Oasis
The Stone Roses
David Beckham has said that he had to keep his love of Oasis a secret while at Manchester United because it was 'frowned upon' as the majority of the band supported Manchester City.
He told SoccerBible “I used to go to the odd Oasis gig even though it was frowned upon them being City fans and me being a United fan and a United player. But being in Manchester in the nineties, it was just part of the culture.”
He added that he regularly meets up with Noel Gallagher, as well as members of The Stone Roses.
“I loved those bands, but as soon as we’re together all we talk about is football and it’s the first thing they want to talk about. I sit with Noel and all he wants to talk about is how crap United were and how great City are. Same with Browny and a couple of the other guys. Mani is such a massive United fan. He loves a chat. He doesn’t struggle with words. All he ever wants to talk about is the youth team, reserve team, ‘99’.”
“The nineties were such a massive moment for Manchester culture, and that’s when I discovered how much I loved the music.”

U2
Please note that this interview was conducted in English first, then translated into Japanese for the December issue of 'Rockin' On' and has been translated back into English by mimmihopps.
The interview took place before Noel went on tour with U2 earlier this year.
From all the songs in the new album, 'It’s A Beautiful World' is the song with the most David Bowie influence.
Holy Mountain is also influenced by 'Aladdin Sane' era’s Bowie.
Top secret! 'I still don’t know what I was waiting for' from 'Waiting For The Rapture' was 'borrowed' from 'Changes'.
He’s always been listening to David Bowie since his childhood. His cassette tape he always took with him on the road (his roadie years and Oasis years), was filled with Led Zeppelin, Bowie and Slade.
The reason why Noel got into Bowie's music was Mick Ronson. Mick is his guitar hero next to Johnny Marr
Noel’s favourite Bowie album is Hunky Dory. His favourite Bowie era is Space Oditty to Ashes to Ashes. He doesn’t like Bowie’s Berlin era.
Heathen and Next Day are great albums. To Noel, Let’s Dance is the best album of Bowie’s entire career
Noel met Bowie a couple of times (at Brit Awards etc) and exchanged emails with him 4 or 5 times.
The first email he received from Bowie was something like “Thank you for your kind words about me. Keep making great music. I’ll always support you”. Then a couple of months later he passed away.

Oasis
Noel Gallagher spoke on 'The One Show' this evening with Matt Baker and Angela Scanlon about Oasis entering the 'Rock And Roll Hall of Fame' next year .
Angela asked Noel if the induction ceremony would be the perfect venue for Oasis to reunite.
"I'd do it," he answered. "I guess you'd have to [reunite], to accept it. That's if you accept it."
Noel immediately yanked back any hope from fans when Angela press him on whether or not he'd actually accept an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"I'm gonna say no," he smiled. "We can say yes. Shall we say yes?"
After being pressed for a positive answer Noel joked: "Absolutely. I would be thrilled to do it."
Noel also spoke about what he'll be getting his brother Liam for Christmas this year.
"Well, Liam's been benefiting from my genius for a long time," he quipped. "He's going to do with that again this year."

Liam Gallagher voices The Alternative Christmas advert, which shows a snowman melting in the heat due to the unseasonably warm weather.
As Sammy the snowman is seen at first interacting with the birds and wildlife, by the end of the 60 second clip he is sadly reduced to just a puddle.
He voices the animation, which reads: 'It's winter and it's cold this time of year isn't it. Well it might feel chilly and the wind might bite at your nose.
'Maybe you want to snuggle up with a hot chocolate or wrap up warm and wear your biggest coat. But in the grand scheme of things our earth is getting too hot and it’s getting even hotter.
'Our seasons are getting confused, lots of birds are nesting earlier and spring flowers are coming out too soon. This is what climate change looks like.'
It’s affecting so many of the things we love both here in our own backyards and around the world. But we have hope because we know that together we can protect them.
'If we act now and everyone does their bit. So this Christmas give a gift of love and show the world you care.
