Noel Gallagher And More Have Created A Special Playlist For Oxjam

Everyone from Noel Gallagher to Ella Eyre has come together to create a playlist in the name of Oxjam.

Wolf Alice, Eliza Doolittle and The Vaccines have also thrown their pick of tracks into the mix, resulting in a playlist that ranges from Drake to The Clash.

Speaking about her inclusion of The Rolling Stones' 'You Can't Always Get What You Want', Eliza explained: "That had me in tears [at Glastonbury]. As soon as the choir came in I was bawling. So good."

Throughout October, 700 venues, 6,000 volunteers, 5,000 musicians and 150,000 audience members will help Oxjam raise at least £300,000 for Oxfam's work around the world.

Events include Oxjam Takeovers (a series of mini festivals in 42 UK locations) as well as a nationwide search for Band of the Year.

Pretty Green Auction Exclusive Gibson Guitar For Jon Brookes

Pretty Green will be hosting an auction for a signed Gibson LPJ guitar, kindly donated by Gibson Foundation. The guitar will be signed by some of the acts that play the Jon Brookes memorial gig at the Royal Albert Hall, later today.

The concert features James Dean Bradfield, Liam Gallagher and friends, members of The Vaccines and New Order, The Chemical Brothers and Dumb.

Proceeds will go to the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of Jon.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the leading charity in the UK, committed to fighting brain tumours, the biggest cancer killer of the under 40s, including children.  Over 9,000 families are devastated by the diagnosis of a brain tumour every year and, unlike other cancers, survival rates have not improved in the last 40 years.  Less than 2% of funding for cancer research in the UK is invested into brain tumours and The Brain Tumour Charity is determined to change this to improve survival.

Proceeds will be invested in The Brain Tumour Charity’s world-class research programme and will help to raise awareness of this devastating disease.

This is going to be a very special guitar with potentially some very exclusive signatures.

As soon as the auction goes live, I will let you know.

The Vaccines 'Justin Young' On Avoiding Beef With Liam Gallagher

Taken from an interview with Justin Young by New York Magazine, read the full interview here.

Can you understand why the press goes after these things? Like, were you a fan of the old Blur vs. Oasis beef?

I loved it. I kind of found the personalities just as interesting as the music. Well, the people I latched onto when I was a really young kid, Elvis or Kurt Cobain or even Liam Gallagher, they’re big characters, aren’t they? And along with enjoying the music, you enjoy them.

So do you ever feel a responsibility to be a bigger character yourself?

No, no. Once or twice, perhaps, I’ve been criticized for not being that big character. But I’m not. That’s really it. It’s sort of weird, really. It’s part of it: It’s performance, and it’s theater, and that’s why pop music is great. I’m always seduced by it. But at the same time, while we are a pop band, I find it hard to fake. Honesty through creativity and performance is a really important thing to me. I'm not gonna say stuff just to get a reaction.

Speaking of Liam Gallagher — he called you guys “boring,” and you eventually responded by saying “Words are his weapon, not mine. I think I've made a better record than he has [with Beady Eye].” That seemed smart, to avoid taking an overt dig.

I mean, it was a dig. I was trying to bury it, but I should have known that that would have been a pull quote. And then everyone used it. I’m not really interested in getting involved. I do think we made a better record than Beady Eye. But he’s a better rock star.

Justin Young Claims His Album Is Better Then Beady Eye's

The Vaccines singer Justin Young has told the Rolling Stone that they have made a better album than Beady Eye.

This is after a recent war of the words between Liam Gallagher and the band.

Young said: "Well, that's what he trades off, isn't it? Words are his weapon, not mine. I think I've made a better record than he has."
