Ed Sheeran Responds To Noel Gallagher's Remarks About His Wembley Concerts

Ed Sheeran has responded to Noel Gallagher's remarks that he couldn't live in a world where Ed Sheeran headlines Wembley, stating "I can live in it, it's really enjoyable".

Sheeran tweeted his comeback after Gallagher expressed his dismay at the fact that Sheeran will play three gigs at Wembley Stadium to NME. In the cover feature of this week's issue, which is on newsstands from tomorrow and available digitally, the former Oasis man said: "I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a fucking guitar it seems subversive, but it’s fucking not."

As confirmed last year, Sheeran will play a trio of dates at the 80,000 capacity London stadium in July. Two of the dates were added due to phenomenal demand.

Noel Gallagher Can't Live In A World Where Ed Sheeran Is Headlining Wembley

Noel Gallagher has expressed his dismay at the fact Ed Sheeran will play three gigs at Wembley Stadium later this year.

As confirmed last year, Sheeran will play a trio of dates at the 80,000 capacity London stadium in July. Two of the dates were added due to popular demand.

However, Gallagher is not happy this is happening. As he tells NME in the cover feature of this week's issue, which is on newsstands from tomorrow and available digitally, "I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a fucking guitar it seems subversive, but it’s fucking not."

Gallagher goes on to give his evaluation of the current music scene, painting a bleak picture.

He said: "It’s a strange time, and it seems like the whole thing is embedded for good now, for fucking forever. It’s not all over, but it’ll go back to the way it was in the early ‘80s where indie bands are the alternative thing, the lower level. In the early ‘80s everyone at indie labels, even major labels, were trying to push this music to the fore because everything else was shit, and maybe it’ll happen again, but I don’t see it for the next decade."

Earlier this week Gallagher revealed his new single 'Ballad Of The Mighty I' and reiterated his desire to play Glastonbury in June, suggesting that he might take his guitar and play regardless of whether he is officially booked for the festival or not.

Gallagher's upcoming record 'Chasing Yesterday' will be his second solo studio album and features his new single 'In The Heat Of The Moment'. Johnny Marr features on the track 'The Ballad Of Mighty I'.

Noel Gallagher Pokes Fun At Oasis Video Rant With New Single

Noel Gallagher, who ranted about how much he hated making music videos last year, has unveiled his new track today in which he repeats many of the things he previously poked fun at.

In 2014, an expletive-packed compilation of his scathing comments about his past Oasis videos became a YouTube sensation.

Now a new six minute-long clip to accompany his next single Ballad Of The Mighty I appears to have parodied many of the elements which upset him the most.

The 47-year-old's hilarious grumbles were taken from an audio commentary track which featured on a DVD release of the band's hits, with Gallagher cringing as he pointed out that the band had excelled at "walking and playing and standing still... and looking bored".

The guitarist moaned about walking in slow motion repeatedly, complained about how a director told him to do one scene again with more energy in his eyes and spoke about his hatred of the whole experience.

"I hate the fact they cost a fortune. I hate the fact you've got to be there at eight in the morning. I hate the fact you don't leave until eight the next morning.

"I don't like the fact that the people who're making them think they're making Apocalypse Now and everything is the most important - 'this the really important shot'," he said, adding that he was tired of doing repeated takes.

For his latest video meanwhile he is seen walking and playing guitar in slow motion and again looks completely bored.

During his previous rant, Noel had grumbled that the band looked like they were wearing someone else's clothes, and in his new film he is seen stealing a new jacket from outside a shop.

A self-absorbed director also appears at the beginning, telling him: "Just keep it super loose, lots of energy in the eyes".

The video concludes with him adding: "Good energy in the eyes, I like the swagger. Just had a bit of a technical back there. Can we just go for another one? Chris Martin did 10 takes."

Noel Gallagher On The Plan For A Oasis Musical

In an exclusive chat with Jon Holmes, Noel said an American had pitched an Oasis "rags to riches" musical to him - and he found the idea hilarious.

Noel Gallagher has admitted that he might have blown the chance to make an Oasis musical a reality...because he found it so hilarious.

Noel was talking as he unveiled brilliant new song The Ballad Of The Mighty I, which features Johnny Marr, on the XFM Breakfast Show.

"Somebody did talk to me once about a musical, recently, an American dude," Noel told Jon. "And after I'd stopped laughing, I realised that he'd walked off."

Gallagher said the pitch was for "the rags to riches story of Oasis" to be put onstage. "After I'd belly-laughed and spewed up a drink, he wasn't there any more, so I don't think it'll be happening any time soon!"

Sting's multi-million dollar musical The Last Ship closed on Broadway after less than three months - something Noel didn't seem to have a lot of sympathy for.

"Some people have no taste, I find that staggering that people would not go and see a musical about a Geordie fella who doesn't speak in a Geordie accent who used to be in a band with a jazz drummer whose dad was in the CIA about him growing up in a shipyard.

"The mind boggles."

Noel Gallagher Says New Bands Are Scared Of Social Media

Noel Gallagher has said that new bands are "careerist" and are afraid to be outspoken because they're scared of the backlash on social media.

During a round table interview with the NME, which also included Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods and Elly Jackson of La Roux, Gallagher was asked why so many bands have so little to say.

"It's because they're s**t scared of social media! They're s**t scared of somebody killing it before it's started. One of the main differences for me is that bands these days are careerists.

"I know for a fact that nobody in Primal Scream ever thought about a career, or Oasis, or The Verve. Everybody was thinking, 'We're having a great time, this is amazing!'"

Guitar bands have never gone away, certainly not at THIS FEELING who've has been fighting the corner for the best emerging talent around for 8 years and counting.
