The manager of Beady Eye, Quest's Scott Rodger, has told Music Week that Liam Gallagher's new album could be the the best LP that the ex-Oasis man has ever recorded.
Rodger, who also manages the likes of Arcade Fire, Paul McCartney and Noah & the Whale, features in a four-page Big Interview in the new Music Week magazine.
Of all the albums on Quest’s roster, Rodger said he may be most enthused about the second record from Beady Eye – Liam Gallagher’s post-Oasis band, which also features Andy Bell and Gem Archer.
The group started recording the record in London last month with TV On The Radio guitarist and producer Dave Sitek, who has also worked behind the desk on albums from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, CSS and Foals.
The currently unnamed album, the follow-up to 2011's Different Gear, Still Speeding, is due for release in the first half of 2013.
Explained Rodger: “It’s probably the most exciting record I’ve worked on for as long as I can remember. Everyone thinks they know exactly what record Beady Eye are going to deliver, but they’ve completely turned it on its head.
“I think Liam Gallagher is making the best album of his entire career. That’s a big statement because he’s made some classic records - usually with his brother’s songs. But Beady Eye are very talented players and writers and are technically fantastic.
“Gem Archer is an amazing engineer and producer. Both he and Andy Bell will produce records for other people at some point, I’m sure. They pretty much made the record this year in Gem’s studio in his basement. They were writing all year and did what a lot of bands do: they wrote about nine or 10 songs and then said, ‘We’re ready to go with the album.’
“We encouraged them to keep writing until August or September and lo and behold, they wrote 21 songs – and some of the later songs were the best ones. Then we had to find a producer. We wanted to get someone in who’d take [the album] from a 7/10 to a 9/10.
“I was on a plane to New York for a best friend’s wedding thinking, ‘Who can I call?’. Then I thought of [TV On The Radio producer] Dave Sitek – who I associate with New York and great records. I sent him the demos and a link to the studio after being told he’d never leave his LA home. He gets straight back to me to say, ‘I’m there.’
“Now they’ve tracked 21 songs in nine days [in London]. Sitek called at 6pm the other night to say, ‘I need a brass section. Get me a brass section now.’ Everyone in the [Quest] building was calling to sort it for him, and we did – within two hours it was recorded. It was a track that was never going to make the album, but Sitek completely changed the vibe and now it’s an amazing song.
“They have a couple of songs that are just unbelievable, mind-blowing. Everyone’s going to be shocked when they hear this record. It’s not like anything Liam’s ever recorded before."

There are fears that if Baloney is crowned winner he’ll not only ruin the show’s credibility but could also kill the prospect of a 10th series next year.
Noel Gallagher has scuppered his chances of ever being asked again to be an X Factor judge by Simon Cowell... he’s backing cheesy Chris Maloney to be the winner.
The ex-Oasis star said: “I’ve been watching X Factor and I wouldn’t mind seeing the Scouser win, because it’d be great to watch him have a nervous breakdown.
“But I also think James Arthur should win. That lad’s the best out of them all.
“I do like The X Factor, I’ve got say, for my sins.”
There are fears that if Baloney is crowned winner he’ll not only ruin the show’s credibility but could also kill the prospect of a 10th series next year.
Rocker Noel, who announced the line-up for the 2013 Teenage Cancer Trust At The Royal Albert Hall gigs, has asked his long-time Blur rivals Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon if they’ll perform alongside him.
Noel, who ended his feud with the band last year, said: “Will we play together? I hope so.”
The dad-of-three also had some paternal advice to give royal parents-to-be William and Kate.
He pointed out: “They’re not the first people in the country to have a baby, are they? I’ve had three.
“William should probably think about rejoining the Army. He’d have a quieter life.”
A garden shed might be a safer option.

Prince William

Noel Gallagher knows quite a bit about maintaining a clean image while being a dad in the spotlight.
So it’s unsurprising he’s doled out some fatherly advice for Prince William about coping with parenthood.
His words of wisdom won’t win him any Dad Of The Year awards though.
The singer says William would be best fighting with the Army once his missus Kate Middleton has the tot — because it would be less hassle than coping with the crying and potty-training sessions.
Noel, who ditched his hardcore party days years ago, said: “They’re not the first people in the country to have a child, are they?
“I’ve got three, you know. Do I have any advice for them? People write books about that s***. Very expensive books — my wife’s got ’em all.
“Tell William he’d be better thinking about rejoining the Army — he’d have a quieter life.”
Noel was asked for his thoughts on how Wills should handle the new arrival while revealing the line-up for next year’s Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, which will feature Kasabian, Primal Scream, Rizzle Kicks and Labrinth.
Noel will be curating the annual event, to run from March 19 to 24 at the Royal Albert Hall.
And Noel pulled off a decent surprise — announcing yesterday that he’s persuaded his old Blur rivals Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon to support him on the final night of the shows. He said: “I was on tour with Graham and asked him if Blur would do it.
“They said just the two of them could and it’ll be great. Ten years ago with Liam, who’d have thought it?”
Noel also hinted that the former rivals could take to the stage together, now they’ve finally buried their Britpop hatchet.
He said: “They’ll be playing Blur songs, I’ll be playing mine.
“Will we share the stage together? I hope so. I’m up for it. It’s always good to have a little jam.” Noel also showed how much he’s softened since his hard-living Oasis days.
He added: “I do play Blur’s Tender at home to myself, when Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Minute Meals is on.
“He’s got some good s*** going on on there, you should try it out.”
Setting up the gigs has clearly helped bring out Noel’s charitable side — that plug should help shift a few more copies of Jamie’s Christmas cookbooks.
Tickets for the TCT gigs go on sale tomorrow, priced £25. To keep up to date, visit teenagecancertrust.org.

Russell Brand
Noel Gallagher is curating the Teenage Cancer Trust's set of gigs; getting some of the biggest bands and comedians to entertain audiences at The Royal Albert Hall, and all to raise money for teenagers that are suffering from cancer.
It sounds like a fun job, curating a week of shows at a truly legendary venue, but according to Noel, it's something the government should be doing (helping teenagers with cancer, not prancing about on stage a la Russell Brand, although that would be funny, too).
"I don't feel I've got a moral obligation to do anything. I do it because it feels right to me, not because I'm morally obliged to do it, let's face it, the government should be doing it, not us" Noel told Contact Music at a press conference today. "It's like when you meet these kids and stuff like that you remember that you were a teenager once, albeit a long time ago but speaking for me personally, I do it because I want to, not because I should be doing it."
Part of the attraction is The Royal Albert Hall, which has seen some of the biggest stars grace its stage. Opened by Queen Victoria in 1871, it is one of the most iconic and visually stunning concert halls in the world. "I love playing at the Albert Hall," explained Gallagher, "never get to play here enough, and I love coming to see bands at the Albert Hall, it's a magnificent historical place and going back to asking the bands to do it, you're doing them the favour by asking them to play it because really, this is not in the gigs circuit."

Noel Gallagher is curating next year's Teenage Cancer Trust shows at the Royal Albert Hall and has told Xfm we might see him on stage with former Britpop rivals Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon from Blur.
It's the first time anyone other than Roger Daultrey has looked after the line-up for the annual charity event - for which Xfm is once again the exclusive radio partner.
Kasabian, Primal Scream and Ryan Adams have all been chosen by the former Oasis man for the series of shows next March but most notably - Noel himself is playing March 23 with Damon and Graham also on the bill for the same night.
Speaking to Xfm's Dan O'Connell Noel explained that he was after Oasis' former enemies Blur for the bill.
"They were one of the first people that I asked - if Blur could do it - because Damon had always said that he'd like to do it, they've tried to get Gorillaz once or twice but could never quite make it work. It was a shame Blur couldn't do it.
He continued, "I dunno how they're gonna do it... I think Damon plays piano and Graham plays guitar and they'll do a load of Blur songs and everyone has a great night.
"I wouldn't be adverse to getting up with them and playing Tender though - that being one of my favourite Blur songs."
It's something you wouldn't have imagined possible 15 years ago - something Noel acknowledged.
"What would I have said in '97? There would have been swear words involved. Definitely," he told Dan.
"We're all older now. I've been on tour with Graham recently and I've met Damon recently... we're all old dudes from the past."

The Stone Roses
Noel Gallagher has opened the door for an Oasis reunion after saying: “If the Stone Roses can do it, then anyone can do it.”
The 45-year-old singer claimed only two months ago that he would not reunite with brother Liam “even if all the starving children in the world depended on it”.
But he now appears to have mellowed to the idea. In an exclusive interview with the Standard in which he unveiled the line-up for this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, he said: “I can understand the man in the street thinking, ‘That was such a huge thing, how can you walk away from it?’ I understand. When the Sex Pistols reformed I thought it was the greatest thing of all time.
“You can never predict what you’ll be doing in 20 years’ time, but I guess if everyone remains vaguely slim and has not gone bald, then it’s on the cards. Forever.
“But saying that, when I pick up a guitar I don’t think about an Oasis reunion. I’ve recently seen [guitarist] Gem [Archer], and Liam, and [drummer] Chris [Sharrock], and not one of them mentioned it.”
Gallagher is now taking a break from music and has taken up the mantle of curator of the TCT’s annual fundraising shows from The Who singer Roger Daltrey.
He said: “It’s not something I ever envisaged myself doing. But if I can help, I will help. I don’t know why it is, I never used to get asked to do f*** all in Oasis. Now, f****** hell! If I did everything I was asked to I would have an MBE. No question.
“I lost two uncles to cancer a few years back. It affects everyone. It’s the one thing that you hope science could sort out instead of, do we need to be sending robots to Mars? Do we need to be building bigger guns and bombs?”
Gallagher has produced a top line-up for the shows at the Royal Albert Hall in March. Performers will include Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, Kasabian, Primal Scream and comedy stars Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.
Securing the artists was no mean feat. Gallagher added: “It’s funny, all the people that you think are gobshites and are the enemies of the Daily Mail, they’re the first people to say yes. Without a pause, Russell said yes. The people that you think are upstanding citizens, they’re the ones who wriggle out of it because they can’t be arsed.”

Other performers on the bill include Primal Scream, Blur's Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, as well as comedy stints from Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.
The shows wil take place from Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 March.

Liam Gallagher
Pretty Green

Liam Gallagher’s menswear brand, Pretty Green, aims to open a flagship store on London’s Regent Street as part of a wider property review of its stores in the capital.
Pretty Green already operates two London stores on Carnaby Street and in Covent Garden. Sources told Retail Week that the retailer is mulling the closure of its Covent Garden store to prevent canibilisation.
A Pretty Green spokeswoman confirmed that the retailer is aiming to open a flagship and is eyeing Regent Street. She also said Pretty Green “might not keep all three stores if we opened on Regent Street”.
However, she insisted that the Covent Garden store is not being actively marketed. “We have no plans to close anything at the moment,” she said. “We’re really happy with the performance across all stores. We’re looking for new stores all the time.
“We’re reviewing our portfolio. We’re looking for a flagship, possibly on Regent Street. We’re a really young brand and are keen to grow.”
The retailer has also signed Jesse Wood – the son of Rolling Star’s guitarist Ronnie Wood – as the face of the brand for two seasons.
Pretty Green debuted on Carnaby Street in 2010. It operates 12 stores, and recent openings include Leeds in June, Tokyo in July and Birmingham in October.
