Liam Gallagher Has Signed With Coda Music Agency

Former Oasis and Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher has signed with Coda Music Agency.

The rock singer is set to release his debut solo album in 2017 via Warner Bros. Records and will be represented on the live circuit by Coda agent and partner Alex Hardee.

“Coda is proud to announce one of the true music legends of our time joins our ranks,” said Hardee, whose personal roster includes the likes of Bastille, Jess Glynne and Jake Bugg.

“With a new record deal with Warners, exciting times lay ahead.”

The London-based agency is already home to acts such as Take That, The Prodigy, Ellie Goulding, Bon Iver and The xx, as well as All Saints, band of Gallagher’s ex-wife Nicole Appleton.

Gallagher, 44, is being managed by his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther and UROK Management.

While with Beady Eye, he was booked by Oasis agent Ben Winchester of Primary Talent International - who also reps Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - and latterly by David Levy of WME.

The reissue of Oasis’ 1997 album Be Here Now went in at No.4 in this week’s Official Albums Chart, with sales of 12,492.

Jake Bugg: 'Noel Gallagher's Last Album Is Pretty Crap'

Jake Bugg has hit back at Noel Gallagher after he was criticised for using co-writers on his first two albums.

Bugg, who returns with his self-penned third album 'On My One' later this year, was dismissed by Gallagher last year who said he was "heart broken" to discover that the young artist had worked with other people to write his songs.

However, in a new interview with NME, Bugg breezed past the comments and aimed his own criticisms at Gallagher's 'Chasing Yesterday', which was released last year.

"Noel's last album is pretty crap though, innit?" Bugg says. "I'm not upset about it because it's just Noel – he'll slag off Ed Sheeran and then be at a party with him the next week. It's just the way he is."

Elsewhere in the interview, Bugg reveals that his rumoured collaboration with Beastie Boys' Mike D didn't make his new album because he failed to get a finished version from him. "He was doing a track of mine. But I still haven't bloody got it back. Do you know what it's called? 'Waiting'. Can you believe that? It's like fucking taking the piss."

Noel Gallagher Has Branded New Music Bland

WE’RE LIVING IN “SAVAGE” times, reckons Noel Gallagher, but the ex-Oasis star says you’d be hard pushed to hear that reflected by the current crop of British singer-songwriters.

Speaking to MOJO, Gallagher has branded new music “bland”, arguing that, unlike previous generations, new artists make no effort to reflect the mood of the era in their songs.

“What has become apparent to me is that we live in ridiculous f***ing times now,” he suggests. “The music that’s being made now is so f***ing bland. It’s nice and kind of meaningless and then you turn on the television and the news is so savage! The music doesn’t reflect the times at all.

“I hear Radio 1 in the morning when the kids are up and going to school and it’s just bland, meaningless, mindless pop music and then the news is: ‘The World Is Going To End!’ What’s going on? The music of George Ezra: Wow!”

Gallagher, who headlines this summer’s Calling Festival in London on July 4, suggested that part of the problem was that the latest crop of musicians are no longer interested in being in bands and instead are drawn into introspective solo careers.

“I was talking to a mate recently who’s been in various bands and I was asking what he was doing and he was saying, ‘I’m trying to do my own stuff now.’ I said, ‘You should be in a band, you look great,’ and he said, ‘Nobody wants to be in bands any more, everybody wants to be a singer-songwriter.’ That’s his generation. Everyone wants to be Jake Bugg or George Ezra. The band thing is dying out,” claims the guitarist.

However Gallagher has sympathy for the current generation, believing the country’s declining musical infrastructure is forcing artists to go solo rather than form groups.

“I blame it on the lack of rehearsal rooms and the lack of little tiny studios because it’s easier for a guy to sit at home with a tape recorder and send it to a record company than it is for a band,” he says.

“Back in my day, we used to go down the rehearsal room when it was 20 quid a night, or whatever it was, and you bash it out. Everybody’s got a home recording studio on their iPhone now. All the cheap studios and venues are going to go soon. You’re going to either be stuck at the bottom in [London pub venue] the Boston Arms or you’re going to be catapulted to the top at The O2 and there will be nothing in between.”

Jake Bugg: 'I Don't Want To See Oasis Reform'

British singer Jake Bugg has taken a swipe at his former mentor Noel Gallagher by insisting he has no interest in seeing Oasis reform.

The young singer/songwriter's profile received a major boost in 2012 when he was taken out on the road as a support act by Gallagher, who also championed 20-year-old Bugg as the U.K.'s next big star.

However, the Lightning Bolt hitmaker has now confessed that although he was a fan of Gallagher's band first time around, he has no desire to see them in concert if the guitarist ever reforms the group with his frontman brother Liam.

He tells Nme magazine, "I was an Oasis fan (but) I'm not too bothered about seeing them, you know? I'd have liked to see them in 1995, but not now."

Record Store Day Unveils 2014 Releases: Oasis, Paul Weller, Nirvana, Jake Bugg, And More

Nirvana, Paul Weller and Oasis are among the artists who have contributed releases to Record Store Day 2014.

Paul Weller will release new material on a seven-inch, with the single limited to just 2,500 copies. Meanwhile, Nirvana's 'Pennyroyal Tea' will be released on the same format and Oasis' debut single 'Supersonic' will be re-released on 12-inch. A full list of all of this year's releases can be found on the official Record Store Day website.

David Bowie has outlined plans to release a seven-inch picture disc of 'Rock'N'Roll Suicide' in the UK. First released as a single in 1974, the new version is backed with 'Farewell Speech', recorded at the final Ziggy Stardust concert at London's Hammersmith Odeon in July, 1973.

Sex Pistols will release a limited-edition numbered seven-inch vinyl boxset which features alternate takes of 'Never Mind The Bollocks' tracks, plus two 1977 studio mixes of 'Belsen Was A Gas', including a previously unreleased demo version of the song.

'Live At Silver Platters, Seattle' is a four-track EP recorded by Jake Bugg at the singer-songwriter's January 20, 2014 instore show in the US city. It sees Bugg performing acoustic versions of tracks from his debut album and 2013 follow-up 'Shangri La', including breakthrough hit 'Lightning Bolt'.

Meanwhile, LCD Soundsystem's farewell concert, 'The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden', will come out as a five-LP set for Record Store Day, with a wider vinyl and digital release set for May 19. The recording will be an unabridged version of the band's final gig, coming in at almost four hours long.

Suede will put out their single 'Let Go' on vinyl for the first time. The track was originally released as a limited-run CD single in Sweden in 1999. The seven-inch will feature 'Heroin' as a B-side.

Green Day have announced plans to release 18 demos, including a previously unreleased track from recording sessions from the 2012 '¡Uno!', '¡Dos!' and '¡Tré!' trilogy. The release will be available on coloured vinyl, CD and cassette.

Savages, Drenge and Summer Camp are among the bands set to appear on a charity album released in conjunction with Record Store Day UK and War Child. War Child will be the official charity for this year's event and, together with XFM, a limited-edition record has been produced featuring the best of DJ John Kennedy’s X-Posure Sessions.

Other big name artists contributing to this year's event include Damon Albarn, The Beach Boys, Chvrches, Edwyn Collins, Disclosure, Fleetwood Mac, Haim, Joy Division, Kings Of Leon, Metronomy, OutKast, Slipknot and The Rolling Stones, while Temples and Jagwar Ma have teamed up for a split seven-inch.

A number of mystery artists have contributed to the Secret 7" project in which seven tracks are pressed onto vinyl 100 times before artists are invited to design one-of-a-kind sleeves for the records. The names of the seven artists and musicians will be revealed this Monday (March 24).

Chuck D has been named as the official ambassador of Record Store Day 2014. Speaking about his appointment, he commented: "In this age where industry has threaded the music sound with virtual sight and story I am honoured to be called upon to be Record Store Day Ambassador of 2014. With the masses, neck bent into their smartphones, let all of us music lovers GPS our way into a reality that is the record store. It's worth a great try, let's do this."

Record Store Day was launched in the US seven years ago, coming to the UK a year later.

Liam And Noel Gallagher Are One Of The Most Stylish Rock Stars

Noel Gallagher has beaten his brother Liam to the title of Most Stylish Rock Star.

The guitarist - who quit Oasis in 2009 - has topped a poll to find the best dressed rocker, and even though Beady Eye singer Liam has his own Pretty Green fashion line he could only make fifth spot.

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner - who headlines Glastonbury this weekend - came second, Kasabian axe man made third place, while Miles Kane, famous for his sharp suits and Mod style, finished fourth.

The British poll was carried out by designer menswear store www.stuartslondon.com.
Ravi Grewal, owner of Stuarts London, said: ''It's good to see that musicians are still looked up to when it comes to their fashion choices.

And it seems smartly dressed rockers like Gallagher, Turner and Pizzorno have overtaken scruffy rockers

''Alex Turner has experimented with different looks, from his early days in Barracuta jackets to his rocker image today, but he always pulls them off perfectly.

''Liam and Miles both gave him a run for his money in the poll, and either would have been great choices as winners - their styles mix statement pieces like Liam's leopard print shoes or Miles's flashy suits, with classic wardrobe staples.''

Other notable entrants in the top 10 included 'Lightning Bolt' singer Jake Bugg in at number seven, while sharply dressed Brandon Flowers, whose band The Killers headlined their first ever Wembley Stadium show last weekend, came in at number eight.

Hurts’ Adam Anderson Tells Noel Gallagher And Jake Bugg To Leave One Direction Alone!

Adam Anderson has spoken out in defence of One Direction…surprisingly.

The Hurts star felt compelled to stick up for the X Factor singers, after they came under fire from all sides this month, following their win of the Global Success gong at the Brit Awards.

Jake Bugg branded the band ‘terrible’, Paloma Faith said they do not deserve to be compared to The Beatles, Matthew Fox hates the fact that his daughter is a 1D fan and Noel Gallagher is proud that he and Damon Albarn ignored the boys at the awards ceremony.

Anderson was sitting next to the fab fivesome at The Brits and he told Gigwise that he thinks people need to give them an easier time. He explained:

“I think they seem like decent lads and they’re having fun. If you were 19 and in their position then you would have fun.

“I think they should be left alone really. It’s good for the equilibrium of pop to have boybands.”

Adam thinks it’s a good thing for the UK music industry to have local artists selling well around the globe and after all, One Direction boast the third and fourth best selling albums in the world in 2012.

Anderson added: “At the end of the day they [One Direction] are a big export for music in this country. If One Direction and Adele raise the profile for British acts then fair enough.”

He thinks perhaps Brits organisers could have planned their ceremony better and added some different styled acts to the lineup. He thinks had they done that the event wouldn’t have been branded ‘boring.’

“I think there was an absence of a certain type of band which was the problem, but that’s just timing.

“It is what it is. It was still a good laugh and a good party afterwards. You make your own fun sometimes.”
