What Happened When Noel Gallagher, Russell Brand & Morrissey Went For A Night Out?

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before...

Noel Gallagher and Russell Brand are old friends. The guitarist leaped to the comedian's defence during Sachsgate, with the pair remaining close during both bad times and good.

So the opportunity for a night out with Morrissey was just too difficult to pass up. Speaking on Radio 2 yesterday (October 14th) Gallagher revealed that Morrissey's acidic tongue made for a memorable evening.

"He's the funniest man I've ever met in my entire life. Absolutely side splitting," he said, before adding: "He's not got a good word to say about anyone – he's very cutting. He bullied Russell!"

Noel was, of course, promoting his newly announced album 'Chasing Yesterday'. Seemingly self-financed, the record was then shopped to various record labels by the guitarist's management.

"I don't have a record deal – my management have to put it in a suitcase and hawk it around the world," he explained. "I don't think the music business has a clue whats going on at the moment… I sat in a meeting recently, of how we're gonna release it ('Chasing Yesterday')... I got so frustrated… there's too much time devoted to how we're gonna release the record, just get it out and get on the road!"

Noel Gallagher: 'Morrissey Is The Funniest Man I've Ever Met'

Noel Gallagher has said that Morrissey is the funniest man he's ever met.

Speaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 earlier this evening (October 13), Gallagher spoke about a night out in Los Angeles which he shared with Morrissey and Russell Brand. "He's the funniest man I've ever met in my entire life. Absolutely side splitting." He added: "He's not got a good word to say about anyone – he's very cutting. He bullied Russell!"

Following the announcement of Noel Gallagher's new album, 'Chasing Yesterday', the former Oasis man also revealed that he is yet to have a record deal. The album will be released on March 2, 2015 under the Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds name. However, speaking to Whiley, Gallagher commented: "I don't have a record deal – my management have to put it in a suitcase and hawk it around the world."

Gallagher went on to discuss the current state of the music industry, saying: "I don't think the music business has a clue whats going on at the moment… I sat in a meeting recently, of how we're gonna release it ['Chasing Yesterday']... I got so frustrated… there's too much time devoted to how we're gonna release the record, just get it out and get on the road!"

Discussing the record, Gallagher said he had only just decided on the title. "I dithered on the title for the album up until about two days ago when I had to submit it… I must have changed it 12 times!" He added that he now 'hates' his choice. "As soon as it went I thought 'I hate it!"

A UK arena tour will take place next year, with dates in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham and Belfast. Scroll down for full details.

Baker's Tribute To Oasis Album Definitely Maybe

Adam Cox, from Stockport, has created an edible replica of the iconic cover to celebrate the record's 20th anniversary.

Forget Shakermaker, Oasis-mad Adam Cox has proved he’s a top caker-baker

His creations could easily rival any of the showstoppers we’ll see on the Great British Bake Off tonight.

The Stockport-born baker, 29, has proved he’s a rock’n’rolling pin star by recreating the iconic cover of Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe in sponge and icing to celebrate the record’s 20th anniversary.

The cake, which took two days to carve and decorate, is a replica of Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs’ living room in Didsbury, and features all five Britpop bandmates, including Noel and Liam Gallagher.

Adam, who grew up in High Lane, near Hazel Grove, said: “Creating a cake to mark the anniversary of this album was a must. It remains one of my favourite albums and I wanted to celebrate it in the only way I know how.”

It is the latest in a batch of edible Greater Manchester icons he has baked, including fellow music legends Morrissey and Frank Sidebottom.

Noel Gallagher Meets Up With Russell Brand And Morrissey In LA

Russell Brand should have guessed what he’d be in for meeting up with Noel Gallagher and Morrissey.

He tweeted this snap on a night out in LA, and wrote: “Victimized by heroes. Me with Moz and Noel G. Quite badly bullied.”

He’d help himself by turning up without the beads and waistcoat.

Strange reaction from Morrissey – the closest his mouth has ever been to a smile.

Russell Brand Would Want A 'Taxidermied Noel Gallagher' On Desert Island

Russell Brand has told BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs programme that if he were to become stranded he'd want a stuffed Noel Gallagher as his luxury item.

When asked by presenter Kirsty Young what item he’d want with him to make his life more bearable, Brand asked: "You can't take a person, can you? I can't take Noel Gallagher as a luxury item, as a minstel?" Young replied: "You could take him stuffed." Brand then said: "That’s the perfect thing. I'd like a taxidermied Noel Gallagher, perhaps somehow misrepresented – like wearing one of Liam’s jackets."

Later he added: "I've got my stuffed Noel Gallagher to worship and dress up, if I want to. I can do what I like to him. It’ll be a mockery of that man on that island."

For his eight musical choices, the comedian and actor picked:

Amy Winehouse – 'You Know I’m No Good'
Daniel Johnston – 'Like A Monkey In A Zoo'
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – 'Red Right Hand'
The Libertines – 'Tell The King'
Ravi Shankar With Family & Friends – 'I Am Missing You'
Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip – 'Thou Shalt Always Kill'
Nirinjan Kaur – 'Triple Mantra'
Morrissey – 'Now My Heart is Full'

Earlier this year, Brand performed with Noel Fielding for the Teenage Cancer Trust Show at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of a week of events organised by Gallagher. During the show, Brand played a video recorded at Gallagher's house, which showed the singer's children punching a Brand face mask while shouting, "I hate Russell Brand!"

Noel Gallagher Thinks Rock Star Morrissey Is A Booze God

Noel Gallagher thinks rock star Morrissey is a booze god.

The ex-Smiths frontman popped into the Oasis dressing room for a chat before one of their gigs.

And Noel, 45, admits he was shocked to see the controversial rocker, 53, down almost a whole pint of vodka.

Noel said: “I asked him what he wanted to drink, and he said vodka.

“I swear to you, he had about three-quarters of a pint of vodka with a splash of tonic.

“He was necking it. Top man. I love him.”

Noel Gallagher Reveals His Tinnitus Agony

Noel Gallagher is a huge fan of The Smiths – but his love of Morrissey doesn’t extend as far as wearing a hearing aid in his honour.

The former Ooasis star has been for a brain scan as doctors try to get to the bottom of the constant ringing in his ears.

Funnily enough, they told him it could be down to playing a guitar at ear-shatteringly loud volume for the best part of 20 years.

So well done, Harley Street doctors — give yourselves a pat on the back for that diagnosis.

In all seriousness, though — it can be a nasty one.

The Who’s Pete Townshend suffers from tinnitus, as does Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Speaking on the one and only Andy Goldstien'ss TalkSport show, he explained: “I went for a brain scan. They did find it!

“I’ve got bizarre ringing in my ears. I think it’s just through playing guitar for the last 20 years so I had to sit in a tube in the hospital.

“It’s an accumulation of many things but I’ve had a bloody great time doing it all and if I do eventually die of brain disease it will have been worth it.

“The funny thing is they give you these headphones and I chose classical music.
“It came on and it was the exact music I play to my little kid when he goes to bed. I was in there for 25 minutes.

“It was horrible. I know what the results will be — ‘There is nothing wrong with you’. It’s another way of fleecing money out of you.”

Noel had the hump on Goldstein’s show the other week about the cost of dental hygienists. It sounds more like Saga Radio.

Good old Goldstein, a friend of the column, chipped in with his own story about his bad back.

Noel poked fun at him and sidekick Jason Cundy, calling them the Frank Lampard and Stevie Gerrard of broadcasting.

Andy asked who the singer would rather be and Noel said: “Lampard or Gerrard? Lampard’s got the better bird.”

Christine Bleakley's got her own money as well — which would appeal to Mr Gallagher and his purse strings...

Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Fifty Six

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Yes comrades.

So . . . Paraguay? Holy shit-balls what a crazy country!! We'll get to the gig in a bit but first let me take you on a little journey from the hotel to the soundcheck. 40 minutes it took and honest to God you've never seen anything like it . . . well I haven't anyway.

So . . . we set off in a convoy of sorts. 3 vans, security guards armed to the teeth in unmarked cars, police in off road vehicles sirens wailing and some on motorbikes which looked like they may have been brand spanking new at some point in the 80's . . . closely followed by crazy fans in a separate convoy of private cars and taxis; It quickly turned into some kind of stunt driving chase scene from a James Bond movie. The faster we went the faster these kids went. Each time we hit traffic (quite literally I might add!) and slowed down to a crawl these kids jumped out of their cars and surrounded mine banging on the roof and waving random memorabilia like they were some kind of religious artifacts. At one point we were hurtling up some kind of dual carriageway and a fucking cow just appeared in the middle of the road . . . A FUCKING REAL COW . . . just casually out for a stroll!!! We skidded right up to it's gloriously gormless bonce as it give us that look that cows do and mooed at us as if to say . . . "watch your speed gringo!"

On we went at various points I seen:

A fully functioning gym just "there" at the side of the road.

Brand new-shrink wrapped-office furniture just stacked up in the middle of a flooded street.

A LOT of broken down motorbikes.

A herd of chickens . . . in the middle of the road (probably looking for the cow).

A seemingly endless army of young men at traffic lights holding out bunches of bananas (for sale presumably).

Big houses, little houses, bombed out houses and half built houses no-one could be arsed finishing.

A city of tents.

Something what looked like a car repair work-shop/pet shop!!

And to cap it all somebody transporting a horse on the back of a truck . . . not a wagon . . . a little truck . . . not in a horse box, oh no, just standing on the back of a little truck with some lad holding onto it's mane!!! All this while travelling over pot-holes the size of swimming pools!! (It's probably fair to say you won't be seeing Morrissey anytime soon!!).

The time was 2:30 in the afternoon. God help us all when it goes dark I thought to myself.

The gig itself was HUGE. Another 10,000!! It was held at a jockey club race track thing. As night fell and the dust was being kicked up and the floodlights were on it looked like something out of Apocalypse Now, or apocalypse yesterday . . . whatever . . . it was cool as fuck!!

Now, as we know these South Americans love a banner and of course there were the usual marriage proposals and paternity claims etc,etc . . . but this next one has to go down as the weirdest one yet . . . here goes:

IF I HAD A GUN I'D SHOOT A HOLE INTO THE FRUITS BACKSTAGE!!!

What the holy fuck is that supposed to mean? Surely they didn't mean my band??

Had a nice little (I say little but it was perfectly adequate) bra slung onstage too!! Always a treat. One side of it was a sequined Paraguayan flag . . . the other a sequinned Union Jack!! And in that wonderful moment our two great nations had never been closer.

That – comrades - is the power of music (and probably a little bit of alcohol) right there.

Makes you proud eh?

Paraguay. You are madness personified.

I loved you very much.

We'll meet again.

ONWARDS.

GD.

Noel Gallagher Wants The Smiths To Reform

Noel Gallagher says the one band he wants to reform is The Smiths and he hasn't given up hope they will perform together again, despite Morrissey and Johnny Marr's fractured relationship.

The 'If I Had a Gun' hitmaker is a massive fan of the iconic 80s indie band and though frontman Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr have always maintained they won't get back together, Noel is still holding out hope.

The former Oasis star's hopes have been boosted by The Stone Roses' recent decision to reunite even though frontman Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire hadn't spoken for over a decade.

Asked which group he would like to reunite, he said: "The one everybody would like to see is The Smiths and they say it's not going to happen but they said the [Stone] Roses wouldn't happen and they said Led Zeppelin wouldn't happen."

Noel believes The Stone Roses concerts next year are going to be special and he has every confidence the seminal band will be able to live up to the hype.

The rocker - who ended Oasis when he quit the band in August 2009 following a fight with his brother Liam - said: "I'm happy for them, it's great for the fans. It's going to be great, what can I say?"

Noel Gallagher On Liam, Amy Winehouse, Morrissey, John Lydon, The Queen And More

After Oasis ended in a flurry of kung-fu kicks and punches, Noel Gallagher went away and quietly made a solo record, which could just be his finest collection of songs yet. In a revealing interview with Stuart Clark, he talks about new beginnings, making babies, Amy Winehouse, Morrissey, John Lydon, the Queen and that violent night in Paris with Liam.

The Tower Bridge Business Complex in Bermondsey, London SE16 seems an unlikely place for a scurvy rock hack and his faithful snapper companion to be heading, but tucked in among all the industrial units is Backline, the famous rehearsal space where Noel Gallagher is preparing for his first tour at the helm of new outfit The High
Flying Birds.

Walking into reception myself and the boy Keogh are greeted by a sign bearing a bastardisation of the old Hunter S. Thompson quotation, to whit: “The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs. But there is a negative side.”

Ah, the good doctor always did have a way with words. Walking down the corridor to the outside terrace where Mr. Gallagher is holding court, we see evidence of the warren-like building having previously been occupied by Joan Jett, Corine Bailey Rae, Jimmy Page, Robbie Williams, the Manics, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Massive Attack, The Raconteurs, Coldplay, Duffy, Kylie, Amy Winehouse, Rod Stewart, Muse, Paul McCartney and – cue swelling of national pride – Boyzone.

I’ve met Noel on eight or nine previous occasions and, while greeted with a firm handshake and smiley “hello”, he’s not his usual super-ebullient self today.

Maybe the ten-hour stints in the studio are getting to him or he’s worried about what sort of reception his first post-Oasis album, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, is going to get.
