Unfinished Oasis-Era Song 'Lock All The Doors' To Appear On New Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Album

Noel Gallagher has confirmed that a song he first began writing while he was still a member of Oasis appears on his new solo album.

'Chasing Yesterday' will be released on March 2, 2015 under the name of Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds. Details of the album and a 2015 UK arena tour were announced earlier today (October 13) during a Facebook Q+A.

Speaking about the song he took decades to complete, Noel said: "There's a song on this record that's taken me 23 years to finish, it's called 'Lock All The Doors'. I gave a bit of it away to the Chemical Brothers in the '90s when we did 'Setting Sun' and I always meant to finish it off. I kept the chorus but I could never find a way of getting the verse to tie in with this chorus. One afternoon I was coming out the Tesco Metro where I live in Maida Vale, and I don't know what it was but it just hit me, coming round the corner, just by Boots, it came to me in a flash of inspiration. This song was never released by Oasis, but the chorus is so fucking brilliant I never gave up on it."

Gallagher also revealed that an album track, 'The Dying Of The Light', will be familiar to fans from an online bootleg video. "It's a song that one of this lot [points at Q&A audience] bootlegged. I did it at soundcheck on the last tour and somebody taped it and put it on the internet. I thought, I'll leave it there. It's been played quite a few times, but as with these things they always get the title wrong. They call it 'It Makes Me Want To Cry' which is a shit title. Unless it's a song about an onion. It's called 'The Dying Of The Light', which is a brilliant title for a song. How do I feel when people put stuff online? If it's shit, I'd have it removed. But as luck would have it, this particular version of it was brilliant, so I left it there for people to enjoy. It was only an acoustic thing; the finished version is far more grandiose."

Elsewhere in the Q+A, Noel revealed that Johnny Marr performs on the album's closing track 'Ballad Of The Mighty I', which will be the second single from the album. "He's a very enthusiastic artist and I tried to get him to play on 'What A Life', he said. "He's a truly great guitarist and he has something that nobody else has. He's amazing, a top man."

The lead single from 'Chasing Yesterday' will be 'In The Heat Of The Moment'. Speaking about the song, Noel said: "The first single was the last track to be recorded. It's called 'In The Heat Of The Moment'. Is it great? Of course it is. What does it mean? It doesn't mean anything."

Noel Gallagher has confirmed that he will appear on a celebrity special of Channel 4's Gogglebox in aid of charity.

The episode will be aired this Friday (October 17), with Gallagher set to appear alongside models Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. The show sees families and members of the public watching weekly British television shows and commenting on what they see.

"I can reveal to the nation that I will be on Celebrity Gogglebox – I'm taping it tomorrow with my good friends who just happen to be supermodels Naomi [Campbell] and Kate [Moss]," Noel recently told BBC 6 Music's Steve Lamacq. "I was on holiday with Kate and she asked me to do it and I thought 'Okay'."

What Happened When Noel Gallagher, Russell Brand & Morrissey Went For A Night Out?

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before...

Noel Gallagher and Russell Brand are old friends. The guitarist leaped to the comedian's defence during Sachsgate, with the pair remaining close during both bad times and good.

So the opportunity for a night out with Morrissey was just too difficult to pass up. Speaking on Radio 2 yesterday (October 14th) Gallagher revealed that Morrissey's acidic tongue made for a memorable evening.

"He's the funniest man I've ever met in my entire life. Absolutely side splitting," he said, before adding: "He's not got a good word to say about anyone – he's very cutting. He bullied Russell!"

Noel was, of course, promoting his newly announced album 'Chasing Yesterday'. Seemingly self-financed, the record was then shopped to various record labels by the guitarist's management.

"I don't have a record deal – my management have to put it in a suitcase and hawk it around the world," he explained. "I don't think the music business has a clue whats going on at the moment… I sat in a meeting recently, of how we're gonna release it ('Chasing Yesterday')... I got so frustrated… there's too much time devoted to how we're gonna release the record, just get it out and get on the road!"

Noel Gallagher Hates The Title Of His Forthcoming Album

The High Flying Birds frontman has revealed he is not impressed with the title for his new album, which is due for release in March 2015, so much so, that if he could change it he would – except that he can't come up with anything better.

Speaking during a Q and A session streamed live on Facebook, the 47-year-old singer-songwriter said: ''Effectively it doesn't really have a title, I couldn't really come up with a title for it and every time I did somebody would say to me that's f***ing s**t. I literally came up with it last week but it'll have to do for now, if I could change it I would change it.''

In fact Gallagher hates coming up with titles for his albums so much that he wished he could let fans decide what they could be called. He explained:  ''If I could stick an album out with a plain white sticker on it and say ''Call it what you want'' I would.''

Gallagher also revealed that one of the tracks on Chasing Yesterday, called Lock All the Door, has taken him 23 years to complete. ''I always meant to finish it off, I kept the chorus but I could never find a way of getting the verses and chorus to tie up. One day I was coming out of Tesco Metro in Maida Vale, where I live, and it just came to me. The song is from 1993 but the chorus was so f***ing brilliant I never forgot it.''

Noel Gallagher Won't Write A Autobiography

Noel Gallagher won't write an autobiography because it would be a ''load of homework''.

The former Oasis star has revealed he's turned down offers to put his life story into words because he doesn't have the inclination to put the events of his life and career into words.

Speaking at a Q&A session at Facebook HQ in London on Monday (13.10.14), he said: ''I've been offered to do it a couple of times, but I read autobiographies and think, 'That is like a proper load of f***ing homework'. And it is, it's a lot of homework. I struggle to write the words for a song, never mind my life story. If I did write it I'd think it was great until I picked it up in a book shop and then I 'd think it was s**t. I would just think, 'I don't mean any of that.' ''

However, Noel admits he would be tempted to put pen to paper if he really needed the money.

He added: ''I guess if I've ever got literally no f***ing money left and nothing better to do I'd probably consider it. I would do it for £750,000. But I struggle sending texts, you know what I mean?''

Despite the hedonistic lifestyle he and his brother Liam Gallagher lived when they were in Oasis, the 47-year-old musician insists his memories of the band's career is pretty good, but the things he can recall aren't necessarily the most interesting.

He revealed: ''I remember certain stupid things. I mean when I get home after this today I'll have to be reminded where I've been this afternoon. But I can remember what shoes I was wearing when Oasis played South Shields Leisure Centre in 1993 - they there were Adidas Kick, which is a trainer of course.''

At the Q&A Noel announced his new High Flying Birds album, Chasing Yesterday, which will be released next March and debuted his next single 'In the Heat of the Moment', will be released digitally and on limited-edition vinyl on November 17.

Noel Gallagher's X Factor Snub Sparks Row With Daughter!

Noel Gallagher reckons his daughter will never forgive him for turning down a judging spot on The X Factor.

He gave Simon Cowell the middle finger when he was offered a role on the ITV show four years ago.

But his daughter Anais is still fuming.

Noel revealed: “She’s furious every week that it’s on.

“She tut tuts at the screen saying, ‘That could’ve been you slagging them off’. I’ll never be forgiven.”

Noel was out announcing details of Chasing Yesterday, his second solo album with his High Flying Birds, at Facebook HQ.

But fans were still wondering when an Oasis reunion with his brother Liam might take place.

“What reunion?” The Manchester legend dead-panned.

“You all seem to know more than I do.”

His eclectic new album, out March 2, has been described as “space jazz” and even has “a couple of disco tracks”.

But it’s Lock All The Doors that will please Oasis fans the most, as it’s been hanging around for decades.

Noel explained: “I gave a bit to Chemical Brothers in the 90s for Setting Sun. I kept meaning to finish it, I kept the chorus.

“Then one day I came out of Tesco Maida Vale where I live and it came to me. I’d had the chorus since 1993, it was f***ing brilliant and I never gave up on it.”

High Flying Birds tour dates have just been announced, kicking off in Belfast March 3, and Noel is contemplating Glastonbury too.

“I’ll be up for doing it,” he said. “I’d headline the spoken word tent, I was there three days this year and I didn’t see one f***ing band. It was great.”

First single In The Heat Of The Moment drops November 17.

Tour tickets go on sale this Friday.

Noel Gallagher: 'Morrissey Is The Funniest Man I've Ever Met'

Noel Gallagher has said that Morrissey is the funniest man he's ever met.

Speaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 earlier this evening (October 13), Gallagher spoke about a night out in Los Angeles which he shared with Morrissey and Russell Brand. "He's the funniest man I've ever met in my entire life. Absolutely side splitting." He added: "He's not got a good word to say about anyone – he's very cutting. He bullied Russell!"

Following the announcement of Noel Gallagher's new album, 'Chasing Yesterday', the former Oasis man also revealed that he is yet to have a record deal. The album will be released on March 2, 2015 under the Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds name. However, speaking to Whiley, Gallagher commented: "I don't have a record deal – my management have to put it in a suitcase and hawk it around the world."

Gallagher went on to discuss the current state of the music industry, saying: "I don't think the music business has a clue whats going on at the moment… I sat in a meeting recently, of how we're gonna release it ['Chasing Yesterday']... I got so frustrated… there's too much time devoted to how we're gonna release the record, just get it out and get on the road!"

Discussing the record, Gallagher said he had only just decided on the title. "I dithered on the title for the album up until about two days ago when I had to submit it… I must have changed it 12 times!" He added that he now 'hates' his choice. "As soon as it went I thought 'I hate it!"

A UK arena tour will take place next year, with dates in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham and Belfast. Scroll down for full details.

Noel Gallagher: 15 Funniest Moments From His Q&A

Noel Gallagher announced his musical comeback in a Facebook Q&A today (October 13), revealing a new album, single and 2015 arena tour.

However, the real highlight of the Q&A wasn't the news, it was the return of Noel's one-liners and dry wit. Here are 15 of his best moments:

1. On whether he will release an autobiography...
"If I've ever got literally no f**king money left and nothing better to do. But I struggle to write texts. Are you from a publishing company? Because I will do it for £750,000."

2. On Liam's criticism of the Definitely Maybe reissue...
"I bet he wasn't saying that when he was putting the cheque in the bank."

3. On the Definitely Maybe reissue...
"I'm sorry to say this you guys [the fans], but it's money for old f**king rope."

4. On what he feels proud about...
"Getting away with reissuing Definitely Maybe for the fourth time, I'm pretty proud of that. Gotta be proud of that right."

5. On what he does on an ordinary day...
"What is there to do? There's f**k all to do. What do you do? There's nothing to do when you get to my age. Life is pretty empty without football. I've just been making s**t up these last three months. I go to the shops."

6. On his favourite TV shows...
"Anything with sharks in. There was a thing called The Nazis' Prehistoric Creatures. Who doesn't want to watch a show like that? They were trying to breed dinosaurs. Even if it's b*llocks, you're duty bound to watch it. They were trying to breed dinosaurs? Were they f**k.

"There was a thing on last night about a guy trying to unlock the mysteries of JFK's assassination. Did anyone watch that? Do you know who shot him? A secret service guy by accident. That was on Channel 5. F**king nonsense."

7. On what the album was nearly called...
"Dark Side of The Room. Wheat is Murder."

8. On the single 'In The Heat of the Moment'...
"Is it great? Of course it is. What does it mean? It don't meant anything."

9. On new sounds on the album...
"It's got saxaphone solos on it. Don't think of Spandau Ballet. You're going to love it."

10. On a fan who thanks him for writing 'Champagne Supernova', 'Live Forever' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger'...
"I take it from that, 1995 onwards, you can take it or leave it."

11. On the internet...
"It spoils it for fans now that fans know everything that's going on. You're tweeting sh*te and instagramming this. If there's a constant update of what you've done, it's just boring.

"When I was growing up, I didn't know what The Smiths were doing one year to the next and you didn't want to know. The first thing you knew was there was a press release and the album was coming out.

"For all the great things that the internet has given us, it's destroyed the mystery."

12. On attending Glastonbury this year...
"I was there all three days this year and I didn't see a single f**king band, I watched it all on iPlayer when I got home. It was great."

13. On Metallica's headline set...
"I clapped Lars on stage, but as much as I love Lars, it dawned on me after 30 seconds, 'F**k, this is heavy metal. What the f**k are you doing here'. And I went off to some acid house tent to relive my youth."

14. On his daughter's anger at him turning down the chance to judge The X Factor...
"She will say to me, 'That could have been you slagging him off'. I don't think she'll ever forgive me. I'm sure I'll have to go to a psychiatrist meeting when she's 34 about it."

15. On the instruments he plays on his new album...
"The guitar, the bass, various keyboards, the tambourine, the washboard, the electric kazoo, the triangle, the wineglasses, the electric kettle and you know the bathtub with the thing in it. That didn't make the final cut, but I tried it."

Noel Gallagher's Chasing Yesterday is released on March 2. The first single off the record is released on November 17.

Noel Gallagher Dismisses Oasis Glastonbury Reunion

Noel Gallagher has said he would love to headline Glastonbury, but laughed off rumours of an Oasis reunion for the famous festival.

The musician, who has announced the release of a new album and single, said his old band "never really got on with" the event despite playing it several times.

Speaking to fans at Facebook's London office, he said: "I'd be up for doing it, I'm going regardless."

Asked if any of the new songs would appear in a setlist of an Oasis reunion, he said: "What reunion set? Am I missing something out here?"

Earlier this year, his brother Liam sparked rumours the band were getting back together with a series of cryptic tweets that led one bookmaker to suspend betting on the band playing the Somerset festival.

Oasis, who split in 2009 when Noel walked out, had dozens of hits including Wonderwall and Little by Little in a career lasting more than a decade.

Noel's new album, Chasing Yesterday, will be released in March with the first single, In the Heat of the Moment, out next month.

The star revealed one of the tracks, Lock All the Doors, had taken him 23 years to write.

He said: "I gave a bit of it away to the Chemical Brothers in the nineties when we did Setting Sun and I always meant to finish it off.

"I kept the chorus but I could never find a way of getting the verse to tie in with this chorus and one afternoon I was coming out of the Tesco Metro where I live in Maida Vale and I don't know what it was it just hit me coming round the corner."

Noel Gallagher Rules Out Free iTunes Album For Next Release

Noel Gallagher insists he won’t be “doing a U2” and giving away his new album for free.

The Irish rockers drew controversy when they distributed their new record automatically to iTunes users, but Noel says he won’t be following suit. “My records in particular cost too much money to make, let alone give away for free,” Noel , 47, says.

“People that do that tend to hide behind ambiguity of... ‘this many people may have downloaded it’.

“I prefer my bands to make a record, put it out, stick your chest out and stand behind it. That’s the way I work, and the way I always will.

“If anything, I’m gonna put the price up.”

The former Oasis frontman – who scoffed at hints of a reunion with brother Liam – is releasing new material under his moniker, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The new album, released in March, will be called Chasing Yesterday, after he rejected jokey working titles including Dark Side Of The Room and Wheat Is Murder.

He produced the record himself, something he claims was “a pain in the a***”, and hints that there’s a disco vibe to some of the tracks. But we probably won’t see him performing any of his new tracks, including next month’s single In The Heat Of The Moment, on the X Factor after he turned down a position on the judging panel.

“I wouldn’t have thought I’d ever get asked to perform,” he says, speaking at a Q&A at Facebook’s London headquarters.

“Having seen people that perform on there, they proper put on a show.”

And his 14-year-old daughter, Anais, still hasn’t forgiven him for not taking up the role.

“She’s still furious. Every week we watch it, she’ll be tutting at the screen saying, ‘I could be there. It could have been you.’

“She’ll never forgive me. I’m convinced I’ll going to have to sit in a psychiatrist’s office with her when she’s 34.”

"I had all these people looking at me and saying: ‘right, what are we doing today?’ I was making the whole thing up as I went along.”

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Announce New Album And Tour Dates And Says He's Up For Glastonbury

Album will be released in March 2015 and features Johnny Marr on closing track

The album will be released on March 2, 2015 under the name of Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds. The details were announced during a Facebook Q&A in London earlier today (October 13).

In addition to the album, details of a UK arena tour were also announced with dates in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham and Belfast. Scroll down for full details.

Johnny Marr performs on the closing track, which will be the second single from the album. "He's a very enthusiastic artist and I tried to get him to play on 'What A Life', Gallagher said. "He's a truly great guitarist and he has something that nobody else has. He's amazing, a top man."

Confirming details of 'Chasing Yesterday', Gallagher said: "I've never been involved in two successful albums in a row. After '…Morning Glory?', we [Oasis] blew the one after that."

The lead single from 'Chasing Yesterday' will be 'In The Heat Of The Moment'. Speaking about the song, Noel said: "The first single was the last track to be recorded. It's called 'In The Heat Of The Moment'. Is it great? Of course it is. What does it mean, it doesn't mean anything."

The album was self-produced after Gallagher's regular producer, Dave Sardy, was unavailable to work on the record. "I enjoyed the freedom of it but not the responsibility," Noel said. "I'm used to asking people, 'What are we doing today?' and then people were asking me that question. I finished it the day after the World Cup final. I finished it early, I've been sitting on it a while, it's been burning a hole in my pocket."

The Q&A was then handed over to fans in the audience with Gallagher immediately asked about the chances of him performing songs from 'Chasing Yesterday' when Oasis perform. Noel's answer was a simple: "What reunion?"

Another fan asked about how long it takes him to write songs, to which Gallagher confirmed that album track 'Lock All The Doors' has taken 23 years to finish. "I always meant to finish it off, I kept the chorus but I could never find a way of getting the verses and chorus to tie up. One day I was coming out of Tesco Metro in Maida Vale, where I live, and it just came to me. The song is from 1993 but the chorus was so fucking brilliant I never forgot it."

The subject of U2 and their free album 'Songs Of Innocence' also came up. Would Noel ever give an album away for free? "No, my records cost too much to be giving away for free," he said. "If anything, I want to put the prices of my records up."

Similarly, Noel expressed an interest in performing at Glastonbury. "If I was asked, yeah. I was there all three days this year, I didn't see a single band. I watched it all on iPlayer when I got home. If you're listening Michael Eavis, I'll do it."

Noel Gallagher will play:

Belfast, Odyssey Arena (March 3)
Dublin, 3 Arena (4)
Nottingham, Capital FM Arena (6)
Glasgow, The SSE Hydro (7)
Manchester, Arena, (9)
London, O2 Arena (10)
