! I was like, hang on a minute, England manager, Stuart Pearce – legend, yeah, all that, then, oh!, hello...” (Was she laughing by any chance?) “No, she was asleep like the rest of us. It was terrible, terrible, the best part of the game was when Adebayor came on, at least everyone livened up.”

Andy Goldstein: Are you going out to South Africa for the World Cup?

Noel: “I’m going.... well, I’ll tell you a story, I was gonna go but my missus is pregnant, right?, which is a bit of a bungle, really, cos we should’ve waited until after the World Cup, you know what I mean?, so I was planning on going, not for the month but anyway, I said, ‘Look, if they get to the semis... you know, I’m gonna go.’, and she started laughing, she’s like, ‘Semi finals? haha Yeah, whatever! Yeah, you can go!” So if they get there I’m gonna go for the last kinda few days, but I’m not really planning on it, to be honest. To be quite honest, getting around that country’s going to be really, really difficult, I don’t think they’ve got the infrastructure to deal with it.”

Plans for this week:

Noel: “I’ve got a wedding on Saturday, I’m going to be going, minus new suit. Then I’m getting my haircut, hopefully tomorrow.... eh, and then.... eh, I think that’s about, yeah, that’s it. You know what, last Sunday when I put the phone down and I thought, ‘Right, I’m gonna keep a diary of what I’ve done this week.’, and I kinda, I feel like I’m letting people down, I think like I should be telling people I walk around in a cape and a top hat, you know, but I kinda... I don’t do a great deal, I feel like I let people down when I’m in the queue at Waitrose, you know, buying stir-frys and stuff, you know what I mean?” (It’s not very rock n roll!) “No, it’s wok n roll!”

Noel Gallagher: I Was Italy's Lucky Mascot At World Cup 2006

Former Oasis man also reveals 'secret' about New Order's 'World In Motion'

Noel Gallagher has claimed he was a lucky mascot for Italy during their successful FIFA World Cup campaign in 2006.

Discussing his memories of the tournament on BBC's Football Focus programme, the former Oasis man revealed Azzurri player Alessandro Del Piero - a friend of Gallagher - believed he was a lucky charm for the side at the tournament.

The superstition started when Del Piero scored the winner for Italy in the semi-final of the tournament against Germany and ran towards Gallagher to celebrate.

"I was sat beside his wife. His wife reckons he was coming over to blow kisses at her, but what's actually happened is he's seen me and his wife happened to be there," Gallagher joked.

"He then gets it in his head that I'm his lucky mascot, so he said: 'You'll have to come to the final'. He made me wear the same clothes," he added.

Gallagher also claimed that New Order's 'World In Motion' - released to coincide with the 1990 World Cup - wasn't originally supposed to be a football song.

"They didn't write it specifically for that, I know for a fact it was just a song they had lying round and added a few words to," he said.

"I don't care what anybody says, the New Order song isn't really a World Cup song."

The full interview with Gallagher can be viewed on the BBC Sport website.

Paul Weller On The Oasis Split

Paul Weller once again discussed the Oasis split during a interview with The Independent, claiming Noel and Liam Gallagher were "going through the motions" before the band ended last year.

"I don't want to talk out of turn because I love Noel and Liam," he said. "You can see when someone's not happy. But I guess when you get to that sort of level and there's big business involved, it's harder to stop. I think ultimately it'll be better for music and for their own creativity."

On This Day In Oasis History...

"Some Might Say" is a song by British rock band Oasis and was released on the 24th April 1995.

The song was written by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was the first single to be released from their definitive second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory ? in 1995, and provided the band with their first #1 in the UK Singles Chart.

The track was apparently inspired by the Small Faces and/or T-Rex. It was the last Oasis track to feature original drummer Tony McCarroll, who was asked to leave the band before the main recording sessions for (What's the Story) Morning Glory ? when tensions arose between McCarroll and the Gallagher brothers. The rest of the tracks on the album feature Alan White on drums.

The sleeve artwork, shot at Cromford railway station in Derbyshire, England, features art director Brian Cannon's father with wheelbarrow and his mother with mop. Also pictured are Matthew Sankey, Cannon's aide and Carla Knox, barmaid of his local pub. Liam Gallagher can be seen on the bridge whilst Noel can be viewed with a watering can. Cannon himself rates this piece amongst his greatest works.

The planned promo video for the song was canceled due to Liam not turning up for the shoot. Instead, a makeshift video was created using footage from the "Cigarettes & Alcohol" and US "Supersonic" videos.

B-sides
Aside from the title song, the single boasts some of Oasis' finest B-sides, all of which were deemed worthy to grace the critically acclaimed Masterplan album. "Talk Tonight", is one of many acoustic B-side tracks sung by Noel, and was, at the time, the most vulnerable song he had attempted. It was inspired by the near-breakup of the band in Los Angeles in autumn 1994, when Noel walked out without telling anyone and headed for San Francisco.

The B-side "Acquiesce" was released as part of the Stop the Clocks EP in promotion their compilation album, Stop the Clocks.

In an interview promoting the compilation album, Stop the Clocks, Noel stated that "Some Might Say" is the "archetypical Oasis song' and 'defines what Oasis is". Noel added later in the interview that along with "Some Might Say", its b-side, "Acquiesce", was also the song that defined Oasis.

The song also appears on Stop the Clocks, as do two of the b-sides. Suprisingly, this means that the "Some Might Say" single contains the fourth largest number of tracks to appear on Stop the Clocks of any Oasis release (after Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory and The Masterplan). Therefore, more songs from this single ended up on Stop the Clocks than Don't Believe the Truth (2 songs), Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, Heathen Chemistry (1 song each) and Be Here Now (no songs from this album appear on Stop the Clocks).

"Some Might Say" is a playable track in both Guitar Hero World Tour and The European version of Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades.

18 Years Of Oasis Documentary Needs Your Stories

For an up and coming documentary celebrating 18 years of Oasis, we want to hear your stories of the moments that defined your experience as a fan…

Whether it was that faithful night at Knebworth where you met your wife to the sound of Definitely Maybe, or how you were one of the first to see the potential behind the phenomenon after listening to Supersonic at an early gig that changed your life. We want to know how the key moments in your life were played out to a soundtrack of Oasis songs that have resonated in your head ever since…

We’re hoping to tell the 18 years story of Oasis from the fans perspective, so we’d like to hear your stories from any point in Oasis’ career so far upto and including the present day. Each story will ideally relate to your experience of a certain song and how it came to mean something significant for your own very personal reason. Stories can be big and small, happy or sad, emotional, inspiring, incredible or hilarious… but above all personal and referring to an experience that’s unique to you. Ideally we’re looking for stories we can get our teeth into: locations we can revisit; the story of an obsession that has persisted to this day; of how your family has come to be defined by Oasis… Stories we can explore in more than simply one line of dialogue…

A number of successful stories will be invited to take part in the film, which might for example involve revisiting Knebworth, or traveling back to relive the holiday of a lifetime that you’ll forever associate with Champagne Supernova…

Anyone interested should contact Pulse Films – sending through contact details and a summary of your story to oasis@pulsefilms.co.uk

Russell Brand: 'I Didn't Cause Oasis Split'

He rubbishes Liam Gallagher's claim...

Russell Brand has denied he was responsible for the break-up of Oasis.

Earlier this month, singer Liam Gallagher appeared to suggest his brother Noel’s friendship with Brand was behind the split last year.

He also compared Noel and the comedian to Neil and Christine Hamilton.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Brand said he had spoken to Noel about Liam’s comments, and that the only people to blame for the band’s break-up were the band themselves.

“Yeah, that was a bit odd,” Brand said. “I spoke to Noel about that.

“Look it's not like you're in a band for years and then you start hanging out with Russell Brand and it's over – as if the two things are mutually exclusive.

“The only people responsible for the breakup of Oasis are in Oasis.”

Brand added: “I don't want to be the Oasis Yoko Ono without even getting to have sex with John Lennon!”

The comedian’s comments came in the same interview in which he claimed that exposing young musicians to hard drugs would help strengthen the music industry.

Didn't Paul And Noel Do Weller

Rock's bigwigs joined forces for the smallest gig either of them have played in years.

Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher tore up this tiny London club - with a capacity of just 600 - to launch the latest offering from the Modfather.

Weller debuted a string of thumping new tracks from his Wake Up The Nation - on course for No1 on Sunday - on Wednesday night.

Then Oasis axe man Noel pitched up and the pair performed the Gallagher-penned Mucky Fingers as well as Weller's own Echoes Round The Sun.

Gripping renditions of classics including Wild Wood and a final triumphant airing of vintage JAM hit Start concluded a special night.

And I wasn't the only one who enjoyed listening to the rock Lords.

Comic Alan Davies even queued up at the North London venue's stage door to get the great Weller's signature after the show.

If you want to experience a man on top of his game look out for Virgin Media's Music On Demand service in June, when the gig will be broadcast

Rihanna performed in Zurich Monday night for her Last Girl On Earth tour, and much is being made of the fact that she was rushed to the hospital directly after due to a minor rib injury (she’s okay, and has since been carrying on with her tour).

One thing that has been overlooked is that earlier in the night recently dethroned chart queen RiRi decided to channel the Gallagher brothers by covering Oasis’ “Wonderwall” during her Swiss set. Catch Rihanna leading the audience in a sing-along to the classic tune after the jump.

Is This Really Liam Gallagher’s New Band?

Oasis fans have been waiting patiently for news of the Gallagher brothers’ future plans. But it looks like there’ll be a few fights before their respective solo careers get off the ground.

Sky Songs has heard that Liam Gallagher’s new, as yet unnamed, band will feature his old Oasis mates Gem Archer and Andy Bell.

Noel Gallagher is also said to be putting a new band together, featuring… er, Gem Archer and Andy Bell. Oh dear.

In addition, Liam’s band will include former Robbie Williams drummer Chris Sharrock, while Noel is said to have recruited Jay Darlington, former keyboard player with Kula Shaker.

Andy Bell’s going to be a busy lad since he’s also been recording demos for a new album by none other than Adam Ant. You heard it here first.

Noel Gallagher Joins Paul Weller At London Gig

Noel Gallagher was the surprise special guest at Paul Weller's show at the London Relentless Garage on Wednesday, April 21.

NME.com reports that Gallagher joined the ex-Jam mainman for a version of Oasis' album track, 'Mucky Fingers,' from 2005's 'Don't Believe the Truth,' and Weller's 2008 single, 'Echoes Round the Sun'.

The gig was to mark the April 19 release of Weller's new album, 'Wake Up the Nation.' Meanwhile, Gallagher has been talking about the rough and tumble nature of his long-standing relationship with "The Modfather" -- saying he's a "nightmare" to go out on the town with.

In an interview with radio station Talk Sport, the former Oasis mainman said, "I guess Weller's my oldest friend, I suppose, and I don't mean the fact that he's, like, 50. There's an unwritten law that I never go out with him, he's a nightmare.

"He's hardcore -- if you go out with him, if you come home at all, there's bumps and bruises. There's been scuffles in the street and you've probably fallen out with him."

As Spinner reported on April 21, the man who attacked the Gallagher rocker at the Virgin Festival in Toronto in 2008, leaving him with three broken ribs, has avoided jail.

Danny Sullivan, 48, was sentenced to 12 months of house arrest after he pleaded guilty to assault, causing bodily harm.

Gallagher Attacker Sentenced To House Arrest!

An intoxicated renovator who attacked Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher on a Toronto concert stage was sentenced Wednesday to 12 months house arrest.

Daniel Sullivan of Pickering eluded security, ran on stage and pushed Gallagher from behind during the Virgin Music Festival in September 2008.

Gallagher broke three ribs when he fell against a speaker and Oasis was forced to cancel concerts in Paris and New York.

“Severe intoxication is the only plausible explanation for behaviour that makes no other sense,” Justice Richard Schneider said.

“It is clear we will have no conclusive answer as to what precipitated this event.”

Schneider also ordered Sullivan to abstain from alcohol for 12 months.

In November, Sullivan, 48, pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm.

Sullivan’s lawyer, John Collins, characterized his client as “the quintessential first offender,” a man of otherwise good character, who has accepted full responsibility for his actions, is ashamed of what he has done, and is profoundly sorry for his actions.”

A pre-sentence report depicted Sullivan’s background as “unremarkable.” It said he “doesn’t have a history of difficulties with alcohol, drugs, violence or any mental health issues.”

Sullivan, who has been married for 20 years and has three young children, always has been gainfully employed and participates in a small theatre group and with his son’s soccer team, court heard.

Sullivan apologized Wednesday to Gallagher and the court. He declined to comment afterward, saying he is being sued, along with the concert promoters and a private security company, for $2.1 million by Gallagher. A claim has been issued in Ontario.

The judge permitted Sullivan to go to work, attend medical appointments and shop once a week. But the judge rejected Sullivan’s request to attend his theatre group and his son’s soccer games.

Gallagher said in a victim impact statement that it felt like he’d been “hit by a bus,” needed months of rehabilitation and is still in pain.

Crown attorney Ruth Kleinhenz sought up to nine months in jail, saying Sullivan’s crime is “too serious for a conditional sentence to be considered.”

“Mere intoxication cannot explain the event and that perhaps it was driven by a need for ‘15 minutes of fame.’ This deliberate act should be seen as more serious than one derived from mere drunkenness,” said Schneider in summing up the Crown’s view.

No Jail For Noel Gallagher's Attacker

The man who attacked Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher as he performed on a Toronto stage received a conditional sentence of 12 months Wednesday, meaning no jail time.

He’ll serve his sentence in the community under house arrest.

Daniel Sullivan, 48, of Pickering, Ont. had pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm.

The father of three said he was so drunk he couldn’t remember how he got backstage at the Virgin Music Festival in September 2008 and pushed Gallagher from behind.

Sullivan was then tackled by security guards as he approached Gallagher’s younger brother, singer Liam.

Gallagher suffered three broken ribs and the band was forced to cancel several concerts.

“I just want to express my sincere apology to the victim,” Sullivan told the court.

The Crown was seeking a sentence of six to eight months in jail. Defence had asked for the conditional sentence.

Man Who Shoved Oasis' Gallagher To Be Sentenced In Toronto Courtroom Today

The man who shoved Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher so hard that the rocker said he felt like he "had been hit by a bus" is to be sentenced Wednesday in a Toronto court.

Daniel Sullivan ran on stage and pushed Gallagher from behind into his speakers during a music festival in September 2008. Gallagher said in a victim impact statement that he has undergone months of rehabilitation and doses of pain killers, but still suffers from pain.

Gallagher suffered three broken ribs and the band was forced to cancel concerts in Paris and New York.

Sullivan, a 48-year-old Pickering, Ont., contractor, pleaded guilty to causing bodily harm.

He admitted he was drunk and couldn't remember how he got backstage at the Virgin Music Festival.

His lawyer said the combination of daily stress, alcohol and keeping a business afloat during a recession led to the attack.

In videos taken by fans that went viral on YouTube, Sullivan is seen storming the stage and pushing Gallagher into his floor monitors while the band performed their 1995 hit (What's the Story) Morning Glory."

A flailing Sullivan is then tackled by security guards as he approaches Gallagher's younger brother, singer Liam.

The Crown is seeking a sentence of six to eight months in jail - suggesting that Sullivan, an amateur actor, had perhaps been seeking his 15 minutes of fame.

Gallagher has also launched a $2-million civil lawsuit against Sullivan.

In addition to a string of hits in the '90s the band is also known for the bickering between the Gallagher brothers. The remaining members disbanded earlier this year after Noel left the band last August after an altercation with Liam.

Adam Ant Collaborating With 'Member Of Oasis' On New Album?

Plus Ant tells NME.COM he wants to release a Malcolm McLaren tribute single.

Adam Ant has confirmed to NME.COM that he is working on his first album in 15 years, and that an ex-Oasis member reportedly plays on it.

The album, which will be named 'Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying The Gunner's Daughter', also features collaborations with former 3 Colours Red guitarist Chris McCormack and Ant's long-time songwriting partner Marco Pirroni.

He said that "one of the songs features a member of Oasis". Morrissey's writing partner Boz Boorer is also understood to have contributed to the album.

According to Ant, the album is a "live record that lends itself to performance" and will feature a "kind of concept. It's a very old fashioned, old school, step-by-step album".

In addition, Ant has recorded a song in tribute to the late Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, who died earlier this month, and who also once managed Adam & The Ants.

Named 'Who's A Goofy Bunny Then?', the track was only previously available as a demo recorded in the early '80s, but Ant says he wants to release a new version in tribute to the late punk manager.

And the chart - compiled to mark 40 billion plays on the streaming service - makes good reading for British bands who make up six of the top ten.

It launched in 2003.

Muse was the top UK act at number two, with Oasis, Coldplay and Radiohead also in the upper reaches of the list.

Last.fm recommends similar music choices to users each time they "scrobble" or play a song.

Users scrobble up to 800 songs per second when use of the service is at its peak.

Lady GaGa is the only woman to feature in the top 20 with Poker Face at number six with just over 6 million plays. It is also the most recent song, released only last year.

Mr Brightside was played 7.66 million times.

Noel Gallagher Talks To TalkSport

Noel was on Andy Goldstein’s Sport Bar on Talk Sport last night (Sunday 18 April) and spoke about the following:

His circle of friends: “I actually bumped into Mike Pickering today in the park (Regents Park), I socialise with him and some other people from bands when they’re in town, but not really... Weller, maybe... but I’ve not got a massive circle of, I like to keep myself to myself.” “I’ve got lots of mates but they’re kinda in bands so they’re never really in the same place at the same time, if I’m not on tour, my mates in Kasabian will be off on tour, or Weller will be doing summat so it’s very rare we’re all together at the same time.” “My best mate is, he’s not famous, he’s just kinda, he’s just my mate, his name’s Strageboy. He used to play keyboards in Oasis in ’97 and he was just like a mate of a mate but he came on tour with us to play keyboards and we were at an airport lounge one afternoon and I was just looking at him, going, ‘he’s just really weird’, you know, and the name Strangeboy stuck and I guess he’s my best mate, but I’ve got another best mate who lives up in Manchester, but I guess my best mate in London would be... I guess Weller’s my oldest friend, I suppose, and I don’t mean the fact that he’s like 50, I mean the fact that I’ve known him for a long time, I’ve known him for about 12 years.” “There’s an unwritten law that I never go out with Paul Weller, he’s a nightmare. He’s hardcore – if you go out with him, if you come home at all there’s bumps and bruises, there’s been scuffles in the street and you’ve probably fallen out with him.”

Man City’s loss to Man U: “I haven’t got any complaints, United wanted it more, I just thought City were really flat and very Italian. I thought we got what we deserved, which was nothing, it seemed like Mancini had settled for a draw on the hour, you know what I mean, and United kept coming, coming and coming and to be quite honest, although I did swear at the television and nearly threw it out the window when he scored, you could kinda see it coming, you know what I mean?, they wanted it more. I felt pretty let down by the end of it, but no complaints on the score.” “We got away with it in the first half, but the way Mancini played it in the previous two derbies, he never went for it in the first half, anyway, but I cannot believe that he never got his head around putting somebody on Scholes in the second half and I had a real problem with him taking, not so much taking off Johnson, but if he had taken off Johnson and put on Wright-Phillips, when Wright-Phillips came on he had Evra booked within five minutes, so it would have put him under pressure, but he puts on Viera, it’s like, you know, come on, I mean we’re supposed to be going for the Champions League here, it’s like we’re not gonna get it by drawing games, you know.” “When Tevez was going on about the players being tired in the week I was thinking, ‘Oh come on! You’re only kicking a football around twice a day’, but they did, de Jong and Barry have started virtually every single game for the last six months, and Tevez has played for Man United, obviously he’s a professional, he knows what he’s on about and he’s been there in the Champions League and he’s won the Premiership so he knows what it takes, I thought they looked a bit tired, I thought there was no zip to the game, I thought there was no, I thought there was no drive going forward, but you don’t know whether they’re told that by the manager, to keep their energy and stuff, but they did look tired, I’ve got to say.”

Man City’s chances of finishing 4th: “In a way, United winning has given them something to play for, if we had put United out of the title race yesterday they’d have had nothing to play for at Old Trafford, so hopefully they’ll do Tottenham. If we can get something, anything at the Emirates then it’ll stand us in good stead but I still think it’ll go down to the last game.”

His opinion on Mancini: “He’s not the guy who is gonna, em, as long as Hiddink and Mourinho are out there then they’re the two guys that everybody’s gonna be talking about. I’m afraid, you know, if you want a nil-nil draw away on the last day of the season, then he’s probably your man, but you’ve got to go out and win games in the Premier League, it’s as simple as that, you know, you’re not gonna get anything for nothing in our league, it’s not like Italy. I think he’s history at the end of the season, anyway, I think he’s gone at the end of the season, you don’t give someone a six month contract, do you, you know what I mean? If he’s your man, you give him a five year contract and that’s the end of it, you don’t give someone a six month contract and then a three year one on top of that, IF you get in the Champions League.” “I think for City to attract the top top players, like Kaka and all that, you know, they’ve got.. players wanna play for the big, glamorous managers, that’s my opinion, anyway, and I’m not sure whether, I’m not sure whether Mancini, well, tactically he doesn’t seem to have it for me, but I think until they get somebody like Mourinho or Hiddink, that can inspire the players then, you know, I think they’ll always be looking. But you wouldn’t hear any players coming out and criticising Mourinho’s methods, would you?, cos they’re in awe of him, right, for Tevez to come out and say that in the week leading up to the derby there’s got to be something going on, and there’s been rumours that Bellamy’s had a pop at him and all that kinda of thing, so, you know, there must be something not right. He seems like a nice enough guy and all that, and obviously he’s kinda done the business in Italy but this isn’t Italy, you know, there are no easy games in our league.”

His plans for the week: “I’m gonna get me hair cut this week and.. hang on a minute, I’ve got something to do this week... I’ve got something important to do this week.... dono... I can’t remember what I’m doing, I’m getting old, I haven’t got a clue what I’m doing...”

Jay-Z Sings Oasis' Wonderwall At Coachella Festival

Jay reprised his cover of 'Wonderwall' at Coachella Festival on Friday night.

Much of the 90-minute set featured guitars with samples and backing tracks from The Doors, The Prodigy and even U2 being added in at various junctures.

In an echo of last year's Glastonbury performance, he also used a breakbeat-augmented snippet of Oasis' 'Wonderwall'.

Towards the end of the show, Jay-Z devoted a segment of the set to cover early parts of his career which culminated in a mass sing-a-long of 'Hard Knock Life'.

He then invited Beyonce on stage to duet with him on the finale of 'Young Forever' as fireworks lit up the desert sky behind them.

Noel Gallagher To Use Choir On Solo Record

Noel Gallagher wants to use a choir on his forthcoming solo LP. The former "Oasis" guitarist, who quit the band August 2009 following a series of explosive rows with his brother, frontman Liam Gallagher, wants the Crouch End Festival Chorus to appear on the record after performing with them at London's Royal Albert Hall last month.

"I was speaking to Noel's manager about this and I was saying to him," David Temple, the choir's conductor, said. "We'll get the very best out of the choir if we get any recording. It'd be in a studio, we'd love it."

While Noel has said little about his solo record, Liam has revealed his is working with his fellow former Oasis' band mates, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock, but won't be reprising the name because he hates it. He said, "It's not Oasis. That was a s**t name anyway. I'm glad to see the back of it."

"There's one that we're digging at the moment, but we're going to get on with the music and see how it goes. If we haven't got a better one by then, we'll go with the one we're into."

"We'll be on stage this year, without a doubt. We're halfway through the record, the demos, that is. We're in the studio this April to see if this producer works out. If he does, we'll crack on with the album through June and July."

Paul Weller: 'Oasis Split Was Best Outcome For Noel And Liam Gallagher'

Paul Weller says Oasis’ split last year was the best possible outcome for brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

The Manchester group disbanded after guitarist Noel said he could no longer work with his brother.

“I feel the weight's been lifted from both of their shoulders and creatively it's going to be better for everyone,” Weller told XFM.

Noel and Liam are currently working on solo albums, and Weller, who is friends with both, said he expected their new projects to be “really good”.

“Lovely boys. They're all good. They're all buzzing,” he added.

Weller is currently promoting his new album, ‘Wake Up The Nation’, which is released on Monday (April 19).

On This Day In Oasis History...

"The Hindu Times" is a song by English rock group Oasis, and was the first single to be released from their fifth album Heathen Chemistry on 15 April 2002. It was written by Noel Gallagher. Noel got the name "The Hindu Times" from a t-shirt he saw in a charity shop. The song was the band's sixth UK #1 single, staying on top for one week before being dislodged by the Sugababes' "Freak Like Me".

The title has little to do with the lyrics of the song, which are more in the vein of Definitely Maybe's "Rock 'n' Roll Star". It has been speculated that the title refers to the main riffs' similarity to Indian music in sound, sounding as if they were played on a sitar. Gallagher himself says that it is because he had already named the song before any lyrics were written for it.

The song, which combines the powerful fast rock of their earlier work with the psychedelic feel of their later work, was one of the first Oasis singles since (What's the Story) Morning Glory to receive almost unanimously positive reviews from the critics. However, some fans have criticised the song, stating that the main guitar riff was lifted from the Stereophonics song, "Same Size Feet", which was released in 1997 on their Word Gets Around album and uses the exact same, or at least very similar, guitar riff.

The song was unveiled during Oasis' Autumn 2001 Noise and Confusion Tour. The song was due to be released commercially at the same time but Noel decided the track needed more work done on it to be suitable for release.

The B-side, "Just Getting Older", was written at the time of the release of Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

"The Hindu Times" - 3:53
"The Hindu Times" (demo) - 4:32
10 Minutes Of Noise And Confusion - Pt One - 9:26

The demo version of The Hindu Times is radically different from the finished album version. Most of the lyrics (sung by Noel) are different, and the slower sound of the song is much more "grungy", with a heavy drum loop running throughout the song. It is also a semitone higher in the demo.

The "10 Minutes..." documentary is the first part of a unique feature covering 48 hours on the road with Oasis during the Tour of Brotherly Love which took place in the USA with the Black Crowes during May and June 2001.

Russell Brand's New Film 'Inspired By Oasis, Mick Jagger, Morrissey'

Russell Brand has said his latest film role has been inspired by the likes of Liam and Noel Gallagher, Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Morrissey.

The comic is currently filming for Get Him To The Greek, which sees him reprise his character Aldous Snow from 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

In the new film, Snow fronts a band called Infant Sorrow, and when he was asked whether any musicians had inspired the role, he replied: "Lots. Jagger, Keith Richards, Bowie, Morrissey, Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher. I'm friendly with some musicians so I'm able to watch them. They're very different from comedians. They're rude - at the least the ones I know. They're so self-assured."

Brand told Comingsoon.net: "I didn't ransack the biography of my musical chums. I felt that would sort of be like grave robbing. I did lots of characteristics and traits from some musicians I know like Morrissey or Noel Gallagher for example."

In February, director Nick Stoller told Hitfix that Carl Barat has written songs for the project, which are likely to be sung by Brand fronting the fictional Infant Sorrow. Jarvis Cocker has also contributed three songs.

P. Diddy, Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Christina Aguilera and Brand's girlfriend Katy Perry all appear in the film.

The Enemy Talk Oasis

British indie types The Enemy have revealed the real reason behind their last minute call off on the final Oasis tour.

Gathering a number of close friends, Oasis began their biggest ever UK tour last year in high spirits. However almost immediately cracks appeared with The Enemy forced to pull out of the opening night.

Singer Tom Clarke came down ill, with The Enemy missing out on the first show of their stint on the tour. Later the band were forced to miss out on a show at Wembley stadium. Speaking to ClashMusic bass player Andy Hopkins revealed the real reason behind the call off - lilies.

"Basically, we were on the Oasis tour, we were doing Saturday at Wembley" he explained. "We were all dead looking forward to it, couldn’t wait. But the thing is, Tom’s allergic to lilies. It’s really bad. If he’s at home and his mum’s got lilies in the house, even then it can happen".

"We didn’t ask for it or anything, obviously, but there was lilies in the dressing room. His throat closed up and he couldn’t sing so we had to cancel with Oasis. I was absolutely fuming and he was gutted, but there just wasn’t anything he could do about it."

Continuing, The Enemy star explained that the band have made no timetable to begin work on their third album. "That’s the thing. We’re having no deadlines this time. We’re thinking of taking as long as we want, maybe an album out by the end of the year, maybe not."

"We want to release an album that we all love and we want time to be able to do that. There’s no point releasing music that you’re not happy with. You can’t force someone to write songs otherwise it’s not natural."

Pretty Green And Clarks Originals

The inspiration behind every Pretty Green product is our love for classic British style and the label’s first footwear release is no different. Pretty Green, in collaboration with Clarks Originals, is very proud to introduce the Pretty Green desert boot.

View the Green Desert Boot

The Pretty Green desert boot was designed by Liam and the Clarks Originals design team at their Somerset HQ and, as with every Pretty Green product, Liam had a clear vision of what he wanted from the collaboration. He wanted to keep the signature look and feel of the Clarks Original desert boot but add a wider and rounder toe as well as a lower heel to create a slimmer profile than the original and the result will be available to buy online in late July.

The Pretty Green desert boot comes in three standard colours; black, brown and champagne suede, and will also be available in a limited edition green suede exclusively to Pretty Green.

Designed by Liam and crafted from premium Janus Butt suede by long standing family tanners The Stead’s Tannery of Leeds, the Pretty Green desert boot will be the only footwear release from the label in AW10 and it’s not to be missed.

"Supersonic" is the debut single released by British rock band Oasis, written by Noel Gallagher. It also appears on their debut album, Definitely Maybe. It was released on the 11 April 1994 and peaked at #31 on the official UK charts. It was the song performed by the band on their debut national TV performance on Channel 4's The Word, which aired on 18 March 1994. It remains to this day a favourite song of both the band and their fans (on the Definitely Maybe DVD, Noel cites it as his favourite Oasis song). The single went silver in the UK on June 30, 2006, 12 years and 3 months after its original release.

In spite of its popularity, Gallagher claims the song is basically a collection of nonsense lyrics written in a matter of minutes, just before the band entered the recording studios to record the track. The identity of the character "Elsa" caused some confusion — according to the song She done it with a doctor/On a helicopter/she sniffin' in a tissue/Sellin' the Big Issue. Noel claims, "Someone told me "Supersonic" was about teenage prostitution. Shit!". It has since been revealed that Elsa was a nine-stone rottweiler with a flatulence problem who was in the studio on the day the song was written, hence the line "she's into Alka Seltzer". It was written and recorded at The Pink Museum in Liverpool. The plan was for Oasis to record "Bring It On Down" for their debut single and another bunch of demos. However, "Supersonic" was written and it impressed everyone so much, it was chosen to be the band's first single. Gallagher has revealed in interviews that "Supersonic"'s distinctive lead guitar part wasn't a deliberate copy of the intro to George Harrison's 1971 single "My Sweet Lord". The band recorded two videos for the song, for UK and US release. The UK version of the video features the band playing on a roof, similar to The Beatles' rooftop concert.

It is included on the official music album for Euro 2004, Vive O 2004!

The song is included on Oasis' compilation album Stop the Clocks.
