Oasis
New releases reign supreme on the jukebox in 2012, but Oasis grab the top artist spot.
An in-depth look into both online and offline jukebox selections reveals Oasis are the most played artist of 2012, despite the fact every one of the ten most popular jukebox track choices for the year were new releases.
Supplying over 15,000 digital jukeboxes in the UK, Soundnet have unparalleled access to information on what pub-goers across the country are listening to, helping us guide landlords on the most profitable jukebox tracks for their pub or bar.
In 2012, we’ve found that the UK public are three times more likely to select ‘chart and new releases’ on their local jukebox than any other category, with 80 per cent of jukebox income typically coming from this category.
This interest in popular culture has even influenced the chart for the back catalogue section, with Kenny Roger’s ‘The Gambler’ rising to the top spot this year after becoming the unofficial England Rugby team anthem in 2007. Similarly, the ‘Album of the Month’ option, a Soundnet exclusive featuring the latest albums in full, came in as the second most browsed category.

The Beatles
Noel Gallagher has faith he will end up in Heaven — because he believes God loves Oasis.
The rocker has already written his Pearly Gates speech to persuade St Peter to overlook the catalogue of sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll sins he’s racked up.
Dad-of-three Noel, 45, said: “I’d say, ‘You’ve heard Don’t Look Back In Anger?’, and they’d say, ‘Of course’. I’d say, ‘Look it’s me, let us in. I can play you a tune. I robbed some stuff, I took a lot of drugs, but I’m all right’.”
But Noel could face some awkward questions at Heaven’s gate. He once echoed John Lennon’s “Beatles are more important than Christ” claim by saying Oasis were bigger than God.
When he picked up the Godlike Genius gong at last year’s NME awards he said: “I accept I am a genius, just like God.”
And when asked about the lyrics to 1997 hit D’You Know What I Mean? — which include “I met my maker, and I made him cry” — Noel said: “On Judgement Day, if there ever is one, I’ll have a few things to say to Him.”
But Noel believes his “real-life angel” missus Sara McDonald, 40, will be straight in.
The High Flying Birds frontman added: “She’s not a heavenly body.
"I can touch her and I do regularly and it’s great — for me, not for her.”

Gem Archer has told Q Magazine how his Beady Eye bandmate Liam Gallagher has matured and is still completely restless.
He said "Liam, is still out there, he's definitely matured but he's still got that thing I can see in Liam, he's just on the search. I don't know what for...It. I don't know if he'll ever find it. But that's his engine. He's still completely restless."
Beady Eye are set to release the follow up to Different Gear, Still Speeding later this year.

A few quotes about the new Beady Eye album, that I typed up from the current issue of Mojo.
Liam Gallagher: "It feels like a really special album, You know when you normally go through a door. Errr, I'm not really sure about that... Well, we've f*cking booted the door of the hinges. We've steamed in... I hate the word experimenting, but we are definitely experimenting."
Gem Archer: "We've had a few mates in, there's been the sound of jaws dropping."
Liam Gallagher "We tend to work 12 to 12. Maybe have a drink at the weekend. But theres a lot of sage being burnt. keep out them evil spirits. That's Dave - you know what Americans are like. Scaredy cats aren't they? it smells nice though.
Gem Archer: "It's broader, wider, deeper. It's not stripped-down rock 'n' roll, that's for sure. The constant is Liam's voice and he's truly on form. He sounding outrageous."
Producer Dave Sitek on Liam's voice: "It's unreal. When you can just turn on a microphone and do nothing to the vocals and you're like, that sounds like a goddam record! It's one of those. It's rock band instrumentation, but it's used in a different way. There's a lot of slowed-down and sped-up and outer space. It's trippy. The Strength of the songs is so high that we got to be real playfull."
The album features some unusual instrumentation - including celeste, plus cymbals played with a violin bow.

Oasis
Noel Gallagher hasn't "lit up the world" with his solo material, according to his brother Liam.
The two siblings have a famously fiery relationship which caused their band, Oasis, to split in 2009. While Liam has gone on to release music with his group Beady Eye, Noel has focused on his own material.
Noel has made disparaging remarks about Beady Eye's success in public, with Liam unsure why he feels able to point the finger.
"I tell you f**king what, we've all got a lot of graft to do, d'you know what I mean? Him too," Liam fumed to Q magazine. "He's sold a f**king few records, why wouldn't he sell records, he was the main songwriter of Oasis but he certainly hasn't f**king lit up the world."
Liam still harbours some animosity towards his brother for the way Oasis ended. The pair argued backstage at a concert in Paris, resulting in a broken guitar and Noel quitting.
Liam finds is hard to support his brother's new venture after what happened.
"Was I pleased for him [when he released his album]? What, for splitting up my f**king band? I'm not pleased for him, no," Liam said.
"I hope he's f**king happy but he doesn't look it. And he won't be happy when he hears we've done an out-there record that we're actually gonna f**king release before him. With our out-there record, you're gonna hear it next year, with his out-there record, you'll never hear it."

Beady Eye
Don McLean
Gorillaz
Liam Gallagher
Marcus Mumford
One Direction
Steps
Victoria Beckham
Liam Gallagher has ruined his chances of ever being invited to a barn dance.
The Beady Eye frontman has laid into multi award-winning folk band Mumford & Sons.
It’s a rant up there with his finest taunts of fellow music stars.
Liam said: “Everyone looks like they’ve got f***ing nits and eat lentil soup with their sleeves rolled up.
“They all look like they live on the heath. Maybe that’s where they record.”
It’s not just the band’s appearance that riles Liam.
He’s not keen on their instruments either.
He said: “Everyone’s f***ing Don McLean — far too many acoustic guitars, no style. They look like they shop at Oxfam.
“I wouldn’t put any posters up of any band if I was a 16-year-old lad. There’s none of that sitting down on f***ing stools for me, sweetheart.”
He didn’t even mention that they all went to posh schools.
Frontman Marcus Mumford won’t feel too downhearted by Liam’s choice words though.
He only needs to check his bank balance to confirm how well the band’s albums and tours have gone down, both in the UK and US.
Besides, Mumford & Sons aren’t the only band to annoy Liam in recent months.
He’s got a few menacing moans about One Direction — although he admits he has warmed to them.
Liam told Q Magazine: “I like them. Fair play to them. Why not, man? They haven’t got a f***ing clue either.
“I met them at the Olympics and their heads were up their ar*es, but they’re harmless.”
Liam is no stranger to winding up fellow stars with cutting comments.
Florence Welch got a dressing down in 2010 when Liam said: “I’m not having anyone with ginger hair making music. She sounds like someone has stood on her foot.”
In 2001 he described Gorillaz as “like three-year-olds’ music — worse than Steps”.
In the same interview he let rip at Victoria Beckham — shortly after she released her autobiography.
He said: “She can’t even chew gum and walk in a straight line, let alone write a book.”
Shame Liam has no plans to put out an autobiography himself.
That would be well worth a read.

Oasis
Noel Gallagher doesn't want his kids profiting from his music.
The former Oasis rocker has always wanted a solo career in order to make use of his prolific writing, as he hates the thought of his unreleased material surfacing after he dies and his children - Anais, 12, Donovan, five, and Sonny, two - getting to ''take the glory''.
He said: ''I did fancy making solo albums but never to the detriment of Oasis because I f***ing loved that band. But it never quite transpired that I got the time...
''When Gem [Archer] and Andy [Bell] bass joined Oasis, they started writing songs, so I was only getting five on an album, every three years, but I was still writing 30 songs a year and I ended up with this huge backlog.
''I was like, 'What I'm going to be in Oasis when I'm 53 and have 140 unreleased songs? And then release them when I die and then all my kids will be flying around in Ferraris and Boeing 747s, f***ing taking my glory?' Oh no, I don't f***ing think so.''
Because of the changes in the music industry, Noel thinks his kids will have different ''relationships'' to records and he worries his collection will go to waste when he dies.
He said: ''I do wonder what my five-year-old lad's relationship to music is going to be. When they're reading the will out, 'And I bequeath to you, Donovan 14,000 vinyl records...' He's just going to go, 'Sell it, not arsed.' Two Bodines albums and a La's 10-inch that was deleted on the day it was bought from Picadilly records? He's going to say, 'F**k, that's just taking up room, I don't want it.' ''

Liam Gallagher has rejected an offer to reform Oasis in 2015.
The year will mark the 20th anniversary of the band's iconic album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
Liam was questioned about the rumours and told Q Magazine: "It was Noel who started that, I've never said a f*cking dicky bird". "Listen we're doing our album. Hopefully people are gonna dig it, which will allow us to go round the world and tour it. And if that goes over to 2015, whoops, sorry about that. I've got a new record, I'm buzzing off it, wouldn't be putting it out if I thought it was gonna get laughed out of town so f*ck Oasis as far as I'm concerned and f8ck Noel Gallagher."
Q then told Liam they had heard strong rumours from reliable sources that the reunion is on.
He said "What, because Noel Gallagher's finished touring?" he scoffs. "He'll be f*cking doing it on his own. Or with his f*cking High Flying Smurfs. The thought of going onstage with that f*cking idiot anyway and hanging out with his daft mates, the pretend drug addicts and all his snobs from Sloane Street, f*ck that, not interested, mate. We're Beady Eye all the f*cking way."

Liam Gallagher has been speaking to Q Magazine about Beady Eye's debut album.
The singer said "It was done off the back of Oasis, it wasn't progressive enough, it hadn't moved on. There were good moments but it just didn't connect. This one, people might hate it too but its not stuck in a 60s rut. Obviously there's Lennon vibes in there but we've turned it on it's head. Not that the pressure's on or anything, but it's a really important record for me. If no one buys it, it's back to the drawing board. So we'll see. I'm prepared for whatever".
