David Beckham won’t be blagging Noel Gallagher some free England tickets any time soon.
Noel reckons Becks is over the hill – at least in terms of international football.
He said: “Even if we don’t get to the World Cup – it’s still best to get some young lads in now.
“You might as well go and ask Alan Shearer to play – you’ve got to move forward at some point.
“He’s not been picked for England because for the last few years he’s been on the wane.”
But it would take a Manchester City-size transfer fee to secure the deal.
The singer is currently on the promo trail with Beady Eye for new album BE.
Asked about making up with and performing alongside brother Noel, he said: “Listen, it’ll happen when it happens, but it ain’t a f***ing game — it’s the real deal.
“I read a lot of people going, ‘Oh, it’s just a blag, innit? So they can get some more noughts on their big f***ing comeback.’
“But I’m still me and he’s gonna be him.
“I ain’t changing for a million f***ing pounds... I might do it for £30million.”
Liam’s clearly exaggerating the final fee but the band would definitely make some serious cash if they returned to the stage.
It’s unlikely any reunion will happen for a few years given the success of Noel’s solo career and Liam having a new Beady Eye album to promote.
He’s ditched his parka jacket on the cover of the new issue of Q out on Tuesday next week, as a sign that the band have changed their sound for the second album.
He told the mag: “People didn’t like the first one. So we couldn’t do that again.
Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Lennon gear — that’s my thing. I could do that all day long but people don’t want that, so we had to do summat.”
That “summat” included drafting in producer Dave Sitek, who had the band watching 2001: A Space Odyssey in the studio. Liam says he’s put in serious effort on the new record, admitting he cares so much about music that it could one day kill him.
He said: “I won’t die of a drug overdose or a f***ing drinking habit.
“I’ll die of living and breathing and being in a band.
“It won’t be over snorting a line off someone’s head or drinking a daft drink. It’ll be because I’m into it too much. I’ll die of caring too much.”
According to Q, Sitek also had the band burning sage leaves before recording to “ward off evil spirits”.
Liam’s facial expression would have been a sight when that came up.
Like the face made when catching a whiff of what a bear might leave in the woods.
"Some Might Say" is a song by British rock band Oasis and was released on the 24th April 1995.
The song was written by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was the first single to be released from their definitive second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory ? in 1995, and provided the band with their first #1 in the UK Singles Chart.
The track was apparently inspired by the Small Faces and/or T-Rex. It was the last Oasis track to feature original drummer Tony McCarroll, who was asked to leave the band before the main recording sessions for (What's the Story) Morning Glory ? when tensions arose between McCarroll and the Gallagher brothers. The rest of the tracks on the album feature Alan White on drums.
The sleeve artwork, shot at Cromford railway station in Derbyshire, England, features art director Brian Cannon's father with wheelbarrow and his mother with mop. Also pictured are Matthew Sankey, Cannon's aide and Carla Knox, barmaid of his local pub. Liam Gallagher can be seen on the bridge whilst Noel can be viewed with a watering can. Cannon himself rates this piece amongst his greatest works.
The planned promo video for the song was canceled due to Liam not turning up for the shoot. Instead, a makeshift video was created using footage from the "Cigarettes & Alcohol" and US "Supersonic" videos.

B-sides
Aside from the title song, the single boasts some of Oasis' finest B-sides, all of which were deemed worthy to grace the critically acclaimed Masterplan album. "Talk Tonight", is one of many acoustic B-side tracks sung by Noel, and was, at the time, the most vulnerable song he had attempted. It was inspired by the near-breakup of the band in Los Angeles in autumn 1994, when Noel walked out without telling anyone and headed for San Francisco.
The B-side "Acquiesce" was released as part of the Stop the Clocks EP in promotion their compilation album, Stop the Clocks.
In an interview promoting the compilation album, Stop the Clocks, Noel stated that "Some Might Say" is the "archetypical Oasis song' and 'defines what Oasis is". Noel added later in the interview that along with "Some Might Say", its b-side, "Acquiesce", was also the song that defined Oasis.
The song also appears on Stop the Clocks, as do two of the b-sides. Suprisingly, this means that the "Some Might Say" single contains the fourth largest number of tracks to appear on Stop the Clocks of any Oasis release (after Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory and The Masterplan). Therefore, more songs from this single ended up on Stop the Clocks than Don't Believe the Truth (2 songs), Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, Heathen Chemistry (1 song each) and Be Here Now (no songs from this album appear on Stop the Clocks).
"Some Might Say" is a playable track in both Guitar Hero World Tour and The European version of Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades.

David Bowie has "another album in the pipeline", according to Noel Gallagher.
The former Oasis man hinted that the legendary singer has enough leftover material from his new album 'The Next Day' for another record. He made the revelation during an interview with Absolute Radio for 'Bowie Part 3 – Let’s Dance To The Next Day (1980-2013)', which is to be broadcast tonight (April 21) at 7pm.
He said: "According to people I've spoken to, there’s another album in the pipeline. There was, like, 29 songs or something".
However, Gallagher could not say when the new album would be released and admitted that it could be another 10 years before the record sees the light of day. "I don't know what’s next for Bowie. He could disappear for another ten years or there could be another album," he said. "He might do the greatest tour of all time or he might never gig again. Who knows?"
Praising the singer, he added: "I've got to say I was properly staggered about how good (the album) actually was. I don't believe for a second that he’s thrown those songs together in two years. It sounds like a record that has been in the making for ten years. And if it is, I admire him even more. I genuinely put Bowie up there with some of the greatest there has ever been, with Elvis, John Lennon…he's in that league."
NME's special collectors' magazine on David Bowie is out now and includes the complete Bowie story, iconic and rare photographs, every era and character analysed plus classic NME interviews with Bowie himself.
A call to arms that confirms Liam was born to lead
Let's get something straight: there's not a single human being this side of the Statue of Liberty who isn't interested in what Liam Gallagher's doing. Whether he's running around Hampstead Heath (every morning at 6am), christening his cat ("Lazy Our Kid") or standing outside a Soho pub holding three bottles of Champagne (as seen in a recent tabloid story), you will look. Don't deny it. You'll definitely listen to at least 30 seconds of 'Flick Of The Finger', the trippy first taster from Beady Eye's forthcoming album, 'BE' – so named because it's the acronym of Beady Eye, but presumably also because it's the verb for human existence. Mega. Being curious about Liam is just a fact of life. He's described 'BE' as "fucking lairy cosmic". Well, if he'd scored Star Wars, 'Flick Of The Finger' would be his 'Imperial Death March'. A brass band takes us on a journey through Liam's mind as he first wakes up "with the moon and the room on the wrong side", then swaggers off towards the future. If you were going to follow any man into the unknown it'd be him. His call-to-arms here ("It's ahhhhhnnnn") confirms that he was born to lead. Let's not be daft and credit producer Dave Sitek for this. You can't hear Sitek. You wouldn't hear Krakatoa erupt over the sound of Liam's bravado. Anyway, is 'Flick Of The Finger' any good? Yeah. So, up yours.
Music fans can hear a sneak preview of a new album featuring the Hale-based ex-Oasis guitarist, Bonehead.
The 47-year-old - real name Paul Arthurs - will perform songs from Parlour Flames at a free gig in Manchester on April 20, (Saturday).
Bonehead will be joined by songwriting partner Vinny Peculiar for a gig in Pretty Green, the King Street clothes shop owned by his former band mate Liam Gallagher.
The CD is Bonehead’s first album release since leaving Oasis in 1999 and the musician said he’s looking forward to the performance.
He said: “I'm excited about playing the album in the venue as it's not a regular gig venue, and obviously it's owned by Liam who is a good friend of mine. Also we wanted to do something different to celebrate the release of the record for Record Store day.”
Bonehead said both he and Vinny are happy with the album and added that the idea was first broached several years ago.
He said: “As the recording progressed, we both felt that we had produced something we were both happy to put out. I don't think it was a case of waiting so long to release something, more a case of "this feels right" and I'm happy to put my name behind it.”
Liam and Noel Gallagher have a colourful reputation and Bonehead said working with them in Oasis was a “massive” part of his life.
He said: “We went on to achieve everything, and more, that we set out to do. It's certainly a period of my life that I'm immensely proud to have been a part of, and yes I've got plenty of anecdotes I could share with you, but you probably wouldn't put to print.”
* The gig starts at 1pm and admission is on a first come first served basis. Pretty Green can accommodate up to 120 people.
Rock legend Noel Gallagher backed a charity gig by Motherwell College students after inviting them to meet him in London.
The young musicians were performing in Edinburgh’s Princes Mall last week for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
And, ahead of the show, the former Oasis man invited some of them to London’s Royal Albert Hall where he was taking to the stage in another fundraiser for the charity.
Student Ron North, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, said: “To get to meet one of my heroes, Noel Gallagher, was unbelievable. I told him about the album we have put together and everything we were doing at the college and he was very supportive.”
Diagnosed with rare cancer ocular melanoma in June 2009, Ron underwent a series of treatments before he eventually had surgery to remove his right eye in September 2011.
He said: “Coming to terms with losing an eye and having a prosthetic one fitted was a challenge. But, thanks to the support from my lecturers, who helped me adjust, I’m now using my experience and my passion for music to do something for the Teenage Cancer Trust.”
Ron travelled south with fellow student Matthew McConnell, before heading back to join up in Edinburgh with the rest of the college performing arts department.
Following their return from London, they joined fellow music students for rehearsals, before entertaining the thousands of tourists who flock each day to the Scottish capital.
Rock and pop student Gerald Thomson said: “This is one in a series of brilliant events we have been fortunate enough to perform in, whilst studying at Motherwell College.
“From recording an album to performing at local venues, in and around Motherwell and Glasgow, and now getting the opportunity to perform at an open-air event, it is simply a dream come true.”
This was one of a series of events Motherwell College is running to help fund the Teenage Cancer Trust, having raised over £11,000 for the charity last year.
This isn’t the first unusual location the students have performed at. Recently, they belted out their tunes from the Wallace Monument in Stirling.
Head of performing arts, David McShane, said: “To perform in front of audiences is crucial for our students.
“We strive to make the course interactive, giving students the practical experience which they require to take their careers in music on to the next level.
“From the National Wallace Monument in Stirling to the Capital’s Princes Mall, we are committed to promoting our students and their music and we know these experiences will give them confidence, essential to performance and their futures.
“Supporting the TCT is important to the college and our students, some of whom have relied upon the practical support and advice this service offers young people living with cancer.”
Taking a break from their studies over Easter, the students performed on top of Princes Mall ahead of releasing their debut album, The Showcase.
They will be performing in their end-of-year showcase at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.
