Liam Gallagher Wants Johnny Depp For Beatles Movie

Liam Gallagher is hoping to cast Johnny Depp in the Beatles movie he is making.

The former Oasis star is producing a film about the Fab Four’s company Apple Corps, based on Richard DiLello’s book The Longest Cocktail Party.

In an interview with Q magazine he said he would like Pirates Of The Caribbean star Depp to take a leading role.

Gallagher, who fronts new band Beady Eye, wants the US actor to play Derek Taylor, the Beatles’ long-time publicist.

Depp became friendly with the Gallaghers during the late 1990s, when he was dating model Kate Moss. He contributed to Oasis recording sessions, playing a slide guitar solo on the track Fade In-Out.

Gallagher, 38, told the July edition of Q, out on Wednesday: “Derek Taylor was a dude. He’s up there with Lennon.

“The film script is done. It’s gonna blow people’s minds, man. I’m just waiting to find out when we choose the actors.

“I want Johnny Depp to play Derek Taylor. It’s got Johnny Depp written all over it, man.”

DiLello’s book is an insider’s guide to Apple, examining the company and the band’s demise.

Andy Bell Interview

Part two of an interview with Andy Bell from Gibson.

When Beady Eye formed in 2009, the press and fans alike wondered if the former Oasis band members could make a go of it without their leader, Noel Gallagher. But the foursome—composed of frontman Liam Gallagher, guitarists Andy Bell and Gem Archer, and drummer Chris Sharrock—quickly proved the naysayers wrong with a killer debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding. The group have spent the better part of 2011 touring the world and proving without a doubt that, even without Noel, they’re still rock ‘n’ roll stars.

For Andy Bell, the band has given him the opportunity to return to his original instrument of guitar after a decade playing bass with Oasis. Bell sat down at the Gibson NYC Showroom to talk about his years in Oasis, plans for Beady Eye’s next album and his mystical 13-year-old mentor.

On This Day In Oasis History...

Below are two videos from May 21st 2001, when Noel Gallagher was interviewed in Toronto, Canada for 'Much Music'.

The band were in North America for 'The Tour of Brotherly Love' featuring Oasis, The Black Crowes, and Spacehog. The three rock bands featured pairs of brothers: Noel and Liam Gallagher, Chris and Rich Robinson, Royston and Antony Langdon. The tour's title is a nod to the fact that all three pairs of brothers have been known to fight, sometimes physically, sometimes even publicly.

Originally scheduled for 21 dates across the United States and Canada, the three bands performed to capacity crowds in medium-sized arenas and concert halls, including a three-night stand at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Noel Gallagher and Gem Archer of Oasis and the Langdon brothers of Spacehog joined The Black Crowes on stage at the end of most shows on the tour, performing covers of songs by Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. Oasis drummer Alan White missed the tour with a thumb injury and was replaced by older brother Steve White.

Also broadcast on this day was 'MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch', click here to watch the fight.

Miles Kane Talks Beady Eye And Oasis

Taken from an interview with Miles Kane from contactmusic.com, read the full article here.

So what do you think your album has brought to the UK chart which may have been lacking before?

I think my album is bringing the rock and roll thing back to UK music. Like Oasis - I mean, I'm not comparing myself to them - but I'm bringing that kind of music back into 2011. It's not an X-Factor type of thing; it's solo and quite ballsy. I suppose it's got swagger, but I don't mean that in an arrogant way. It's good to still be rewarded for making that kind of honest music.

You're a big Oasis fan and are friendly with Liam and Noel. What did it mean to you to support Beady Eye on tour?

It meant so much that they asked me. I love Liam, so to be at Beady Eye's first gigs was exciting and one of the best tours I've done. Sometimes on support you feel a bit like there's no point if people didn't come to see you specifically, but with the Beady Eye tour it was perfect. We gained a lot, and people were getting there early just to see us. Travelling with my band is great too as I've known them all for a long time.

Noel Gallagher Wishes He Was Still Signed To Creation Records

Noel Gallagher wishes he was still signed to Creation records.

The 43-year-old musician was signed to the iconic indie label with his band Oasis - who went on to become one of the UK's biggest bands - and is upset at the label's demise in 2000 because he thinks modern record companies offer a very different environment.

He said: "People now invest in the product and music isn't about that. I think if you asked any single band now, we'd all love to be back on Creation, not because we don't get artistic control, anywhere else, but it was a great atmosphere to make music and talk about what was possible."

He also lamented the fact most of the people who used to work at the label, founded by notorious industry figure Alan McGee, don't enjoy the jobs they have subsequently gone on to have.

Noel added: "I bump into some of the girls [who use to work there] now and again, they're all doing the same thing but for record labels they don't like for bands they don't believe in. They've all got jobs now."
